Tips and help regarding tweaking kernel - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi! I've been trying to build Android N for my device Lenovo Vibe X3 (x3a40). So I've managed to build the ROM but I've been facing a kernel issue. Neither the kernel works nor the recovery.
I couldn't find any help online. So I thought of asking the devs here... Kindly help me with this..
My device specs are here
Kernel source
My device runs on Snapdragon 808 SOC(msm8992). Pretty much similar to LG G4 & Nexus 5X(bullhead). So I've seen that the kernel source for these devices are tweaked for every release.
I believe I need to do some kernel tweaking so I need help from you guys as much as possible.... Please let me know what are the possible changes I need to make in my kernel source.
Thanks in Advance!

porting kernel from similar device

hello to everyone and happy new year !!!
i found a device that has the same board and same specs with my device , but it uses newer kernel .
what changes should i make , in order to make it go further than the sandclock ?
not asking about fixing wifi or any other problems . i want just to see the boot animation .
any ideas ?
anyone ?
Well...if you like the kernel so much i would port its features per say...so you can check the github and see what things it has. So cpufreq's maybe stuff likes2w and commit those tweaks into a stock kernel you will have to know how to build from source and git knowledge as well.

I need devices to develop for!

Hey guys! After a long time of taking a break from the Android world and focusing more on school I am finally coming back and coming back strong! But before I can start my big plans I need a device or two to develop for. I own a Galaxy Note 3 but I really do not like developing for it since we do not have an Unlocked Bootloader yet.
I am a Samsung Fanboy so I know TouchWiz inside and out! I also have plenty of experience with the stock Android OS. I currently do NOT make source builds but if you have the source code then I will be glad to!
All of my builds will be built on my Dedicated Server and uploaded on a fast 1GBPS port! I will develop for pretty much any device as long as it either has source code or is compatible with the Kitchen.
I can theme, build ROMs, and very little Kernel work. Let me know what devices you want me to dev for and what you would like to see in a ROM. I can start working very soon!
Thanks for your time!

Any help is greatly appreciated!
I have set up a ubuntu box and got the cm sources.
I followed the instructions to build the device files from boot.img
Tweaked the BoardConfig.mk and can build recoverys from source now using the stock kernel.
Only problem with this is the 'dtb' part of the recovery.img.
I use Android Image Kitchen to copy the original recovery dtb to the ones i have build.
[Q]Can anyone tell me how to build dtb in the recovery at build time?
I have downloaded the android and kernel source from LG for D620.
Source from LG
[Q] Can anyone tell me how to merge them with the CM source?
In general i need some help to build the kernel from source, the instructions in the LG source don't work for me.

Hello,
It's the wrong place for this type of questions, u should post it in the corresponding sub-xda topic instead of.
To answer you without going into too much detail otherwise my few lines will turn into paragraphs with several kilometers long...
In a very simple way and in just a few words: the task can very quickly get complicated even for experienced developers, and i don't say that as kernel developers because i've never ventured into it, but in the meantime it's a custom and kernel ROM developer who told me that it's very complicated to adapt a kernel for a new phone from scratch, and i suppose that the task is even more so when the phone is an MTK because the kernel originally had to be designed for devices equipped with arm or mips processors..

How to build a Pie ROM

Hey all. I'd like to know how to build a Pie ROM for my phone (Nexus 6P) I'm trying to build Havoc but I dunno how to proceed. I searched everywhere and there are no guides available for Pie. I can download the Source and then the Device and Kernel and Vendor Trees that have already been made by another Developer for another ROM. However if I try to Brunch, my device doesn't appear in the Menu. I don't know what to do beyond this point. Any and all help will be appreciated. Someone told me that I have to edit the Device Tree to make Compatible with the ROM source but I have no Idea how. So if anyone could help me I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks.
