Just for the people that aren't in the eligible countries!
its ok, there are quit a bit of graphical bugs that makes it unusable for me on a daily basis, still a great start!
Using this atm
support for ICS only?
I've downloaded this app to my htc glacier running "creamed-glacier" rom and got an error message saying "Chrome is not supported for your version of Android. Version 4.0 (ICS) is the minimal supported version." However, since my phone isrunning the creamed glacier rom which is version 4.0.3, shouldn't I be able to run this app? Any ideas? Thanks.
I believe the build.prop file needs to be edited for this.
From:
ro.build.id=GWK74
TO
ro.build.id=IML74K
very interesting... i just received an update from the market for Chrome Beta, then after the update i'm now able to use this app. i guess i don't have to update the build.prop file after all. but thanks for the info

Its possible they received complaints from CM9 users and decided to remove the ro.build.id check.
Chrome for Android Beta has been updated to 0.16.4301.233 (Chrome 16.0.912.77). Primarily focused on bug fixes, this update addresses issues in the compatibility check which prevented Chrome from starting up on some versions of Android 4.0, Ice Cream Sandwich.
Known issues:
112923 : No way to toggle between mobile/desktop UA
113140 : Youtube links do not prompt for which application to use
113132 : Chrome for Android beta doesn't support configured proxy in wi-fi settings

You could be right I uninstalled the patched Chrome I had, and installed from the market and its working great for me
Hi,
I've heard that the WebView updates through Play Store wouldn't take any effects on AOSP ROMs because they can not guarantee that it works: https://plus.google.com/100348830529087975954/posts/1Mot5nodrkj (first comment by Richard Cole). I've tested it and I can say that the "Browser" in PA Alpha (5.0.2) still shows up Chrome 37 on http://www.whatbrowser.org/ instead of 42 (opted in to beta chanel) and disabling the build in WebView also has no effect as mentioned in the comments.
Is there a way to update it nevertheless? Would it work to copy the base.apk from /data/app/com.google.android.webview-2 to /system/app/webview? Or is there a way to make the Play Store believe that it is on an official Android and let it update WebView (or however it would work), maybe through a build.prop-"hack"?
Just found the XPosed Module WebViewGoogle (working on XPosed for 5.1.1) which makes exactly that and because betas are coming over the same channel when you are beta tester, it also works with them.
If for some reason the Xposed module doesn't work, e.g. not tested on Android 5.1.1, the alternative is to decompile framework-res.apk and edit strings.xml to point the ROM to the Google version of Webview. See here for more.
Finally found android web view fix here
yeah it works man aosp and cm is better than now

Hey folks,
I've been busy porting Cyanogenmod 12.1 to the HP Slate 21 (s100 and k100). I've a stable build which works really nice other than a few issues I've been trying to fix. The only browser the works is that stock one that comes with it. If I do Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox (or any other browser), it loads but shows a black screen. This was not an issue in the stock 4.4.2 version. I can provide logs, screenshots, etc if they are needed.
Thanks in advance!
Peace,
Quaesar
I recently just got Android 7.1.1 on my phone and noticed that there were different webviews that I could choose from, I had the option of stock Android webview and AOSP and Chrome Canary, so there are multiple webview and it's based in the apps, so does that mean it is possible to make a custom system wide webview for faster performance than google's own? I'd like to see one if it's possible
Also: it would be nice if someone could explain the effects of turning on webview render separately? Thanks

Thanks for providing a different build for the SM-T350.
Two bugs so far after some quick testing.
1. Like evervolv, I can't load Clash Royale as it says device not compatible. I can't see Clash of Clans in playstore either. This is not surprising if you are using evervolv as base code.
2. The recent button, doesn't bring up all the open apps. Hitting the button takes me to the home screen. Since this is the first time, I'm using cDroid, perhaps I'm doing something wrong? I changed recents style to AOSP and now it works as I expect it.
Will test some more later on.
PS. In post #1, you write it is using the 4.x kernel. The kernel is 3.10.108 according to the tablet.
@retiredtab the issues with CoC and Clash Royal could be related to google play services and not the ROM itself, see if updating google play services makes a difference. I will continue to check into it.
Using the no sound LineageOS 16.0 build with the exact same tablet, same userid and same open pico gapps (just downloaded yesterday), Clash Royale and Clash of Clans works with LineageOS 16.0 (but with no sound).
Using the exact same tablet, same userid, same open gapps, I get "device not compatible" for Clash Royale with crDroid and evervolv.
All tests done with clean flash (wipe dalvik, cache, system, data, factory reset, etc).
Playstore version 14.0.33-all
Google Play Services version 15.1.78
Everything is up to date as Updates in google play store show "no updates available".
Question: Can you install Clash Royale on your tablet?

Not sure what you mean, it isnt playing mp3 files?
@nubianprince, does your evervolv 7 build work with google chrome, clash royale and Coc?
I can't past that bluetooth bug in the evervolv 7 build to configure or setup anything myself to test.

@retiredtab chrome, clash Royale and CoC works on evervolv 7.1
Best way to avoid the BT errors
Flash file + GApps, before you reboot ...
mount system.. advanced... file manager.. system.. app ... Bluetooth ...delete Bluetooth.apk then reboot.
It works for sm-t595n to?

Thanks for testing that. Okay, so it looks like it is just evervolv 9 then that has this problem.

nubianprince's build utilizes evervolv 9 for its base. Since evervolv 9 doesn't work with google chrome and other popular apps, this build won't either.
We have to wait for evervolv team to look at their build fingerprint to see what is wrong.

Try apkmirror.com download and install the apps from there, let me know if you can install apps that way.
I am currently doing an Oreo build to see if that also has issues with playstore.
