I haven't upgraded from the stock rom yet, but I'm considering it because it seems like I have a firmware problem. I got this phone new off of ebay a few months ago. At least every other day, the phone keeps saying "SD card unexpectedly removed, please insert a new one". It happens when I haven't changed card. I don't even have to touch the phone and I'll see the screen come on and say "sd card unexpectedly removed..." I have googled and I saw others experiencing the same problem. This is one thing that is keeping me from upgrading to a different ROM. I'm worried that if I change roms, maybe the internal problem with manifest during the procedure and brick my phone. Is this a concern that I should have? Or should I proceed with changing ROM's?
My other question is if someone else with this same phone has experienced this problem before, and did the problem go away when the ROM was changed?
Yeah, I just picked up one of these off ebay, and... the pins on the SD card slot are pretty bad, I dunno if that helps exactly but maybe something to check for...
Well I had the same problem.
. I rooted my phone didn't happened again .. but 90% of the time when I rebooted it didn't read any of my apps. Every time .. I got. Rom. Manger .. got clock work recovery and did a backup of my rom .. than I flashed mik cm7 .. never had those problems again ... and didn't. Have the problem were my phone restarted on it's on ...
From My LG Optimus P509 CM7
oh yeah, my phone restarts on it's own too. I forgot to mention, I assumed it could have been a bad connection leading the phone to not read the SD card, then read it, then not read it. It has a cheap looking lock-down mechanism that doesn't look like it would let the phone read the SD card all the time. So I cut a little piece of paper the size of the SD card and stuck it between the lock-down latch door and the card, it didn't fix a thing. So I ruled out a bad connection.
So blackrose, you had the same probs I have now and yours is fixed? I'll look up the mik cm7 rom and install that, are there different versions of the mik cm7 rom? If so, which did you choose?
Check the firmware version on your phone. Older firmwares had that issue, but I believe they were resolved in V10L and newer revisions.
You can go to LG's website and get the download link for the newest f/w version for your phone by putting your IMEI at the end of the address:
csmg.lgmobile.com:9002/csmg/b2c/client/auth_model_check2.jsp?esn=INSERT IMEI HERE
You have to use KDZ updater to flash it.
!! disable LG modem in computer device manager !!
make sure you have msxml installed
set type to 3GQCT
set PhoneMode to DIAG
Select the downloaded firmware file
sit back and WAIT..
Ours the stock rom side I have the same phone from tmobile optimus t and have had the same problem with three of these phones (sold to friends over seas thats why so many) I suggest install custom recovery and rom as soon as possible it makes a huge difference in performance and fixes that pRoblem let me if know if you need help you can even pm me

I run linux on my laptop, I used to have my laptop dual booted when I had my hd2 so I could change out my roms but then I sold my hd2, had no use for windows so I deleted the partition. is there a linux version of the updater i need? or can i install the kdz updater through wine? does kdz updater run solid enough in wine so I don't have to worry about bricking it? I'm going to sell this phone for whatever I can get for it on ebay and I want it functional. I'm picking up another hd2 tomorrow for a great price.

i just tried going to the lg webpage you mentioned and I got a weird error. My IMEI is 012408001118364, and it says IMEI SV is 03. this is the exact link that I typed in my browser, I copied it and posted it here when it didn't work.

