How Gapps updates works? - Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Questions & Answers

Hi everyone!
I want to want to know how Gapps updates works.
I installed Gapps Pico for ARM64 and I want to know if I have to manually update Gapps Pico (Google PlayStore and Play services) by flashing the new version via recovery or once I have installed Gapps, it updates automatically itself.
For example, Google Apps for manufactures updates automaticallyl and you can see that Google Play Store has an Update or something.
Actually I receive apps(Instagram, WhatsApp, Norton and so on) updates perfectly but since a I have installed Gapps in February 23 (I know that is too soon to expect a Google Play Store update, but I want to know if I have to update Gapps manually or I have not worry about it) I'm asking myself about this.
Thanks for your help!

For me pico dasn't support install from webpage play and dasn't support next upadate. I must use nano version.

I'm sorry but I don't get what you said
If you are talking about installing apps from the play store website, me neither. I just can see which apps I have installed! But I really don't care too much about it.
I prefer lightness over some features and apps.
Have you received any update for the Play Store using Pico?

GAPPS: Stock vs Modded

What is the fundamental difference between stock, preinstalled Google Apps that you would find on your newly bought phone versus the google apps package that you flash over to the phone when installing a custom rom like CM?
I realize that the GAPPS are installed into a system directory as opposed to where all other apps are installed. I don't understand why all GAPPS that come on a new phone are updateable even though they are in the system directory as you can "Uninstall Updates" while with GAPPS that are flashed over with a custom rom are not. Are the GAPPS that you flash after a custom ROM updateable via the Play Store?

Downloadable gapps you can choose which versions i.e standard all Google Apps and core would be basic stuff like playstore and file size would be a lot smaller... As for updating I've never ran into any issues
I've never run into update problems with GAPPs. They are built off of Google's source, so they should be just like any pre-installed app. However, they don't come pre-installed on aftermarket ROMs because of licensing issues. Also, many devs, for example the Slim team, modify their GAPPs so they will respond to the "Dark Slim" or similar toggles. Stock GAPPs won't respond to theming. Oh, many of the aftermarket ROMs are de-odexed and as such, so are the GAPPs packages that go with them.
I believe I understand it now. Correct me if I am wrong. GAPPS include the Play Store and other apps for example Gmail and Maps etc. depending on if it is a standard or core package. All of these will update with newer versions as they are released in the Play Store. Things like the Dialer and Calendar are apps that come with the ROM and are not update able unless the ROM itself is updated.
Why is it then that people download standard packages and not just a core package with the Play Store so that they can immediately download the newest Google Apps?

I think you're a bit confused. Most gapps packages are already somewhat "core" packages and have very few elements extra. If you check Cyanogenmod gapps you'll see them sometimes remove the apps that are available via the Play Store in their changelog.
As for updating, they can update just fine. What you're confusing though probably is on a rom upgrade. When you download a stock OTA update, they contain the updated gapps at least for the core functionality that would "break" the phone if they weren't updated. The others update via Play Store.
On a custom rom update from let's say Android 4.3 to Android 4.4, rom maintainers do not package the gapps with the rom itself for various reasons, one of them being not wanting to get picked on by Google like Cyanogenmod was in the past. They used to have them packaged, but Google didn't want that and the community came to an agreement to provide them separately.
Hope this helps

GApps

Hello guys,
First, I want to say I'm new here so dont judge me I have a problem. I installed CyanogenMod, the newest version, I guess (nightly, date 2014-11-14 12:59:24, its kitkat 4.4.4.). It works just fine. Then, as I know, I need to install GApps. But I tried like 100 gapps zip files. Every file i installed, dont have Google play store and other google services. What should I do? Maybe someone can give me correct gapps download link, which i should use?
Update!: It actually shows some of google apps like play books, play games, youtube, play movies. but, for example i try to start any google app, it says "google play services, which some of your applications rely on, is not supported by your device. Please contact the manufacturer for assistance."
Update!: found proper gapps for 4.4.4 kitkat, but phone says it doesnt have enough memory to install them. actually it has dafuq?
Thank you very much!

