What? Take care of yourself. It's disappointing that I spent last year 750$ on Nexus 6P and I got problems with it like shut down off under 20% percent of battery life, while Apple has similar problems for their devices and they are fixing it.

Cool. Please let us know if you think it solved the problem of shut off below 20% (if you were experiencing that issue at all). It's a tough one to identify because for me it happens about half of the time, not all of the time.
Thanks. Good luck!

No problem here. Hope you find the problem.

Disappointed that we don't get the assistant yet and no swipe on the fingerprint sensor. Other than that so far so good.

Please can someone post up the build.prop for 7.1.2 beta. Thanks.

The 7.1.2 beta just installed on my phone and now I'm not getting any Google now cards. It just says can't reach your feed at the moment. Does anyone else have this problem?

I get same error intermittently on my Pixel XL right now, so it's not 6p-specific.

Does anyone know if any of the pixel mods work on the beta?

I extracted the boot and modified it with dm-verity and force encryption disabled. But now I'm not sure how to test, I would need the images and not the update zip to fastboot flash the rest of update Images. I guess one would just update then fastboot flash boot. Or does google post preview images elsewhere? My work pc has fastboot setup and I'll update then test and report back. If anyone wants to try it here's the link.

I've read the finger print gestures were coming through the 7.1.2 beta and rumor has it 7.1.3 was getting Google assistant. But they did state "rumor has it" so don't know what's all in the 7.1.2 beta for us Nexus 6P folks.

the problem is the battery, early battery degradation, they could mitigate this issue on the software side but it won't stop completely and the battery will keep getting worse.
I changed mine and no more shutdown and 2x more battery life.
and the reason why you only have this issue half the time is because if you use certains apps that use high voltage, it will trigger the shutdown (launching the the camera and taking picture is the easiest way to do it)

It's still shutting down early on 7.1.2, nothings fixed.

This error is not due to android 7.1.2. I'm experiencing same on android 7.1.1 on my moto g having RR 5.8.2 rom.So, I guess it is more of a server side problem or a problem in google app itself

I and my wife both had the early shutdown problems on our phones - she's on an iPhone6 and I'm on the 6p. I got an RMA phone, and no more problems (exactly the same software setup). I don't think it's a software problem, and highly suspect planned obsolescence where the batteries are designed to have cells have a life of around 18 months or so. One of the cells in the battery dies, and so the voltage drops off way fast once the remaining good cells discharge and the phone battery meter can't figure out what's going on. I'd bet a box of doughnuts that no software change is going to fix the actual problem. I have no proof of that, just skeptical observation.
If I were a black helicopter & tin foil hat person, I'd even have a hint of wonder if that's what happened to the Explod-a-Note. Maybe the manufacturers were pushing the envelope of how little past the warranty date they could get the (non-replaceable) batteries to die. AFAIK, battery tech isn't much more compact / more mAH in recent years, so just makes me wonder...

[Q] Glitched screen

The issue is about screen getting glitched output. I don't think this is a software issue. There is some hardware issue because I tried flashing 5.0, 5.0.2, 5.1.1 still problem persists. Randomly at any time the glitched screen like seen in the pic is popped up in between from any app or just home screen. First i thought some app may be causing this but its not the issue. I deleted all the apps still this problem stays.

I've been spreading word in xda about the same issues. If you search the Q/A forum, you'd find too many people having this issue. This is due to a faulty GPU when the device heats up excessively. Recurrent issue in a Nvidia chip. If you bought it recently within 30 days on eBay, I'd suggest you return your device and claim your money back. Else I'm afraid you are screwed since neither HTC nor Google offer warranty if purchased through unofficial sources in India.

