KingRoot or KingoRoot? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm not sure where I first saw about this app, but I ended up at:
kingoapp.com
Now I ran into another site:
kingroot.net
because I couldn't download the PC version of KingoRoot from the first link. Both links look to be 2 different companies, so which is real, which is fake, or neither or both?

There is no real or fake rooting app. KingRoot and KingoRoot are two different softwares to root Android. Both are genuine and may be safe to root your Android. I used KingRoot app to root my two android phones and never bricked.

hmm, u wouldnt know offhand one that would do an Alcatel OT Elevate 5017B would u? havent had any luck w searching..

Alright been a few days since I rooted with KingRoot from the kingroot.net website. Did a factory reset, no problems yet. Phone still acts sluggish and retarded. Tried experimenting with some features in ROM Toolbox, i.e. MinFree Manager, and any changes I make arent sticking. Do I need that KingUser app to give things root admin access? Downloaded the app on G Play that said KingUser and it was just a big ad that filled the screen. I take it the real .apk is on one of those mirror sites in google search? with the 5.0.X versions. At work now and those websites are blocked.

I used kingroot on modern stuff, Kingoroot on my SM-T800(Samsung Galaxy Tab S 16gb - WIFI only model)
both worked fine, I dont use the PC version of Kingroot, it has a tad bit o malware/bloatware with it, use the APK version instead

Yeah I downloaded the apk from kingroot.net and used it a few days ago. Then I searched and found KingUser 5.0.4 and ran it, which seems just be an addon to KingRoot? I tried searching for some good performance settings for ROM Toolbox to tweak the kernels available to change to settings on (interactive and ondemand), but all I find are apps to download or kernels to flash. I dont want to do any flashing of any kind just yet. Know where I can find kernel values for performance?

to my knowledge changing kernel values can only be done during compiling, if you mean like power use states etc try kernel adiutor

I used kingo root on sony xperia z2, and rooted phone via pc application in 3 minutes and 2 clicks... I, who knew nothing about rooting did it without mistake with that app... i suggest it.

when I say kernal values I mean .config style, like...
CONFIG_TUN=y
CONFIG_PPP=y
CONFIG_PPP_BSDCOMP=y
CONFIG_PPP_DEFLATE=y
CONFIG_PPP_MPPE=y
CONFIG_PPPOLAC=y
but for kernel settings like frequencies n power options kernel auditor will do the job

Ok I'm wondering if maybe the root wasn't 100%, cause I'm still having problems updating kernel settings, or CPU settings, or MinFree settings. I deleted ROM Toolbox and got Kernel Adiutor, and then I deleted the BusyBox app that ROM Toolbox prompted me to download, and downloaded the BusyBox app that Kernel Adiutor prompted me to download. Now, when I go to say, CPU under Kernel on the categories on the left, sometimes the settings I changed are saved, sometimes not. Same for CPU Hotplug and GPU. And I never get any confirmation that it's been changed, even though Toast is turned on in the Settings. Any ideas?

I am not a fan of KingRoot at all. I just feel that it's just ends up being more work that I feel is necessary.
There are individuals who have success with the app but, I've seen too many individuals who have had so much trouble with it not providing a proper root of their device.
I, personally, use the Wondershare PC software for obtaining root successfully and, when it's done, it also installs SuperSU, purely, for root management.
That's what I recommend using. It has a free trial period too. I ended up purchasing it because I just love the software and all the other features, besides rooting, that it offers.

Orbot (Tor) Compatible ROMs/Kernels List (WHERE? WHO CARES?)

