Can the USB port be repaired/replaced? - Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Questions & Answers

It appears to be damaged, I'm not getting any charge after trying numerous different cables and chargers. I'm confident it is a hardware issue.

Ah, I'm on Kate.
So just to be clear, if the USB port is broken, there is NOTHING I can do and the phone is essentially dead?

You can looking for it at aliexpress or ask your local mobile phone service . Maybe it's possible to repair .

I took it to a local repair shop, asked them to repair it, returned 2 hours later and paid £15. That was 3 months ago and it's still working fine now.

broken usb port

Does anyone know where to send a sony xperia x10a for repair The usb port is broken Its rooted reckon be safe to send to SE
Where you bought it?
The same thing happened to me, i just contacted the ones who sold it to me and said that it wouldnt charge, and they fixed it. (That is actually a problem with the Xperia)
So my advice is: Contact the people who sold it to you, and say it wont charge

Hi,
I have the same problem. But when I sent back my x10 mi-December to SE, I got it back 2 weeks later without repair. The said that the usb connector is broken and it's not covered by the warranty. Now, I have contacted my vendor directly and I am waiting for their answer.
The usb problems seems very common with the x10. If the vendor won't repair the phone, I will try to take legal action against them and SE. I have already contacted a government service here in France and they told me that they should repair it.
Is there some else who managed to get his phone repaired?

GS3 turned off and wont boot

Mods - please move if in incorrect forum.
I was charging my GS3 and after unplugging it, I proceded to turn tethering on, and then put it in my pocket for 5 seconds. I took it out and it had turned off by itself. I cant turn the GS3 back on, either by the power button or using recovery mode. I have tried removing battery for a minute and then holding the power button for 20 seconds but no luck. Nothing at all happens when i plug the charger in, and I have left it in for 30 minutes and the device still wont boot.
Can anybody sugest what I can do to boot the device?
I have had no previous problems like this and im running stock firmware with no root. Im using a mac and not partitioned the drive to install windows and then odin, but I can do so if required.
What firmware are you using in this phone ? (Number if you can find it).
What is the phone ? Galaxy S3 International (GT-I9300) with 16GB inside ?
Perhaps a Sudden Death Symdrom for you with a total death...

First try another charged battery, yours may have just failed. Also check the battery terminals aren't bent or broken.
If it is still dead with a known good battery then looks like a warranty repair is required.
I cant find out the firmware unless I can get back on the phone :/ Yes its an I9300...
The bttery, I will try and find another GS3 owner but I dont think I can find any. Ill have a look into the thread also thanks for the info

I dont understand what that means? I installed an official firmware from on here 7 months ago when I left the UK and have not done anything to my phone since then.

Some device (Galaxy S3 with 16GB of internal storage memory) have a problem with the memory chip. So, if you are running a Jellybean 4.1.2 firmware, samsung have fix the bug and you are cover (so it's not a SDS problem).
But if you phone have an old firmware, you may be affected by this trouble. If it's your case, the unique solution is to put your phone on a repair center.
first, try a different battery. if that fails - send it to service for a motherboard replacement

Ive tried using a different battery and that doesnt seem to work either. The other GS3 works perfectly fine with my battery inside which suggests its a problem with my handset...
How can i find a dealer to send my unit to? I used to flash custom ROMs to the device but went back to stock 7 months ago when I left the UK to travel Australia, and did not reset the binary counter so it wont be covered by warranty
Since its dead they can't see binary counter. Best bet, send it to friend in uk for samsung repair...
I assume you have some sort of electronic copy of a receipt?

Ive currently got my mum looking for the physical receipt. I could try and get an electronic proof of useage from Vodafone who I bought the phone from but problably not a "receipt".
Dont really want t send my phone back to the UK, it wil be expensive and Im not sure when im returning home, so it may be quicker/cheaper to either take home myself or to try get it sorted here :/

If it's a contract phone, contact vodafone directly, probably won't need a receipt.
Is shipping a small package that expensive? Cheaper than a motherboard I bet

Yeah its a contract phone so thats good news
Shipping my phone would be expensive as I would have to have buy insurance, maybe $20 or something?

Cheaper than £150 GBP / $250 AUD for a used motherboard then Which by having it fitted, will void your 2 years EU warranty
Yeah, you are right. I think im just going to wait until I get back to the UK in a few months and send it off. I would get it done when i go to Asia next week but I am not staying in one place long enough - im guessing it would take a few weeks from sending it in to getting it back?
Also, I dropped my phone a few month back and the screen is all damaged but still useable. Samsung will still fix the problem I take it and not refuse to due to the damaged screen?