Now that what i feared. Let me see if they will take this back. Anyway thanks for the info that was really helpful
Unfortunately your Nexus 9 is toast. This happened to my first one and it got so bad it would happen during boot and I couldn't get any further. HTC was next to unless. Delt with them for 3 weeks trying to get an exchange. They are clueless. They wanted to try flashing stock image over and over. I'm like dude, I'm a Nexus owner. Don't you know your customer base? Anyways, best buy agreed to exchange it for a new one if I bought their premium protection plan, which I did gladly. But it is a hardware failure. There's no fixing it.
I just had my day one nexus replaced for the same issue last week. Had been getting worse for months. I called warranty service, told them about the screen corruption/noise/lockup issue needing a mainboard replacement. sent my tablet back and they overnited me a replacement that appears brand new (mine was mint condition as well). Still has lightbleed and so-so buttons but works great and I've put it through its paces. Only thing I had to tell them was the serial # but I was the original amazon purchaser.
Is it a newer build date than your original?
I had an experience similar to techiedj's. Got my old N9 replaced by Google a few weeks ago. Replacement looked brand new, but is actually an older built with slightly crappier buttons. Curious how long this one will last now...
These are the symptoms that I saw: At some point the screen started to flicker for a few seconds, then froze, and slowly turned black. After a few second I could turn on the display again. The area on the back next to the camera had become hot, but apps that read the sensor values did not really show high temperature (50 degrees or so). A good way to trigger it was to open Chrome and open multiple pages in a short time (opening different links in new tabs). Surprisingly, seemingly GPU intense games were less affected by this than Chrome. Factory reset did not help, even when I skipped the initial login/restore apps step.
Hopefully they aren't all doomed to this fait at some point. I have best buys replacement plan now, so this this can die early Jan 2017 and I'll get whatever the new Nexus is then.
Not really. HT4AJ I think it was, HT4AY on this one.

I went from an AE to an AF. Hard to believe best buy still had old stock, but I guess they didn't sell a lot of these. Buttons are nearly perfect on this one though. Way more tactile and the volume up isn't sunken in.

Z3v Overheating

My phone has been over heating. A LOT. Even with basic use. No gaming or anything. Anyone experience this? I called tech and they were no help. Told me to run in safe mode and remove my SD card..... Ya that won't work for me.
Thinking about full wipe but I dread resetting up everything.

I haven't had any issues like that. Only over heading I experienced were while using car navigation while wireless charging. You can try shopping cache plus restart to see if something is stuck, or if you have a new installation freeze that and see if things get better.
Another thing to look at is detailed battery use, see if there is any surprises. Many times the app that causes heating will also cause faster battery drain. If you can't find the app then full wipe may be needed.
Edit: one other question, did you change case recently? some cases don't transfer heat as well.
I did. A lot. Got to the point that I could take one picture and the camera would shut off because it was over heating. Hard reset didn't fix anything. I also had wireless problems (wifi would never stay off, airplane mode didn't work), and battery life was pretty poor (coming from Note 2). Replacement phone seems much better on all counts.
Thanks for the info guys. No case on the phone. Still working on rooting and playing with Xposed.... Maybe something there will help.... Or just have Verizon send a new one. I really do love this phone... So hopefully I can resolve this.... Maybe lollipop will help... If we ever get it....

Update
So had Verizon send me a new phone..... Have had it a day and a half and have already seen signs of over heating...... Granted it's close to 100 outside..... But I've been in the car with AC using GPS and it was getting really warm. I've had SEVERAL other phones with the same or more heavy usage with no over heating issues......
Not sure what to do. If it keeps up I'm going to have to consider a new phone....
Anyone know of any risks using the phone when it's over heating??? It's not going to explode or catch fire is it???

Same here. I can use the camera on this one but this is annoying. Might sell and go back to my trusty Note 2 that still hasn't sold anyway.
Anybody find any workarounds (besides the tin-foil inside the case thing)? I get camera shut-down after just playing around with the various modes without even recording anything. Thinking about getting an ice-pack to mount on the phone when I want to record videos......

