Hello i have a completely stock S6 Edge (925f)
Sometimes i have a battery drain even when i let the phone stand by, it drops some % of battery.
I have installed only the general social media apps like IG FB Whatsapp .
Any idea what should i check ?
maybe there is a problem like some of s6 edges has really battery problems. there is a lot of people who gets 5-7h of screen on time altough there is peoples who gets 1-2h of screen on time like me. and my stand by time is also too bad. i'm thinking of getting a new phone or changing the battery. not sure what to do.
may I suggest installing a custom rom and kernel and maybe you can achieve standby stats like so....

Software:
Try preforming factory reset and wipe cache(if you haven't allready).Turn on the phone in safe mode(power off, hold VOLdown and press power button untill it shows the logo, then release power button but hold VOLdown untill it fully turns on...it should say Safe Mode in bottom left corner) then observe if the problem persists because safe mode will isolate third-party apps as cause of battery drain.
Hardware:
1.Battery is on the way out so it should be replaced
2.Charging port assembly has some issues...had people bring me s6 and s6 edge with same problem as yours and after battery replacement it turned out to be charging flex assembly. It charges normally but it causes battery drain(10-15$ if you know how to replace it yourself)
If you have stock OS flashing custom OS won't fix it.If you have custom OS the OS itself could be the problem.
I hope I help, and I hope my english is fine

Hello XDA.
Right imma cut right to the chase. THis has happened about 10 times now on this specific phone/battery combo, which is my second S2 overall, and its gotten to the point now where i am wondering if its a fault with the handset in general, or specifically my one, and also if its happened to others, if its worth getting a new battery to solve it?
All that happens is sometimes, when the phone shuts down unexpectedly (sometimes when in my pocket the power button gets held down), i turn it back on, and it has as little as 9% battery life being displayed, but over the hours, it gradually rises, without being charged.
Any help would be much appreciated, i did try and search, but i dont know exactly what to search for with stuff like this so i got some very irrelevant stuff, like wakelocks and stuff.
(This isnt a deal breaker, i just wanna know if its a problem with my phone, the battery, the S2 in general, or the OS)
Thanks for the help!
(Just to clarify, this happened on gingerbread too)
Better battery Stats app and XDA thread is your starting point .
Test over two days to see if any obvious drain ,
None then factory reset the phone restore stock firmware clear custom rom counter and take to service centre .

Hi all,
recently I flashed Ressurection Remix v3.8 with Siyah kernel 3.0.15
it worked pretty well but from time to time my phone would freeze up, get really warm and reboot (or not, and possibility to turn it on is to take the battery out and turn it back on)
after the phone is switched back on, the battery goes to 1% or 3 % and switches off quite quickly.
when I plug it in to charge it almost immediately goes back to the original battery charge
does anyone recognize this problem?
or if not any ideas whether it is an issue with the rom, kernel, radio or something else?
many thanks

What is the real version of your Siyah kernel? because Siyah 3.0.x can never boot RR 3.8!

I recognise your problems.
1. "The phone will freeze up" may be caused by some user unstable settings on the kernel, or the general instability of your ROM + the kernel combo, or maybe you are using a conflicting script.
- Next time your phone freeze up, just hold down the power button for about 8-10 seconds instead of removing the battery.
- to solve this problem,
a. Reset all your kernel settings to default
b. remove any other scripts that might be running on your phone.
c. try to track what activity normally trigger this freeze up
d. If the problem persists, you can try another kernel.
2. "after the phone is switched back on, the battery goes to 1% or 3 % and switches off quite quickly". this one may be caused by the fact that your fuel gauge chip is not yet settled.
- to solve this one,
a. charge you phone,
b. Install and run Extweaks, under misc, select Reset Fuel Gauge chip.
c. Exit extweaks and leave your phone untouched for about 1hr to allow it to settle down.
Thanks, I'll give it a try!

hmmm didn't quite work:
1.
- reset the kernel
- removed all init.d scripts
- no idea how to do that :-s
- going to try this now (any suggestions by any chance?)
2.
- couldn't use extweaks as my phone would switch off before I could open it
fun trivia... my battery level went to -1 when I switched my phone back on... darnit

Did your battery run out of charge?
how many hours/mins can your phone work on battery when idle and when used?
You can try out a friend's battery and test if your problem still persists.

I don't think so as it happens at all different kinds of percentages, and when the phone restarts its mostly between 1% and 3%
on a single full charge when idle, the battery goes about 11 hrs
unfortunately none of my friends have a samsung - the battery of their iphone is not removable (... ok, lets not go there)
I did notice when it does happens, I am almost always using my phone (playing music, surfing, facebook etc), there is not really a particular app that is running when it happens (well maybe in the background)
also, about 5 seconds before it switches off my screen flickers, not sure if that is related (but I'm pretty sure it is)
thanks
My phone has been doing the exact same thing, screen flickers a few seconds then switches off, then the battery level has fallen ridiculously on reboot. Did you ever get to the bottom of this?

