is anyone know why my pic always automatically flip horizontal when taking with front cam?
it happen on all rom, I've try lineage13/14.1, RR574/580, slimroms7
I already reflash to stock miui, global/china stable 8110 and some global dev rom
there's option on stock miui, setting>system apps>camera>mirror front camera>off/on
but still my pic taken with front cam flipped horizontal
there's one thing I don't understand
every time I flash this phone to stock miui, I always choose clean all and lock
but after boot, bootloader still unlocked
2 months ago I unlock this phone officially, never try unofficial way
now I'm on slim7, maybe there's a way to fix this problem

Hi all. I just got the FFC for the Vibrant in the mail after 3 weeks (awesome!) and I just opened up the phone, installed it according to all the instructions, made sure that it snapped in, but now my phone is not detecting either a rear or front camera! I'll try a new ROM, but I'm sure it's not that and I'm POSITIVE that I did not harm the new camera assembly. I took great care of it. I'll also try flashing the FFC_Mod.zip via CwM and see if it works. Will update once I've tried all of this. Anyone have any other ideas as to what's wrong?
even if the rom dosent support it should at least detect the rear camera.....

That's what's freaking me out!!!
Ok the FFC_Mod.zip didn't work. Let's see what re-flashing the ROM does.
Hmm well what rom are you on?

I was on Revolution ROM 2.0 (2.3.4 JVP) when I first tried it out. No luck, even after flashing FFC_Mod.zip. So, I swapped the new camera out with the old one just to see what would happen. The stock camera works, but the new GT-I9000 camera wont work in either case, whether it's the rear cam or the FFC. I checked all over the new camera. Except for the FFC attachment (obviously), EVERY little detail of that camera is the same as the old one, so I agree with you, the problem is most likely a software issue, but I'll still do one last test of it. I'll go and try a ROM and kernel that's proven to work, and if it doesn't, then I know that it's the camera itself and not something software based. I'll update this post once I'm done.
Hi all,
Well...i bought phone 3 days ago and everything was working perfectly on stock rom. Then like most of us I wanted to root phone and install custom in this case Litening rom....after that my camera is not working anymore, when I start camera its stays black and after few sec i got camera error.
I have try to install few other roms like villianrom, miui darkys etc but none help,I even try to put some diferent kernels and modems but same.
Ive noticed in some other threads that can be issue with camera firmware,in my case I dont have it in samsung apps for update.
My curently camera firmware is SCE009 and if somebody has some other like the latest one SCE002 or at least tell me where I can download I will be more than thankfull cause i think this is my only and last chance to fix camera and its little frustrating when you buy phone like this and then something is not working properly.
Thank you,Mat
Oh, really sad to hear that. That's why I hate flashing this and that.

Why bump an old thread? To answer your question, try flashing the hacked camera. Or take pictures in better light.

Hi,
I bought a S2 a month ago. The phone is rooted and I currently have a CM Rom (the official one for the i9100 - 10.1.3.i9100 - Android 4.2.2).
The camera always worked fine but after a while the front camera ceased working.
I can the front camera with no problem whatsoever but as soon as I try to use the front camera it does work, the app freezes and says: "The gallexy has stopped bla bla bla..."
I went and searched the web, lots of guys get this fixed by clearing the data/cache or whatever, but nothing has been working for me...
I tried a different ROM, making a totally clean install - but still nothing - I also have already tried a bunch of updates im the original CM Rom (RC, Stable and nightly) and I never get the camera to work nor does it work a single time...
Can you guys help me?
Thanks.
Install another free camera application like camera 360 and see if it is working with that or not?

Nope, only the custom app gives me that error. All other apps arent just able of providing an image - (Skype, Camera Zoom Fx etc..)

May be this thread will help you.

What a really old thread... but yeah, the apk provided there can be installed but when I open it forces close saying the app is crashed.
I've now went to 4.3.1 (latest version of CM) and updated the Gaaaps to the correct version... the problem is still there.
I see this problem on lots of different threads and lots of this people just seem to accept that they have no front camera anymore, lol...
...also been looking for a way to install Samsung Apps on my S2 but it seems to be impossible on a non-stock ROM.
Going all the way back to STOCK and them trying to do something about the camera firmware (trough Samsung Apps) and then going to CM again is something which I'm reticent to do, mostly because I don't even know if this is really a firmware problem...
Back to Stock...