I was having the overheat issue when I used the camera, so i downloaded the google camera app and it seems to work better.
My wife and I got refurbished phones from VZW, her's crashes to home screen now (Camera) and mine works for a few minutes longer than the old one.
Right now I am looking into getting a new phone, this one is getting annoying, want something I can get current Android version on and not a year old unpatched (Stagefright) leak that is not even Marshmallow.

For water resistance is better the m4 aqua
And when the phone is overheating, you can put the phone in cold water hehe :silly: [emoji23]
It doesn't heat up to the point that is unbearable. But it does heat up. And don't dunk the phone inti water after it has heated. You risk cracking the screen.
Immediate contraction and expansion for glass substrate is bad.
Actually I need to know about the overheating issue Gone after the update?? Or at least normalized or reduced?? I am planning to buy this device so please let me know more about the device. Thanks in advance.
Which update do you mean? Well it does overheat, but it´s not bad and you mostly won´t feel it because it heats up in the NFC area just above the index finger while you hold it. Overally, it´s acceptable and you can warm your hands during the winter
don't buy

My advice is don't buy, I got the device from T-Mobile, and when playing any simple game it heats up and then it restart on it's own, after restarting i lose my installed apps and get only generic icons that some of them you can not remove unless you reset to factory default. I am planing to take it to service to check the issue, and I had the phone for only one month.

I recommend , heating as said by others is not much, device performance is very good, and with a software update to 5.1.1 or 6.0 will make it better , 5.0 is a bit buggy in comparison to the new versions (after all it was the first version of lollipop ) , but it's good .
Does turning off nfc solve the m4 aqua heating problem?
This guy says so.
http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=3dMHYiUYVVc
I've had it since release and ya she'll heat up... I used to have GSAM and it wasnt nothing for it to get upwards of 120° if say you were on fb then took some pictures and then played Clash of Clans...
Now I've since, very recently I might add got rid of a bunch of phone monitoring crap ie GSam, CCCleaner, Greenify, Cleanmaster as well as a few unused apps so all I have in that category is Better Battery Stats and let me tell you the phone runs smoother and alot cooler all the time!!!
There's a reason all these monitoring apps have to have special permissions and special side apps to allow them to work with the new version of Android.... Bc Android doesn't need them anymore! That's why they made it so hard to install those apps but those app creators won't let it go. So do yourself a favor and clean your phone up people, Android is optimized these days to take care of itself.
And yes buy the phone its the best phone I've ever had!

Waiting for rma, random thought...

I'm currently waiting for my 6P rma to arrive, for battery shutdown issues, and a very small lift in the screen near Power/Volume buttons.
Since T-Mobile is going to start sending out an ota that will prevent Note 7s from charging, it got part of my mind wondering, are all the devices that are having battery shutdown/bootlooping problems (afaik, 6P, 5x, and some Pixels) using flash memory supplied by Samsung? How does a provider like T-Mobile target only Note 7s and not other phones that have Samsung parts? Is it purely based off of imei #s?

Just looking for any other commonalities among all affected devices (other than software). Afaik, the devices with these problems are 6Ps, 5x, and i guess now Pixels as well, from reading the reddit sub there. And i was mainly curious as to how a provider would target a certain phone model, by just using imei's or what.

Apparently the G5 has the issue as well.
Yeah, more than likely by targeting the iemi. I guess I read your op as you thinking them shutting done the note 7 possibly being a reason as to why this was happening. If that's the case then you having the issue before 7.0 totally debunks that.
I read huawei made a statement that the issue is software based. But I dunno, if that's the case, I have no idea why they would have offered you an RMA.
I've never had it happen to me, then again I don't think I've ever let this device get below 45% before I ran into a wall outlet, or a car

Haha no problem. Oh i didn't know it was happening with the g5. Yes, mines been happening since summer but infrequently. After Nougat, it's been happening more often. My rma was through Google not Huawei. I think in my case, it was because i had a veryyyyy small lift beginning to appear on edge of screen near the power/volume buttons, and i bought from the play store.
Well i wish it to never happen to your phone. Yeah i don't know who to believe, if it's software or hardware.

