Hey!
So I recently bought a Redmi note 3 (SD) Kenzo, and successfully installed the latest official cm13 snapshot, though I am having problems with the rear camera, flash and FP sensor not been recognized/functioning.
(I should note I’ve never rooted, flashed, unlocked boot loader or install custom recovery or anything like this before)
My process was:
Request official permission to unlock, which I received in like 5 mins, then proceeded to successfully unlock with Mi unlock tool.
I then flashed official TWRP 3.0.2-2, but then couldn’t access internal storage due to some encryption thing TWRP was complaining about. I later worked out it was because I was running the latest China Dev MIUI ROM which is marshmallow, and then flashed “cofface_TWRP3_kenzo_p.img”, which worked fine.
I booted up into TWRP just fine, and then proceeded to wipe Dalvik cache, system, data and cache. I then flashed the firmware then latest snapshot build of which is linked here "http://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-3/development/rom-cyanogenmod-13-t3431866". And then flashed open Gapps.
I then booted up which took around 10 minutes or so just fine.
According to Aida64 I have FPC sensor, and looking through root/system/etc/firmware, with no “goodix” to be seen. I don’t know where to look to find info on my rear cam and flash though.
So should I flash “radon kernel” (I don’t entirely know what this will do), did I make a mistake in the process, or something else entirely? Also is my bootloader now locked due to flashing cm13, and can I unlock it again with the Mi unlock tool?
It would be so great if you could help!
(also if more info is needed just let me know)

Bro, you did everything in correct order.
And, to get fp working for you, flash Radon v2.9 and select fpc (or goodix if still doesn't work). Kernel is the sw part which directly interacts with your hw. So, you'll need Kernel Aduitor or any another such app to tweak the kernel settings. AIDA64 should show your cam sensors, afair.
And, if Radon doesn't help then you can flash CM13_RADIOS.zip which you'll find in the "All ROM, Recoveries, add-on zips......." thread.
And, official CM13 doesn't lock your bootloader, the unofficial CM13 from SantoshM does that.
You can unlock your bootloader any no. of times using MiUnlock, and if needed you can check it using the following command in adb and fastboot tool
Code:
fastboot oem device-info
Look for "Bootloader Unlocked - true/false"
As above, flash the latest Radon Kernel. Also do not use the old snapshots of CM13 (they are now months old), nightlies are more stable and much more updated.

Can the kernel be flashed after the firmware/rom? Will it factory reset the device? If i run into any any issues what part do i wipe and replace in twrp to revert to the previous kernel?
Are you sure you have the Kenzo version?
Maybe you have the Kate version like me

Flashing a kernel is like flashing any add-on zip like bootanimation or some new font and stuff. You don't need to flash the whole ROM or the reqd. firmware.
So, first make a backup of system and boot partition in twrp.
Then, wipe cache and dalvik and then flash the kernel zip. Reboot and done.. First boot may take some time.
And, should you need to revert back to stock, you can restore the backup you made earlier.

Yes holy sh*t thank you, both cameras and flash work now, fingerprint doesn't, so i'll try re-flashing it for "goodix" to see if that works.
(also is normal to hear a physical clicking sound next to the flashlight when turned on/off?)

Maybe you have goodix variant. If everything else fails, try goodix patch: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B3Ji2Mma4WGpaFAweDZNWmVVVms/view

Do a fastboot flash ..
You should post it in the proper section.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-4/help
I've flashed via fast boot but still im facing the problem
I had this problem for my 'redmi note 3' before. I flashed 'persist.img' through fastboot. Note: that is for redmi note THREE.

I've had this sensors problem in my redmi note 4 device, i flashed the fix & it solved all but created a new problem, i can't go back to stock rom.
The "persist.img" file in this fix belongs to someone else RN4 phone. Now I'm stuck with his mi account in my device. It needs his password to unlock. Ur only option is to use custom roms
You can find the persist.img file inside the fastboot zip from here.
It isn't flashed by default with Mi Flash but it's there.

