Start your phone in fastboot mode, flash TWRP, disconnect and reconnect the battery.
Now hold volume down + power until you see the LG logo, keep holding volume down and let go of the power button for a moment and then hold the power button again while still holding the volume down button.
You will now see a prompt asking if you'd like to factory reset, press yes to both prompts.
You will now be inside TWRP.

Which variant you are using.

I've tried this process myself and I get the same result. Reply Yes, Yes to factory reset and it *should* then start TWRP but it doesn't. You end up with a wiped phone and have to start all over again. Tried process a few times and never works.

The only reason it wouldn't work is if you did not flash TWRP correctly, make sure flashing TWRP with fastboot was successful before disconnecting the battery and entering the factory reset prompt.

It is successful, and I pull the battery and go straight into recovery as recommended. Used latest version.

This is not something I've ever had a problem with, every time I've wiped my phone and installed a new version this has worked.
Flash the latest version of android with LGUP and try again.

On V20a-234-30. I have flashed TWRP successfully in the past. Might try LGUP to V20D and then try, but if it factory resets I waste hours while phone goes through setup to try again

Yes I know it is very annoying when that happens, you should definitely flash the latest version regardless, I'm sure you won't have the problem after flashing :good:.

Found it! After you install twrp, you just execute 2 more commands:
fastboot format userdata
fastboot format cache
Don't reboot, just turn it off.
Works like a charm!

Nougat TWRP issue

I have used LGUP to install software (Nougat) and it's working fine..
I then install TWRP as normal, no issues reported during install (I can see via cmd screen).
I then proceed to reboot to recovery using methods I have been using for months, and it goes to yes, yes selection.
It then doesn't load TWRP but carries on wiping my phone to basics again.
Have tried various methods of putting TWRP on but does anyone think is something to do with Nougat as the bootloader unlocked screen is different, larger text etc
Have now tried a KDZ for marshmallow and recovery still won't go to TWRP.
It's almost like the recovery area is now not accessible?
Any suggestions please?

Hmm strange. Have you tried rebooting using "adb reboot recovery" ?
I would suggest you flash recovery and boot straight into it not allowing the phone to boot into android. So flash recovery, remove battery, then try booting into recovery. Im pretty sure recovery can be lost if you boot into android before flashing SUPERSU (https://download.chainfire.eu/696/supersu/)
But i could be wrong
You have to do the following:
1) Flash the TWRP trouch Fastboot, don't reboot
2) Remove the battery, put it back, don't turn on the phone normally!
3) Use the button combination to enter in recovery
Ok have flashed again and it has "Stuck" this time after pulling battery before reboot so TWRP back!
Now to flash again and chill
Thanks both

"Bricked" device after TWRP flash from Fastboot [RESOLVED]

I unlocked bootloader, went to fastboot and tried to flash TWRP - https://eu.dl.twrp.me/mido/ (I have SN version of RN4). Flash went without error, but then I pressed volume-up and power-on and phone didn't go on. Notification LED for battery doesn't light when connected and I can't turn the phone on or access the fastboot. It seems bad to me. Is there anything I can do? I spent my only money for this device and fact I might kill it makes me cry.

Did you flash twrp successfully right?
If yeah, then try enter into fastboot mode [volume down + power key] use fastboot commands to boot to TWRP -
Fastboot boot <whatever the recovery name.img> hit enter, then wait sometime it'll eventually boot to trwp, from twrp flash lazyflasher zip, reboot your phone, that's the way.
If you can't go on fastboot mode, then try this - http://en.miui.com/thread-565784-1-1.html

Well, I managed to do what you said, I was in TWRP and flashed lazyflasher. I clicked reboot but phone don't go on. If I hold power on phone long enough (7 sec or so) it just shows Xiaomi logo for a split of second and then go off. Before I did that, I held button long enough and was able to boot into system. Now I can't.

How I recovered my device -
Went to fastboot mode - volume down + power key.
Then fastboot boot <recovery.img>
Wait let it boot to TWRP, once you get into twrp, just wipe everything except internal /SD card, then choose install zip, flash los14.1. Firmware, then flash any custom rom + Gapps, hit reboot!
This fixed my issue.