HTC HD2 brick dead?

very good I have an HTC HD2 uncle gave it to me. for the following problem:
not turn on and connect it via USB to the PC asks for a "Qualcomm" driver
I was told that the problem is solved only with JTAG
the question is there any other way to revive it? since it does not enter the bootloader.
thanks in advance for the help
take it this a t-mobile usa hd2 ?
Sounds very much like jtag or replacement mainboard needed .
replacement board from a device with damaged digitizer (eBay) could be cheaper than jtag.

motherboard replacement

dont ask me how but today i burned my internal memory chip in the motherboard, it was real hot like 140-160 degrees F for 15 mins or so
now i need to replace the motherboard and the thing is my phone is h960ay model, its not a common model and its hard to find motherboards for this model. i found some motherboards of the same phone but in a different model
so can i fit not the same model motherboard to my h960ay? (H901 or VS990 motherboard to h960ay?)

yes you can fit all V10 variants motherboard into your V10 chassis. that is not a problem.
Does the logic board have your IMEI/ESN on it? I was thinking about this the other day when I was looking for one for a different phone. And if so that could give you a issue with your carrier unless it's unlocked.
Just a thought.

There are V10 unlocked motherboards shipped from China available on eBay.com and aliexpress. They are cheaper on aliexpress. Mine is bricked too after a marshmallow update for h901. My v10 is h901 with vs990 motherboard, which I didn't know about till after it bricked. I am considering buying one of those unlocked motherboards too. I am waiting for someone to confirm if it's advisable buying from these sellers and whether they would directly work after fitting them in my phone chassis without any further updates or tweaks.

Yes you can
i've just got my motherboard replaced at a non-LG repair shop yesterday and when i got home i realized the memory was actually new - previously i was on android nougat - now this is android oreo and there is no IMEI on it. *#06# shows 2 line of 0 (Dual SIM). when i try to get it to upgrade via LG Bridge, i think it failed due to no valid IMEI and when i tried to do OTA, it says my phone is not activated.
I've tried entering my previous IMEI via hidden menu, and i got the LG bridge to recognize the device and found the nougat update but after it tries to download and update the phone, it failed (at 1%). Does anyone have a solution on how i can get things back together to update back to Nougat?
Thanks!

There's no Oreo for LG V10, so probably you are saying you are on Marshmallow and now you are on Nougat.
And if there's no IMEI for sure the motherboard is refurbished and soon you will have problems with it, almost every person who buy "new" motherboards or replace them with ebay ones someday will get again bootloops and so on.
use UPPERCUT to try reflash the phone firmware, if this doesnt work then you are screwed.

install CPU Temp app or something that can monitorize your cpu temperature and be careful, if they dont go higher than 42/45 then you are good.

So you reckon getting mainboards replaced officially by LG should be exempted from the bootloop issue am I understanding this correct?

is not 100% guarantee but a motherboard replaced by LG is more secure to not have bootloop than the ebay sold ones.
Strange is my V10 is still alive after 2 years and 3 months, its my daily driver and i use and abuse from it it never die, im feeling lucky in this wole story.

Hello,
Please I just received a blank lg v10 motherboard and it doesn't come on, just displays battery loading icon when charger is plugged in.
. How do I install an OS?

OTG , supercharging, headphones not working in my mate 10 pro

I was gaming with my headphones connected and all of a sudden my mobile restarted by itself and ever since usb c type headphones not working , OTG not working and super charging not working. Mine is a one year old Mate 10 pro and hence it wont be covered in warranty, also I bought it from malasyia and mate 10 pro was not released in my country. hence the huawei guys said they could not service it in my country. Though they have released p 20 pro and mate 20 pro.
What could be the possible issue and please suggest some solutions , thanks in advance.
Clean your port.
It sounds as your port is not working. Cleaning will not help. I had the same problem and sent it for repair. Manufacture warranty was rejected due to relocked bootloader, sent it for repair using the statutory warranty (phone was at repair time only 5 months old, due to eu regulation they had to prove that it was my fault). Somehow they repaired it under manufacture warranty and they told me: it is a known manufacure fault. Mainboard and USB Board including the port were changed.
