Hello.
I wiped the cust partition using twrp, my device has locked bootloader.
How to flash this? miflash does not flash this partition using EDL mode, and fastboot shows an error related to the locked bootloader.
Thanks.
What does cust contain?

Mine is a kate, i don't know if the process is the same.
Do you need the cust of another person having a kate?
I formatted cust partition with ZXC TWRP and nothing happened, I'm on the last build Cardinal-AOSP's and used Google Maps and Maps Here
Edit: I have also a Kate device with lock bootloader

Yes, but without this partition MIUI stock rom will give you a lot of FCs, it can't find locale related data.
You have to unlock your bootloader
Fastboot wipe cust
Fastboot flash cust cust.Img

Hello,
some weeks ago I installed LinegeOS on my Redmi Note 4. I unlocked bootloader and tried flash TWRB but when i reboot my phone to recovery, MI recovery appear. So I somewhere in XDA found that it is normal and I must boot to recovery via terminal using fastboot. So I booted to recovery using this command
Code:
fastboot boot twrp.img
and flashed LineageOS.
Now when I open Settings->Updates (or something like this) and click on Install updates, it just prepare updates, reboot (probably try reboot to recovery) and nothing happen. I found that I can update it manually but I cannot found downloaded updates in my phone and also I am worried that I loose all my data using this way.
So my question is: How can I update my phone without resetting and loosing all data? My current version of LineageOS is 14.01-NIGHTLY. I have Redmi note 4 global version, Snapdragon.
Just go to lineage official downloads site and dwnld latest nightly and then flash manually ...i think open recovery script that alloow automatic flash isn't stable ...so do it manually ....
try erasing the recovery and reflash it.
fastboot erase recovery
fastboot flash recovery recovery(choosen by you or redwolf).img
fastboot erase cache
fastboot reboot

Update your TWRP (3.2.1.0) and update your firmware. There's a thread with different firmwares in the development section

Download fastboot rom
Extract it to folder
Find persist.img file
Copy it to some other place.
Now u need unlocked bootloader to flash persist.img file

I guess I can even without wifi.. I could use sim data to input a mi account.. But it would take some days. I was hoping for a quicker solution. If not then I will do as you say.

No permission need to apply.
Just Turn on sim data
. And Try to add account in developer option. See if can be successfully added in developer option > miunlock status.
Let me know if u getting 20091 error in developer option.
First I flashed persist with fastboot commands. Everything was successful but still the same problem. Then I installed OrangeFox TWRP with fastboot commands. Booted straight up to recovery and flashed the image as you said to persist partition. Selected to reboot to system and stays stucked at MI logo with no loading. Any ideas?

Don't know now since the phone is dead. I will have to flash a firmware. Will tell after I wake up phone with firmware.
Here is something new.. I transfered a .zip firmware to phone and tried to flash with ORangeFOx but nothing happens. I get an error. Checked and the phone can't see the Data partition. Should I flash firmware with edl mode?

Reboot into eRecovery and try to update your phone using option "Download latest version etc...." . It requires good wifi connection.

Tried it, fails.
Have you tried install custom ROM , e.g. caos, losq-224 , alpha-ROM from fastboot? It should work. Make sure to have the stock recovery flash , before booting up the ROM, you will need to perform a factory reset in stock recovery.

IMO you can try to flash stock system.img from fastboot.
In fastboot mode run commands:
fastboot oem get-build-number
fastboot oem get-product-model
fastboot getvar vendorcountry
and post the results.

I am trying to flash the modem.img file from a zenphone 8 device.
Now I can flash the factory modem.img via fastboot but not the zenphone 8 modem.img. I get an error saying that Flashing not allowed for modem partition. Any tips or advice?
Does somebody know a way to convert the file to a sin file and flash it via newflasher?
Cheers, Bentree.
Use fastbootd instead of plain fastboot.
Also:
You shold flash both modem_a and modem_b partitions.
For NTT version, you cannot flash modem in neither fastboot mode nor fastbootd mode.
Till now I only success flash in twrp mode.

Yes, some carrier lock partitions, such as NTT Docomo.
If you bought SO-51B, flash modem partition will success in both fastboot and fastbootd mode, but when you boot to system and check files in path /vendor/firmware_mnt/image, you will find it doesn't take effort.
And for flash mode, you will receive the cms key error.
