Wrong place to ask that question, and ans of your questions is just flash miui via fastboot, edl, or custom recovery.
Sent from my Redmi Note 3 using Tapatalk
how to go to edl through custom rom directly? i cant use edl command from modified adb file
Admin please move this thread to question and answers.
Search for fastboottoedl on google.Using that you can go to edl mode from fastboot mode.Use miflashtool to flash latest fastboot rom.
Wrong section, but here's how you do it:
Fastboot: http://en.miui.com/a-234.html
Recovery: download MIUI 8 zip here: Global stable: http://bigota.d.miui.com/V8.1.6.0.MHOMIDI/miui_HMNote3ProGlobal_V8.1.6.0.MHOMIDI_8b2a6cbc26_6.0.zip
Global dev: http://bigota.d.miui.com/7.3.2/miui_HMNote3ProGlobal_7.3.2_061249403d_6.0.zip
Reboot to recovery, wipe dalvik, data, cache. Do not wipe system and internal storage (or which ever place ROM zip is stored). Flash and reboot.

Hey there,
I own a Redmi Note 3 Special Edition (Kate) and I currently am on 8.1.1.0 global stabel. I'd like to switch to beta/dev (Is it the same? There doesn't seem to be a difference on the download page) without any loss of data if that's possible? What's the most reliable way to switch?
Thanks in advance
If your phone is on stock firmware then download the latest developer rom for kenzo. Make sure you download recovery ROM and not fastboot rom for your device. Fastboot Roms can be flashed only using mi flash tool. After downloading ROM copy it to d root of your phone s internal storage. Then go to updater app and choose update package i.e zip file. It will decrypt and then install update.

He's having Kate, so he should only flash Kate's ROM (not KENZO) otherwise he'll get bootloop. I am having KATE and have the latest global dev 7.2.9.
I have installed TWRP after unlocking bootloader and flashed the recovery ROM.

Hi! I'm about to get a kate, could you describe the process for installing twrp + root and the installation of the rom dev in kate? (if required)
Or the correct forum with this instructions? many thanks!
Hey guys.
I'm using a 32/3GB kenzo with an unlocked bootloader running official rr mm.
I formatted the phone, flashed CM14 firmware, flashed the official RR nougat and GAPPS, then rebooted to system.
At this point, it started bootlooping, booting to the MI splashscreen, staying there for about half the time it usually does, before rebooting and repeating the process.
At this point, I was unable to access recovery, but was able to access fastboot and edl.
Flashing a recovery using the "fastboot flash recovery" command failed, so I assume that the partitions were corrupted.
I had to revert to MIUI by flashing through edl using MI flash, which fixed all the issues.
Can someone tell me what I did wrong?
Or should I follow the newbie guide 2.0 from the forums?
Thanks in advance to anyone who replies.

Which recovery you uaed for flashing rr n. Because you went bootloop and recovery was not able to access that means may be some problems in recovery or either in rom/gapps zip. Make sure you are flashing gapps for NOUGAT only. And use latest stable miui firmware (not cm14 zip one although may be both are same)
Try this
1. Flash zcx recovery (I recommend this, never disappointed)
2. Flash latest miui stable firmware
3. Flash rom zip
4. Flash gapps n
Boot to system
5. Then flash kernel or anything.

Should I fastboot flash latest MIUI stable before flashing the ROM or is there a MIUI firmware zip file to flash?

There is flashable zip file which is extracted from miui rom only. So both way will be good as flash latest stable miui rom and then twrp > rom zip > gapps. Or twr0 > firmware zip (search in any custom rom thread you will get one) > custom rom zip > gapps.
Only benefit of flashing firmware zip is less time consuming and less file size (around 50mb) compare to full miui rom.

Sensor not working then May be something wrong with persist partition.
Did u manually downloaded recovery rom from mi site.?
Why miui 9? Latest beta is miui 10 . go to system updater app and press update to upgrade to latest miui 10 beta version.
I think latest beta is 8.10.11 something.