Anyone here having success with ORBOT ?
It's a jungle out there trying to find out which ROM launches Orbot fine (I've tried several) and then a kernel with the simple module included loaded by issuing:
"modprobe ipt_owner"
So god damn simple.
Orbot is such a gain on an Android. Firstly, it opens up the opportunity to only route/proxy things such as syncing.
Other than that, it provides it's "Hidden Services", deepweb or what you would like to call it.
And lastly, it opens up Pandora for some users, it opens up ThePirateBay for others, and many other country restrictions.
I'm beginning to think many of the people who make ROMs and compile kernels never actually used a Linux computer, or know who to treat one, if they do at all know what the difference between a module and a built-in one is and what the "performance" gain is from leaving one module (especially ipt_owner) out of the kernel "for performance" ..
Yeah right, Ninphetamine (or other stimulants that fry your head), SpeedMod (or just amphetamine) ..
Well .. Actually, I think sometimes people patch too much just to write a long changelog, having NO god damn clue about new and old lines of code.
People not using Git at first when patching, well, it's up to them, if they can maintain it and make incremental backups.
So recently I tried "Tegrak Kernel 26" and the newest "Lulz Kernel Build 14" .. Very fine kernel !
Guess what ?
1. First clean Reboot (su, reboot)
2. Start 'Tegrak Kernel' app (works fine)
3. Start Orbot (manually) (disabled on boot to debug logcat)
3.5. Orbot is yellow (Not fully connected)

"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
4. Start 'Tegrak Kernel' again .. This time, lost background connection.
5. Orbot magically turns green instantly when I started 'Tegrak Kernel' app ..
"Connected to the Tor Network" notification pops up, and the missing TRAY icon magically appears !
6. But the Orbot app still shows "YELLOW" incomplete
7. "Check connection" in Orbot is success .. Orbot is running, but is it functioning correctly ?
8. NO- Force Close. And what's the gain? A broken 'Tegrak Kernel' background service.
LOGCAT: http://paste.pocoo.org/show/495957/
I'm beginning to think there is no such thing as people developing for stability, for flexibility, and to support functions in the kernel that certain apps REQUIRE! This is more important than the average battery gauge mod or the so important script and cache tweak that increased your devices performance with about 0.0025% ?
Siyah says it's a unified kernel, well what's unified or flexible if it can't do Orbot ? "One Kernel to Rule Them All" - OK- then start supporting more devices, start supporting more features
And what is good about an "optimized" but unified kernel? Doesn't that mean it is compiled for several arch's and devices ?? Then you could just as well throw the ipt_owner module in and catch all orbot users while you're playing one-size-fits-all (Unified) .. Instead, release several builds, optimized for size, or whatever works for you. One with ipt_owner module and one without ..
And apparently, I'm not alone:
http://www.insecuresystem.org/2010/04/ultimate-droid-and-orbot.html
Neither Orbot or ProxyDroid (used with Irssi Connect) would work on
- XXKI4_CheckROM_RevolutionHD_V2.0.0 ROM
- DarkKnight_Siyah-v2.1-CWM kernel
Used to work fine on unmodified Samsung Frankestein XXKI4.

Who cares?? Well, I do!
I have been trying to get Orbot working for ages now...
Tonight i tried cooking up a ROM in romkitchen. I used speedmod as the kernel, and - lo and behold - orbot doesn't work.
Before that I had exynos extreme 7.2 (i believe the kernel is siyah) - didn't work.
Before that, I had stock everything (with root) - WORKED FINE.
I would happily post on the developer's page of speedmod for some help to enable the netfilter owner option - however not enough posts!!!
I CAN'T WIN LOL...
Having said that, ANY help enabling the netfilter owner option without having to reflash my phone again would be GREATLY appreciated.

2.2 beta 5 should help. Also check olifee's post
Edit: issue has been communicated to bug tracker. Go here
Got it working!!!
Solution found in one of the 900+ pages of the Siyah kernel.
Both Siyah, DarkKnight Siyah kernels and probably many other should have the correct netfilter enabled.
Problem was not in the kernel but in a version of iptables that comes with Orbot (libc issue?). Copying over a working copy of iptables to Orbot directory did the trick and I now have transparent proxy working just fine
See full solution here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=19179917&postcount=9265
What initially confused me was:
ROM developers, please ensure that the following configuration option is enabled in the kernel (either built-in or as a module): CONFIG_NETFILTER_XT_MATCH_OWNER
Click to collapse
But Siyah developper confirmed that CONFIG_NETFILTER_XT_MATCH_OWNER=y is already enabled since 1.7...
You can check available options in /proc/config.gz
Thanks to both of you for your repies.