my phone has gotten worse in the last couple weeks. has anyone tried to see if it's just a faulty SD card? the problem has to do with the sd card, the phone says it's removed when it wasn't. I have an old 2 gig one somewhere that I'll put in it and see what happens. also my version is V10L
what do I need to put a different rom on my optimus t? and would it be running off of the SD card like I had to do with the HD2 or can it just run off of the internal memory?
my phone works perfectly now. I checked for updates and I have the latest update already installed on it, it's what came on it, V10L. So I deleted some apps off of the phone to clear up space. I grabbed a different 2gig SD card, formatted it with the phone, transferred all of my old stuff from it off of the other card that was in it and put it in the phone. Now I have had it running flawlessly for over a week. I don't know if it was the samsung SD card that was in it that was faulty, or if it was doing that because there were too many apps on it. I know some SD cards are junk, I don't know about samsung, the one I put in it is older but it is a kingston. I didn't have to root it or anything. But I still want to so I can delete some of this crap thats on it from when I got it.
So since this phone is linux based, how do I get to the terminal so I can su root or sudo. And what is the root password? I want to control this thing!
So maybe the problem was that I had too little space left on it, or maybe the problem was that the SD card is junk.
So i rooted my wife's tablet when 1.4.0 was on it. everything was working great....until 1.4.1 was pushed. The android market app, android email app and android clock app no longer open. Ive been searching for a solution and i think i may have found one without having to revert back to 1.4.0 and start all over again. If i understand this correctly, all i need to do is this:
Sideload the ADB root hijack.apk file
Follow the Indirect's ADB Root Hijack APP, Allows Root PATCH and Reentry of Root Script video
And i think thats it. Am i missing a step? Also, for what its worth, When i try running the new NThidden app and try to run the unknown sources script, i get a force close everytime. Does this mean that something isnt right with my root? Sorry if im not making some sense...pretty new to this rooting stuff. Thanks in advance.
Honestly, as someone who half knows what I am talking about, I think your best bet is to back everything up, factory reset, and then use the latest and greatest auto root program. This will have the addecd benifit of you never have to worry about it auto updating again!
Everything I have read says 1.4.1 was put in place by people who hate you and want you to be poor. =p

It's not that they want you to be poor; they just want the money that you have to be theirs. They wouldn't begrudge you new money -- as long as you spend it on their services.
This is just me but I would factory reset and follow indirects method with alberts youtube vids..I know people have 1.4.1 going but Im sticking with 1.4.0 until I really need to update. Then watch alberts vids on how to block Over The Air updates and then you wont have to worry bout her tablet getting a forced update.
I'm having the same problem as GMcD.
AFAIK, I used the latest root script that should have blocked the OTA updates. Before I restore to factory and try rooting again, can anyone suggest how I can make sure that the OTAs are disabled again?
Is there any way to verify that the OTA updates have been disabled?
Thanks in advance!
PS much thanks to Indirect and Albert! Great work guys!
go to your settings then device info--> about your NOOK--> Software version should be 9.9.9 if not then it's not blocking OTA's
Frustrated...
Okay, I must be missing something and have hit the point of total frustration I have, I think, a fair amount of experience with rooting (DroidX, GalaxyS, GX2, Axtrix2 and NookColor with NF and HL+ running before they were allowed) so can only guess it's something silly or simple I am overlooking...
I bought my (3) kids NTs for Christmas since I own a fully rooted NC and saw the potential of the device for the price AFTER it was rooted. After they opened and registered them, I jumped online, D/L'd Indirect's scripts (YOU ROCK DUDE!) and had them rooted and on their way in an hour. 5 days later, the stupid 1.4.1 update hits (I was one of those who thought the root alone blocked the OTA) and jacked up all 3 devices.
I have tried EVERY post, hint and tip I can find here to get 1.4.0 back on these devices without success. Things I done:
- Factory reset MULTIPLE times (turning on wifi ONLY long enough to get past the registration screen)
- Downloaded the acclaim_update.zip file multiple times from multiple sites (latest one yesterday afternoon from Indirect's post). I have left it zipped, not changed the name and put it on the root partition of the card.
- Tried 3 different SD cards (all 2GB and have been used for rooting all my other devices without any issues), formatted from the PC and formatted from the NT
No matter what I seem to do, I can't get back to base 1.4.0. FR reverts back to stock 1.4.1 after reset and when I try to boot to the SD cards, the screen flashes a second like it's going to then just errors out saying try again or contact support. I "think" I have followed every post or trick to the letter, but can't get anywhere...
Anyone else seeing this problem or do I just have three jacked up tablets? Am I missing something?
I had just gotten mine rooted (using Indirect method), when I got hit with the update. Luckily I had a titanium backup. Here's what I did:
Restored 1.40 with sd card (did not even move my data, just copied the card to computer just in case it got wiped)
Rooted using updated Indirect method (smoother and easier than 1st time and set version to 9.9.9.
Then restored apps & data from backup (still on sd card)
Only trouble I had was with the drivers (I had to load a program to delete the drivers-don't recall the name but it's in Indirect's troubleshooting drivers thread)
Whole process was a pain but still only took a couple of hours.
Mike
I forgot one step in between the restoring and the rooting:
When I restored to 1.40 my n button wouldn't work so I had to erase and deregister the device (in settings under device info)
Then when I was able to connect I had to register again (no big deal)
Good luck,
Mike

