Adguard which is a local vpn based adblocker which works perfect in all the apps except in YouTube app(it blocks ad in YouTube from browser though).... Using it for more than 6 months and completely happy with the app... But its not available in PlayStore due to the Google's policies.

There is almost no difference in the functionality but do have a major difference in their policies. As u know Adclear gives the same stuff for free but they do use our data for further processing and Adguard dont have any such policies on user data...

[request] built in security/virus scanner

hi,
it might be cool if there will be a built in virus scanner that protects the whole system(browsing and data) so we don't have to download one from the app store every time. i use cm security now so maybe some inspiring....just a suggestion because security is very important
You don't need a virus scanner

No. That is bloat. We will not take $$ away from our fellow developers that rely on ads to support their apps...

You can used lbe security master
Sent from my SM-T210 using XDA Free mobile app
Only people who are incompetent need antivirus on android. Unless you grant any and every apk su than it won't affect your device in a harmful way....much like if you allow an apk to have special permissions don't complain that you lose your sensitive data.
Sent from my Paranoid Bionic
I didn't have antivirus on my Windows PC, and it turned out to be fine!
Don't use unknown third party markets and please read the permissions before installing anything

Most effective way to block ads on S8+? (NO ROOT)

What's the best way to block ads on my S8+ with no root?
That's the one thing I miss about my S6.... Root+Adblock! lol
Most people use Adhell for this. I used it before I rooted my S8+, seems to work pretty well. Also has a package disabler if you're into disabling apps you don't use or want hogging up resources.

I use Blokada, tried Adhell and didn't like it. Nothing is as good as Adblock.

Adhell for non-rooters
I've been using disconnect pro from the Samsung store and honestly haven't had any complaints

The problem with Blokada is it uses the VPN, so if you need to VPN anywhere, it will turn Blokada off..

What is the best YouTube app

Hello,
I don't use YouTube cause it's blocked in my country and I don't like to use VPN and undergo lot of stuff just to be able to use it. However, the summer is coming and I feel like I should start surfing in it.
So, what is the best YouTube app out there? Should I just stick with the official one or the modified youtube apps and magisk mods perform better? (Ads and battery usage and stuff)

There's a large variety of YB alternatives out there but I prefer this one because it could run without flashing Gapps. It's lightweight, works well, customizable and it has some extra features. It's also missing some basic ones but I've easily got used to it.
P.S. It goes easy on the battery and it has no ads.
cloudflare dns from magisk to unblock youtube
use youtube vances from magisk to use free premium feature like background music & ads free

Ad blocking mod

Moving over to the S10e from the S8 Plus (both non-rooted), I'm trying to find a mod which blocks ads all across the system.
I applied something in the past to my S8 which blocks almost all ads, but I can't remember what it is. I can see that I have DNS66 and Disconnect Me Pro installed, both are not running.
So what could be the thing which blocks all of my ads?
In short, looking for a solution to block most if not all ads on my Galaxy S10e.
Thanks a lot in advance.

Thanks. So easy and simple. Hope it works for the long run.
I'm afraid system wide ad blocking is no longer effective. App developers got really smart with ad integrations. I tried DNS solution and Adhell (before it shut down). Nothing works, all popular apps that get frequent updates show ads.
try the app blockada. for me best on the market (no-root)

I tried all the methods that are available. There are many apps where I can't block ads no matter what I try. For example Duolingo app, when it loads an ad not a single ad blocker detected anything! I think many apps and games are smartly programmed to deliver ads from the same server as app content and there is nothing any ad blocker can do. Just like Youtube app.

Disconnect pro is system wide adblocker for samsung devices which is powered by knox. its available in galaxy app store for $23
Disconnect Pro isn't worth the money. $23 for an app that just block traffic but doesn't allow any filters or exclusions except "trusted apps" is quiet expensive.
I tried the app once and wasn't a big fan of it. It works, but nothing more.
Adguards dns is completely for free and with a Tasker quick toggle you can easily switch it off when needed...without to start or restart any app.
I can share my Tasker settings, if someone wants it. I also created a task to disable the DNS if I'm connected to some public WiFi networks where the DNS isn't supported.
Adguard premium. done!
I used adaway with many devices, it works very good.
But sometimes I had to deactivate it, to see some content.

And there isn't a way to do it. They are sponsored posts, and not ads. Only way is to use modded apks, which personally I don't trust.

Ad Blocker that actually works wanted....

On my old phone android 5.1.1 blokada worked really well, basically not a single ad.
Now, with new android and new blokada, I have permanent ads all over the place and I am continuosly harrased by other "free" functions blokada installs without asking .
I can not even switch their vpn off!
What is the best ad blocker now?
I mean an adblocker, that will block ads, and that is it. If I want anything else, I will look for it.
I do NOT mean an ad blocker that works with the browser. I basically never use the browser on the phone. I am talking about ads from apps..
Thank You
This sounds odd, im using blokada 5 with default Block lists this App does not install additional Apps at all. Make sure to download from Official Site blokada.org also don't use the downgraded Slim Version. U add more Block Lists in Settings when default not enough.

I will try it... but I really resent renting some software for $ 24 a year.
That is what I pay for my VPN, because that causes them expenses to run it.

The VPN option does not require root. I cannot tell how well it works, no experience with it.

Why don't you use Blokada 4. I use it and it works well for me. Just sometimes after switching on the device it keeps on saying 'please wait' but after switching off the vpn and switching on again it works perfectly.

You don't pay anything to use their DNS servers. Just configure the DNS IP in your network setings - no need for any software. The IP is in the link I gave.

Todey's "quality" of Blokada is why I asked this question. But of course in one sense you are correct. In Android 5.1.1 it worked perfectly, in Androids 10, 11, 12 it no longer does.
Actually I do not know, if it is Android, it might be the MIUI.
I can see the "progress" the updates deliver in so many places... My Camera f.e. demands access to the microphone when I want to take pictures! It will not let me take photographs without access to the mic....
I have become such a fan of how digitalisation has made this world so much better and more intelligent.

Thanks, Under "Modify Network" the phone only offers to switch between "Use randomised MAC" and "Use device MAC", the latter is set as default
After a while of trying out I managed to get to the DNS servers, where I saw that DNS1 is my IP adress and DNS2 is 8.8.4.4
In adguard's instructions it mentions two values, 94.140.14.14, 94.140.15.15, but it does not say if I use one of those in both or if the first one is DNS1 aand the other one is DNS2....?
Also: My phone is set to: Data only via WIFI, never through SIM. The ads I am talking about usually appear without the WIFI switched on and cannot come in via simcard. They appear f.e. on the HF Onkyo Flac Music player, which is the identical version and installation as on my old Android 5.1.1 phone, where NO ads appear...
But I will try the DNS change, if you tell me which one to put into 1 and into 2...

Use 94.140.14.14 in DNS1 and 94.140.15.15 in DNS2. It is unusual to have your IP in a DNS setting.
The ads are probably cached on your phone. You may need to clear both DNS cache and the app cache after updating DNS. Turning WiFi off and on may clear the DNS cache, if you can find no other way to clear it.
