signal problem - Verizon LG V10

hello I have lg v10 vs990 bad esn barre3d from Verizon I cant get any signal when I put any sim card it come one bar signal then it disappeared
is the bad esn the reason
how I can fix this problem??
please anybody can help me

Why is it barred from VZW?
Sent from my VS990 using Tapatalk

Because the esn is bad probably unpaid bill or reported stolen.
Sent from my VS990 using XDA Free mobile app

Unlikely it will work on Verizon.
Sent from my VS990 using Tapatalk

yes it unpaid but is it reason for no service or no signal??

If Verizon is still owed money for the device they can block it from accessing the network.
Sent from my VS990 using Tapatalk

but its factory unlocked and I tried to use it overseas there is any method to unlock it or fix it??

Yes. All Verizon 4G devices are unlocked. However, if VZW has decided, I guess they could make the device unusable by sending a signal to it which would make it unusable with any SIM.
Is this your device or did you get it from someone?
Sent from my VS990 using Tapatalk

actually I bought it from ebay and yes its bad esn I checked the imei

You're probably stuck. If Verizon was able to disable the SIM reader then you got taken by the eBay seller. Was it disclosed that the ESN was bad?
Sent from my VS990 using Tapatalk

yes its bad esn there no way to fix it??

if u tell ebay the phone is lost or stolen (bad esn means lost of stolen) ebay will refund u cause the don't condone lost or stolen devices

HTC One Blacklisted?

I usually trade my phone on Craigslist, but lately I've been wary of phones purchased on value plans as they can be blacklisted if the original owner defaults on payments. So with this new uncarrier thing is it the same principle? As in if I trade for an HTC One can it be blacklisted if payments are not made? Thanks for any replies!
Sent from my GT-N7105 using xda app-developers app
Yes it will be blacklisted. Your best bet is to meet at T-Mobile with someone to verify that the device is fully paid for and not stolen
That's what I was thinking, thanks for the reply!

Actually there's a new federal law that is either in effect or coming soon , they are making ,all stores and these second hand cell shops make customers that sell them a used phone to sign an addendum form and copy liscense ..this way if the phones stolen or black listed it's all on you ......The days of buying a phone to resell and blacklist It the same day are over , soon even if your phone's blacklisted it won't even be able to work on any carrier at all ,no more using simple mobile on a bad imei phone or tmo on a bad imei att device .
Government is fed up ,it's a huge loss .
Anyones best bet is to avoid any used phone ..... buy yourself a new one and keep it yours .

Ummm...AT&T & T-Mobile have been sharing blacklists since the end of last year, so any GSM carrier that is tied to them is also blocking those IMEIs.
www.checkesnfree.com has a GSM Blacklist database. input the IMEI and it will tell you if its been blacklisted

[Q] value with bad esn?

Long story short I have a white 16gb i605 with a small chip on the screen below the home button which is covered by the rubber case. It has an unpaid bill with Verizon. The stylus is missing.
It had the box and paperwork and charger and case with holster.
I use it through tmobile and I don't think it can be activated through Verizon due to the bill. I never tried.
I am going to get a bigger tablet and smaller phone. I tried this thinking it could combine two devices but really it has only replaced the phone and some of the stuffi use the tablet for so I'd rather just go back to small phone and big tablet.
I was just curious what is worth so I know what to sell it for.
Put it on ebay, its only worth what somebody will pay for it.

I would be surprised if anyone wanted that thing. Sounds quite useless as you have no spen(big feature) and an unpaid bill. You better post all that info if you sell it. Don't be a jerk off
Lastly, if it is a t mobile phone, then why post this on a section where you don't think it can be activated? Why not post in t mobile?

It is a verizon phone. *I* use it with t-mobile. I was under the impression that s-pens were cheaper than new phones.
I would not try to sell it as a clean esn phone which is why I am trying to get a realistic value as it is.
BTW Its far from useless. I can use talkatone and use it as a voip phone, put a tmobile sim in and use it as a t-mobile phone, put in an at&t sim and use it as a AT&T phone or connect to wifi and have a great little wifi toy.

I bought my i605 off of craigslist from somebody who had an unpaid bill, with plans of letting the bill go to collections. This was about 3 months ago and I have not had any issues. I am pretty sure that unpaid balances are tied to the sim card and not the phones esn.

I sold my bad ESN completely shattered screen S3 on eBay 3 months ago for $270. I was also honest about the ESN and condition of the phone.

Pretty sure this is correct. You can look up countless videos on YouTube about this very issue. They usually just pop a new Sim in and its all good to go.

These days bad ESN Verizon 4G phones are worth almost as much as clean ESN ones. You can always use an activated Verizon 4G sim in a verizon phone regardless of ESN status. If you go through Verizon for activation they will not activate it, but basically they can't stop you from using the hardware like the old days of 3G/pure CDMA hardware.
Good luck with your sale. If I were you I'd price it about $250 and it should sell like hotcakes.

I've set up 2 or 3 phones for friends by getting bad ESN examples from craigslist and using an existing VZW SIM with no problems, so I just wanted to chime in with an additional thumbs up.

