Hello,
I own a Allview City+ (plus edition)(8 GB) and I tried to install a custom rom on it without any success ( failed at 73% using a tutorial). I can't find a good stock rom for this specific device , but i did find a custom rom " Allview Speed City " (not plus edition) and it seems to be equivalent with [onda v701 v5]. I tried to use it along with "USB-Burning-tool-v1.6.1" program as a tutorial explained but , the operating system wont start. Only the boot manager starts.
Now i can't connect it with my PC (the pc does not detect it by usb anymore) , and the only method i have in order to use a custom rom is by sd card or adb (which I do not have it installed)
Hope you'll help me by giving a solution to a simple stock rom with basics apps.
I tried to install a simple custom rom due to incredible lag in any app after trying factory reset and other methods. (Android 4.1 Jelly Bean)
Thank You

Hi friends,
I recently bought Micromax A52. Thought of rooting it and after looking on xda i figured that existing root methods didn't enable root privilege in Micromax A52. Thinking of trying the manual way to root ( Creating own methods to root).
I need your help in getting basic idea of few things.
I dont know/find where i can download A52 stock OS. Pleas guide me the process of backing up stock.
After stocking original os as we can easily restore to it, would like to proceed with the rooting steps. Wondering how a rooting softy (Superoneclick or z4root etc) works based on which i will be able to give a shot on it.
I know the queries here are silly but if you help me i could learn to master ..
Thanks

You can try bm-smartphone-reviews[dot]blogspot[dot]in/2012/04/creating-rom-dump-of-your-mt65x3-device[dot]html, I will try this method after my exams are over. I am also new to android development.

Thank you sharmad247. I tried them but failed. First of all it was because of MT65xx Preloader failed driver at boot and later in Factory boot mode identified the chip is MT6575 and searched for that particular driver. (Tried rooting as well)
Got the drivers from
HTML:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=26408058&postcount=9
and installed successfully.
Now started Smart Phone Flash Tool again and configured Readback.
Disconnected phone from Data Cable.
Clicked on Read Back button on Flash Tool.
Switched off phone. Removed battery.
Connected Data Cable.
Inserted Battery.
Press and Hold on Vol - UP / Down button. (Tried both ways)
Flash tool detected the driver (showed on status bar) and popped up the error attached.
Please try and let me know when you are successful in making backup (I can understand where i went wrong), Also please share backed up rom.
If you also want to root, I tried lots of possibilities but seems i missing some steps and rooting not successful yet.
Thanks

No luck with me too
This seems to be 'Download Mode' error which our phone does not support or does not have it. But has a recovery mode with limited options.
I too tried this on Ubuntu 11.04, but no luck.
How to do complete backup your rooted A52.
Follow 3rd method of backup.

I have similar problem with my Intenso 824: RK30, android 4.1.1. I have almost tried everything:
-apk rooters not work