How to downgrade Google Play Store and prevent from auto update itself on Android 5.1

Is there any working method to keep certain version of Google Play Store and prevent it from auto updating itself in CM12.1 (Android 5.1)?
I've read a tutorial on XDA (LINK) about creating specific folders but my GPS is still updating itself to 6.2.10.A-all version.
In this version I have error code 963 while updating my applications.
In "factory version" of Google Play Store (5.0.36) I don't have this problem, and applications updates correctly (so, now I have to remove GPS update and restore to factory version, update my apps - I have to do these steps every time I want to update my apps because GPS is auto updating itself to the newest version after launching it)
unistal the current google play store and install play store apk version you wish to work with it
thats it

Donation Package Features Greyed Out

I have installed both Greenify and Donation from Play Store on Lineage15.1 . It was working before. I did a clean install of the ROM and now it wont work.
In about, Donation Pack is recognized. In settings without installing Donation Pack, it prompts to purchase and now it is greyed out which means it does recognize the donation but wont work.
Using latest Magisk and Gapps. And it has nothing to do with startup at boot becuase it did not prompt me to do so as it does on OxygenOS.
I do not have the smiley face modding app installed. It also did not work when i installed Xposed. But, before all this it did work. Other apps with donations are working fine.
I dont know why this keeps on happening to all the people who actaully paid for it and not to the pirated copy users.

If you restored Greenify through TiBU or a similar app, this issue is likely. Sometimes even when it is installed from PlayStore, this happens.
Wipe the data and cache of the Donation app and then uninstall it. Then reinstall the Donation app from PlayStore and check.

Done that wont work. Did not use Titanium. This is clean install LOS with NanoOpenGapps and Magisk. I had cleared Dalvik, System, Cache, Data, Internal.
This is i guess a weird case of license verification fail. But then again it does recognize the donation just the features are greyed out. I have tried restarting and clearing cache of Store as well as Greenify packages.
@oasisfeng Need a little bit of help here.
Same problem here, just cleaned flashed rom.
1 Uninstall greenify
2 clear google services and google store
3 turn off the google store
4 phone restart
5 enable and update the google store
6 install greenify

Does not work.
I had the same issue. Installing an older version of the Google Play Store fixed it for me. There seems to be an issue with licensing in the current one. Version 10.6.30-all [0] [PR] 201585272 and older did the trick for me.

How do you do that? Becuase i flashed the lastest GApps so uninstalling updates would only take me back to 10.7.x
If you try to sideload, it wont let you and again for downloading Greenify you need Internet connection which also means Play Store will update itself.
Edit: I actually tried a Nandroid Backup one month old where the Pro features were already activated but now no incall sound for me ( This was not a bug in the build-worked when i created backup ). When the Play Store upgraded, the features were still available because Greenify stores a local key saying that this device is good to go.
ditto... same problem!! Hopefully Google address the bug soon and update Play Store. Rather than hunt around to install an old version I'm just gonna wait it out
Google has addressed the broken LVL issue. The latest OpenGapps releases are now bundled with version 10.6
Will be flashing it now an hope it solves the issue.
Edit : Works like a charm on version 10.6.
Thanks for the info on broken Play Store @Mo72

Netflix app doesn't work on latest version

Hey all, not sure where to put this sounds like an app developer question maybe....?
Anyone notice that you can't use the latest version of Netflix on yalp app store or apkmirror? Latest is 7.2.1 in yalp but the only one that seems to work for me is 6.26.1, the latest one from apkmirror.
I am trying to go google free, no google apps or services at all, just lineage os. Everything was going great, installed my main apps from apkmirror. Then thought I would try f-droid and found yalp and aurora app stores.
Yalp found that there was an update for Netflix, tried to update manually but a weird error popped up saying I couldn't install the app, it said it needed root or privileged mode to install and couldn't install because it was split or something.
So I tried to install manually by downloading the .apk to downloads but got about 5 files? I installed the biggest one and it seemed to have updated to the latest version but now it constantly crashes when I try to open it, it doesn't work anymore.
Could google have changed the way apks install so that we have to use their store to install these new formatted apks?
BTW, I was fully able to use the latest 7.x.x app version before when I had gapps installed on my rooted los 14.1, I could even install updates straight from the play store instead of apkmirror recently, so I don't think that root restriction applies to the Netflix app anymore, they found a better one.....
Is this a known issue on yalp or the dev community?
Edit: never mind, I duckduckgoed it and found an app to install those split apks for me, worked like a charm. I did notice that yalp downloaded less files this time for the Netflix app to install, 3 files instead of 5-6. I used SAI ver 1.17, this should be built in to yalp and aurora store.
Edit2: turns out that error in yalp meant that because the apk has a few files, it needs root permission to install. I uninstalled Netflix and tried to install again in yalp with root and it works! No need for another app it turns out.
