Hello guys.
We are grateful because ASUS have included so many useful gimmicky bloatwares in the stock ROM on our device. One of them was AudioWizard. As a groovy sound lover, I didn't found myself satisfy with AudioWizard's sound modes. Because of that, I come here to guide you on how to install ViPER4Android FX properly on your device as I have tried several methods and tempting many errors during installing the driver.
DISCLAIMER: DO WITH YOUR OWN RISK
Do a full nandroid backup! I don't want to take any responsibility if something unexpected happens.
Tested & working fine on my ZE550KL.
I think it should works on any ASUS Zenfone 2 Laser devices as long as you are on stock Lollipop ROM.
Not supported on CyanogenMod 13.0 ROM (Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow).
Known issues:
-AudioWizard isn't working. (You get a payback, dude! It maybe conflict or the V4A broke down the AudioWizard. But you will enjoy a great sound effect better than AudioWizard. Don't cry.)
-FM radio isn't working. (If you think this is very important for you so don't flash.)
-Sound recorder isn't working.
What do you need on your device?
...a working custom recovery such as TWRP or CWM
...a working root access
...BusyBox installed properly
Download the required file (ViPER4Android lollipop.zip) from the link below.
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B9vjPTwrSocDYzNlTXVrUG44Mms/view
Or download from the attached file (ViPER4Android lollipop.zip) below.
Flash it through your custom recovery.
If you want to use only ViPER4Android FX as a global audio effect, follow Normal mode. But if you want existing audio effects to work, follow Compatible mode.
Enjoy your new audio effect!
Credits & special thanks are given to:
@zhuhang the creator & developer of ViPER4Android FX
@asett3 for sharing the file with me
hi thank you i've been looking for this but i think i don't have acces to the file
Hey you all who are requested, sorry for the inconvenience. Now you can access the file freely.
update
Working perfectly in ZE500KG im sorry i wrong flash it non in twrp
FM is not working after flash.
FM and Sound Record is not working after flash
I didn't notice that FM radio isn't working when I'm still using V4A on stock Lollipop ROM. But my recording app is working well. The most thing I have noticed is AudioWizard not working. It maybe broken down by the V4A.
Sr. M Huzaifah
Bugs shown in the Stock Rom, were these:
- FM Radio does not work, no sound.
- It is not possible to record a phone conversation, because the Sound Record does not work.
Can anyone correcting these bugs?
Thank you
Anybody who are use this V4A can prove that the sound recorder isn't work?

If it is really won't work and you want to make it work again, you need to flash the full firmware. Or you can revert/restore back if you have made a full nandroid backup. Don't use this V4A unless you think the issues isn't disturb your daily driver.
On MM is working if you install it normaly. Just download Viper4Android and install the driver, if is not working try to open the equalizer using your music player. If you use stock music player to open the equalizer it will open the stock one, try with musixmatch ( go to now playing and pres the 3 dots and open equalizer ). Is working with stock equalizer and Radio, Call Recordind is working

Viper is there 2.5 version zip by guitaredhero [I cant post links yet]
flash that and you don't need to install drivers separately
If it doesnt work uninstall drivers, install busybox and install drivers, it works completely fine
Also flash the zip, dont install apk from it as it doesnt work for me, and set storage permissions for the app in settings else convolvers doesnt show up

Hi im currently using honor 7 PLK L01C185B380 without root access. I want to know since there is no custom rom like CM currently available for Honor 7, what advantages will i get from rooting my device?
Are there any good kernels available that i can use with the stock rom?

there is pretty decent cm 13 in dev thread ... actually i am using it and i am overall happy with it except some minor things.
for root:
there's so many things you can do with root, a few things important to me:
- root most likely also means you have custom twrp, with twrp you can completely backup your device to have a safe return to point
- better battery stats
- xposed with all its modules
- titanium backup to have individual app backups completely with all data
- freeze/disable/remove system apps
- cpu adjustments
- firewall
- proxy
- adaway
- tasker
xposed is one of best adventages of rooting. adblock, all cool mods etc...