So... I went all the way back to STOCK... I now can input the codes discussed on that thread
Cam FW Ver: SBEF02
Phone FW Ver: TBEC28
It looks like this module has a really bad reputation, still it bothers me... Most people on that post complain about pink dots, lag, shuttering etc... I'm only lacking on a front camera... The focus on the front camera was slow sometimes, yes. But most of the times I had no problem making a movie or taking a picture...
I had a front camera and now I dont...
WTF!?
Any insights and/or advise?
BTW I tested *#0*# (a so called LCD TEST appears) and went I try Front cam it says: "camera failed"...
I picked this phone over the front camera... I'm seriously mad.
When you go back to stock firmware did you wipe data after flashing using odin?

Yeah I did. I had access to the front camera on all roms: since stock and then into Cyanogen... When I upgraded to the latest version I also had no problem using the front cam but one day it just went dead.
I've already changed ROM/Kernel a bunch of times so I can pretty much rule out software (?)
I'm really not in the mood to go to Samsung and have all the trouble of losing my phone for a month (in the best case scenario) and having to unroot it and re-stock it again...
The front camera module is a really cheap part and my next step would be to open the damned phone and just retry to reassemble the module it self...
From there I'll order a new one (if I find that my current one is properly assembled and just malfunctioning)...
Am I going too fast? Is there any way to completely rule out a software issue?
Thanks
PS. I need to point out that the camera didn't stopped working "after a ROM change"... It actually stopped working DURING a rom (CM official nightly).
I'm on Temasek's unofficial CM11 rom, and I have this issue which has been bugging me since half a year ago when I made the jump from rooted stock roms to AOSP roms.
Whenever I take a picture using either the front or back camera, the width of the saved picture would be so much bigger compared to the image I'll see before I take the picture, causing it to have more objects in the final picture. It's really irritating because I'll never be able to take a proper picture without having objects and people photobombing.
Does anyone else have this problem?
yeah, i'm getting the same thing on OMNI rom

Finally found someone else having the same problem! Did you ask around back then for the solution?
same
I had a slimier problem that when I use the camera and set the pic as a home wallpaper, it becomes so much bigger and couldn't modify the size.
Issue has been solved after wiping everything and re-install the same rom. So I would suggest to wipe your phone and install the rom again.
Not a rom issue..i tried switching between roms but nothing seemed to work.
i've asked in the rom thread, see what others have to say:

That's a known problem in all aosp/Google stock ROMs, included n5 stock Rom have this problem.
The problem is that the camera don't have the black frames up and down to fit the real aspect ratio of the camera to view finder
For me is a annoyed bug, but seems that no lot off people are disappointed with it because there's no fix for it
Hope someone with more android knowledge could help us

Thanks, didn't know it was a known problem. It is indeed really annoying...
Hi. I just got my redmi 5 plus global. I am not a miui lover. I prefer AOSP over everything. So I head some custom rom causes screen burn ins. Why its happening? And how to prevent it?
Nope, it does not. The burn in problem was with a leaked MIUI oreo rom directly from xiaomi. Problem was, brightness sensor was broken on it. Other LOS or AOSP oreo based roms don't have this issue.
Yeah, well, I never flashed that leaked MIUI ROM you said but some ROMs and my phone got the burn in effect
The thing is u wont get burn in issue juts before flashing just read somewhere on telegram and xda about its history :good:
Afaik as I understood there's been some driver that caused the burn in, that driver is now again removed in every ROM, so there's no burn-in issue anymore!
Burn in, third screen
i got seriuos burn in too near simcad t and near volume buttons, on my third screen, i had on previous two also, so i dont know, what is cause of it all, i tried stock, custom roms, i like to stick to custom, and im on aosp extended. im going to replace the screen once more, but need to keno hoe to prevente it to happen to this one too, please help.
