Hi. I just got my redmi 5 plus global. I am not a miui lover. I prefer AOSP over everything. So I head some custom rom causes screen burn ins. Why its happening? And how to prevent it?
Nope, it does not. The burn in problem was with a leaked MIUI oreo rom directly from xiaomi. Problem was, brightness sensor was broken on it. Other LOS or AOSP oreo based roms don't have this issue.
Yeah, well, I never flashed that leaked MIUI ROM you said but some ROMs and my phone got the burn in effect
The thing is u wont get burn in issue juts before flashing just read somewhere on telegram and xda about its history :good:
Afaik as I understood there's been some driver that caused the burn in, that driver is now again removed in every ROM, so there's no burn-in issue anymore!
Burn in, third screen
i got seriuos burn in too near simcad t and near volume buttons, on my third screen, i had on previous two also, so i dont know, what is cause of it all, i tried stock, custom roms, i like to stick to custom, and im on aosp extended. im going to replace the screen once more, but need to keno hoe to prevente it to happen to this one too, please help.

Hi,
i got a problem on all Cyanogenmod based roms i tested so far (CM13, CM12, Slimrom, Bliss).
With all of these roms my phone (L21) behaves realy weird, it randomly locks or unlocks the screen and lets it flash up a few times.
This night it must have turned on the screen and drained the battery completly.
So my question, does anyone else have this issue? And what could be causing it, on MIUI-based roms this behavior didn't happen to me.
Thank you for your help.

When you install CM ROM, you are supposed to read up all informations, instructions, bugtracks from the guy or the team who created it.
You should also assume to encounter such bugs and issues when you use Cyanogenmod.
EMUI based ROM or any other ROM supplied by manufacturers are created by Pro devs paid and instructed by them and as they have more hardware informations & better drivers.
CM Rom are created by volunteer devs on their spare time.
Better ask your questions to the CM communities and in the CM threads.
Would you ask your butcher why your pancake tastes so bad ???
That's it !

Sorry, but i'm not attacking the devs at all... so keep cool.
I just want to know if i'm alone with this problem. Maybe it is hardware based, then i need to know and contact the huawei-support for a reclaim.
Hi guys,
I'm sorry cause asking this, especially cause this question has been asked manytimes and I have read several subjects too, but I didn't strict answer I'm looking for.
I recently bought nexus 9 (WiFi only model) 16gigs,
I unlocked bootloader, I rooted the device and now I want to debloat it.
I'm in dilema weither I should just have it rooted and debloated on 7.1.1. android, or should I use some of the custom roms around.
I'm aiming to use tablet mainly for gaming. I have servral games I'd like to play listed:
Marvel Future Fight
DC Legends
Star Wars Galaxy Heroes
Star Wars Force arena
and few others but i take it that if those can run fine, all others would too.
Also can someone point me to a safelist of application that can be removed if answer to first question is to just leave it rooted and debloat.
Thank you a lot for help.
Cheers.

For the best performance, install a custom ROM. As for debloat, ... It's a Nexus, what bloat?
But if you want minimal, I would say flash slimrom and the smallest gapps package that fits your needs. Or go gapps free and use micro g instead.
Performance on stock is pretty bad (really bad), but a custom ROM will fix it for the n9. When I say bad on stock, I mean opening more than 1 tab in chrome, it has to reload the page every time switching between the two. Same with having a couple apps open.
Fortunately, most of the ROMs out there take care of all that.

How would someone find official roms? I used pure nexus rom thinking that is official but i guess i was wrong. I not to big on roms knowing. They all looks the same to me I just care to be able to uninstall builtin apps i don't use and that everything works fine.
This one i use now had a problem common with nexus 9, white blocks and anoying skrechy sound, but i read somehwere it is fixed by unhoking battery, cleaning pins and putting it back together. I tried it and I didn't have problems since then. I drained battery to 2% no problem, before it was impossible. I have no idea was it ROM issue or what.

That's a common hardware issue for n9, not a ROM issue.

But it's safe to say that it's fixed now. Everyone was talkin about disconnecting battery, and clean a bit and connecting again.
it seems such a easy troll solution to this "very anoying and hard problem that even HTC didn't solve", and i did it and it really did the job (knock on a wood ). I've been draining battery to the end for 3 days now, nothing ever like that happend ever again. before it wasn't even a day when i didn't experienced that problem.

