MMS for group messaging on Google Messenger App, T-mobile, E5823 - Xperia Z5 Compact Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I just bought a used E5823 on swappa, didn't know it was the international version until I received it. So I have t-mobile but the google messenger app doesn't have the setting the use MMS for group messaging. Weirdly the option is available for hangouts (when using hangouts for SMS/MMS), and the newly updated Google Voice app also does group messaging. Is it something with my APN settings? I'm fine using hangouts, but it's just bugging me that I can't figure it out.

[Q] Difference between the email, messaging and gmail apps on Atrix

Hi Folks,
I have been using an iPhone 3G till now and just made the switch to Android. Just received my Atrix today and spent time getting familiar with Android/Motoblur and setting things up.
Now, I am really confused between these three apps
1. Email
2. Messaging
3. Gmail
From the time I've spend playing around, I know that Email and Messaging look pretty much the same, except that messaging also has text messages. So why do we have these two separate apps? Then there is Gmail. If I have a gmail account, should I add it to the Motoblur accounts or set it up with the Gmail app? Why are there so many overlapping apps?
Basically all I want is a single app where I can check all my emails from different accounts just like iPhone's native email app.
Please be easy on me as I am an android newbie Thanks in advance!
- Gmail is Google's gmail app that supports multiple gmail accounts
- Email is Moto's email app that supports different types of email accounts (integrated with MotoBlur)
- Messaging is Moto's text and MMS app

"Messaging" actually integrates texts, GMail, and the MotoBlur Email client. There is also a "Text Messaging" app that just handles texts. If you use the "Messaging" widget, you can even get FB messages on it.
Oops, I stand corrected. Was thinking about the captivate's Messaging.

To answer your other question, if you want to use the Moto "Messaging" with Universal Inbox then all you have to do is go to Accounts and select Google at the bottom and deselect "Sync Email" and then just setup your Gmail through Moto's Email client and you can get all your emails (just once) in the universal inbox. If you use both then you will receive redundant notifications for your Gmail.

SMS show up in email inbox

I'm runing office 2010 on my business laptop and have a made an exhange mail account on my SG3.
Works fine, but apart from email I also get my text messages in the e-mail inbox. I'd prefer to get the sms' in my messages inbox only, but they show up in both inboxes. I didn't happen on my old HTC Desire HD, so I guess it's related to the SG3. I've been trailing the settings but I cannot find any setting that will disable it.
It's driving my crazy, so help will be highly appreciated!
Which App are you using for SMS?
GO SMS supports WebSMS which requires activating to support Web SMS send/recieve SMS.

I'm using stock messaging and e-mail apps.
My work email is also setup on this phone. While on the main page of your inbox,go to settings. There is a checkbox there that says Sync SMS uncheck it and you should be all set

This is a cool feature of MS Exchange and Samsung
Hi.
This feature is brought to you by Bill Gates and his gang.
The newest Samsung devices support this feature and it also gives you the possibility to send sms's from your desktop (Outlook client).
If this is annoying someone it can be turned off from you email settings.
- open your email app
- menu -> settings
- click your account name
- scroll to the last option and uncheck it
I hope this helps!
Thanks a lot
Looks like I get to keep my sanity after unchecking sms sync!
Big thank you guys!

[Q] Make Google now send texts from Hangouts

Any way to make hangouts the default app to send SMS for google now? It seems it will only use the default messaging app even though I have hangouts selected as my SMS app.
I have been a google voice user since the grand central days. We used to be able to send an text from google now and it would use google voice to send the text. Seems now that we can not send a text with our google voice number via google now. Kind of makes my moto360 a bit sad.
I have reset my default apps, I don't get a popup to use hangouts instead of messaging. Any help would be appreciated. All I want to do is use my google voice number to send texts from google now. I'm on a MotoX, but my Nexus 5 does the same thing.

[Q] How do I delete VoiceMails in HangOuts?

I have set up HangOuts to merge both my SMS and GoogleVoice. If I receive a voice mail from a contact, it gets threaded into my SMS conversation with that person. How do I delete the voice mail and not the entire conversation thread?
Thanks
GH
This is relatively easy. It cannot be done through the hangouts app. You must do it on the google voice website OR google voice app. Delete it in google voice and it disappears in hangouts. Also, if you delete the hangout, ALL voicemail and SMS will be gone (with no trash can to recover them from). So, use GV to delete voicemails and use gmail "chats" to selectively delete SMS.

[Q] What services are needed by Hangouts to receive Google Voice message?

I disabled a bunch of services months ago, but forgot to test hangouts because I don't use gv messaging a lot. I just found I can no longer receive message in hangouts (SMS is OK). Are there services needed by hangouts to receive gv messages? My phone is samsung s5 with lollipop.