Note 2 Motherboard switch.

I need help. I am losing my mind. I ordered a Verizon note 2 from eBay with a bad display so I could swap the mobo from it into a Sprint note 2 with a good display that I had laying around. The seller swears the phone was functional before the screen broke. Once I installed the mobo in the Sprint note 2 I immediately noticed it had no signal. Thinking I got scammed I bought another board off of eBay and upon installation I am in the same situation - no signal. Since then I have installed both Verizon mobo in two different Sprint note 2s and both have no signal.
Now, I realize that I could have gotten scammed on both boards, but I find it highly unlikely. An I missing something? Is it not as simple as just swapping a Verizon mobo into a Sprint housing? Do I have to swap every single piece from a Verizon phone into a Sprint housing? Doesn't Sprint and Verizon use the same frequencies, therefore their antenna arrays would be the same? I'm hoping someone can give some answers to the above. I thank anyone in advance the can help cure my insanity!

Unlike Sprint, Verizon uses a SIM card to activate on the network. I bet both your motherboards would work (assuming they have clean ESN) if you went and activated the phone at a Verizon store. I'm guessing you don't want to signa two year contract to test this, so if one of your friends has Verizon you can try to swap their SIM card into your Note2 and see if it picks up any signal.
I don't think it's possible for a Verizon Note II to work on the Sprint network though, if that is what you were trying to do. Sprint has some special chip that hard-codes the SIM information in their phones.

International sim unlock wasn't approved

So I went the international chat section of the Sprint website. I got in touch with a rep who looked into my account.
They said that the sim unlock need to be requested as I've unlocked my phone once in 12 months. My previous phone was an HTC One, which I called for unlocking in 6/2013.
Anyways, the request was put in..
I got an email back today stating that it wasn't approved.
This email is intended to confirm that your request to unlock your device has been received by our Back Office group and has been reviewed.
Unfortunately at this time we are unable to complete your device unlock request. The policy only allows one unlock within a 12 calendar month period. Since a device has already been unlocked during the past 12 months, no additional unlocks may be processed.

How would I go about unlocking the sim since I need to use it on my trip to Asia? Without calling Sprint.
bump
You can't, Sprint has to do it. It makes no sense to me to deny unlocking because you decided to get a new phone. I would e-mail [email protected] and [email protected] and tell them what's going on. If that doesn't get it solved, nothing will.
So the really sucks. If you buy a Sprint phone at full price, then want to unlock it, they won't if you already have asked them to unlock a phone within a year.... That's bs

you can probably temporarily swap the phone with the one on another liine (if you have one or a friend on sprint), ask Sprint to unlock then swap back?

Not sure if that will work. It might? I think either you have to be a Sprint Customer for a certain amount of time or you have to have the phone on your account for a certain amount of time.

Can you call Sprint to unlock a Note 3 if you're not a sprint customer (For International Use)
I called sprint today. They refused to unlock my phone for international use because I'm not a customer. They said since my phone was never on the sprint network, they couldn't do it. My phone is on Ringplus, an mvno.

Yes I had mine sim unlocked 2nd week from a xda user. They don't charge but I was happy to donate to them as well. I'll link the thread here once I find it again. Was originally posted in a OnePlus thread.

Thanks. Although I'm not sure what the benefit for me would be since I'm on T-Mobile. But this process would have been easier than what I had to go through to unlock my 6t so I could run the international firmware

I used the T-Mobile unlock app the day the phone arrived.
I think it really depends on the rep you get.
Back when I get the Note 9 on T-Mobile (2 yr bill credits), after a week I tried using the Unlock App as I was travelling internationally.
It didn't work so I had to call into T-Mobile customer service.
The rep was able to unlock my phone and my wife's phone even though it was only on the network for about a week.

Congrats. Glad to hear it. May I ask if you were postpaid or prepaid?
I'm thinning of buying it from T-Mobile and adding them to unlock it (well, having my uncle do it since I don't live in the US) but it'd be easier for me with prepaid (I figure topping it off with a hundred dollars in refills is comparable to two months of the cheapest postpaid plan and no contract to cancel). Plus the online unlocking service I saw was 85 bucks and I don't know how reliable those are.

I noticed on one of my V60s it would not unlock. The one that didn't unlock is a LG 2nd year replacement for my old G8. Can't figure out why.
so who is unlocking the LGV60s?
Anybody able to unlock their device for use with a different carrier?
I picked up a T-mobile branded one off swappa and am using on Simple Mobile. Calls and text work out of the box but I can't send or receive pictures.
I figured it might be something to do with it being locked to tmo. I tried the unlock in settings and failed. I called tmo and they say they can't unlock it without a tmo account.
Any suggestions?
Edit - solved. I had a friend with an account call them. Just say you're traveling and need it unlocked, they'll do it.
Still didn't solve my picture sending problem, taking suggestions on that.
Edit again - solved the MMS problem. It won't send with wifi calling on. I turned that off and am good. Surprised I haven't seen anybody else asking about this. I can't be the only one?
