Does anyone know of any phones out now or out soon, that have 256gb of internal storage as well as a micro sd card slot? Preferably with a good processor and ram?

If you find a device with that much storage you can pretty much bet it won't have an SD card slot. No reason to have both.

That is a big stretch. It is double what is available. With the push for cloud storage and google not really supporting external sdcards, the bigger the storage options in devices the less you will see sdcards. Even the new sdcard integration option is only meant for low end device with very little storage and then isn't hot swappable.

when it comes to flash capacity double is almost always the only increment, It is a single step up from 128.
2gb -> 4gb -> 8gb->16gb->32gb->64gb->128gb->256gb

What are the practical performance differences between the two configurations. I know more RAM is always better, but is it worth $100?

It isnt ram, its storage. All you 'gain' is more room to store apps, music, movies etc. The tablet as almost all honeycomb tablets come with 1 gig of ram. If you see yourself packing the tablets with movies/photos etc then yes the 32 gig one is worth it.
At $100 for a 16gb increase it is far less expensive to just add a $20 16gb microSD card to expand to 32gb from a 16gb model.

Probably is til Sony patches it (and i hope they do) the sd slot is basically just a file transfer/media storage rather then true storage.
And keep in mind that the 16GB version only offer 8.9GB of storage !

with the correct 3rd party apps on the market you can use an sd card as true storage!!i got a 32gb sd card full of movies working with mx video player pro which you need for divx/xvid/avi movies anyway!! Got the card for £29.99 and its a class 10!

Well you can use File manager HD to look for and open files, or say if you have movies use MX Video Player. On both apps the sd card shows as sdcard2
Pretty much every single 3rd party none sony/asus/google/htc apps can play/view file directly from the SD card.
Only thing you need to know is that your SD card is located at:
/mnt/SDCard2/

hi - could someone please explain the storage setup?
I swapped my 16GB Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 for a 16GB Sony and as mentioned previously, it only shows 8.92GB internal storage (USB) plus 3.94GB internal storage so that's approx 3GB for the OS and sample files!
I assume this is just the way Sony split up the 16GB?
On the Samsung it showed approx 15GB from new
Just trying to clarify....
thanks

The storage is splitted between storage for application installation and data such as files, videos, photos, etc..

[Q] Internal SD card question

Does the YG-P70 (US version) have a micro SD card inside it? I was thinking maybe upgrade the internal SD card capacity if it isn't too difficult. That will leave the external slot open if we really need more. I ordered a Samsung 32 gig microSD class 10 and it is the fastest card I have ever had (not easily found in most stores where I live). I bought it from amazon. I would have gottetn one on ebay but there are a lot of fake memory cards on ebay. You take a chance buying them on ebay unless you know the seller. If I could make that my internal card that would be very nice.

Yes, in a way. It is (simply put) built into the processor, so it is not removable. Your 32 gig will have to go in the external slot. However, there is a patch to make it look like your internal storage to android (swap the two), which you might want to check out.

[Q] Upgrade internal memory on Mega 6.3

I come from a Dell Streak background - a device which I really loved to play around with and abuse!! One thing you could do on that device was remove a bit of plastic from the battery compartment and then you had access to the internal SD card fitted by Dell, which you could then change to another (bigger) one.
I have the 8GB Mega 6.3 device - which I love just as much as the Streak - but I have yet to mess around with custom roms etc, but no doubt that will happen in time. I was wondering if anyone knew of a way to change the internal SD/memory on this device to a large one? I assume the internal memory is just another Micro SD card and I also assume that removing the back of the unit would expose this card and allow someone to change it to a 16 or even 32GB card instead. I have googled and searched this site and other an not come across anyone who has found a way to do this - so I thought I'd as the question here to see if anyone else has come across this process anywhere.
Any information would be greatly appreciated
I haven't seen this done ....
I don't know if that's even possible

I don't think that is possible as i think the internal sd is surfaced mounted (soldered) to the mainboard, it might work if that could be removed and replaced with a larger capacity one..but it would take good soldering skills to do it..and not sure how it even would work if this was changed out.
I did see an couple people in the note community get a SD card adapter ribbon and be able to make there external memory 256 and 128 GB.....