Yeah, it does But actually one more question. I tried to get to TWRP once again but there is no TWRP after holding Vol+ and Power on. There is still stock recovery something which looks like this. Everything else is fine but I don't feel like going through fastboot when recovery is needed.

Follow this to boot recovery mode -
Power off your device
Press volume up + power key until you see MI logo, when you see it, just leave power key but keep hold the volume up.
BTW, which rom did you flashed?

Yeah, I did just like that. Even when I enable advanced reboot in dev options and choose to reboot directly to recovery from system, I get that black screen instead of TWRP.
I flashed LOS 14 for now. Maybe I'll go with RR later.

Oh, root was missing, sure. That's why "su" didn't work. Okay, rooted now. What's next?
BTW: I'm starting to think I never flashed TWRP. I guess I was too hasty after it said it's done. Maybe I should gave it some more time. I immediately pushed Vol+ and Power button. Maybe it wasn't flashed at all or wasn't flashed properly. Should I try to flash it again?

Wait, you got su access? Then wait, u don't need a pc now!
You can flash recovery.img from flashify app [DL it from PS]
Download flashify app from PS, open it, give su access.
Then choose flash recovery.img from the list, locate twrp.img, once its done just hit the reboot now, when it prompts.

Yeah, I thought it was the reason why you asked me to flash that addonsu-arm64-signed.zip. But I installed Flashify and it said I don't have a root. So I flashed SuperSU and then flashed recovery through Flashify. Now it works! So, again, thank you! You helped me a lot today. :good:

Can't boot to bootloader after bootloader unlocked

Hi,
I unlocked my Honor 9 bootloader using the "fastboot oem unlock 'unlock key'" method.
After that it did low level reset or something of the sort and booted to Android.
After that I wanted to install TWRP using fastboot, the problem is that every time I do "adb reboot bootloader" I get a message the device cannot be trusted (see pic) and it boots to android.
I tried pressing power button, up button (this gets me to the recovery), but it always gets back to Android and not to fastboot.
What can I do???
Thank you

How do I do that, use the original recovery?
OK, I managed to get to the bootloader by turning off the phone, pressing the volume down button and connecting the USB cable.
I flashed twrp and somehow booted to the recovery I wanted to flash the supersu.zip but all the folders and file names in the sdcard were gibberish.
I rebooted and everything was ok (not gibberish) but instead of having twrp I got the original recovery back.
Since then even if I flash using fastboot the twrp recovery I keep getting the original recovery.
In the fastboot screen there's a message "Android reboot reason: bootloader NA reboot_enter_fastboot_common_func" is it normal? (see pic)
And one last question, should I use SuperSU-v2.82-201705271822.zip or Magisk-v14.0.zip to root?
UPDATE:
I managed to get twrp working.
I did fastboot oem relock, and then unlocked the bootloader again, and it booted to twrp (without re-flashing twrp).
When I tried to flash supersu all the files were gibberish (see pic), what am I missing?
If I wipe data it seems fine, but then I boot to system to copy the supersu file and once I load twrp it is gibberish again.
Also should I use SuperSU-v2.82-201705271822.zip or Magisk-v14.0.zip to root?
Appreciate any help I can get.
This mate is called encryption
Put the SuperSU zip on a SD card and you should be able to flash it without any problems if you use the latest beta release.
Magisk is another story.

