Has anyone yet received a phone from either an Orange shop or via their website/head office?
And if so how was the "bloatware" situation, what is your rom details and was there any orange branding on the device itself?
its available to buy through a new contract, but is still comming soon as an upgrade feature :/
i hope to get mine through at the end of the week, unfortunatly, just been the victim of card fraud, so have to wait for the bank....i will keep peeps posted
I actually get mine tomorrow so can look then, I was just interested to see if others had one already
I do know (from what the executive office told me today) that they have had 2 deliveries now but both have been very very small, first batch sold out in minutes and second batch was expected to do the same, thankfully I had one saved for me as a priority customer.

I get mine tomorrow, will let you know.
Just curious, wouldn't you root it and get a cleaner rom anyway?
I DO know that the phone does not come with NFC chip
Orange had no clue, so I called Samsung and eventually got the answer that only the USA version has the chip (which we know is not true, but suffice to say,the Orange one does not)

Yes I will, but just wondered anyway.
Some people are currently investigating if the phones do in-fact have NFC included just software disabled. Early signs indicate that they may include the chip.

Yeah, I was thinking it would... partly to explain why Orange took a month longer than Vodafone to supply the phone. Also Orange have some initiative with some bank and another phone of theirs that has NFC, so thought SGS2 should have it too...
Mark.
I upgraded through Carphone warehouse a couple of weeks ago. Mainly because, at the time, Orange couldn't confirm when they would have it. I got a sim unlocked non-Orange branded SGS II! But it's not difficult to debrand and unlock the phone anyway...
I picked up one from the Orange shop in Kilburn London last Saturday. Didn't expect them to have one but asked the manager of the shop anyway who said that there was a delivery just made and he'll go check.
I was delighted when he said there was ONE delivered, yes just one? What's the point in that?
Anyhoo I'm a happy chappy ,there was a lot of Orange bloatware on it and sorry I can't remember the firmware as I flashed Lite'ning rom on it as soon as possible to get rid of all the Orange crap.
Admittedly I took out a second contract to get this phone but I did get it from the carphone warehouse on orange and my handset is unbranded and unlocked. I will never go to an orange shop to upgrade ever again, no orange branding is great!
Well Orange somehow screwed up my order (something about system thinking they had more handsets than they actually did) so my order was processed but there was no handset to send out..so I have to wait for them to restock.
Hey Lenny, picked mine up from my local Orange store in W-S-M this week
I ordered one last Sunday, just been told stock arriving Friday.
Could somebody with an orange SGS2 have a look and see what free ram there is at stadby please? Just wondered if the orange bloatware affected the amount of free ram available.
Thanks
Ian
Just got of the phone with orange, 5000 phones turned up today, once everyone is checked the will be in stock after the back orders are filled.
Looking at the 22 for them to be sent out !
Imported this bad boy to the US, but with Nokia releasing new updates, will they ever reach the US? I have a feeling that it may never be rolled out here... If so are there any other alternatives to update?
(It is unlocked/unbranded and ordered from Handtec)

Did you get to avoid paying VAT on your purchase?
I'm pretty sure the update isn't rolled out by region, more like IMEI groups.
Isn't Market Place done by region your account is registered to? Maybe updates are the same?
You could also try conencting via a VPN in a region where it's released, see if it picks up an update?
I've had two updates so far, so would of thought most people would have had atleast one?
I did get to avoid VAT I'll check again tonight as another update was released. I just haven't received any messages telling me to update. Thanks for the info!

Then that's a really good price for it!
I really want this phone, but need to be sure that Internet Sharing will be enabled first, or it's a waste of my money.
Hey, keep us posted would you? I'm getting mine this Monday from Amazon and curious to see if Zune will detect the update in Burbank, Ca.
Need WiFi tethering as I use for my Kindle Touch WiFi, but it's not a deal breaker.
Also, one or two people have posted some anomalies with the update concerning the battery indicator. ..
Hey halfnelson.. does the phone accept your AT&T GSM SIM card as it is or did you have to cut it to a lesser size to fit?
Someone on O2 in Europe wrote they had to cut theirs?
The Lumia uses a microSIM, so yes it would need cutting (unless you had one already, of course).
I trimmed down my GIffgaff one no problem.

It did accept my regular sim after I cut it. Be sure to do it correctly, or else the contacts won't match up
I researched it and decided to wuss and shell out the $20 for a T-Mobile micro sim.. Will phone activate when I get the phone Monday. Failed too many shop and craft classes to trust myself cutting.
Hey any news on your update?
I've got another ? for the OP.
The website you bought from, with the best price I've seen, does not specific the WCMDA/HSPA bandwidths to differentiate if it's the quad-band or one of the two different tri-bands. Which carrier are you using here in the US and is the 3G fully functioning for you?