I bought a new battery over the weekend, until now, the days and still nothing weird has happened
Maybe as jokesy mentioned, try a battery of a friend or buy a new one (they're not that expensive)
Good luck!

i have xperia sola i am facing reboot issue in it. cell phone restarts randomly. but more oftentimes when the battery is 60 to 50 percent and also when my battery is in 35 to 20 percent can someone tell me is it battery problem or software problem or any hardware problem? i have falshed many roms but no one solve the problem
If you had this problem before and after flashing, it will be hardware problem then i think.

Try this:
Install stock firmware, firmware reset, press power button and volume up button (it will vibrate once, you keep pressing and then it will vibrate 3 times and reboot). When it reboots, install Battery Calibration from market, fully charge it and when it says 100% open the application and calibrate it. Then stop charging the phone, let it run without charging it at all, until battery goes dead on its own. Don't charge it for any second at all. Then you can start seeing if its the battery or something else.
Also, please don't install any apps you have for the testing to see if it's some faulty application eating all your battery, or use better battery stats to check for wakelocks but i suggest you do that AFTER you see if it's a battery fault or not.
Switch to 2G mode also, don't use 3G for the testing.
What's your brightness level set to?
What kind of use do you do every day?
I did these things after my battery getting dead in less than 15 hours after 2-3 flashed roms and well it just died now after 1 day and 20-21 hours.
Used it for 2-3 hours in total calls, some wifi use of installing apps, email and small stuff like that, that i often do.
It was always on 2G while i was doing all that, data enabled always even on screen off and syncing on as well.
Normally i switch to 3G when i "need" it or leave it all day long when i know i will charge it when i go to sleep, and use it more than that. It can last alright for a day even then, with heavy use which i think is alright with the ****ty battery technology we still use nowadays.
I don't know if it's battery or software related but if you follow my instructions you can check both.
Personally i believe it's some app causing that havoc.
main problem
my problem is not battery draining i am facing reboot issue. now i have flashed a brand new stock Rom and then unplug the cable when it is at 100% when battery comes to 98% it freezes for 3 to 5 seconds and then it reboot automatically but sometimes it just freezes and shut down

Guys, some problem in the phone of a friend of mine.
The battery icone near the clock start to blink, and the battery have a drain... The duration is 8h max.
He had reset the phone, change the battery, micro sd, charger and still the same.
Anyone have or had the same problem?
Stock rom, in 4.0.3, there is no 4.0.4 yet for vodafone portugal.
Tks
no one with this problem?
I am Portuguese and currently have the same problem!
Could you check his battery stats in definitions?
Mine says "0s in battery", I tried several ROM's and other batteries as well.
Does he get "Bateria desligada" some times?
Look: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UhA4qxP8_VU
Anyway, I am testing Die Hard Battery Calibrator which so far didn't make changes.
Cheers
dealextreme, gotta love them koreans!
you're saying that that non-official battery works better that stock samsung? i recall seeing 1800 mah....
still.....bettetbatterystats might help to identify the drain source of the device.
if nothing funny shows up...and you already travelled thru different ROMs...than we might be talking hardware or callibration, and you guys dont want that.
from sii xda-ded
It was working at that moment, of course my battery only lasted 3 months (chinese)
Still the original one is ****ed up as well so its a hardware problem!
Hey... he said that if the phone isnt charging it still has the information. If it take and replace the battery the phone turn on without pressing power button.
In battery stats he can see everything, battery %, all processes, everything normal.
He have 4.0.3 and u ?

I am running Biftor 4.7 but its nothing to do with software. I've tried over 20 ROM's and still happens
Purchasing a new battery won't help either, if he has the phone's warranty make him go to Samsung Support, if he doesn't try to find stores in Coimbra that fix smartphones and request them to check the battery/usb connections, you will probably ending up buying a new usb connector/connection.
Cheers
flash original rom, pack it up and send it away and pretend to be mad at the guy who sold it to you.
works like a charm.
I was using my phone normally yestarday night, reading whatsapp messagges...then i had a freeze and no reason by touching screen and pressing physical button.
Tried a long press on power button and rebooted but stucked on 1st boot logo....tried another reboot but the phone didn't show the logo, and further more I cannot go in download mode and recovery.
I'm on 4.4.4 ,rooted..slim saber and gustavo kernel.
Any solution? or have I to get a new phone?
did you try to take the battery out for a moment to be sure that your phone is off, or maybe another battery? freezing may take a lot of power, so as booting the phone, so it can drain all the energy out of your battery.

tried to take out battery and no reason..also tried while carching and many hours later..but nothing to do..i feel the phone warm on the back side ,neither the charging icon appear..it seems to be definitely dead
I guess that some part got damaged, doesn't sound like a software problem...
The motherboard is gone..if I change it,can I restore all my data from the device (i mean not sdcard abviously) ?