I am having the same issue. I have tried to dl, re-dl everything possible to get mine to go to a 1.4.0. i just received mine as a gift and tbh i dislike how you have to purchase every little thing on it. SOOOOOOO what can I do to get it to a 1.4.0. I can follow instuctions and just need to warm up on this new technology hehe.. Oh another thing, as im going by albert wertz video, i cant help but to notice that his NT starts at 9.9.9? If I can get mine to go to a 9.9.9 and then restarting from there, I can do that as well. PLZ HELP
my question is, TiBu needs root. Now mine becomes 1.4.1 and TiBu is not working. How can I back up my stuff before reverting it back to 1.4.0?
Unfortunately, you can't. I bit the bullet today and did the 1.4.0 restore, re-root and OTA block. I've had to re-download all my apps and lost any saved game data but it is worth it to me.
I had restored my son's NT and realized how much nicer it is to have a rooted device that didn't require adb commands for installing apps. The entire process took me about 45 minutes with about a third of the time waiting for large app downloads (Madden 12).
Hi,a few minutes ago i connected my phone to my wi-fi connection, the first thing i've saw is that 2 files were being downloaded. (the name was in chinese)
I opened one and it directed me to some site,i couldn't fiind them in Downloads folder.
I installed Bitdefender Mobile Security and everything was fine
I'm starting to believe that these two are going to do something with my bill or phone maybe both. Some help would be appreciated.

Try to locate them on your sd card and make sure show hidden files is checked at the options. If you found the files delete them. If you haven't found them, do a factory reset. Hope it helps.
Did I helped you? Click the THANKS button! My Galaxy Mini would like it, just like I do!
I remember having this issue since ICS and on multiple devices running different ROMs.
What gives? I know the solution is to clear out the Download history and it still works. Just annoying that I have to do that... Does Google know about this issue??
You can also try using a browser like Opera, that helps me. But yeah it really is annoying it also happens to me both on GB and ICS

To be able to download certain files, you must first have an application that can run the file. If you don't have the ablity to run the file it will refuse to download, giving the download unsuccessful message.
What you say may be true. But the files I download are definitely openable. Yet they still don't download successfully until after multiple attempts or clearing the cache.

Hello everyone -- First post
I don't know if this will help, but i tell you what i experienced yesterday. I have both a HP Touchpad 32GB Wifi only and a Samsung Fascinate. I have the problem with both of them for months now. I can install anything i want from Google Play, but can not down load any other files, both from emails and websites. I can write to it with Window XP Pro machine.
Two days ago i was messing around with my Touchpad dual boot WebOS/CM7 and wreck it. Wouldn't reboot, couldn't run WebOS doctor on it or any thing. I thought it was bricked. Then i ran across a forum how to delete the volume manually and recreate them. Then install back to factory original.
Last night i got it back to 3.0.5 and installed CM9 tenderloin nightly 20121028 dual boot. First think i did was go to a website to down load a PDF file to see if this fix my download problem. File downloaded, i tried opening it, said no file associate. Jump into Google Market , installed reader, open the file, no problem. I started checking with ROM Manager for any nightly updates. There was one and i started downloading it, and moved on to installing Titanium Backup plus Root. Few minutes after dubbing around, checking CM9.I noticed that it had a download error. SO i jumped on to another website to download another file. Immediately <Untitled> Download Unsuccessful. Here we go again. Switch over to Google Market, Titanium Backup plus Root finished installing.
I remove it and root. Check to see if it fixed the problem. NOPE! still no downloading. This morning at work during break, I wiped CM9 out with ACMEUnistaller, and started over. Same install as before. No problem downloading any files so far, but i have not reinstalled Titanium Backup plus Root. I will install it tonight just to be sure and redo my Samsung Fascinate to see if i can reproduces the same results there with CM10.
Can someone else that is having the same problem confirm with their system and see if they get same result?
Not so
Sorry guys, I just reinstalled Titanium Backup plus and can not repeat it. I'll keep checking with everything that I install and any settings I change
You may have better luck with the Touchpad forum.