I suspect you are right. I thought it was worth thinking about as it was a very easy thing to change on the Dell (after a bit of deft stanley knife skills) and it would avoid the annoyance of having loads of space on my external SD card, but getting very low on the internal card. If Samsung could add a 'install to SD' option, like the Dell had that would go a long way to removing the need to increase the internal memory size. I've noticed a few posts in the Samsung galaxy section on here which says that some of the roms are adding this feature.

I had a closer look at some of the mega teardown websites and it was apparent that the internal memory is not another sd card as it was on my Dell steak, it looks like a surface mounted chip -so that's that by the looks of it - no simple upgrade will be possible. Shame but not the end of the world for me as the phone still rocks! I do wish I'd bought the 16gb though.

Samsung Galaxy S6

I thought I would pick the brains of the T-Mobile users and see what their opinions of the rumors floating around about the S6. I'll start it off with the rumor I heard that Samsung is not going to use the Qualcomm processors in the s6 due to heating problems and will instead use their xynos chipset. How do you all feel about this?
I'm personally hoping this isn't true because development for xynos devices has been dismal. I'm available to jump next month but if this is true I may opt out of upgrading to the s6 and see what the mobile conference unveils.
Sent from my SM-G900T using Tapatalk
Not necessarily the same but there is a section for the International S6 already here if you want to discuss more about the device.
It didn't seem like the S6 was going to have both a removable battery and a MicroSD card slot so that ruled it out for me. Then when my S2 died I had to buy something available today. I couldn't wait for the S6, so I got the S5.

I don't get Samsung... instead of being different and building on what made their device "good", they're taking away features. Like you, the non-removable battery and now the microSD card?! I'm done with Samsung when it's time to get a new device.

I always prefer an sd card..always. I am not one to use cloud storage and constantly back up my phone. I put all my backups, photos, music and custom ringtones on the sd card. If the phone for whatever reason cannot turn on, (drop, brick, water damage, etc) I can still pop out the sd card, slide it into the replacement and within minutes have everything the same as the now deceased phone.

It's not always about having the storage space. I use folder mount and it helps greatly. Partly plays with what Kenny is saying. In addition, 32 and higher gig devices usually average a much higher price tag where a 16gig is prefectly fine with a micro SD card. But the killer for me was the 5.6 inch screen. Please Samsung make it at most 5.1. Keep your note series the one to have larger screens.

Bingo. Having an SD card is not always about extra storage. It's about having safe, removable storage that can survive even if there's a hardware failure on the phone (like what has happened to me many times over the years).
Doing away with removable batteries and MicroSD card slots is anti-consumer. Every cell phone I've had for over 10 years has had both of these basic features. I'm not about to go about legitimizing anti-consumer products by purchasing them. I'll vote with my money, and I refuse to "vote" for things that are anti-consumer and send the incorrect message to the manufacturers that this is ok.

Maybe with the 128GB. I have a 64GB SD card in my S5 and it's nearly full...along with my internal storage. It's not just music and videos, either. There are several things that I need that require lots of storage space (offline maps for my offline nav app, lots of work stuff, etc.), so 32GB or 64GB will not cut it for me. The problem is that the 128GB versions of devices are usually ridiculously overpriced compared to SD cards. I much prefer to just have the SD card slot.

Anyone tried a 512GB micro SD card yet?

