Adopting internal storage results in corrupt… - Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Questions & Answers

im using redmi note 3 with lineage os 7.1 I have attempted to add a 64GB to the internal storage but every time I go through the adoption process to bring it into internal, it formats it and results in it being corrupted? The sdcard is brand new.

Same problem here dude, are you able to find a work around? @sapti1612

Android 6.0 storage

Hi guys, I just upgraded my Z3 to 6.0 through a custom rom and I'm just wondering, for people already on 6.0, do y'all think it's better to combine your sd storage with internal? Cause I just found out that it's almost impossible to flash a rom or anything from TWRP if your storage is combined cause it won't read the sd card area. Maybe a TWRP update will come out fixing this but for now it's kind of a hassle to reformat my sd card to read as transferable storage.

Can't adopt sd card?

So i had serious memory issues, like out of my 8gb 5.2gb was used for system data and 1gb for the default apps so i barely had room for ads , so i bought an 16gb sd card but i couldn't move all of the apps i barely could do anything on them(i dont really take photos/videos so they didn't take more than 10mb maybe). I didn't even have space to get the marshmallow update but i did some reading an apparently in the update i could adopt my sd card as internal storage and the only con was like slower speed but i don't really care for that myself. so i did a factory reset i updated to marshmallow erased my sd card memory before factory-resetting and when i finally opened the phone with 6.0 installed and went to my storage options and in sd settings all there is is eject and format, not format as internal storage, help??? also excuse me for horrible grammar/punctuation.
Right now after resetting i already have 6.2gb used out of 8gb and i didn't install one single app its all just after resetting.
Phone:Lg spirit 4g LTE(device wasnt in the main lg device page), android 6.0(marshmallow)
Not all Marshmallow firmwares / phones offer this capability. You should be able to force it from following this:

Internal storage problems (stock) - and how best to solve them?

So I bought a used Moto E 1st Gen to use while my Nexus 5X is being repaired, but I've found it to be almost unusable, thanks to its limited internal storage. It can't even update all the built in apps without running out of room, and none of them are transferable to my 32GB micro SD card! Installing new apps is very difficult, and sometimes impossible.
I think that part of the trouble is that it's running Android 5.1, which I believe significantly impaired the ability to make use of the external memory (right?).
I was hoping to use this phone temporarily as a backup device, and as such, I really just wanted it pure and simple and easy. The phone seems fine and the battery life is great, but I can't put all my apps on it.
So what's the most pragmatic way of dealing with this problem? Can I flash an older, stock ROM without having to unlock the bootloader? If I unlock it and flash a custom ROM, won't the later ones suffer this problem too? Would I be best using an older ROM from the days before Lollipop when external memory was easier to take advantage of?
Thanks wise sages, George

See friend, if you don't want to unlock your bootloader then you must flash the stock KitKat ROM as you can use your memory card to move the apps. But you can only move the apps which can be moved to external and if you have apps which can't be moved to external, you may run out of storage.
If you unlock your bootloader and flash Custom ROM which is MM or higher then you can use your memory card as adoptable storage. Using Sd Card as adopted storage would not let you run out of storage and is future proof as heavy apps moves automatically into adopted storage

Thank you, I hadn't heard of the adopted storage thing, because there's no SD card slot in the Nexus. It's exactly what I needed. I've installed the latest Lineage nightly and its working wonderfully, so far.

To make adoptable storage insert a card into your phone running MM or higher it will ask you if you want to use the SD card as a portable device or Internal. By selecting ‘Internal’ you are now moving to the new Adoptable Storage function and the SD card will be formatted. Make sure you backup your data on card and you must use a high speed(class 10) memory card.

Does anyone use adoptable storage on 128GB+ MicroSDs with success?

I have an ASUS ZenPad 3S 10 (Z500M) tablet that I tried to use with a SanDisk Ultra 128GB MicroSDXC card configured with adoptable storage under android 6.0. It hasn't been a success. I install a ton of games with large obb files from my googleplay account to it, and though it works fine for a time, after a while, I get strange errors and can't write or delete from the MicroSD card or transfer files to it via USB data cable anymore. A reboot fixes it, but only temporarily. I'm thinking it's either bugs in adoptable storage with 6.0 or the size of the card. Anyone have success with a similar setup?
I'd like to try switching over to formatting the Sandisk as external storage, but since my ZenPad 3S 10 can't be rooted, I have no way to run obb files off of it with apps that allow you to do this. Is there any possible way to change the default installation folder of android games and apps to a MicroSDXC card on the ASUS ZenPad 3S 10 (Z500M)? I have this sneaking suspicion that adoptable storage is just not stable and reliable with 128GB microsd cards though I'm open to the idea that it's something else causing this issue
So... I guess it is absolutely, totally, completely and utterly impossible to run Android games and obb files off of a 128GB microSDXC card formatted as portable external SD storage on an unrooted android device under MarshMallow. Not even the best of the best of the most genius android hackers has found a solution apparently. Alas, I have no recourse *insert the saddest emoji face you can find here*

How's this going for you now that Nougat 7.0 is available for the 3S 10?
This is why moat oem removed that option from their devices. The way Android works doesn't really work with apps on sdcards and since Google removed all sdcard code from Android each oem uses their own code and it doesn't always work right.
I can somehow confirm this problem - I'm using a 128GB SanDisk microSD in my Moto G4 Plus (Android 7.0) and it works fine for some time. But occasionally all apps that are installed on the SD card get "corrupted" and force close as soon as you open them. Uninstalling and reinstalling the apps from Play Store solves the problem (reboot / cache wipe / etc. does not in my case). Logcat showed some permission denied errors, so I'm guessing it's a similar problem. Unfortunally it seems like there is almost no discussion about such an issue, if you Google it only stuff like "how to unofficially enable adoptable storage using ADB". Have you tried it with a smaller SD card like 64GB?

No, I haven't. I have heard though that smaller MicroSD cards i.e. 32GB work much more reliably with adoptable storage but haven't tested it myself.
I can confirm that on my s4 mini the adoptable storage runs stable with a 64 GB card - however, I face one nasty issue: after each reboot, the app icons disappear from the launcher. I guess this has to do with too slow mounting of the sd card by the system, however this is annoying. Does anybody have a solution for this? Have LineageOS 14.1 installed.

nougat roms and choice between expanded memory and secondary memory

Okay, I know the differences between setting up the SD card as either expanded usable memory and secondary storage. I know people will have different opinions on this as well. I'm currently using RR and have my 128gb sd card set up to be used as main memory with the memory built into the Redmi Note 4x. It's encrypted so if I want to flash a newer version of the rom I believe I can do it from an OTG flash drive in TWRP (correct me if I'm wrong.)
I'm new to nougat so it looks like if I wanted to switch to using the sd card as secondary I can still move the apps and files in the app's properties in the storage area. Is that correct? I just have lots of apps installed that would take over the 32gb of internal storage. On older phones I've used Link2sd and foldermount to move items and data over to the SD card.
What's the best solution on Nougat without having to use the memory as expanded primary memory?
Thanks in advance.