This is good to know, cuz the product page doesn't list them. I spent waaaay too long last night looking for a UK site that sells quad-band HSPA. Have it narrowed down to two, thanks to your confirmation here.
I'm kinda keen on the cyan.
Although many sites say they don't have the right bands, all the lumia devices have the bands I said above.

One Update Came Through - T-Mobile USA
So I have..
OS: 7.10.7740.16
Firmware: 1600.2475.7720.11414
But I am only getting Edge Data.
Have Hard Reset and I'm hoping that this is just a new SIM getting onto the system (customer service warned me to allow 2 hrs for full services)
Otherwise could be a deal breaker.
Hoping not; a chap at the TMobile store in Burbank where I live said another customer came in with the same phone bragging away on it so hope this is just a temp thing..
Beautiful device though!!
The Lumia doesn't do AWS, EDGE is the best you'll get from T-Mobile US.
Yep; I found that out... Hopefully AT&T will buy out T-Mobile..

Hopefully AT&T won't be able to buy T-Mobile. Talk about market concentration and increased rates. The acquisition doesn't mean that tmo phones will magically start working. The changes you'd hope to see would not be immediate.
Hello,
I got my Lumia 800, and it's charging at the moment. But when I bought the phone from Amazon through FGS Trading, the box it came with has a sticker on it in German. It says:
"Neuwertig, gebrauchtes
Ihre Qualitätskontrolle 35"
Gebrauchtes means used...so does it mean I bought a new phone, but was given a used one?

But why is Gebrauchtes also printed on the label?
For me this sounds like it's not new. Looks more like a refurbished one that has gone through quality control to assure it's like new.
Maybe Nokia support would be able to tell using the phones IMEI?

That's what I'm thinking. I contacted the seller and we're going to sort this out.
At this point, it doesnt even matter right now because the phone won't turn on anyway Spent eight hours yesterday doing every trick/button combination possible.
I'll take it to the Microsoft store to see if they can do something.

Unfortunately, the U.S. doesn't have Nokia stores. I went to the Microsoft store and they weren't able to do anything.
I've contacted both Nokia and the Amazon seller. We'll have to see how this works out. I waited all of my spring break for a phone that won't turn on!
At least I'm still very satisfied with how well it's built. It's like an Alfa Romeo. Won't work, but take one look at it and all the negatives will be forgotten.
Meanwhile, I'll live with my HD2.

Here's the link to check regarding the warranty and repair services, they should have the phone or in your case a replacement back to you in around a week, as mine is coming to me on Monday. An American who knows the beauty of an Alfa, sweet.

Of course, I'm waiting for Alfa to make its return to the U.S.
I tried doing a search, and this popped up:
"Device was not designed for the US market:
We do not have the capability to repair devices that were not designed for the US market. Please check the warranty information that was included with your device and/or please contact your point of purchase. If you purchased the device in the US and you determine that your device came with a US warranty, please contact Nokia Customer Care at 1-888-665-4228 for information. Please include a copy of your proof of purchase that confirms the device was purchased in the United States and a copy of the in box US warranty documentation when you send your device in for repair."
It makes sense, since my particular unit was imported from T-mobile in Germany by the seller. Maybe I should've shelled out the extra $50 for the Amazon-certified international one.

The Lumia 800 is sold in the U.S. at Microsoft Stores, but it only comes in a bundle with speakers and headphones for $800 (about £500). Amazon sells the international unlocked version for $550. As far as I know, they're the same version, except Microsoft won't sell the phone separately.
I want a handset only as I'm on Three but I was just wondering where I can get the handset? I cannot find any info anywhere for anything other than EE which suck with their crazy prices and low data caps. Also if I manage to get one will it support Three's eventual 4G release as they will be using 1800mhz?
Thanx.
Id be interested in picking up a yellow one.. My local phones4u had a demo one out but knew nothing about it :S
I emailed Stephen Elop directly about this, and to my surprise - he responded, all be it very vague.
I aired my concerns about the limited sale on EE - and asked if there were any options coming for SIM-FREE. I understand why his answer was vague, as I could be anyone at the end of the day.
But it doesn't look good for those of us wanting one without signing an EE contract in the UK anytime soon..
I'll just not buy one then, their loss :\
I have a yellow 920 on pre-order that due to arrive tomorrow with Phone4U. However, there is a lot of confusion about if these handsets are locked or not. I really don't want to use Orange / T-Mobile / EE as I am currently happy with Vodafone.
So funny how Nokia have released their best Smart Phone yet and most people cannot buy it. Firstly it is EE exclusive and they've said it will be until at least next year, secondly all handset only phones are locked to EE as well and thirdly EE prices are stupid and offer barely any data.
I would have been quite interested but WTF are Nokia doing?
I saw the Lumia 920 in Phones4U yesterday. Lovely looking phone but Nokia messed up. Personally for me I waited long enough for this phone to come out but with all the shenanigans around it I couldn't wait any longer. I hope you guys are happy with it. I went with the Note2 in the end. A truly amazing phone!