I installed droidwall from market, copied the iptables file as indicated in the post to the orbot folder, and I renamed it to 'iptables'.
Didn't work... Still using Speedmod S2 K2 3 though, so I'll give Siyah kernel a go and report back.
All working now, thanks!!!
Confirmed - swapping the iptables file from the droidwall install to the orbot folder + using siyah 2.0 = WORKING ORBOT!!!!!!
Thanks once again!
strange works fine for me on a rooted stock rom, guess I was lucky
I need a little bit of help.
Orbot is working for me if I set the proxy in the Wifi-Settings.
The Droidwall is also working.
So my guess is, my Rom Goa v 1.5 and Kernel ICS Abyss 1.3 should be working in general.
But I would love to set up the Transparent Proxying which is not working for me.
I tried the workaround by copying the Iptables-File but I get an error when activating the transparent proxying.
Should I still try another Kernel or do I need to set up anything else? As far as I know, for the transparent proxying, the proxy in the Wifi settings does not have to be enabled, right?
It is working now for me.
AngeloM fixed a config line in his Abyss Ics Kernel v 1.4.
But I also had to fix the permissions in the recovery console.

Possible to root the new Acer liquid Z3 (maybe with SuperOneClick) ?

Hi,
Before buying the new Z3, I was wondering if it was possible to root it? I didnt find any info on this on the net...
It runs the new android 4.2 jelly bean.
Thanks for your help guys
Hi, like you I'd like to know if this mobile could be rooted... ?
Anyone ?
---------- Post added at 09:22 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:11 PM ----------
I think it's posssible with SRSRoot
See : http://www.srsroot.com/supported and look for Acer Z130 (that the model name of the Z3)
Root done on my ACER Liquid Z3 with SRSRoot.
The more difficult was to install ADB driver for the phone on Win 7 64 bits.
I found a solution here : http://gizbeat.com/1273/pdanet-adb-auto-driver-for-windows/ (source XDA forums here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=39247281)
Possibly yes.
Not sure. But probably it would have one as it's predecessor can be rooted. Even I would like to have an answer for this query by someone, expert in that.

Well I talked to fast, I have a problem because my apps don't recognize the phone is rooted.
I have the Superuser app in the list, no problem.
But when I launch Titanium Backup for example, it says it doesnt gave the root rights so it can't start.
Same with other apps...
I rooted the phone with SRS
Thanks for any kind help
Well even if I have SuperUser app in the list, I checked with "Root checker" and it says my phone is not rooted....
So now I have to uninstall superuser app( unroot?) and re-root the phone with another tool than SRS, probably with the one suggested kornjung

I managed to route my Acer Liquid Z3 on the second go. If you have used SRS and failed first unroot it using SRS so it thinks its not rooted.
Then select "Smart Root".
When prompted on your phone select "SuRoot" from the drop down list. Not the default.
Then select Bromir (which was the only option that I got on mine).
Using these I was successfully able to root the Z3 and then go in and delete all the crap like Facebook.apk, etc.
What I cannot figure out is how to take a damn screenshot!

Has anyone tried to overclock the cpu on this phone? Noticed any improvements?
does this work for the dual sim version, too?
and, in case, does this phone have a call filter/black list system embedded? so to block calls from specific people, or maybe block them only on one sim and not the other... or, having root thanks to the instructions in this thread, do call filter apps on playstore work? in general alternative dialers and call filter apps are very badly working on dual sim phones...
z3 duo rooted with framaroot 1.6.1... enabled usb debug ad per previous posts in this thread, and enabled unknown sources in settings, security... installed apk, opened, clicked boromir, rebooted and device rooted... no need to install driver or connect to pc AT ALL... as soon as reconnected to network, updated supersu via play store, and installed titanium... just integrated 14 updates in rom, i'm happy

Did you overclock the processor to 1.2Ghz to get that 9757 score in Antutu? Mine does not get any higher than 8834 on stock clock (1Ghz).

No. I have not over clocked. I just cleared all junk that starts up background processes, and ran Antutu on the default clock speed.

Acer Z130 Sound Quality and Loudness
Is there anyway to improve Z130's sound quality and loudness?
Despite being a device with DTS logo on it, it produces the worst audio I have ever experienced. (Both with DTS on and off.)

[MOD][UNOFFICIAL] WakeBlock for the V20!