B370, B380 etc
i used the digigoon kernel with b380... there hasn't been any major change from b330 onwards, so i assume b330 to 380 is safe. however it's always good to get a backup before flashing kernels.

Did you root using the XDA guide?
I just hate the fact that my data will be lost after unlocking the bootloader, that's the only thing that's stopping me
rooted like this:
- download newest super su zip file
- transfer to sd
- reboot to twrp
- install from zip
- select super su zip
- install
- no wipe
- done
( you can also look at digigoons pure emui rom which has aroma installer, where you can have several options with the best mods available for emui on honor 7 )

Yeah but you had to unlock the bootloader right?
For me most advantages about rooting/twrp are:
-Installing BusyBox
-Viper4Android (you'll need 3rd part music app to hear the changes, stock have DTS sound)
-Changing Calendar dates to my language like Ataasinngorneq (Monday) (Greenlandic is not an option in language settings)
-Xposed to use Softkeys Fade mod, double tap notification to turn off screen (after installing Xposed, booting takes time, be patient, took little over 5 mins)
-Installing Kernel Adiutor
I'm using stock PLK-L01 B370.
I always do it in that order.
Root access has become a must for all my devices
Here's my use/advantages of root access:
-First of all, I use Greenify that has the functionality of close every app in the background, even system apps. This with root access, Greenify can works in background while I'm doing something else with the phone. With this app, my battery last longer.
-I use custom recovery, witch allow me to flash mods that requires root. I use mods to increase the phone's performance and adblocker like AdAway, blocking ads also make browser loading faster and uses less data because I don't load any ad. Other useful mods are sound mods like Dolby Atmos or Viper, that boost sound volume and quality, increasing the experience of sound on our devices.
-Full control of the the phone. With root access I can use Kernel Auditor in order to monitor and control my phone's CPU, memory usage etc..
-Xposed Framework. I don't think it needs explaination, it would be also too long ?
-Use of substratum, with this app I can customize more the phone, change navigation bar, boot animation, system sounds.
-There are countless things you can do with root access, on XDA you will keep finding out new and amazing mods and things that requires root!
This is a collection of small changes to fix things on my Moto G4 XT1626 that others may find useful.
ElementalX 1.02 with DTV driver:
This is the great and stable ElementalX Kernel from flar2, without any code changes, but with the ISDBT TV kernel driver that he didn't include in the official version, useful for XT1626 owners that want root but need the DTV receiver working.
Disable esdfs:
This is a magisk module (can also be flashed if you don't use magisk) to disable ESDFS and use FUSE instead, so apps like apps2sd work properly on the moto G4 or G4 Plus.
MotoG4 incall record enabler:
This is a magisk module (can also be flashed) that changes the mixer controls mapping to allow incall recording using any playstore app(even without root). Tested with ACR, works fine. This was made for Stock Nougat, untested on other roms.
I will add more quirks and mods I develop in the future to this thread.
Working Fine ?

Thank you very much, in particular for the call recording. Although the recording app I had been using (CallRec) did not detect the new VOICE_COMMUNICATION stream, as you mention in the OPs it works fine with ACR. I'm running it in recent LOS 14.1 Athene builds on an XT1625.
One (somewhat off topic) question: I switched from LOS SU to Magisk in order to install this module. Except for a few other apps that seem to prefer LOS SU I'm happy with Magisk managing SU but in case I want to switch back to LOS SU ...is there a way to get this installed while using LOS SU. Perhaps this is a question for the Magisk thread but I've found no answers by searching so I'm starting here. Thanks again!

All this modules does is replace/bind (mount -bind), /system/etc/mixer_paths.xml with a custom version. You can do the same with a shell script, luckypatcher, or any other root app that alows you to selectively replace files in the system. You can also simply replace the file directly in LOS's /system/ if you want to make it permanent and don't care about keeping /system untampered.
Hope we can have call recording on LOS

I gave your version a try because I'm also running Magisk 17.1 and it trashed my system, wasn't expecting that much fun to happen.
After I installed module and rebooted the phone it just went to recovery mode, was forced to do a full reset.

