I am running a non-rooted Moto Z Force. I have installed GBoard and would like to be able to use the voice to text option. However, when I click on the microphone the text to speech keyboard comes up but stops listening. Even if I hit the button in the middle of the keyboard I just get a quick beep and it never attempts to listen. I am however able to use the voice to text from my watch. Could there be some sort of conflict between my watch and phone? I have tried several different apps and get the same result. I have uninstalled and reinstalled GBoard multiple times.
Hello,
Is you media volume on? Because some time a go my google voice also didn't work.
I didn't have a clue why it didn't worked till I discovered that I put my media volume to zero.....

Anybody have any hints for using voice recognition with a headset? It knows I'm trying to talk to it, but it doesn't seem to know what I'm saying so it keeps telling me to try again instead of dialing.
I've been experimenting and if I use the Voice Search application on the phone everything appears to work except that somehow sound coming and going is completely cut off.
Voice Dialer doesn't work with the headset or without.
I can use Voice Search to place the call and then turn on my headset and switch over, but I get an error on the screen that the communication app has failed. The error being on screen doesn't interfere with the call though.
Odd effect is that the volume control buttons got stuck on bluetooth in-call volume. I had to restart the phone to clear it.
I assume you are referring to voice dialing from a bluetooth headset. As far as I can tell from reading the forums it never worked but has been fixed in the new 351 update (Android 2.2.2). It didnt work for me on the 318 build but now does on the 351 build. I dont believe voice search works from a bluetooth headset though as far as I know.

i use cyberon voice speed dial, it works but u have to shout loud the names
tried with different bt headsets
Anyone using the razr headset with the phone? everytime i workout with this headset i feel like banging my phone on the blardy wall..
For some strange reason it automatically dials my recent calls. I think its something to do with the microphone..when i pant or take deep breaths the voice command thingy comes on, and sometime suddenly just randomly call people...good god its annoying as hell!
anyone know how to disable it? the only reason i use this headset over my seinheriser is cause its LOUD. when your in the gym you need loud bass to keep the pump!
Have you tried restarting the phone? I've had Voice Commands go crazy on me and not let me use my headset to control my music. A simple restart fixed it.
Have you tried a different headset? Maybe you got some sweat in the mic and it screwed something up. I've had this happen also. Do the Sennheisers you mentioned have a mic with music control?
If you're rooted you can freeze Voice Command using Titanium Backup.
Ill try freezing it and see how it goes. No my Sennheisers do not have a mic, thats why it does not happen when i use them, but the sound produced is softer, which is why i dont use em.
Restarting does not help.
Ran in to the same problem with my brother's phone; the problem is voice commands hijacks the headset button. There is an easy way to disable that, for those who are not rooted or don't want to freeze the app: go to settings, Applications and change the double-tap home launch setting to None. Now headset works as it should and controls PowerAmp, rather than popping up voice commands every time.
I had the same issue with mine. Freezing it with Titanium worked perfectly.
If you have an issue with it stopping your music as if disconnected it, I haven't found a fix for that.
And i always find best sony earphones with isolation and with noise cancelling, you'll enhance max trebles in sound settings, get PowerAmp to enhance on basses and for sake of this gorgeous combination forget about microphone.
Original earphones are always not good enough. Always must buy separately.
mass.w on droidrazr
Use "rom tool box" and freeze
mass.w on droidrazr
U can go to settings and changing the double tap home button to something else. Ur probably hitting the home button twice during ur work out.

Has anyone been able to disable voice commands on stock? It's annoying trying to use pandora with headphones that have a button because the voice command prompt keeps popping up. One work around I've found is to use Headset Button Controller app.
You can also use media button router.... its free in the play store... allows you to map bluetooth device buttons to a specific app or apps... necessity with the ICS leaks because android hijacks the play button for voice commands if you use Pandora or a third party app to play music...

