The faceplate for the phone buttons on my Touch Pro is shifting like tectonic plates. The Back button side is flushed with the screen but the Home side is raised a bit like it's bent upwards a bit. Am I the only one with this problem? I walked into a Best Buy to look at the demo and it's all flushed.. even with thousands of hands raping the display unit daily..
Mine is like that to but my back button goes lower
mine is doing the exact same thing. i took mine into bell and they told me that its normal... mind you they were complete f****** idiots. no offence to amyone who works for them. i myself used to sell for them. anyway... i too looked and the display and it was also completely flush. i'm concerned about the reprocutions of long term use...
My Sprint TP has been in exactly the same shape as the original poster's since day 1. I would have refused it initially but just getting the thing was such a pain due to the crappy service I was getting that I just went with it anyway, but it bothers me every time I use it. Does anybody know whether this should be covered under the manufacturers warranty?
My sprint TP is normal .. no issues so far had it for month ..
but reading that scarying me..
hey do you think its just defect ? under my cover says DT08.12.17
guessing day its made ?
Yeah, mine's raised up too... on mine, both sides are raised up with the home side being 1 or 2 millimeters higher. It hasn't seemed to affect the functionality of it. Not sure if mine was like this out of box, but i've had it less than 30 days and just recently noticed it. It won't concern me until the buttons stop working or i have to start pressing harder to activate them.
I just noticed after reading this thread that mine is the same. The home side is higher, where the "back" button is nearly flush. I've only had mine for about two weeks, but it must have been like this out of the box.
Sprint Touch Pro
Mine seems to be even and flush and does not move without my pressing it.
Manufacture Date: 12-2008
I would definitely look into having yours replaced if the plate is shifting around or not flush.
The 3 most annoying things on the phone are the lack of buttons / shortcuts like on my HTC Mogul, battery life (which is fixable with an extended battery), and how hot the phone gets after only a short time of use. Also the volume up/down button gets stuck in the down position occasionally.
I didn't even know it existed until I was messing around with my camera in the dark last night and could see it in the picture. Since then I have come across topics talking about the problem, and I almost feel like more phones have it than don't have it. I am getting tired of exchanging these phones. I started with a skyrocket then exchanged it for another skyrocket after the screen got really scratched up after about 10 hours of owning it and barely even touching it. I then exchanged the second skyrocket for the sg2 because it was $100 cheaper and I read that the sg2 is actually a more powerful phone. I was extremely happy with my choice until I noticed the the screen on my phone appeared to not be set properly. The bottom portion of the screen was about flush with the bezel while the top was recessed into the bezel. This phone was perfect until I came across the spotting issue. This is honestly something I could live with since I will rarely be in a situation where I will see it, but it is annoying that samsung can't get their QC straight. The thought crossed my mind to just get my money back and hope that the nexus comes out.

Return it directly to Samsung if you are having that much of a problem, I have never encountered anyone directly who has had the same problem but you do have some recourse to c.y.a.
I'd take it back to the store you got it at, and if they aren't willing to do something you should be able to send it to Samsung to get it repaired/replaced.
Good luck!

Never seen any of the issue you speak of, and sold tons of these phones. Have one myself, and again, never seen these issues. No offence, but sounds like your either extremely OCD, or lying to make Samsung look bad.
I had that issue on both phone the second was even worse a thick transparent black line was accros and down the screen. It was worse when I watch Netflix or movies at night. I ended going to Device support center and they order me a new one. This current one has a small blob on the top left but is minimal
So I just leave it.

Hi all, newbie here
Just received my shiny new S3 this morning and it's beautiful - haven't had a chance to power it up yet.
Thing is, I'm a complete OCD freak when it comes to my gadgets, and I've noticed that on each of the four corners of my handset (on the bezel) there are small lines that appear to be joinery spots, but I'm not quite sure. At first I thought it was a crack but then realised that there are small lines on each corner, which leads me to believe it is joinery and not cracks. The lines are not that visible but if you focus you can spot them.
Sorry to be so OCD but can anyone else confirm this?
Thank you
Yep, mine has the same. Never noticed before.
You b*****d!!! I have noticed it now!!!
I too have OCD........