In the link you will find Stock EMUI 8 Ramdisk, Recovery and System, as well as TWRP and a Kernel that fixes the possibility of losing the capacitive buttons. Download them into a folder on the root of your PC (for example C:\Temp)

I don't know what caused your boot to disappear, mine disappeared when i tried to unroot it from within SuperSU app (Big Mistake), but let's not be drastic just yet. You need Fastboot and ADB on your PC, turn off your phone, hold Volume - and connect the USB cable from the PC to the device. You should enter Fastboot mode. I hope your device is FRP unlocked as well.
Open a command line and input "fastboot devices" to make sure your device is connected
First let's try restoring Ramdisk, TWRP and Kernel:
Run "fastboot flash ramdisk STF-L09_ramdisk.img", then "fastboot flash recovery_ramdisk stf_twrp_oreo.img" and finally "fastboot flash kernel B360_fix_kernel.img"
After that just run "fastboot reboot" and see if it boots or not... This should take care of your problem, if not, let's go drastic:
Turn off the device and plug it in fastboot mode again onto your PC.
On the command line run "fastboot flash recovery_ramdisk RECOVERY_RAMDISK.img" (this will flash stock recovery), and "fastboot flash system SYSTEM.img" (this will flash your system partition, in small bathes at a time, fresh.)
After that, just "fastboot reboot" and it should boot to your system (and without a factory reset!) If it bootloops for some reason, turn off the device, boot into stock recovery and wipe cache (or do a full factory reset, but that should not be necessary i think...)
Hope all this helps!

eRecovery is to rescue the device, that won't work with Oreo (at least not for me). The stock recovery you enter it by keeping the Vol + pressed and power up the device (just as TWRP), you can enter it? And it gives error when wiping the cache?

Right now you have everything stock right? Can you try to flash one of the Treble Roms? Either AOSP or RR-O?
You just have to download them (they're a system.img file) and run the "fastboot flash system system.img" command, go to recovery and factory reset. Your device should boot.
If everything fails, the only hope i see if to go to OldDroid's thread - https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-9/how-to/stf-l09c432-how-to-install-oreo-h9-t3707729 and download the files, and follow the instructions on the OP to rollback to Nougat.

I think the link you probided is a fake bull$hiting guide :
1) it states european C432 but provided two of the three files of a russian C10 firmware.
2) almost sure. the file provided won't flash the dload way as stated in guide.

OK, so you were on oreo, and now the nougat's service repair dload firmware are not working.
I'll start by asking:
-how do you get bricked, what did you do just before ?

Same here, I just have access to eRecovery and fastboot mode
I was on the last version (oreo) and I wanted root my phone so I have unlock bootloader and install twrp but after twrp install in the wipe my internal stockage was empty and when I wanted install supersu I have some error like failed to mount: data, failed to mount: cache, ect..
but I still had access to my phone
Except that I had to go through the eRecovery every time so I tried to look at the side of my errors mount and I tried unbrick with the software Huawei Multi Tool and images of a rom stock publish on the forum except that I had even more access to my phone but I no longer have the errors mount.. With Huawei Multi Tool I have try the recovery option but nothing, now I don't know what make
Hi everyone I tried all the tools given into this thread but no success, it seems like a big lost challenge
Tell us more..
so you were on oreo or nougat before brick ?
and now the nougat's service repair dload firmware are not working ?
how do you get bricked, what did you do just before ?

Since the bootloader is unlocked you can use this: https://forum.xda-developers.com/huawei-p20/how-to/guide-how-to-rollback-emui-9-beta-to-t3841687
It works for me
Replace the TWRP image on the images folder with this one: https://forum.xda-developers.com/huawei-p20-lite/development/recovery-testing-t3783587
After flashing twrp and restarting, vol+ doesn't work, boot normal way.

Flash p20 lite twrp, of success, restart phone, when there are 3 options, press power biton to boot, press vol up 3 sec to enter erecovery etc, and do nothing for 5 secons aitomatocaly boot in System you need to press vol up 3 seconds, then, when you are in e recovery, use option emergency backup, or somthing like that, then phone will reboot to emergency System mode, press option factory reset or somthing like that, second option from top if im coretly remeber, after that you will be in twrp recovery.
So,. If want to use downy, replace downy twrp with p20 lite one, do all what downy said, but, where you need to boot in twrp, do as writed i, and continue with downy after you are in twrp. Good luck
OK, do it in same way, it works. Earlier flashed this twrp, but after few seconds phone restart to system. Working and don't know why
Did you manage to downgrade?
Yes, thanks a lot.
