I'm normally not one to flame newbs but it HAS been explained ad nauseum and is easily found in ANY Desire HD rom thread within the first or second page. it doesn't even take a thorough search or drudging through a 50 plus page thread to find the answer to this question.

Please close - another thread that should not have been started wasting more bandwidth.
OP - Please take the time to search the forums first. Whilst XDA members are here to help it does get a bit frustrating when questions such as this are asked time and time again.

I really hate when a member who has alotta posts', always has something smart to say when a "newbie" asks a question. It's not necessary! While the post may be a waste of "space", the question is still relevant. Don't forget, "YOU" was once a newbie also!!! A simple answer could've ended this thread already. Many of us aren't as tech savvy as others, thats why forums like this was created. If it wasn't for "newbies" these forums wouldn't continue to exist. we had the same issue back in the G1 days when eclair was first ported. someone took the time to reverse engineer the camera driver to get it to work in eclair. either we get the source for it, or someone has to take good chunk of time to figure it out.

Just curious, is there some reason why a camera driver from another build won't work in the Desire HD ROM?
Ditto, I agree. Let's be accommodating and helpful.

Because its not a camera "App" issue. More of a driver issue.

What prevents the use of the camera driver from a working Android build? Is it not a ko module?
If it were that easy, dont you think darkstone would have just included in the first beta itself

No, people are not getting mad just because he asked a question. Its the fact that he did not do any research at all (Which is a huge rule on this site). The answer to this question has been answered in just about every Desire HD-2 thread. Also because this particular forum "HD2 Android Development" is not for Q&A. I've seen a thread about this exact question start like once a week, and it always gets moved.

Roaming a forum and actually reading the forums are completely two different things... If your not going to take the time to read the forums then why should we take the time to inform you on the progress? Everyone wants to be spoon fed these days...
I dont mean any negativity towards you but posts likes these just irritate me...
I'll throw you a bone though. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=961648
That thread should enlighten you on the current progress...
People on forums are so touchy. Either way, you only see that one rom because it is more of a modification than a rom. Once the devs make more progress on the phone (Remember it hasn't even been out two weeks) we will see more custom roms. But, we probably won't see custom kernals for a while, if ever.

You are correct and to the OP I'm sorry if I came off rude. Having a headache tends to let a lot of little things get to you. As the person above me said, that one rom that we do have already isn't technically a rom. It is just a deodexed version of the stock rom with a reboot feature added. We won't be able to get a fully custom rom without unlocking the bootloader. The link I gave you is the link describing the current progress being made on unlocking the bootloader. If you have any experience with doing stuff that is being mentioned in that thread then feel free to chime in and provide some assistence .

I have a question to you! Why did you root if you didn't know what you wanted to do afterwards? Rooting is not just so you can feel the "cool factor", and the vast majority of us know before we root why we want to do it, otherwise...................WHY do it???
Why did you bother? Your own answer should close this thread, and everything else you mentioned can be found by reading the forums!
No offense, but you shouldn't be rooting/flashing "roms" if you don't know what your doing.
It's very easy to end up with an unusable device.

Can anyone tell means about that rom pls.
I find your responses a bit harsh guys.. Are there laws / regulations on who can / should root, profile boxes that have to be ticked before one can decide to have a go at unleashing the full power of their phone?
Nobody was born with the knowledge, we all started from scratch at some stage. There are enough warnings that explain how to apply the root methods that are offered in the threads.

Ouch.......poor guy is new and gets slammed instantly for wondering what all he can do with his phone. I think we were all in the same boat not too long ago.
Yea, he may be a noob and not know the politics of posting before reading, but I bet each one of us did at one time too. What we should be doing is just politely pointing him in the right direction on how to learn more about all things root.
Such as http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=972423 being a good place to start.
Understand though, if you screw up your phone, there is no one to blame but yourself. Read how to recover from a soft brick and hard brick before jumping in. Read all posts VERY carefully and all the way through. That's how I learned, and many others before me. And first and foremost, before asking questions about anything, do a quick search of the treads to see if it has already been asked and answered before. If you don't find your question, feel free to ask and ignore those that troll the treads.
Good luck my man.

I am running Gingerblur which is very similar. I think it is a great ROM and one of the few so far for the Atrix. If you like some of the Blur stuff such as the gallery and social networking items, you have to understand that you will be losing them with the new ROM and going with the stock Android gallery. However, if you do a backup of your current ROM before flashing, you can always revert back if you don't like it.
Big thing, screen shots help for me. And the ROM developers do a great job at giving the details of their ROMs in their posts or websites.

I agree, we all have to learn, but the vast majority of us started by reading through threads which have all the info about how to flash sbf's, root, sideload, flash themes, what is and is not possible, etc. We then tried things by following the instructions.
I'm not, and was not, trying to be a ****. I am however very blunt! Everything the OP needs is already there if he/she looks. The forums are full of "repeat" threads because people are basically too lazy to read and research for themselves before asking what has already been asked numerous times.

