Does x829 version comes with a screen protector?
Yes, at least on the device I got.
Yes, comes with a quality, thin glass screen protector pre-installed from the factory. Oleophobic coating is present.
It does come with a screen protector, but it's definitely plastic and not glass.

Did you scratch it easily with a metal object? Mine feels like a piece of glass with oleophobic coating on it.
EDIT: Mine is glass. Does not scratch with a kitchen knife (plastic would). If you're saying it's "definitely plastic", please post proof.

I accidentally installed an actual glass protector overtop because I didn't realize it had a screen protector from the factory. So I took both off and the factory installed one bent and folded like plastic. It was a nice plastic protector though.
It should be a glass protector
My x829 came with a cheap plastic one. Ripped it off immediately as don't like feel of plastic protectors. Though I never buy screen protectors as prefer my phones naked :silly:
My x829 also has a plastic one from the factory (with the thin film you discard over it and the rest of the phone.)

How susceptible is the screen to scratches. Is the thin plastic film covering the display intended as a screen protector or can it safely be removed.

It holds like hell. This film it is not like many, which is not usable after few days. From my site is amazing. Score for LG
I wonder if the screen without the protective film is easy to scratches.

Did you remove the film?
No, I didn't. It perfectly fits and I have not reason for do that. I tried scratch direct display on edge and it seems, that this plastic is hard, but it is possible to scratch it relatively simple. BUT I haven't too much experience with touch displays, and of course - this is not too much expensive phone which should be scratch resistive.
maybe if you have found a perfect replacement for the default screen protector film, try using a scotch tape on the edge, then simply peel it off together with the film protector.
or will it not work? *lol*
I removed original screen protector, and after 1 month of use, even tho i payd attention to the phone i got 2 little scratches in the middle of the screen
Obviously is not a gorilla glass, but simple plastic

i took the protector off and after 2 days is full of scratches, keep it on.
is such a crappy touchscreen, not only quality wise but technology too (multi-touch bug)
My OnePlus X seems to have micro scratches on the back but not on the front glass...
So do you know if there is also a gorilla protection on the back glass ? Or only on the front glass ?
I don't see why they would want to put gorilla glass on the back. So no, gorilla glass is only on the front.
I was thinking that the back glass and the front glass were the same, because they have the same dimension and the same form factor (I don't know if my english is perfect... I'm french )
But if we can have confirmation... I'm worry because I don't want scratches on the front glass...
You should protect both.
Have a look to the pics here :

Even with protections... If the phone suffered a big fall...
But with a normal use, Gorilla glass 3 seem to be resistant to scratches no ? (not from keys or some stuff in pockets)
If you have some information about that and about the fact that only the front is protected by Gorilla glass 3, feel free to answer
From what I've found on the web Gorilla Glass 3 hardness in Mohs scale is 6.8, so it's just below quartz hardness which is 7. It means that sand grains which are mostly quartz will scratch your screen, so I'd suggest you to buy tempered glass screen protector.
Most good tempered glass screen protectors hardness is 8 (Nillkin glass is 9) and the higher the better. From my experience 9H glass is really hard to scratch. I tried scratching it with carpenters knife which is razor sharp and couldn't leave any marks on it. I even rubbed on it with sand paper and actually it's easier to break it or chip it off than leave some scratches.
As far as it goes for back cover I really doubt it's anything more than just a smoked hardened glass that is going to have much lower scratch resistance than the front, which means that most of hard items that you'll put in your pocket will probably scratch it and to prevent that you need to protect it with a case or some kind of skin (if there are going to be any).
For now if you don't want to put your phone in a case but want to protect both front and back from scratches then you may buy Nillkin set which comes with 9H glass for screen and plastic good quality transparent sticker for back cover (even includes a protective sticker for your camera lens if I got it right).
You have to remember though that glass protector doesn't protect whole front, since it doesn't cover curved parts of the front panel.
Perfect answer, thank you for the advices !
I am looking for one as I have a dbrand skin on my phone (they are great ), most screen protectors are mostly for the whole front part.
Buy a normal screen protector and cut it how you want
I've been looking for one as well, for the same reason. No luck so far. Slickwraps usually include such a screen protector with their orders, but I've no idea how it would perform on our "2.5D" screen. It's also probably not worth ordering a set of skins just for the very average PET film.

The edges won't stick, you'll get a "halo" effect, dust will get in, etc.
You *could* try something from Skinomi, though. I know their wet-apply protectors stick really well on curved glass (I swore by it back in my HTC One X days). You could either try to cut it down to size, if you have such precise tools, or even just stick the whole thing over your skin, it'll probably be fine. Plus you get protection for your nice skin.
I am in the same boat. I'm getting a skin for mine and want to still be able to protect my screen.
Yesterday I received i-croo full screen protector and I think it's the best protection available today. This type of PET must be combined with proper case like Ringke Slim to avoid peeling on edges.

We are looking to cover just the screen though. Not the entire front. We have skins that cover everything on the front but the screen.
Put on a full coverage screen protector.
A wet install one would work the best.
If not a wet install, one like the Spigen Curved Crystal is excellent.
Then apply the front skin directly on top of the protector.
I did this for a while and it worked perfectly with the Spigen Curved Crystal.
The skin actually stuck well to the protector, and the corner cutouts of the protector allow the skin to stick to the screen directly and hold the protector down better.
Here is the amazon link for the Spigen protector, only $8.99 for a 2 pack right now.

I had considered that. Obviously it would stick to a glass protector, but any experience with applying a skin to a wet apply protector? I only ask because I'm not sure I'm sold on using a glass one on the curved screen. Also, thanks for the link!

The glass protectors for the S7 Edge are ALL horrible, do not use them.
The Spigen Curved Crystal is a curved PET protector, it actually fits the phones really well.
There was some problems with the initial batch of protectors but that has been fixed and now they are perfect.

I wonder if I could stick the skin over one of those. I'm thinking with a hair dryer it might be possible.

Over the Spigen protector?
That is exactly what I was saying to do, it works perfectly.
Something like this with a edge only tpu case, a glass rear protector and a glass camera lens protector.
Not sure how well it would work?

I have this exact one. It's quite thick rubber around the edges, so feels quite strong.
It looks quite cheap though, and has a bit of Chinglish on the back - instead of "Tempered glass", they've written "Tempering glass"!!

Lol thanks for the update. Might just stick to the case I bought and glass screen protector. Seems like the best option for me with enough protection.
Is anyone using their Pro 7 without any main screen protection? I'm interested how good or bad is the screen when there is no film or glass to protect it. Can you post your impressions?

Thanks.
As far as I could inform, there is only scratch resistant glass on the screen, no website mention to have some kind of Gorilla Glass.
What kind of protection are you using? Full screen glass (as they say, 3D) with coloured sides, flat glass or film?
I tried three kinds of film (even from Nillkin) but neither of them glued completely on the sides and the smears from fingers were terrible.