So I'm wondering if anyone has tried. I have a 256GB card already that works fine but I'm running out of space (Yes I'm carrying quite a lot of music with me and yes I do see it as a good thing) my music collection is bigger than 256GB and would like to carry more so that's why I asking.
I know the max is 256GB but I don't know if that's down to hardware (and card slot) or what
No one?
From my knowledge it's only up to 256, so if you get a 512, it may not work. Sorry haven't tried it yet, but as per the spec of poco it's only up to 256. I had a different phone before, a galaxy a8 2018 which suppprted up to 256 as well and when i tried my friend's 512gb it didn't recognize it, so most likely same will happen with the poco

I would also have like to use a 512GB card. Does anyone know why this limitation exists? Is it a hardware constraint with the card reader, or a firmware or O/S constraint? I naively thought that SDXC compatibility would allow anything up to 2TB, but it's clearly not as simple as that.

That was definitely not my experience with other phones. Usually cards with higher than phone rated capacity work just fine.
From my understanding when phone manufacturers say up to 256 gb SD card supported they are saying that cause at that point of time that's the highest SD card available in the market. Most phones that can support 256gb will support higher capacities too.

Interesting video - thanks. So in theory a FAT32-formatted 512Gb SD card should be supported by any phone that supports FAT32 and SDXC? It's a shame there isn't a more recent video which tries 512GB cards in current smartphones.
In older days, when external storage limited size was 32Gb some Motorola's users (including me with Rokr Z6) used to divide 64Gb as two 32Gb mountable partitions.

Sir,
Sir,
I don't know if you have found an answer to your question as of yet but I have. I've purchased several different 512gb cards knowing that I had some use for them somewhere. The fact is that the Poco F1 does see 512 gigabytes... And then down the rabbit hole we go. After about 20 to 30 minutes of you installing the card and moving over all kinds of information, the Poco F1 begins to forget things. That's the only way I know how to put it. all the sudden some of the stuff that you have moved over to the card is not reachable even though you still see some of the shortcuts or some of the things that point to it depending on what program you're using and the next thing you know after about an hour and a half two hours it also can't find those either and then some of the program start to crash. These are not programs that I have you some third-party where to move over to the card at all. I didn't move over any software to the card I'm just talkin about moving over some of the things that it was to the card. and then you'll notice after a few more hours that the card is unreadable. The way that you can fix this is to go ahead and put it into any computer and I used a program called mini it's a freeware program to recover the lost partition. then I put it right back in the phone and at first the phone fights with and everything else but you can get it to look at it and see it again only to repeat the exact same problem over and over and over again. The problem seems to be exacerbated if you were to use a torrent program to save data to the driver's if it was a download folder from multiple sources at once. I tried everything I could. I even tempted fate a little bit by saying if I could use aparted the cell phone version in order to partition the drive into two different types of partitions one of them course being the f2fs partition I was trying to see if I could successfully divide the memory card into two partitions so that the computer or cell phone would see them as two separate entities does relieving the problem of it seeing larger than 256. this was not successful though I cannot promise that I did everything correctly. I would greatly appreciate any information you happen to have about this. I have several of these 512gb cards and some of which I saved a lot of money on some of which I spend a lot of money on but they all seem to operate the exact same with the exact same problem. if you had any suggestions on how to add that to a Asus tablet that I'm now having the exact same problem with and much lower micro SD card total capacity sizes than the Poco F1 s I would greatly appreciate that too. The Asus laptop that I'm dealing with is an Asus e203m and it comes with 32GB of real special fast memory that uses hard drive and so you can see we're picking this up for almost nothing is a great deal provided that you're a little tech-savvy can work with clouds quite a bit and hopefully find the solution to the problem and adding a 500 gigabyte micro SD card. The problem is that you can't partition those the way that you'd like or you think that you could. but for me I really love computers and love to turn branches on the weekend so to speak. I'd also love to learn anyting you might be willing to share about partitioning and the like.I know that windows will only see the first partition of a microSD card. but then who wants to be limited to just Windows anyway.

I have Samsung Evo Select 512 gigs and been using it since 6 months.
I have it full almost 90-95%+ full everytime as i load a lot of movies in it. During the time of writing it was 97% full.
It is formatted to exfat and is working perfectly.
There is no data loss or anything like that after 256 gigs.
I hope this answers all your questions.