Good to hear. That usually is the fix for that.
Please, just to confirm, is this "image-volantis-n9f27l" official ROM or it's custom ROM?
I also use this bootloader : "bootloader-flounder-3.50.0.0143" since other ones didn't work for me.
I was with support trying to solve issue of Device restarting every time I install new app or update app, and while trying to clear cache partition, it gone to my device not wanting to boot. so i had to factory reset, and it still won't start android in full. so i have to reflash ROM. I guess.
I'm kinda lost now cause i don't know what to do.
As said i just want for my device to be rooted so i can delete all apps i don't need and change launcher (deleting existing one - well i don't know if it's smart or not. i figure why having two launcers when i will use only one).
And i want to play games and use apps without it failing on me all the time.
As the title says. I just purchased this H830 last week for under 200 USD. Tried to stay with the stock firmware for a week and decided that I couldn't stand LG UX (was a Nexus 5 user for 3 years before this). So I began my quest to flash TWRP and custom ROM. Unfortunately, all of them suffered from random reboots. Seems like it was video related since it always happened when I was scrolling through YouTube or Instagram feed. Sometimes, when opening a site with video ads.
I have tried 3 ROMs so far: Unofficial AOSPA port by sidesick, official RR and Lineage.
Anyone can help me with this? I've been searching the forums so far and couldn't find anything related to this or at least the solution to this problem.
Just out of interest, have you tried stock with a custom launcher like nova for instance? I am not familiar with the nexus ui but would a custom launcher at least replace some visuals you dislike?
Tbh the interface isn't that bad..nowadays I always stay stock..main reason is the camera quality drops alot on custom roms

On this phone I've found the stock ROM to be the best (it's the only phone I would say that about). I've tried a couple of Lineage Oreo based ROMs and wasn't impressed - despite running an unofficial Lineage 15.1 on an HTC One that is extremely good. The Nimax ROM for this phone is not bad, but again the stock Nougat is hard to beat.
Hopefully when (if) the official Oreo update comes out, it will be stable and even better.
HI
Hello kwakaka,
The random reboots can also be caused by quote:
Enabling ADB Debugging in development setting can cause a kernel crash. If you are quick and press OK right away, it will take and still crash. On reboot, it will be enabled.

This isn't a damaged light sensor issue, it it is an annoying "feature" of eui for which there is no toggle. It's a more extreme version of the auto-contrast adjustment feature that used to annoy everyone in Lineage Oreo. As far as I know there's nothing that can be done about it, although it is less noticeable if you maximize screen brightness.

Oh thank you so much to answer me. So there is nothing wrong with my hardware and all EUI issues face with this problem?.. There are lots of developer that make amazing things for our phone. I'm sure they'd help us to switch this off.. Because when this is on it's not possible to view an image with its true colors.. You can imagine how is it annoying while using camera app..
Yes, I also wish someone could turn off this annoying feature of eui. It looks horrible. If anyone can help us it's probably @arielaco or @CrisBalGreece but it doesn't seem like anyone is interested in modding eui nowadays. Understandable that most devs are focused on 9.0 Pie ROMs rather than ancient MM eui, and there are some very good O and P ROMs, but some small issues (eg microphone) and poor battery life usually bring me back to eui.

I'm exactly in the same position like you. But there is something that I don't understand.. This issue was exist all the time? I use this phone more than 2 years and I don't remember this issue was exist before.. Also I don't see many users who report this issue.. So are you sure that some old EUI ROMs or EUI vendor ROMs have this issue?..

Yeah, always been an issue with every version of eui that I have used over the last two years, though it's usually only when outside in bright sunlight. I even asked @Cuoco92 to try and fix it, but nothing came of it. And as I said, even Lineage 15.1 had a similar auto-contrast bug at first. But I think @ThE_MarD was able to fix it, or maybe Lineage did upstream.

I fixed it for custom ROMs which is what I work on... Plus, LeEco have a different implementation than custom ROMs, so it could be any LeEco added app or binary... I also don't really work on EUI ROM as I always have my hands full with LineageOS and family stuff, etc so I don't want to stretch myself thin and try too much at once.
I'd recommend searching your device for any PPD binary or anything that seems to do with post processing as any of those could be causing the issue and then try to delete them one at a time. Worst case if EUI ROM crashes? Just reinstall it and it'll restore itself.
Worst case scenario you still can't find a fix? I'd recommend repairing your hardware.
I am using a ROM called COSP, it's an aosp ROM and in the settings, there is an option that enables burn in protection by shifting pixels overtime. Now I am wondering whether stock ROMs have this feature by default because I don't see this option in the setting.

Yes, especially improved on latter stock Oreo. But was even touted on early stock firmware (except for store demo mode). It's nothing you have to enable. Why would you need to say you don't want burn in? Or why would you give people the option to turn off?

I was just wondering, because the used US998 that I just bought and recently rooted have slight burn in. Made me wonder how was that possible if stock roms have burn-in protection. BTW thanks for all the help in my previous threads.

Early Oreo and Nougat didn't have quite as agressive burn in prevention. AOD screen in particular now moves quite a bit.
Also we've seen burn in on store open box models because they were in store demo mode for months, then sold off.
I've had three of these phones used my by, my wife, my mom daily since end of 2017 and no burn in. All on stock ROM.
I'm not sure LOS custom ROMs had burn in protection the first few months or maybe your previous owner didn't have it enabled on custom ROM?