Haha I am sorry! We can all suffer with our joinery spots together haha
me too, think of it as the design
Probly moulding marks
i noticed em on mine as soon as i got the phone! and i dont have OCD ! LOL.
crappy manufacturing process if you ask me! they could could have moulded it in one piece! should have been made out of metal... the bezel at least!

Saw it right from the moment of unpacking, too... and I don't have OCD neither.
But that barely visible and after a few days with the handset, I'm actually glad it's plastic and not metal... It's softer, warmer, and it will actually absorb shocks better, effectively protecting the screen a tad more. And it's moulded in one piece...Only the mould was not in one piece itself
I noticed mine today which led me here. Thing is i saw a post on the net and the guy had one just below home button and cpw changed the phone for him.
Same lines are on the Galaxy Nexus. I never saw them but my friend dropped his phone and thought he cracked it in those 4 spots. Then he asked me to check mine and sure enough, they were there.
Mine too...............
I have also seen those 4 hair line cracks/joints around all corners on my white S3 this morning. Because I already requested for return and refund from eXpansys-usa.com. so before sending then I want to confirm it, Is it normal?. otherwise they will laugh on me.:silly:
I think the 4 corners are normal, but the other random spots aren't. I ordered mine from Expansys-usa.com too. I don't have the random spots, but do have the 4 corners and they aren't like the one in the picture. They are hard to see unless you look for them. Like it's how the phone is put together.

Cracks in Plastic around edge on my Galaxy S3
I noticed a crack near where I plug the charger into the phone. At first I thought it was a seam where the plastic came together so I didn't worry about it. Now I have noticed that the phone has developed several small cracks around the edge (near the volume rocker and at the top corner.). I have never dropped it and have always taken care of it.
Today I did a quick search and found that this is a problem others have reported so I gave Sprint a call to find out what could be done. They said to bring it into the closest sprint store which is 70 miles away. The only other option they gave was to call Samsung. So I did.
Samsung said they could repair the phone but they needed to take my credit card info and would charge me if it was due to damage and I wouldn't have my phone for over a week! Needless to say I am beyond frustrated. I am a loyal Samsung customer... Have 2 galaxy s2 phones ( for my kids) a Tab2 and just got the Note 10.1. I am even considering upgrading to the note II when it comes out. I am completely concerned about the quality of plastic that they are using in this phone and am reconsidering my loyalty.
Guess I have to take it back to sprint when I am close to their store to get anything done without having to give a credit card or be phone less for a week! What a pain in the arse! Should I un-root my phone before doing this to avoid the inevitable "warranty" - issue?
Are there others that have noticed these cracks and gotten any resolution from Samsung or their carriers?
Mine has a crack

i was just wandering never dropped the phone so how could it break but i even saw it with a magnifying glass it is surely a crack
gotta complain samsung to use such a cheap quality product
picked up my phone earlier this afternoon, (preorder 32gb) 1st im told that my wireless hdmi will arrive at a later date, when i open up my box once im home i see that the top speaker grill did not adhere properly. only half of it is sitting right (camera side) but the half with the sensors is floating ever-so slightly. i am in love with the phone but this is really bothering me. i can clearly see the red adhesive and some is even on the side of the phone. after a quick phone call to at&t i was told i can go back to the store i which i pre-ordered and recieve a new phone.
picture with the headphone port shows a normal adhered corner and the other shows the gap on the grill
Has anyone else had a problem like this?
so take it back get it replaced