3- Enjoy it
Hello,I bought a Symphony Xplorer W71 few days ago. I need to root my device and also backup my ROM. But I have noticed that there is no stockrecovery on the device. When I press volume + and power button together it shows three option.1. recovery2. fast boot3. normal modeBut when I select recovery it only shows an android logo laying with an open belly with a exclamation sign. As I have used many Android device before including some mediatek device. I pressed home, option and back button like Walton primo series but nothing happens. Then I tried to backup my ROM with sp flash tool and mtk droid tools it finished with some error. Also the preloader driver shows up for a while and plug out. Also this device has some bug. Like magnetic and orientation sensor are not working although info says these are supported. The complete device details are bellow:Name: Symphony Xplorer W71Manufacturer: alpsDevice: MediateckBoard: mt6577Processor: 1GHz Dual Core Cortex A9GPU: Imagination Power VR SGX531Display: FWVGA(854X480) 4.5"Android Version: 4.1.2 (Jelly Bean)Kernel Version: 3.4.0Can you guys please help me flashing and rooting my device. One more thing. Is there any way tochange the Chinese language from the factory mode(Volume- plus power button)Thanks in advance!
for removing chinese language use mtkdroid tools ( u need to have root access)
for rooting use Root_with_Restore_by_Bin4ry_v17
for install CWM ( i don't knw if u r lucky enough for a developer to made u a cwm)
but by using mtkdroid tools u can backup ur stock rom then u can try out the cwm for w70 ( i got one by google searching) and if u get problem then u can undone it.
I might have got the righ tutorial for you:
- http://www.needrom.com/tutorial-backup-rom-with-mtkdroidtools/ --> download mtkdroidtools here
- http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/f60...-mtk-droid-root-tools-backup-unbrick-1666984/ --> I couldn't prepare it for flashtools afterwards, can someone tell me how to use this backup then?
I used both methods yesterday and finished with no error and have a usable (i think so) backup now.
Hello dear friends,
I just recently purchased a Lenovo A830 due to it being a budget phone but now I am starting to regret it.
It came rooted I checked through (Root Checker) app, but it's mostly in chinese even after changing the language.
So I came across this custom rom recently and I am really interested to install it so I can get rid of the current stock rom.
Unfortunately I need to have clock world mod recovery installed, So I have been trying to install it through Flash tools v3.1304.0.119 -- it wouldn't detect even after installing the proper usb drivers which are ( MTK6589 Drivers ).
It did detect once and it went to a 100% in red and said something about checking the logs and that it wouldn't work cannot be specific about this because it's not doing that anymore it's just not detecting.
Can someone please try to help me and guide me to install CWM on my lenovo A830, It would be much appreciated.
Any help would be really appreciated.
Thanks.
Hi everyone,
A couple of days I posted in XDA Assist and was asked to seek help here. Therefore, I'm posting my original post here, along with some updates at the end.
Original Post:
#####################
I've got a reasonably unknown Tablet PC.. Here are the specs and miscellaneous information;
Name: Ainol Numy 3G P97
Internal Memory: 16GB
RAM: 1GB
GPU: Mali-400 MP
SoC: MediaTek MT8382 ARM Cortex A7 @ 1.3Ghz (Quad Core)
OS: Android Jellybean 4.2.2 (I'm pretty sure it's a Custom ROM)
Kernel Version: 3.4.5
Build Number: Numy_3G_P97_V1_2014090215
Custom Build Version: 1.19_20140822
Root Access: No (I never tried to root the device, never had a reason to do so)
I've been searching around for ways to upgrade the OS from Jellybean to Lollipop or higher. I've searched extensively within XDA Developers' various forums, but there doesn't seem to be any post in relation with my device.
I took to the internet and found some websites offering Flash Tools, Firmware (nothing above KitKat, or so it seems) and Android Studio. I've tried (in vain) to go through some tutorials on YouTube, but haven't come across anyone who's done anything with this particular device.
However, I have a rough idea rattling around in my head of what needs to be done, but I just need guidance from the Developers here to tell me how to get about doing it.
I have the following software downloaded;
1. MediaTek USB Drivers and Flash tools
2. SP Flash Tool v5.1620
3. Official Android Jellybean 4.2.2 System Image for the device
4. Android Lollipop 5.0 System Image (the site I downloaded it from says the Firmware is for a different tablet pc, but with the same specs as my device)
5. Android Studio (latest version, direct download from Google) - I read in some sites that Android Studio would help a lot to install a Custom ROM into any Android device, hence the download.
I'd greatly appreciate anyone helping me out in this endeavor. I'd like to install Lollipop (at least) on my Tablet PC, in order to gain some functionality as well as improved performance (hopefully!), as the current Jellybean OS is terribly laggy. I've seen other Tablet PC's with lesser specs running Lollipop smoothly, so I'm hopeful that there might be a silver lining to an otherwise very dark and sinister looking thunderstorm.

Updates:
While waiting, I've tried a few things. I downloaded the following;
1. Android SDK Tools with Platform Tools
2. Android Lollipop system images x 2 (.img file format) (similar specs to my Tablet PC)
3. Android Lollipop system image x 1 (.zip file format) (similar specs to my Tablet PC)
4. Android KitKat system image x 1 (supposedly the original and official KitKat OS for my Tablet PC)
5. Kingo Root app (Windows version)
Here's what I tried:
I tried using ADB to sideload a Lollipop system image (.zip file format) through a custom recovery already installed on my Tablet PC. Each time I tried, the installation would just stop with "Installation aborted". No matter what I did, I couldn't get it to work.
Next, I tried to "update" the current OS (Jellybean 4.2.2) to KitKat using the "official update" I found on the net, for my Tablet PC. I used SP Flash Tools to try and load the file, but that didn't pan out, as there was something corrupted in the Scatter file. Each time I tried to load the Scatter file, I'd get the error message that it was corrupted. Didn't know what else to do.
Following that, I read some articles where rooting the device in question was suggested, so I searched around for a bit, found the Kingo Root app, used it and rooted my device. Then, I tried using ADB again, this time using a more traditional method of custom ROM installation. But once I got to the Fastboot commands, I couldn't get any further. My device did boot up in Fastboot mode, but I got lost after that.
As of yet, my device is still running Jellybean 4.2.2. I've refurbished it by doing a master reset, but I'd really like to get Lollipop in, if it's possible. Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks!
Serious help needed please!
I really need help, people, on this issue! Isn't there some kind soul who will respond??