Madness isnt it.
Quite fancied this phone to pair up with a Windows 8 setup, but they are making it impossible to obtain one.
It's the only WP8 of the bunch with a stand out feature.
Here in Germany where I live you can buy the Lumia 920 factory unlocked no problem.
This is where I ordered mine for example: https://www.handytick.de/handys/nokia/nokia-lumia-920-black.htm
They say that they ship outside of Germany on prior request only but maybe you can try to contact them and ask if they can ship the phone over to the UK.
Here is their email address so that you don't have to try navigating that German website: [email protected]
Hope that helps.

This is nuts. I fear that Nokia with the only 4G WP8 device on the UK market and with a killer camera & touchscreen are going to really muck up this launch.
For starters, if I'm paying £460 for a phone I don't want to be limited to a Red or Yellow one! I'm 6 months into a 24 month contract (on a GS3) and want to go back to WP. I want to future proof myself so 4G is a must but I want a phone I can sell easily if & when the next toy comes along. A Red Lumia locked to EE is none of those!!! I really do hope Phone4U will be selling unlocked phones and not just Red & Yellow one's. Otherwise I'll sadly end up sticking to my Galaxy S3
A bright red or yello phone just says 'mug me'

I can't deff confirm it because I haven't received mine yet but since the auction on eBay where I bought it from (which was from that store) said that it is SIM free I'm pretty that it will be.
Besides that it's pretty normal here in Germany that you can buy almost all phones SIM free.

This was just the first one I came across when I tried to find a dealer that would ship to Poland though, there might be a cheaper one around too.
Just search for Lumia 920 on German eBay.de or search for sthg like "Lumia 920 bestellen" on Google and you might find some more offers.

As far as I can tell, even if I buy a prepaid UK SIM card, using it in the US wouldn't let me deactivate the region lock. So unless that's incorrect, or there's another good option, I have no choice but to use a dealer who will activate the phone before shipping it. I don't think either Samsung UK or PCWorld would do this.
In addition, I'd be surprised if Samsung UK would sell and ship to an international address, and the Delivery section on PCWorld's site doesn't list international as an option.
Didn't realise you were in the US and this was a requirement. I don't have any personal experience from working around the region lock in this manner, so can't offer any definite help on whether it needs to be in the region or whether a SIM from the region will do the trick.
Clove's option of pre-activating (and breaking seals in the process) is one that I don't know anyone else do, this to me sounds like a very specialised niche they have targeted and I wouldn't expect most, if any, other retailers would do this (technically, once opened, it can no longer be sold as 'new').

I wish a SIM card by itself was a guarantee - I hate getting opened box goods. And I've seen *way* too many sales/tech reps be casually careless with cell phones. I hate the possibility that I'm going to be paying $1k to get a brand new(ish) scratched phone.
That being said, I found one other dealer that does the activation - KickMobiles.com. They do have the 256GB version (only in Titanium) - but the reviews are very mixed for them. Clove has a much better reputation, but they don't stock the 256GB at all.

Indeed. I don't know how accurate this article from TechAdvisor is, but it implies you do need to be in the region to remove the region lock, or alternatively apparently a Samsung Support/Repair Centre can do so for you. The latter may be an avenue worth investigating if there is one near you, maybe call them and ask and see what they say.

I've looked into this. Apparently, local support centers won't do it - they refer you to the support centers in the phone's intended region. And I've seen numerous reports from people who say that when people call the support centers of the home region, they couldn't care less and while some of them have helped, others have told them that they have to get on a plane and fly back to make the local call that disables the region lock.
I can't risk having a $1000 brick.
There are websites that claim to sell you an unlock code for $50, although I don't know how trustworthy they are nor do I know how they're able to do this unless they're run by disgruntled Samsung techs. If xda had a keygen for the unlock codes, that would be sweet, but I haven't seen any sign of that.