There will be no fighting with anyone in this forum, its only to vent your anger here. I will start.
I try to help people by reading through the forum but everyday real problems are over shadowed by people asking what is the best way to root their thunderbolt....every day that shortly followed by how much they searched for this subject when if you simply search on Google Thunderbolt+root method you will find you answer, if you can't find Google, do a Bing search on it or askjoe.com
Second why are all these new guys over clocking to 1.9 and expect their phone to be stable? Don't they read the forum of the kernel they flashed? Or just rush to general or q&a and post freezing problems. People you will get very good support if you post in the kernel you use or Rom your kernel came with the developers keep their eyes on that thread.
When did thunderbolt general become Verizon support if you have a network drop, don't make a thread for each city it is down in, call Verizon don't think every issue has to do with a radio or your kernel or your Rom.
If I helped you in any way please use the thank you button

2. What is the best ROM; and
3. Just rooted what now?
Arrgh!
"It works great for me / works for me, thanks" (in reply to a new update of something) (use the "thanks" button ffs)
"How do I install this? (install directions mentioned in the OP)"
"This alpha/beta/testing software sure is buggy / why is feature x broken in this? (broken issue mentioned in the OP for said software) (followed by vague description/no description of what is broken without a logcat by user asking question)"
"What's the best ROM / Rooting Method?"
"Help! I installed a non-root user RUU on top of my rooted phone"
"When will we get x / what is the eta for x?" (x = gingerbread|ics|next phone|new rom|etc)
Asking a question already answered in the stickied common questions / noob guide in the Q/A forum.
Go look at the PRL thread in the Incredible General forum. I get reamed out and called every name in the book.... But I was the only one that produced an answer! I'm about to the point of letting these idiots twist in the wind. I'm tired of fools that can't find the answers that are basically fed to them. And if a mod has a problem with that frustration, oh well... Do the right thing and ban stupid, not me.
I like when someone throws an off topic question in a thread and others bite. Then if you are interested in the original topic you have to filter through all the garbage to see if any progress or good information was actually posted.

or asking about how to fix an issue that was asked just 2-3 pages back when it really shouldn't be asked in the topic thread at all (post it separately in q/a). This is why developers don't reply to their threads much. They just get to be a mess and they give up.

The thought "help those who help themselves" always comes to mind when I see those posts !
Ya my other favorite one is when they ask which rom is the best.
I feel like asking them, so if I tell you to jump off a bridge will you do it?
If not, they why would you take what I say as the best rom as the gospel?
Roms are such a subjective thing. Some people like some things some like others.
My first Android phone was a G1, so I was pretty used to the "stock" experience. Even when I rooted, I stuck pretty much with Cyanogen.
When I got the bolt and realized Cyanogen was not really "available", I got into BAMF and I gotta tell you, they did a pretty impressive job with sense.
Before I would have just laughed at someone if they said sense was the way to go, but I really kinda like it now. So I know that even my viewpoint has changed somewhat.
I don't understand why these people cannot just go out and make up their own mind about which rom they like by just flashing them and trying them out. If they don't like it, they just nandroid back to what you had before they flashed the new rom.
I wonder if they all look like lemmings? Hmmmm.
I get so tired of people running AOSP ROMs creating new topics and stating in just about every AOSP ROM thread that they can't get a lock on their GPS...
Drunk texted from my CM7 Bolt
[RANT]Agreed. Google is my best friend. If I don't know how to do something when I cook my Rom, Google. When I need to know something about linux, Google.
STOP ASKING WHAT THE BEST ROM! THERE ISN'T A BEST ROM!!

Yes, thank you for your concise, yet completely worthless contribution to a question being asked. Once I've managed to trudge through the million or so posts, I will form an opinion if said thread was even remotely useful.
While your extreme enthusiasm and talent in pointing out things that are obvious are appreciated, I would actually like to request information pertaining the stability and whether you have tried it. Since you have not managed answer either question with any one post, I suppose you have failed three things; to answer the two questions I've asked in the OP and at life.
To anyone else reading this, I'm merely berating a neanderthal with near catatonic grasp of the linguistic requirement of reading; please answer the OP question as best you can.
Lolwow, that actually made me laugh, seriously, totally talented phrasing there.
On the matter of the OP:
I haven't tried myself yet (I hope that doesn't rule me out as a potential "may reply guy"), but from what I have gathered so far it's flagged "experimental".
UI stuff mostly works, some other things (like making a call) sometimes work and then don't again.
Definitaly not "daily use" capable, but a very good impression of the work that is already done and to see that work is heading into the right direction.
They say they'll be "stable" around Jan./Feb., so being a coder myself I'd rather think of March / April (NOT meant badly, I just know the countless unforseen reasons a project gets delayed!).
And if you are not as lazy as some of the members here you should aleast read the Op or the first and last 10 pages of the thread you worthless dumbass.. Thanks for the honest answer. I was interested in CM9 mainly as a daily driver, since I only have one phone.
As for the Q1 timeline, I have heard from Cyanogen himself and from Samsung that their timeline is similar. I am, of course, near morbidly curious about hardware acceleration on the UI without a Samsung-based kernel.
Please excuse an old man while he brushes up on patience.