Its not just my touchpad that is having the same issue. My Samsung fascinate have the issue and it has CM10 nightly. I've search many forum site for this problem. There are many other that are having the issue with all different devices and ROM's. I
I'm currently trying to repeat on touchpad because if i mess this unit up it won't be a big deal for me. I have got it down 25 minutes or ever less removing the CM and reload it. Not so fast for me on the Samsung. So far unsuccessful repeating it. Going to try repairing Fascinate and on it.
You think this should be moved to another thread? If so please let me know.
Thanks in advance
FYI, if you change the name of the original Download folder to, say Download_old, then try the download again, it will create a new folder and download to that one. weirdly, the folder permissions are exactly the same for both folders after (rwxrwxr-x)
So, apologies where due if I could have simply searched for this answer, but I can't seem to find it. If that makes me a big fat idiot for just not searching right, then I'll take my punishment and sit in the corner wearing the stupid hat.
Meanwhile, I'm getting somewhat desperate.
The scenario is this:
I have a Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge, running Android 6.0.1, which I rooted using ChainFire's CF-AutoRoot. I've enjoyed using the phone for about 6 months and life has been good. Yesterday, someone suggested I reboot it after I mentioned I thought the battery was starting to drain a bit faster than I liked, .... and lo and behold, having used that stupid biometrical fingerprint thing for about half a year, I just couldn't remember my password.
So yes, I'm an idiot. But it gets worse.
Having rooted my phone, I thought I could fix this! I found some guide which probably pertained more to CyanogenMod saying I might delete the *.key files in /data/system (specifically, there was gatekeeper.password.key and gatekeeper.pattern.key) So I did (well, I moved them away)! That didn't work very well, so I tried moving the files back, and that didn't help at all!
What I'm stuck with is a screen telling me I have to log on to the last Google account the phone was registered to before I'm able to use it. Not only has the phone never been used to connect to Google (yes, I'm weird and paranoid), but I don't even have the original Google Play stuff installed (I've been running microG GsmCore instead) I've thought about trying to reflash the stock firmware, but that would probably lead to me losing root, which at this point at least seems to grant me more options.
What is a way out of this predicament? I can still access my /data partition through adb, so I guess I could backup all of that prior to doing something invasive, but I just don't know what's the next step from here.
Also; I've seen videos mentioning some .apk to be downloaded from vnrom.net, but I'm skeptical of running a 3rd party .apk on my phone without someone vouching for it; it seems to me that the state of the phone, having not been logged in to a Google account ever, cannot truly be contingent on some online handshake; there's got to be something I can do locally, or so I hope.
I throw myself at your feet, XDA. Please help!
EDIT: (hah, I can edit! Wouldn't have replied to myself if I knew that!) Additionally, if this is the wrong place to ask for this kind of help, but another, better place exists; please, please, help guide me there. My phone is certainly not in actuality bricked, but for all intents and purposes, that's how it feels. Help right this ship, someone!
I forgot to mention, although I don't know if it's any help, that I've got TWRP installed. So any tricks to be done via a custom recovery might be available to me, if I just knew what they were!

You should hard reset
Hi chap
God don't you just hate password, I am always for getting mine.
I would Setup a google account on a computer to start with at most you will have a google account that you are being asked for?
Its what I would try any way
log on to google from your computer, and ask to reset your password?
use the same email address you use to setup google account and you can reset your password.
You will have a password the one you have just setup?
I think it should work, and trying it your not changing any thing on the phone only setting up a google account to get a password.
get the password log on then reset password you the have old and new password.
Like I have said I only think this may work.
hope you get it working
Go to /data/system in TWRP and delete all .key and also all files of the type locksettings.db.
If that does not help flash this zip in TWRP, all it does is delete all those files automatically and a few more related to fingerprint, found it on XDA but I do not remember the thread.
Hi folks! Thanks so much for replying to me.

Now, my concern is, the phone seems to think this has already happened. Are you certain that a "factory reset" is going to solve my problems? (please note, I didn't actually perform one yet, I just deleted /data/system/*.key and then rebooted, and now my phone doesn't want to be friends)