FWIW I once used this on a Moto G4 Athene XT1625 running LOS 14.1 and Magisk 16x with no problems. Don’t know about Magisk 17 as I use LOS SU except when specifically testing something else but it's a simple mod which really "should" not cause that much trouble. In any event once you get your device back in shape you could try to enable call recording manually: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=73603492&postcount=9.
[EDIT] Added details about device on which I had tested this in Magisk.

Thanks for your reply!
I agree that the mod should not have caused so much trouble, which is why I was a little shell shocked when it refused to boot to anything other than recovery. I'd just got the device set up nice and hadn't done a TWRP backup yet, so getting it back up and running again was a little painful, but perhaps good in a way as I'd learnt what didn't work well first time round, so this time it's lean and mean...
I've taken a look at the files enclosed in the mod (I know, I should have done that before installing it ... doh! ) and discovered that the location of mixer_paths.xml is different on my system, it's in /vendor/etc/ so I went ahead and swapped the modded file (I have root access) with my one and rebooted, phone came up with no sound output at all, so it looks like my newer system (and device, it's a Moto E5 XT1944-6) are not compatible with the modded mixer_paths.xml file.
I'd like to know which elements of the modded mixer_paths.xml file were change to make it work on the G4, I could then try to add/edit those particular ones in my mixer_paths.xml file to see if it works.
I have a backup of my original file so no pain in trying new settings....
For reference I'm running this ROM on my phone,
[GSI][8.1.0][OFFICIAL] Resurrection Remix O v.6.1.0 [08/18][ARM/ARM64]
it's quite impressive...

Dear Friends,
Viper4Android Fx doesn't work with any custom ROM.( Busy box installed ) & edited file to . bak. Still doesn't work. Any suggestion?
I suggest using ARISE Sound Systems, V4A from their package works like a charm. Only difficulty may be installation configuration, but you can use older versions with aroma installer.

Thanks for the suggestion. Long back i used Arise sound system in S7edge. Downloaded Arise dueteronomy aroma but it doesnt work with custom rom (shows drivers installed but no sound difference).Tried in fulmics& it works. Any idea in which custom rom it works without any problem?
Have you tried latest Magnum Opus then? Takes a bit to manually config installation file though.
Honestly I'm using custom stock ROM on my G5, mainly for LG's camera app. On the other devices I used AOSP roms like LineageOS and ARISE was working fine, but I don't have any experience with that on AOSP LG G5 roms, should work too I guess.

Just to be sure, have you configured installation file and placed it on your sdcard before flashing Magnum Opus?
One more thing that comes to mind; sometimes, when v4a wasn't working, common thing to do was deleting audio_effects.conf, not backing it up at and then reflashing v4a package.
Other than that I can't help you, sorry. Perhaps you should look in the rom thread if issue was mentioned or ask by yourself.
I had this problem myself and downloaded like a dozen different install packages of viper before one finally stuck and operated. Keep trying and I'm sure you'll find one that does the trick. Pretty sure the one that worked on my G5 was actually put together for the V20.
Thanks a lot for your suggestions. Tried once today & it works like a charm with Crdroid 2.4. Have a nice day .

Well ... To install A.R.I.S.E you need proper working root and busybox as it is needed for Viper driver installation ... If both are working properly you will not be prompted to install driver otherwise you will see the driver installation prompt and following error ...
In FULMICS it works because of the in-built root and busybox ...
U can generally use A.R.I.S.E Deuteronomy 2.4 (download from androidfilehost). The installation is as minimal as possible .. only libraries and Viper4Arise without needing to configure anything yourself ... and it works like a charm in all properly rooted roms ...
If you use custom kernels (Asgard for Fulmics, and Speedy Kernel for LOS based roms) be sure to flash Magisk Root or SuperSU ... !!
Hope it helps !