Here's my summary of the OP after I have read it:
1. Experimental.
2. Install using CWM, with addons.
3. No bug reports; dev not bothering anyway.
4. Logcat, or GTFO.
That should cover the basics.
Last ten pages summary:
1. Volume problem when headset connected.
2. Volume hack presented, although quite "dirty" as represented by the author.
3. Various other complaints/answers and going off-tangent.
I suppose there are other issues I might add, but the first two points seem to discuss this issue quite a lot. Also, the OP was updated to include said volume hack.
Of course, your answers were quite rage-induced, so I'd like to ask you to calm down and think about what you're saying. Even my twelve-year-old son does better than calling others "immature child" and using the f-word when he feels threatened. That is despite me allowing him unfettered access to Call of Duty multiplayer.

I did reply to you answer (1st one) in a proper way and not a sort of know it all read the op etc type.. this is not a good way to start
people may just never going to reply to you with this attitude.
anyway, to answer your questions:
1. i tried the second built, not the 3rd one (just downloaded)
2. it's almost usable, but still a lot of bugs here and there (volume when you connect the headphones, signal lost on some networks, default sms app crashing).
If you don't mind an "almost working but amazing" phone, then go ahead, else i would suggest you to wait another couple of builds at least.

If you don't mind an "almost working but amazing" phone, then go ahead, else i would suggest you to wait another couple of builds at least.

Thank you for your reply. I suppose that rules it out for me, as I need my smartphone to make up for my age-induced frailties.

I'd gather as much from the G+ pages and the official news from Samsung.
Take wisdom from those who travelled down the painful path; anger does not help in any way.

Be careful about that! I found that when I try and point out how pointless (and angry) the majority of posts here are, my threads get closed with a sarcastic comment!
Good question though!

How stable is the build for sgs2? Anyone tried it yet?

Yeah, it's brilliant. It's original, thoughtful, deep and never been asked or answered before.
To the OP, get off your high horse. You've been given the most useful answer in the 2nd post. If you're not willing to even read through a thread yourself, you deserve all the flaming you get.

From what I know about forums, it's usually power-tripping moderators and admins who can't get it elsewhere. But I'm sure XDA's staff are fair and just.

Well, something I've learned here: Didn't you read this entire thread?
I've read the CyanogenMod 9 thread, have proven that I've read it, and I believe it is impossible for any sane person to have read the entire thread. I'm here seeking opinions, of which yours is entirely unwelcome especially considering you didn't provide any. Why don't you try to get on a horse before talking to me, so that I don't have to stoop so low?

Sure.
If you don't want my opinion, how about one of the (currently) 1,125 posts in the relevant thread, of people who didn't feel the need to create a new one?
What if the several hundred people in there each decided to post an awesome thread like your own? What if they too didn't like or want the opinions of the others in that thread, rather specific people who have tested it (wait, what, isn't that what you're likely to find in there?).
I have indeed read this thread, and I stand by my answer. You were given the most useful answer in the 2nd post, which was to look at the relevant thread. In case you're struggling to find it, lemme help you out
[ROM][IML74K][4.0.3] CyanogenMod 9 experimental Build [UNSTABLE][12-29-2011].
Oh, and the clue is in the title and first post:
UNSTABLE
THIS ROM IS FAR AWAY FROM BEING A DAILY DRIVER.

I was interested in CM9 mainly as a daily driver, since I only have one phone.

Sure, I'll read it once you have gone through all 1,000+ posts there. I'm sure we'll all gain some insight, once you've gotten past your passive-aggressive inclinations and complete ineptitude when it comes to answering questions directly and keeping silent when having little to nothing to contribute to a discussion. I'm sure you're a well-adjusted person if I should ever meet you face to face and you enjoy great success in life.
By the bye, I would also like to congratulate your abilities in stating the obvious when providing the link to the topic. I'm sure I couldn't have found it without your assistance. Great effort.

Yet overlooked it when deciding to make a new thread, when you're looking for a daily driver? Keep going, I'm enjoying this.

Obligatory TWSS here. Thanks for the laughter.
On a more serious note, I have suddenly realized that the current generation of internet users couldn't discern point blank sarcasm or is a masochist.
I would make a Nandroid backup and give it a go, I;m flitting between this and 2 other backups, and i found it to be quite stable, a few niggly bits here and there but overall it was usable.