I'm not sure what's causing this. It seems to have started when I first rooted the phone. Voice recognition isn't working. When I try to use google search the circle around the microphone icon will move, but the icon doesn't turn red as it does when it recognizes voice. If I cup my hands around the microphone on the phone and pretty much yell, sometimes I can get it to work. Other times I can't. Tried another test, downloaded a voice recording app and when I recorded, I could hear my voice but it was INCREDIBLY quiet. I couldn't make out what I was saying at full volume. I have had no complaints about my voice when on phone calls. Does anyone have any idea what this is, or what a fix would be? I'm rooted currently, have tried multiple different roms with the same outcome. Am I just missing a setting somewhere?
I picked up an HBS-730. It sounds good, the Call button works fine for picking up a call or last number redial (by two short presses of Call) but when I long press it I don't get the voice dialer (or any other voice app).
Is there a file in System that I need to edit or run? I do have the LG and Google voice components installed. I've also tried unpairing and repairing the headset.
On a long press I end up with a roughly half second "beep" in the headset.
Alternately, anyone know of an app that captures a BT Call longpress, that you can then assign an app to?
(It sounds like trapping a longpress is something done in a .jar file, not a case of just touching the .kl files)
Thanks!
Hmmm....
Check your BT volume.
Volume is fine on calls, and playing music.
Headset Mic also works fine on calls and for voice commands if I manually launch voice dialer or Google search.
It just seems that a long press of the Call button isn't properly launching voice dialer, that's why I'm looking for an apk or a setting to edit.

The LG voice dialer is bland, try this. I know it works.

I tried the VoiceCommand app from Play Store, unfortunately same problem. I don't get a voice ommand prompt, on either a single short press or a long press of the Call button on my BT headset.
A single short press does work to connect an incoming call, or disconnect, any a double short press does activate last number redial, so I believe my headset is overall working okay, but I am not hooking a voice command app at all. On a single short press nothing happens, and on a longpress I get a beep, but that is all.
Headset volume works fine, the mic works fine (if I manually launch VoiceCommand, whether the LG app or Google, it picks up fine), just that my phone isn't linking the Call button to launch any VoiceCommand app, on either a single press or a long press.
I disabled the lg voice command and use Google and it works for me

Did you ever get to the bottom of this as I am having the same issue. On my Xperia Z2 I can choose what I want to activate when I press the call button on my car kit but on the G3 it mutes my radio but never brings anything up on the phone.
I have also tested it with a different bluetooth kit and it still doesn't do anything so it is definitely a phone issue.
I froze some files and maybe froze something I shouldn't have, but factory resets are not doing any good for me as they seem to only partially reset my phone (Frozen apps still do not appear even after factory resetting and also flashing a totally new firmware!)
My G3 will not allow me to Voicedial and I was hoping someone with an operative G3 on their car kit could download a program called Clear Defaults or Default App Manager Lite and advise me what program they have as Default for Voice Dialing (I am not too sure what the heading is exactly as my G3 doesn't show it at all)
Clear Defaults
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.zealdroid.cleardefaults&hl=en
Default App Manager
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.appiator.defaultappmanager&hl=en
I am trying to get troubleshoot this issue instead of returning it as I bought mine from eBay.
Is there actually someone who has the voice-dialing in his G3 working? I'm waiting also for a solution.
Voice dialing with Google works fine on the phone for me. Via Bluetooth in my car is also fine. nothing in default apps mentions voice dialing.
Oooooo, the voice dialer in the phone.... mine does not work either.
Does there happen anything when long-pressing the button in your car/on your Bluetooth headset?
Long pressing the button does nothing in the car or not.
LG G5, rooted
My phone, dialer, and mic work well with non-Google apps. However, my Google apps don't seem to recognize any spoken input:
"Ok Google" just sits at the dots, not registering any input
I can't train Google Assistant
Hangouts doesn't register any spoken input nor has the speakers output any sound
What's odd is that when I hang up on a Hangouts Dial call, I briefly hear sound. So, from what I can gather, the phone is generally working but somehow there's something specific to how Google wants to do its job that's not working.
Uninstalling data/updates to Google/Google Now didn't do anything. Permissions seem to be fine.
Any ideas?