Very similar to mine but not quite as bad as what your pic shows. I decided not do anything because it is purely a cosmetic issue and you have to look really hard on mine to see it plus all my parts are aligned spot on so everything is flush with no over hang. If I had yours I would take it back to the store and demand another 32 GB asap. They should have em. 64 GB will take some time to reach stores so I may decide later to exchange.
You have a one year warranty so you could wait too. Remember iPhone 5 had similar quality issues at launch.
Lol, I'm just waiting for mine to come in. I presume I will get one that has a perfect body, but a dead pixel or two, I will then return it for one with a flawless screen, but screwed up body, and then be forced to live with it.
I went to a store to buy mine and made them open the box before I took it

mine has a very slight gap, similar to yours on the right side, except mine is more uniform. I think it's the fact that it's glued on. personally I'm not worried, but yeah if it bothers you go demand another one. they promised you zero gap construction, if you don't thin theyve met that promise you go back till you get one that does bro.
Guys, anyone has dead pixels on their Ones? Got them on two of mine....any idea how many considered defective by HTCs standards?

I called AT&T and they told me to go to my nearest store and they would replace it, even if it were a minor cosmetic defect it would still worry me. Even the slightest bit of water could go in through a gap like that and damage anything or even worse activate a water strip forcing you to go through Insurance for such a new phone. They were pleasant and accommodating over the phone, I'm glad it was an easy fix.....
Now I'm just sitting here staring at the phone, it makes no sense to do anything software wise to it because I'm going to return it in the morning..... No fun for me today

Not sure about HTC but AT&T will exchange it for you..
Dead pixels is a definite return in my book.
Wow!!I was wondering it's only me or a wide spred issue. Now I know it's not just me. My phone looks perfect at the top but the bottom has imperfections. There is a very slight gap and I can feel the ups and downs when I move my finger around the edges. I think I should go to AT&T sore and see if the replace it.

I had the same issue with mine, and the store manager said he would only exchange it if it had three dead pixals. The phone had about five dead pixals but in two different clusters which made it seem like only two pixals, due to the high dpi. The store manager than called att and asked what he should do because he was only able to see two dead spots/pixals. They probably told him it was up to him and that the defective pixals should be clearly seen with the naked eye. He refused to exchange it because he felt uncomfortable not being able to see more than two dead spots/pixals. I tried a different store with much success. Probably because the store manager was so understanding of the issue.
I went to the store and replaced mine. The first one they showed me has the same issue (uneven flow of construction with the bottom speaker top) and pulled another one which still suffers with similar issue but not that evident. I took the second one and left. It looks like the bottom part of the phone is little complex and very wide spread build issue with these phones.

I've looked at many phones. I have yet to seen one without the small gap. It seems that only some have smaller gaps than others. But make sure your speaker grills are at least align correctly.

Their Display phone was perfect. It looks like they are displaying Apples and selling Oranges.
hey i was finally able to recieve a new phone, i walked into my local at&t and spoke to a rep. i was reffered to the assitant manager who looked at his own phone and refused me a replacement phone. i pressed him and gave my phone to the store manager who only agreed to give me a new unit once she saw the red adhesive showing on my top speaker grill. i went and looked at every display model they had, bottom grill on the phone shows a miniscule gap towards the center of the device. speaker grill on top also shows a gap that is more prominent towards the ir blaster. Not sure if this is normal but i will try to visit other locations even a sprint or t-mobile store and look at the build quality on their versions and take pictures to compare. im not too sure of why something like this should happen, but my 1st guess would be an unlevel surface underneath most likely from the injected plastic... i really hope it isnt, such a beautiful phone. something like this should not have a rushed manufacturing process.
About the gap, I got 3 Ones from Att and they all got tiny gaps, but seem to be glued tight, but I mostly looked at uneven speaker grills and screen, since all had some!
Ps, Double Dip is lovely case, got one with the purchase
Every single One we have sold at my store has has zero gap. I've made it a point to look at each one.