To start off, credit goes to @GioBozza, @CappyT, @pioccd, @TotemFallico, @SimoIanni. They made this mod. All I did was port it to the V20.
ORIGINAL THREAD (go drop a "Thanks"): https://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6p/development/wakeblock-blocking-drain-late-t3526313
Next, some caveats:
Neither I nor the users mentioned above take any responsibility for anything that goes wrong with you installing this.
I have personally tested this on the H918 on the 10k firmware. I see no reason for it not to work on other variants, BUT MAKE BACKUPS!!!
This mod is unofficial, and will remain so, meaning I may not be able to update it for every release, whether that be a new Android version for the V20, or a new mod version.
This is for STOCK ONLY.
This mod requires ROOT.
Again, MAKE BACKUPS!!!!!!!!!
Instructions (READ THROUGH THEM FIRST):
Backup `/system/framework/services.jar` and `/system/framework/oat/arm64/services.odex` (The latter is only relevant for ODEXed ROMs).
Download and install the app from the linked thread.
Download the `services.jar` file attached or linked in this post.
Copy it to your device somewhere safe (such as `/sdcard/`).
Use either the command line or a root file explorer to copy the downloaded JAR to `/system/framework/`, overwriting the current one. (YOU MADE A BACKUP, RIGHT?)
Make sure its permissions are set to 0644 (rw-r--r--).
Use either the command line or a root file explorer to delete the `services.odex` file that you made a backup of I'm sure C_C.
Reboot.
(If you have TWRP 3.1.1-1, you'll have to keep the backups on your device somewhere, since it doesn't support MTP right now!)
If all went well, your phone will boot successfully and you'll have some pretty fine control over your wakelocks. If not, restore your backups using the TWRP file manager and try again.
If you have any questions about the installation process, ask here. Otherwise, ask on the linked thread.
Nice job!
Good job everyone!

Excellent work! Been hoping this would get unoffiical support.
Edit: Damn, doesn't seem to boot on NotSoStock for the H918. I wonder if Tilde changed something in services.jar
@Zacharee1 nice find.
What are you using to compare before and after results of the mod?
Using the link you posted and github I've added the the mod to my rom all seems well but not sure which app will measure this best?
Also is there an app or something you are using to control which wakelock you want to block?
I tried the playstore version, but says device not supported...
Either way it doesn't seem to have any negative effects so far so I guess I'll just wait for a few days to see if there are any noticeable improvements...
Thanks for your work and contributions to this community!
Hopefully you'll still be using this device by time I finally go public with oZoP! Hopefully soon, but can't really say how much longer. Still many, many hours

I'm using Wakelock Detector Free to see which wakelocks are still happening. Some of them can't be blocked without causing systwm_server to continually crash, so you have to be careful.
The core kid is unsupported on this phone, not the app. If you swipe to the wakelocks tab, you should see a bunch.
I'm going to be on this phone for at least 2 years, so no worries there.

If yours looks like this too you can proceed blocking wakelocks. Please refeer to this thread to see which wakelocks to block(remember that the WakeBlock app asks for the block time in milliseconds so you need to add 3 zeros to the guide's times)

Don't use WakeBlock to block WifiOffDelayIfNotUsed. Your phone will reboot when connected to WiFi, disconnected from power, and put to sleep. This wakelock has been causing me some headaches, so here's an experimental JAR that just disables the wakelock altogether. Test it using the same instructions as in the OP (it does boot; I tested that far), and report any weird behavior. I won't be able to fix anything that happens because of this, but it'll be good for others to have that information.
If this goes well, I think I'll try packaging this into an AROMA installer. I've always wanted to try making one of those.

Thank you! Sorry I was unable to reply yesterday. I'll give it a try
Edit: No luck unfortunately, still fails to boot. I've attached the services.jar from NSS 6.5
Just tried this on stock H910 and it couldn't get past the ATT logo. I replaced the .jar file and changed the permissions to 0644. Did I need to delete the .odex file in the .jar?
Will this work on G5?
Looks very interesting - out of curiosity has anyone had the dreaded "anx_wlock" kernel wakelock/battery drain on the V20 and managed to fix it with this?
Thanks. Works great on WETA 5.0.7 H918

