[Help] Restoring the IMEI and baseband after bootloader unlocking - Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Questions & Answers

Hi,
I've lost the IMEI and baseband of my SD version of Note 3 after flashing LineageOS. I've tried almost all the methods I found online (Hash edit, IMEI writer) but nothing worked. I've also reflashed the global stable 8.0 now but, haven't succeeded to restore the IMEI.
Please help, I forgot to take the backup beforehand and now can't use my phone (as sim is not working, I can't call or use whatsapp). Wifi is also acting up. Is there any way I can restore back the IMEI?

Cyanogenmod = IMEI lost

No matter what whenever I flash CyanogenMod I lost my IMEI. I've tried dozens of times go back to stock rom (IMEI FIXED) and the install CM and it always ****** the IMEI. I've tried first going to CM7 and later to 10.1 but even doing that 7 already has lost IMEI. This is driving me nuts. I've also tried recovering the IMEI from stock but it changes nothing.
I've found what's wrong:
1) I had problems with CWM. Was using a bad version or something like that.
So for anyone who is having trobble with IMEI lost, try the following:
Flash the original phone rom
Use a good CWM to flash the new rom (by good I mean the official one as the CWM list)

[Q] searching for network error

Decided to update my GT-i9300 today.
These are the steps I took before I flashed new rom.
Format and factory reset
Wipe cache
Davlik cleaned
Flash new rom
Reboot
I have tried Lollipop 5.0, 5.1 and KitKat all with the same results. Phone keeps losing network connection (Three), I have tried suggestions like airplane mode, delete and reinsert APN detail, remove sim card, switch off phone. I have also reflashed all 3 ROMs twice and still exactly the same error.
Install my backup (Original) Rom and all works fine.
I have the latest CWM too.
Can any help and advise please?

I have googled and searched this forum and that is where I found the suggestions that I have tried.
Is your imei and your phone's serial number original?
You can find it in Settings-about device-status
It seems correct to me.
I purchased phone in used condition with broken screen from a work colleague two years ago (no longer works here). I repaired screen but replacement did not have sticker under battery, I stupidly did not remove original sticker or keep a record (stupid I know). Well about two weeks ago I tried to flash a new rom but bricked phone, would not turn on whatsoever. Sent phone off to get repaired (Ebay) but because there was no IMEI number and I did not have box or the original sticker the guy would not repair (which I understand), I located my IMEI number from Google Dashboard and then got a Checkmend Certificate to prove that the phone was legit.
Since it's return I have had this problem. He has flashed an image on which seems to work but no other image that I try will work.
IMEI number is correct as far as I am aware but I am not sure how to confirm the Serial number is correct, any advice?
Just been to an IMEI checking website, inserted my IMEI number and listed serial number on phone and all details came back correct.
Your efs is corrupted and will no longer work with firmware that requires v2 efs.
Only solution, which is what your repair guy did, is to flash the patched modem and kernel -which enables the efs to be read again.
Each time you flash a firmware you will need to then flash patched modem and kernel before you can get connection.

Thanks for your reply. Decided to try one last time. Flashed CM 12.1 and it seems to have worked except for one thing, my serial number is not the same as before. IMEI is fine.

Baseband unknown and can't register to the network

Hi.
Yesterday I made a mistake by flashing ROMs without backup and now I think I accidentally overwrite or deleted some partitions inside my RN3 Snapdragon version (Kenzo) then my IMEI and baseband become unknown, and no signal detected. So I tried this thread and this thread on MIUI forum to recover back my baseband and IMEI. Now I get the baseband and IMEI on my phone but the problem is my phone didn't retrieve signal, or if it retrieve signal, does not registered to any network. I'm not sure what is the problem anymore, or maybe I need unmodified EFS. If it is the case I hope someone can backup and send me the EFS so I can try again, or if it's not I'm not sure what to do anymore.
Thanks
Nevermind I solved my problem. Refer to this MIUI forum thread if you want to see the solution.

help. no sim/ baseband corrupted EFS corrupted?

i was running cyanide l for about a year when suddenly it started saying there was no sim card. i tried switching sims, same. sim works in other phones. i backed up, wiped and installed cyanide m. it recognized the sim and i had phone and 3g but no 4g and it would not allow me to access my sd card (others worked). so i backed up, wiped, and installed cm13. no sim, so i wipe and go back to cyanide m but still no sim. tried restoring backups going all the way back to last year to no avail. tried using different versions of twrp to flash all 3, same. tried flashing modem, same thing. imei and baseband show as unknown in about. would this be because efs corruption, or because its not recognizing the sim?
i cant find a efs backup. i may have one from CWMR, still searching hard drives.
does this sound like possible hardware issue? anybody have any suggestions for how to fix this?
im a little afraid of flashing a stock because i avoid knox like the plague.
replaced simcard slot with one from phone with cracked screen. same thing
used gsii_repair to mount efs and got signal (not sure why mounting it and rebooting did this). it would only get 3g, and in test menu 700mhz channel 13 used by Verizon lte was not shown in band list. figured it was a limitation of the rom (cyanide m) so backed up efs w/twrp, and odin back to vramc3 w/.pit. says no sim again. tried re flashing radio, restoring efs w/twrp. tried going back to my working backup of cyanide m, but still no sim and sgii_repair didnt fix this time. ive been messing with this for a week. any sugestions.
so it just started working again. not sure why, but i was running stock vramc3. backed up efs again, and manually copied efs folder. flashed de-knoxed/deodexed stock nd7. still working. made a backup. flashed cm13. still working. flashed open gapps. still working. installed Pandora and fell asleep listening to music. woke up to no service. reboot, no sim/baseband/imei again. compaired efs to backup, seems the same. overwrote efs with backup, no sim. there is no nv_data.bin in any of the efs saves/backups... checked 2 other i605 note 2's both on mj9, there efs has no nv_data.bin, but they work flawlessly. can anyone conferm if imei data is stored in some other way/place on 4.3+
maybe the nand if failing?
no sim when i went to sleep, working when i woke up... phone + 1x only. maybe the radio is bad... never had issues like this on any phone i worked on. think im going to buy a new phone as the gn2 community is dead and im getting nowhere without help. is there a test/diagnostic app.
through it in my pocket, it stops working... through it in the refrigerator, it starts working... i think its toast

no IMEI although correct EFS partition, nandroid backup to new phone

so i got a replacement phone off my insurance for my s9 + and i did a nandoid backup of everything on my original phone and used it on my new phone exept the efs partition. and there is no sim servies and the phone says "unknown" IMEI" i do have a backup of the efs but restoring from it does nothing however if i factory reset it (using default rom on odin) then the sim serives work(while on android 10), and my orignal phone is android 8.0 and with older firmware while my replacement is android 10.0 with newer firmware. under inspecting the efs files in notepad of the two phones i can see strings of data that are different (obvs) but to me it looks like a different layout, like on the newer firmware it processes/handles it differently, my guess is when using my using my old phones rom and etc the new firmware cant read it? this is all very confusing to me, i thought nandroid backups where simple -_- also ill note that if i dial some commands eg *#06#* it says "sm-g965f is not supported on showIMEI" but if i do the *#*#197328640#*#* nothing happens and servicemode opens but with no options or text... i assume this is because using old rom software on the new firmware isnt communicating right? what would be the best way to get my data, OS, and root on this new phone? im a noob with this, just 1 problem after the other....
also showing unknown baseband
help would be much appreciated,
never mind i fixed it by flashing the orginal baseband partition with carrier configs, my phone now thinks its t mobile when its with three but idc, sim services work lol