So u on miui 9 stable?
U stuck during upgrading miui10 coz u must factory reset. Sometime rom cant boot due to data partition and apps.
So need to clear user data to succesfully boot on upgrade. So u must factory reset to clear data partition. Else u will face problems. or bootloop while upgrade.
So if I just want to do the repair sensor stuff, what shall I do?
I did install TWRP but couldn't install any custom ROM, all stuck in bootloop!
What shall I do?

I tried latest fastboot ROM with flash all option as you guided, it shows an error that this file can not be flashed. After that I flashed this by EDL mode, the flashing completed successfully but the sensors are still not working!

Just extract the persist.img file from fastboot rom.
Put the device in fastboot mode or if it doesnt work then put in edl mode and flash.
And flash using fastboot command
fastboot devices
fasboot erase persist
fastboot flash persist persist.img
fastboot reboot
Or
easy method
u can just flash persist.img file using TWRP. if twrp ask which parttion to flash then select persist partition.
hello,
so I was just wondering is it safe to flash MIUI 10 global rom with twrp? I know that it will probably replace the twrp with stock recovery, but it is easily fixed. I had to restore old backup and right now I'm on MIUI beta rom but with beta roms being shut down starting from 1st july, I just want to convert to the latest MIUI global rom which is avilable here on thier offical site and it is called Version: V10.3.4.0.PEJMIXM (MIUI10)
so again my question:
1. is it safe to flash this rom with TWRP?
2. will i need fastboot zip file if I choose to flash with TWRP?
3. or can I just download the normal zip and flash it through local update feature? please take note that twrp is installed on my phone
so that's all.. thanks for your time:good:

No,I recommend downloading the full (recovery) rom and flashing it in twrp, and then flashing the 'Disable Force Encryption' zip and later magisk if needed.., wipe dalvik cache & reboot
This way you don't lose twrp or anything else on your phone

Of course it does..
I'm talking about the full rom also called as recovery rom (Example :-
https://en.miui.com/getrom-355.html?m=yes&mobile=2
Visit this link to see the latest miui stable & beta ROMs for Poco f1, both of them are full ROMs aka recovery ROMs of the latest miui for Poco f1
1) I assume you have already unlocked bootloader etc..
First you have to have the essential files i.e the rom zip file you want to install, disable Force Encryption zip file, Magisk zip file (All files links will be available in the main Poco f1 thread)
2) Next you boot into twrp (Power + volume up button)
Next select install, navigate to the downloaded rom zip file and swipe to flash (DONT reboot after flash, click back)
3) Now again select install & now flash the disable Force Encryption zip file (This is very important & should be done during every rom flashing)
4) Next go back & flash Magisk for root
5) Wipe dalvik cache and reboot

Did you flash stable rom ?
And did you erase the data or internal storage?
I am on beta as well and have unlocked bootloader and twrp & magisk installed with Force encryption Disabled.
I want to switch to 10.3.5.0 Stable ROM.
But I don't know whether to erase Data partition or not.

1) Use migrate app from play store to take a backup of current phone app data, the backup is stored in a flashable zip format
2) Next boot to twrp, choose wipe and select davlik, cache, system, data later follow my steps in my previous comment to flash new rom
3) Set up phone etc, Make sure Magisk is installed properly
4) Next boot into twrp & flash the migrate zip file located in migrate folder, reboot after flashing, you will get a notification about migrate backup once rebooted, open it and restore everything or select choose to restore for selective restore of data
Hi,this is my first time installing a custom rom and recovery and rooting and all.

Install Havoc 9.0 OS https://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-3/development/rom-havoc-os-t3845305
Install Magisk
but twrp site is showing
This device uses dm-verity!
This means that swiping to allow system modifications will prevent you from being able to boot if you are using the stock kernel. In order to bypass dm-verity's boot prevention, you will have to install a kernel that has dm-verity disabled in the fstab.

do I need custom kernel for 9.0?
In Magisk Post
Prerequisite
If you plan to install custom kernels, flash the zip AFTER installing Magisk
Make sure to remove any ‘boot image mods’ such as other root solutions. The easiest way is to restore the boot image from factory images, or reflash a non-prerooted custom ROM
