Good morning everybody.
I need some help with my kiw-l21. I've got installed CM13 with stock recovery. I have tried to install TWRP recovery but with no success and I want it to be installed on the device but I can't achieve it. I'm doing: adb reboot bootloader --> fastboot flash recovery twrp.img --> fastboot boot twrp.img and in TWRP, reboot -> recovery but I always get the emui stock recovery. In a friend honor 5x new, I did the same steps and twrp is now installed. Why I can't install TWRP in my device?
Thanks you for all!
Is your bootloader unlocked? Looks like eRecovery is flashing back stock one. And how did you manage to install CM with stock recovery, on B350 it has just "Reboot, Wipe data, Wipe cache" options?

Yes, I have bootloader unlocked. To install CM I did fastboot boot twrp.img. The recovery have: "Reboot system now", "Wipe data/factory reset" and "Wipe cache partition"
OK, try this order and give me feedback:
- adb reboot bootloader
- fastboot flash recovery twrp.img
- fastboot reboot
- adb reboot recovery
Mine worked that way with 0 issues.

Try but emui recovery appear after adb reboot recovery.
BTW I have upgrade CM13 to LOS14.1 and now wifi doesn't work and MAC address is like xx:00:00.... all zeros.
Flash twrp directly by using
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img

So I accidentally booted up my device after wiping my ROM (I was going to install CM) and now I can't get back into TWRP to even access my backup. When I hold vol up I go into Huawei's eRecovery, on vol down it goes into the bootloader. I can't seem to get into TWRP anymore and fastboot doesn't seem to have the option to boot into recovery like adb does.
Found the stock ROM that I needed here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-5x/how-to/repository-honor-5x-file-depot-t3328288
can you
Code:
fastboot boot (your twrp.img)
?

I'm not sure what I did but I got into TWRP but after wiping everything from fastboot (because I thought I would try to flash a ROM from there) so now I don't have my backup. Now I'm looking for a lollipop ROM (preferably stock) because I never got this to marshmallow and CM13 isn't flashing.
@BryanTheStrange
you should wipe first, then flash the ROM and GApps from TWRP.
I think you can restore to stock using dload folder method. There is a thread disscussing it.
Hey!
I Have a Kate running latest global developer that i unlocked officially through the mi unlock program.
I have been trying to install TWRP ( unoffical twrp, Alka, coffee) through ADB ( fastboot flash recovery twrp.img) for some days now but i wont work!!
ADB dont displays any errors and says everything finished but when i try to boot to recovery it's still stock xiaomi recovery??
What might be the problem and how do i fix it?
BTW, adb reports that the phone is unlocked (fastboot oem device-info).
Are you trying to boot TWRP straight after flashing it. If your booting the official rom first, then that is restoring stock recovery.
After flashing TWRP, manually boot the device with Vol + and Power button.
Alternatively boot TWRP with "fastboot boot <twrp.img>" and from TWRP reboot to recovery again so you actually boot the version on the device.
the newest dev rom has "feature" to revert your recovery back to stock when you boot the OS. so be prepared. after you flash your twrp, immediately boot to TWRP and wipe /system to install other OS.

THANKS! That was the problem. Now everything works.
My phone: Vodafone Smart E9 (VFD 529) (Android Oreo Go edition)
Bootloader is unlocked, and everytime I boot it says 'Orange State - Device is unlocked and can't be trusted - Booting in 5 seconds'. This is normal I think.
So I booted into fastboot, and typed 'fastboot devices'. It found my device. Then 'fastboot flash recovery recovery.img'. recovery.img is TWRP for VFD 527, but I doubt it's relevant. Flash finished successfully. 'fastboot reboot' back to lock screen, but when I do 'adb reboot recovery' it reboots into the stock recovery, which has options like update from sdcard, update from adb, reboot to bootloader, mount /system, factory reset, clear cache partition and so on. Definately not TWRP.
Can you give me a link to the VFD 527 twrp?
Thanks!!
Paolo
Hello,
My Redmi 5 plus is stuck in MI Logo, i tried TESTPOINT and flash MIUI 10 - MIUI 11, Global, Beta, Chinese, all sucessful but the phone still stuck in Mi Logo. I can acess fastboot but the phone is locked, so i dont know what i can do to restore the phone.
Someone can help me? I searched the forum, found people with the same problem as me but no solution.
Thx
There is solution.
1. Enter fastboot and Unlock bootloader (using the same process mi unlock tool)
2. Flash OrangeFox recovery using Minimal ADB and fastboot
3. Format data Clean flash any aosp based custom rom (wipe cache, dalvik, system, data)
4. Let the room finish Boot and then reboot to recovery again
5. Then clean flash MIUI using Orangefox (if you wanted to flash it in the first place)
It should Boot now.
Is there any way for an official bootloader unlock except for boxes?

You have to use official mi unlock tool for unlocking bootloader. I don't understand what you mean by "boxes".

I'm trying exactly these steps but seems it goes bootloop aswell, doesnt boot both custom rom and MIUI.
I'm flashing with orangefox the MIUI.zip, not the fastboot, if i'm wrong let me know.
did you format data? it's not the same as wiping. it's under manage partitions in orangefox. it'll delete your internal storage

Yes, i formatted data and reboot to recovery to make partitions set-up before rebooting to system.
I'm trying again today something i missed. I'll keep checking this post.
Detailed process:
1) Wipe cache, system, data, dalvik
2) Format Data
3) Reboot to recovery (to make partitions set-up)
4) Flash my aosp rom
5) Reboot to recovery
6) Reboot system (and getting bootloop)
And i repeat the process for MIUI rom.
Update: I managed to solve this, as you can read here: forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-5/help/redmi-note-5-plus-vince-bootloop-stuck-t4044219
Solved
1) Flash TWRP or OrangeFox (i did it with OF)
2) Clean Flash any custom rom, probably still bootloop
3) Reboot recovery
4) Wipe everything (dalvik, data, system, cache), also format data (format ≠ wipe)
5) Reboot recovery
6) Flash your MIUI rom
7) Reboot recovery
8) Repeat step #4
9) Reboot recovery
10) Flash again your MIUI rom
11) Reboot recovery
12) Flash persist.img file in persist partition, you can find this file in your fastboot MIUI rom downloaded at https://c.mi.com/miuidownload/index
13) Reboot system
14) Wait a lot, take a cup of tea.

Hi, I'm trying to flash OOS rom on my phone, Curtana. But I got an error when flash it.
The Terminal facing System: (REMOTE: Partition not found).
And I'm stuck at fastboot, can't not boot system or to recovery.
Thanks for your help.

I have found a solution. I flashed stock rom via MiFlash to have fastbootd (not fastboot). Then reboot to Bootloader and type 'fastboot reboot fastboot' to boot to fastbootd. Then I can flash any system.img I want.
Another method, but I've try yet.
1. Unlock bootloader
2. Flash LOS recovery
3. Boot bootloader
In CMD
4. Enter: 'fastboot reboot fastboot'
5. Then you will see 'fastbootd', enter 'fastboot flash system system.img' (system.img = gsi img)
6. enter 'fastboot reboot recovery'
In recovery
7. go to factory reset
8. select format data/factory reset then format data
9. then select reboot system