Well the update that is pushed out is a Samsung update(impossible to install on a Nexus), not a Nexus 6p update, so there is zero chance these could be related. I have two 6ps and no issues so far, knock on wood, one has Samsung storage and the other is Toshiba.
@Lawlrus hey buddy!
sorry somewhat off-topic, since you said that the random reboot is a Nougat issue, i thought maybe you'll know something about home button bugs i am having on Nougat based custom Roms.
it always happens randomly, or especially after i apply a theme with substratum (rom i use have full oms support) theme apply correctly, but the home button stops responding like when i tap it to return home it just wont do.
and it works again either after a couple of hours, or when i reboot the phone it works again normally. (and the bug will return if i uninstall theme and install another theme.) is this issue related to substratum you think ?

I had it on Marshmallow so it can't be a Nougat problem. The fact Google are RMAing them outside warranty also shows its not something they can fix with software.

I've noticed that as of late, and I don't understand what the issue is honestly. Normally after it happens, if I pull up recents and close all the windows, it works again
I'll have to start to take notice if its every ROM I'm on or if its isolated.
But yeah, its most certainly an issue with applying layers, as it just recently started happening and is the only time it happens. I do know that the substratum guys are making a ton of changes it seems as of late with the templates that themes are using, so its very possible that the next or a future sub update will fox the issues.

I had to replace my pixel 6 display and the fingerprint sensor with it. When I went on to calibrate the sensor with Google's calibration software, it says "Couldn't find the unique calibration software for this device" after trying to download the software. Has anyone had this issue? I would really appreciate any help on getting this fixed...
Thank you.

Have you tried this? https://www.xda-developers.com/google-pixel-6-fingerprint-sensor-calibration-tool/ You need to use Chrome to d/l this I believe.
I'm having the same issue. I've searched the forum and don't see a answer to why the software isn't downloading.
Thank you all for the replies.

I somehow got in contact with google support yesterday, but the "fingerprint scanner guy" was busy they said, and they'll contact me via email. I will post here if they give me a solution. I was wondering if flashing the factory image will solve the issue.
You ever hear back? I'm on the phone with Google and they don't even know about the fingerprint calibration software. They want to warranty my phone, but I didn't go through an authorized repair so we'll see.

I didn't get a proper response from google. However, I got a response in an iFixit forum.
"Hey Tilan, speaking as a Google Certified Technician, through the pixel repair process, there is currently issues with the finger calibration connection via Windows. So far, all of my store’s computers are not able to properly run the fingerprint calibration. The only time that I was able to make it successful was through another android phone, in this case was my Pixel 5, and another Chromebook. Got news that some other location starts to have it working on their computers, but don’t take my words for it"
I still haven't tried this though.
Having the same issue for the Pixel 6 Pro after screen replacement.
Spoke with Google Support and they mentioned that the December update should solve the issue.
Fingers crossed as I haven't received the update yet.
Hopefully it works after the update.

I received an update on Dec 14th for pixel 6. Unfortunately, it didn't fix the issue

Same with me either.
Even the latest security patch didn't work for me.
But swapping the old fingerprint scanner from the broken screen to the new screen worked.(It did not even required calibration as it recognised the fingerprint straight away).
Just a really poor launch by Google. Buggy software everywhere.
Are there just some people's FPs that just work well with many diff kinds of phones and with both optical and ultrasonic FPS? I've used Samsung's versions, OnePlus and Google now and I never ran into any issues using their FPS.

I also tried to swap the fingerprint sensor from my old screen to my new screen now. It's a bit tricky as I wasn't able to make it perfectly centered / flat the first time, so I had a lot of issues first to get it to read. I opened it up again, cleaned the back glass for the sensor cutout, and used a heat gun to melt the glue and was able to get it centered and flat this time.
Thanks for the tip!
It feels like the calibration software isn't going to be working anytime soon, and this is the way to do it for now.
Is there really no way to get the fingerprint scanner working again after a screen repair? There must be a way....
