Somewhat of a newbie here but here goes nothing.
I have had experience doing these kind of things before and I have full complete knowledge on how to use ADB been doing it for 2 years. I recently bought a second hand HTC ONE MAX and it was on stock rom working perfectly including fingerprint... I decided to be stupid and unlock/s-off and flash custom ROM after getting custom recovery through ADB.
I have recently upgraded and am selling my one max now and I cannot seem to RELOCK the Bootloader again, I have followed every single guide available on XDA and google... No luck. I tried Scotty's guide too and tried the remake ZIP FLASHABLE GURU aroma installer thing as well through latest TWRP Recovery, i'm not quite sure why I'm not able to relock or remove tampered but it just does not work... I have followed everything to the bone. Perhaps I'm on a firmware that doesn't allow it? Maybe doing something wrong here???

Believe me. I've tried everything. I'm sorry for late late response. I haven't been on XDA for quite sometime now. But believe it or not I still have my HTC. I was never able to sell it due to the bootloader... I could never lock it no matter what. I needed to lock it in order too install stock ROM and have fingerprint access so that I could sell the phone. I might give it a try again sometime soon. I think it'd be fun to get that thing going again and see if I could get it back to stock and lock the bootloader up again.

Hi all, I'm hoping you can help me. I started to change the OS on my Velocity and after getting as far as unlocking the bootloader and flashing the boot.img i kinda managed to brick my phone. I got it working again after a long, involved process and it is running stock but the only boot.img that I could find that would work, ie. not get stuck in a boot loop, doesn't have the correct wifi settings for MAC address. All the aussie based roms seem to have been pulled and the boot.img in the RUU's that i have found aren't right. I have Android 4.0.3 with HTC Sense 3.6 Software number 3.44.841.3, Kernel 3.0.16-g1739124 [email protected] #1, Baseband version 3.05.4740.23_34.31.701040.22L and Build number 3.44.841.3 CL385774 release-keys. The bootloader is unlocked and the phone isn't rooted. If someone could point me to the correct boot.img I would be eternally greatful

the kernel is part of the system(firmware), if you update the firmware, the kernel will be update too
but, if there's a custom kernel for your device, you can change it, but you have to rooted your phone first
Well, my phone is already rooted. I just want to update my custom kernel without accidentally bricking my phone. OTA updates no longer work. I try and I get "Unfortunately, Settings has stopped".

So I received my new to me S4, and prior to activating it I wanted to Fist get rid of Knox and put on a custom ROM.However, after much reading I am just more confused. I hoping that someone will just give me the Dummies guide to rooting, nixn' Knox and installing a custom ROM (hyperdrive, or CM).
Like first go download these apps, next do this, then that, kinda instructions.

Read my whole post linked below. It is accurate. Do not upgrade to NG6, it is a pain and has root but no custom rom capability (yet). On NC5 however, you can flash a ROM using Safestrap (Do not use the safestrap linked in the thread below (3.72), use the safestrap in the general forum (3.75)). DO NOT FLASH TWRP OR CWM. We have a locked bootloader and flashing those is impossible as of yet.
With safestrap, you cannot flash CM, AOSP, or anything that contains a custom kernel. You can flash Hyperdrive, eclipse, and in rare cases Google Edition (The Safestrap version only!!! Not the normal Google edition!)

Thanks npjohnson! very helpful, slow day here in Cisco VOIP land so, I was messing around and got Towelroot, and Root checker. After those two, I installed SuperSU, Thanks Tomsgt! It has all worked so far and SuperSU as apparently disabled Knox…. So Im on my way here. Your post should now take me all the way home. Thanks again! :highfive:

read here and use the kernels from here and nothing else your phone does not and will never support any custom recovery outside of safestrap

Okay thanks. I did that and it works. So since I can't use CWM or TWRP, does that mean I also can't use things like cyanogenmod too? And not that this matters too much, due to the fact that its based in curiosity, but why can't I use CWM or TWRP? I'm just curious

No CM/ASOP/ or anything the only exception is kitpop 1.2 which is ASOP hacked together to run on the stock kernel which you are also stuck with
so basicly your choices for roms are these two
hyperdrive - touchwizz based
kitpop 1.2 ASOP based but has issues (no usb MTP,wifi requires a softboot apon every restart to work,spotty data/mms issues)

Just got this phone today! How sure are you that the NK1 will never support a custom recovery? I'm debating on waiting it out and staying on stock 4.4.2 after the Official Lollipop OTA hits the streets.

100% sure the only thing that would change that is somebody could figure out how to get kexec/kgraft to work which would grant us custom kernels and then allow us to run fully custom roms based on ASOP/CM via safestrap
anything newer then VRUMDK will never support anything other then safestrap

So i am trying to root my verison J320 phone, and im having a couple issues, for one i cannot find a stock rom with the correct build number, always has a PP in the middle or doesnt end with PL1, so i am uncertain what stock rom will be safe to grab, and i dont want to experiment with rooting it to much untill i have a solid stock rom, i found one that might be correct but it was a zip folder and i p much have to work with odin. any rate if anyone could provide me with a link to the correct stock rom that would be awesome, also if anyone knows a posible root option for this that would be nice, have tried king and kingo root both PC and Android version, havent even wasted my time trying framaroot because it has never worked for any phone i have ever owned, i found a CF autoroot for the SM-J320R4, but again not really wanting to gamble on that working untill i at least have a solid stock rom for backup
No heckling about me being stupid enough to buy a verison phone when i basically require root, i know it was stupid, i live in an area where verison is the only reliable carrier so my options are VERY limited here, i have been using phones with no signal in half the places i go for a year and im sick of it, so i want to make this bastard work.
i dont mind custom OS, hell i love custom OS, so that is also an option, my bootloader is locked so odin only please, any workarounds to unlock my bootloader and possibly get rid of knox will also be gladly accepted but unless someone can find me that stock rom i am not gonna test to much as i still owe like... 180$ on this phone

Got it installed, made a call, and worked with T-Mobile. Then went to bed at night and when i woke up it asked to install an update and I hit install. After that it hasn't been able to make any more calls. I did only test that one call. So not entirely sure the update is to blame.