Genesys 26s for LePro3 X722 Elite

admin note: leader image removed. plz refrain from reposting
Hi all.
We have a fully functional ROM 26s with no fear of bricks, and no bootloader locks!!
First of all, my ROMs are totally open to anyone who has some knowledge of development, and can use my source are no problem at all. I'm just asking you to mention that I developed this source, but it's not a requirement either, I'm just saying that it seems ethical.
The changelog is next:
Re-compiled kernel to avoid bootloader lockdown
Cleaning of Chinese applications
Replaced the original browser with Chrome
Google Play Store and pre-installed Google Services
Contact and Google calendar synchronization
Google Keyboard
Rooted with Magisk
Busybox pre-installed
Small improvements and tweaks to improve performance
Please note that LeEco and its EUI layer is very sensitive to use Google Services. It only serves a specific version and must be placed when compiling the ROM in a specific directory. Therefore, the first thing to do when you enter Play Store is to "force" it to update the services. I use a trick, and that's installing the Linkedin application, which just when you run it needs the services and updates them
The QR LeEco code reader embeds it inside the browser, not in an external application. Therefore, unless we install an app for it we will not be able to read QR codes.
And finally, I have disabled the phone's security check feature, since there is no specific TWRP. So BEWARE AND MAKE SURE YOUR MOBILE IS AN X722 ELITE BEFORE INSTALLING GENESYS!!.
Installation Method:
I assume you have TWRP installed. I've used TWRP for X720 all the tests:
We enter TWRP by pressing the power button and simultaneously pressing the VOL+, until the RECOVERY screen appears.
We copied the ROM to the root of the phone.
We make wipe, the default one is enough.
We will install ourselves, select the ROM and give you to install.

No, only languages that stock ROM.
Nice development! Thanks guys!
This is a big step, thanks Steve
Is 26s an improvement over 20s in any discernable way? They both seem to behave similarly. Maybe 26s is better for battery life or heat output.
Thanks for the ROM, btw.
STEVE_MARS, please, could you make an archive for the firmware via the TWRP, which returns the stock browser and the QR scanner. I tried to recover these files from firmware 20S, but the browser closes with an error. I apologize for the bad English, this is not my native language.

Thanks amigo! Will def try, hope i'll not brick my phone, but if i do this i can still use pay apps and other apps?
My phone still needs to arrive but I guess it will be here soon, maybe by that time some people already managed to install android 7/8 on it.. ( https://forum.xda-developers.com/le...le-pro-3-elite-x722-lineage-os-t3660482/page6 )
Let's see what the future brings but again you did very great work! :good:
No vendor ROM passes SafetyNet natively, and I'm pretty sure this ROM doesn't either, even if you removed Magisk, busybox, etc. and unrooted completely. You may need to pass SafetyNet to use certain payment apps like Android Pay and some banking apps. Even some games check for SafetyNet. Thankfully, you can circumvent SafetyNet by using Magisk, and this ROM comes with it.
You're incredible.
Keep up the great work.
This device needs developers like you @STEVE_MARS
Hi Steve, Thanks for your work. I found only minor things (maybe is my personal flavor) : no network speed indicator in status bar. And also, stock browser have slide gesture for forward and backward which works same as safari on Iphone: it return to same page at same place: if you scroll to the middle of page and move to another you can revert to same place). I didn't find an alternative solution for chrome or firefox.
Thanks,
Andrei

About network speed you must activate it into Phone Manager/Data usage control/Settings (Up right icon)/Display real-time speed.
And about stock browser, too much push notificacion in chinese... I dont like it

Trojan on Gretel A9 smart phone

Hello, I have been having trouble for months with a Gretel A9 smart phone provided by my employer.
The thing seems to be infected by a Trojan which cannot be removed by Factory Restore, or any virus program I have been able to find. (Malwarebytes will detect and clear it, but it comes back straight away).
Here are the symptoms:
-Horrendous pop-ups advertising games
Such as "Grumpy Gorrilla", "Oh No", "99 Balls", and "Sticky Glue). These pop ups are difficult to remove and require scrolling on the advert to find the X to remove, which often leads to clicking on the pop up itself.
This ended up with the phone being subscribed to "Demon Games", running up a £50 phone bill with the network provider.
-Constant browser pop ups to a website called "Aiboo.cc" which I am sure has something to do with it.
-An app called "Magic" which comes up as a virus on malware bytes, and keeps reappearing on the phone, with a little picture of a blue Octopus.
-Constantly tells me I have a new Whatsapp message, but when clicked on, something called "H5 Games" comes up.
-Lake worth ISD is another dodgy app that keeps appearing.
The phone is running Android 6.0.1
Please, help me if you can. I have tried resetting numerous times, and I've researched everything I have found but there's no information online about any of these things.
If it's provided by your employer than return it to him and refuse to use it until fixed or received new one.
To remove any files from system you need a root access. You have to root your device first but you lose warranty
If I return it, they will only provide me with a tiny 'Alcatel Pixi' phone, which is just awful to use.
I think I may try to Root it, but I have no experience doing this