I just got my "baby" yesterday. And with trying to entertain a 1 year old with a slight head cold, plus do all the data transfers from my One X+ to this one, I never thought to actually look the thing over. But I'll be darned, after reading the first few posts just now, I took my case off and yep, there is an ever so slight defect as well. Their not gaps..but a slight "wavelike" unevenness all around. I have very sensitive tactile sensations in my fingers, so i can feel roughness on certain spots. Trying not to let it bother me, but my neuroticism is trying to kick in.

Really, they refused you an exchange? When I had my Optimus G, they exchanged it for me because it got too hot. If you get a new device and it has dead pixels, they should not be able to refuse service. Dead Pixels should not be a standard.

Mine is fine, I don't think this is WIDESPREAD issue.
Just a quick question. Anyone else have an issue with their screen cracking? My P9000 has developed a crack over the led. I didn't drop, knock or bump the phone. I've emailed support for advice. I'll keep this forum posted.
Update got a very prompt response. Two sentences
"Good day!
we are sorry to hear that, but screen will not crack by itself. it may have some physical damage on it."
No details of how to get a repair, that's it! Not the best customer service. I've replied enquiring about service centres, costs etc. and will update the post when I get more info. There are a few posts asking for similar details re. Screen replacement so the info will be useful for the community.
actually it's strange to think that a screen can brake by itself , can you post some pictures?
elephone customer care have already proved it's lower quality service . i don't know where you live but best solution imho is to give the phone to a local cinese phone repair shoop , here in my city there are a couple that repair - fix phones for low money and they also provide spareparts that arrive very quick and at low price thanks to it's black market channel, try to search one
I agree it's very unusual that the screen would break in this way, but I'm really very careful with all my devices and this has never happened before.
If Elephone say that this cannot happen then I'm not going to quibble, I'm more interested in repairing the phone. Sending it back to the seller for repair will be an interesting, long and probably prohibitively expensive process, but I'll make enquiries.
In other news Elephone are still working on a new ROM for the device, I took the opportunity to ask supplementary questions in my email  so the chatter on the forums about the 19/04 build being the last one can abate for a while.
The crack in question. Doesn't impair functionality and there's are no signs of impact
The only replacement display I found on the Web is this one https://m.aliexpress.com/item/32673463140.html Unfortunately I have no clue if this is an original display and if could place it on my phone by myself
Your phones has physical damage along the bottom side of the metal frame can clearly see where its been scraped. You sure it didn't drop or get dragged along something while face down? Hopefully there's an OEM replacement as its just the glass that seems to be damaged not the LCD
Thanks I wouldn't know how to even begin the repair but it's useful info.
I had a similar small crack appear on mine which had not been dropped I assumed it had been knocked whilst in my pocket, But then today i put my phone in my pocket to drive and collect the kids when i got to the school i had 3 additional cracks I assume its something to do with the size of the screen and it not flexing.
The new cracks now make it pretty tough to use the phone as they are affecting the touch functions, once i can unlock it i will take some photos to post.

Thank you. I'd almost convinced myself that I must have knocked the phone.
Events have taken a new turn. The left hand side of the screen now creaks and pops when you press on it. If I press sufficiently hard enough it stops creaking and popping, almost as if it is correctly seated again only to literally and audibly pop out again 5 minutes later.
I will post a video later, and will be contacting elephone with evidence that there is a design flaw with the device. I'll keep this forum updated on my progress.
thats weird thats where my spontaneous crack started images attached, the bottom one is under the glass but i think was the cause of the left side one.
Adding images as attachments as well given the URLS don't seam to be showing correctly.
Mine also has a minor crack on the screen, it's in a case and has not been dropped. There is no damage to the frame at all, I'm guessing it's from being in my pocket. The phone obviously isn't as strong as mainstream manufacturers. My crack is very faint in the top right corner and you really have to look at it in a certain light to see it.
If it gets worse, I'll buy a new phone (One Plus 3) and not look at this device again

Mine broke in my front pocket without impact. It was the aluminium frame that was bending and must have cracked under the stress. In hindsight I should have started putting the phone in my pocket the other way around. Ha ha!