Ok, I will figure out how to get this done and post it tomorrow night (it's late here now and I need to figure out how to do it).
I will also keep a log of what appears on the phone during the day, as I get various messages and pop-ups.
Really do appreciate any help on this, as it has me and my work stumped. It would be a decent phone to use were it not for this terrible virus/trojan.
A quick scan on Malwarebytes came up with this:
2 Malware found
-Android/Trojan.Agent.ASH
(Installed Application - Settings) [I repeatedly get a fake application called Settings]
--------------
-Android/Trojan.Dropper.Agent.CKA
(Installed Application - Magic) [This is the app with the Octopus Icon which I mention earlier]
Tried wiping these off the phone numerous times, both manually and using Malware bytes and other virus apps, but they persistently come back.

Did my own research. A number of phones came pre-installed with the Triada malware/virus, which is a well-known case. Unfortunately, Gretel A9 was one of those.
I downloaded the stock rom 3.04 and 3.02 both are infected and the only solution I see is replacing the lib which is causing this and deleting the .apk that is also causing this (based on what I could tell). However, I need to know specifically which version you are running and also what the result of the Dr. Web scan is (please post a screenshot). We could try to repack the cleaned system.img and then you can flash that. However, there are no guarantees it'll work.
TWRP and a few custom roms are available for your phone + general discussion here: https://4pda.ru/forum/index.php?showtopic=807386.
I have posted a Dropbox link to a screenshot of my About Phone..

Currently running a full scan with Dr Web Lite and it has detected 20 threats so far, that's far more than malware bytes or any other virus scanner I have used.
Once that's done I will post the results

Sounds good! Did some more research, Alberto96 posted this in 2017 (huge thanks for providing both TWRP + the K10 and A9 firmware) https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=77545922&postcount=7 and I've succesfully compared the firmware. My thinking here is - replace the clean files from the Oshiyama K10 stock firmware with the infected ones from the Gretel A9. Repack system.img and then you can try flashing the new system.img via SP Flash Tools. Alternatively, flash TWRP and we'll have to figure out how to create a new flashable system.img script.
I'm having a hard time getting it onto one screenshot despite trying to save it as a long shot, but here is some of the Dr Web diagnosis..

Just looked through this thread and I can confirm they were getting the exact same symptoms. Everything they described is what is happening with my phone.

Thanks. If you can pull the full detection list that would be great.
I need to know what some of the detections are associated with, so can you run 'adb shell' and then 'pm list packages –f' like this example:
Then copy the list and post it here as .txt preferably.
Currently decompiling the rest of the 3.04 firmware to see if they've hidden malware in the other partitions as well. If not, we're all set to have you flash a test cleaned test rom if you're up for it.

Sorry about the format, I'm not so tech savvy, I'm sure that's the lot. I'll now start working on the other instructions you gave me (abd)
Still trying to figure out how to use ABD.
I am following the instructions on here:

I have download the SDK tools, and unzipped them to a new folder, but I do not see the SDK Manager EXE

The problem is, it won't boot. You need to flash the system.img only - but the K10 system.img needs to have the required libs from the A9, e.g. fingerprint, cam libs. Though there's no indication hereof, the K10 may pack malware as well. But like I said, I can repack the K10 system.img with the required A9 files and Huscarl can test it. This can likely be omitted, if we can repack the stock rom with the clean files from the K10 system.img. That's why I need to know what packages are linked to the Dr. Web detections aside from SecurityService and libandroid_runtime.so.
An alternative quick fix: flash TWRP, root the phone, run Dr. Web and let it remove the malware. However, as research indicates, the problem still persists for some users.