Persist.img file comes with fastboot zip is around 5mb, but actual file size is more than 32mb, i flashed manually the smaller one and phone doesn't boot, keeps restarting in boot logo. I had to flash this sensor fix again to unbrick.

OK bro thanks and what if I flash the persist.IMG from the fastboot rom and not from some others mobile??
Persist.img file in fastboot rom is low in size, below 5mb, if you flash it, you get bootloop. Actual size around 32mb. U can see it in the fix file.
The partition on the phone is 32 MB. If the persist.img file is only 5 MB it could mean that the data inside the partition is only 5 MB, it doesn't have to be 32 MB.
Take the recovery partition for example, it's bigger than the size of the TWRP .img file, but it doesn't mean that TWRP file is corrupted.
However, to flash persist partition you need the unlocked bootloader and a modified fastboot.exe version that can restart the phone in EDL mode, and from there you can flash every partition with MiFlash.
Of course, data size of Persist.img partition maybe only 5mb, but after flashing the that comes with fastboot rom, all i got is an infinite bootloop. Even miflash doesn't flash this partition, I've seen it in miflash log file.
I tried to flash the persist image, but it simply refuse to do it, even with MiFlash (you can enable the flashing of persist.img by modifying the .bat file that MiFlash will use to flash).
As I write on my post above, to flash persist.img you need to be in EDL mode, but I didn't tried it personally, so I don't know if it will cause bootloop even this way (but I read of people resolving problems this way, so I don't think it will do harm).
I've lost the functionality of all my sensors (sensors like auto rotation, gyro, compass, acceleration, hall etc except proximity are not working) in my Redmi Note 4....
I've googled and found that :;
To bring back the sensors back alive , we should flash persist.img file of our specific device......
I've tried to install via fastboot but it is showing an error like this....
When I type :fastboot erase persist persist.img
Its showing:[remote:erase operation on partition persist is not allowed].......
But my bootloader is unlocked.......
Can't do anything with my phone......
Sensors without mobile is like a man without his ..............heart.....
Please share your help guys........
Try TWRP rom and check.
There is a way bring back all sensors alive but you need to sacrifice miui rom, but in custom rom all sensors works well. COLOROS ROM for RN4 sensor fix file can help you.
If you go back to miui, you will face "This device is associated with an existing Mi Account" problem. If you are OK with this, go ahead.

If you have problems with the sensors of your Xiaomi MI8 (camera that does not open, gyroscope, steps not calculated, compass, face unlock etc.), you probably made trouble with the persist partition, doing a wipe via twrp, or with a simple update through updater.
The problem is of a software nature and very simple to solve.
Install the latest version of TWRP, download: (Recovery-TWRP-3.3.1-2-dipper-mauronofrio.img)
Download the persist.img file, for completeness I uploaded the file together with the TWRP. The persist.img file is the most recent one, is the last update of the global stable miui 11 (V11.0.6.0.PEAMIXM, same for china), download: (persist.img V11.0.6.0.PEAMIXM)
Go to recovery twrp
Flash the image persist.img in the / persist partition.
Make a wipe cache and dalvik.
Reboot.
Now the sensors of your mi8 will come back to work.
I will try when back home, if it works, i'll send u a virtual kiss

It's a bug on miui. Don't worry your sensors is fine. They will fix it on the next update afaik

TWRP---->install----->install image---->select persist.img----->select persist partition.
If you don't see a persist partition, you must change the recovery.
Use TWRP 3.2.3 0918, you can download it on the first post.

Manage to enter twrp and flashed. Now all my sensors are back!
Just a note : your twrp.img cannot be boot. I'll just stuck at first screen with logo. What I did was to flash it into recovery.
For example this command doesn't work with your twrp version in the beginning
fastboot boot twrp.img
But this works
fastboot flash recovery twrp.img
then
fastboot boot twrp.img

Extract it and find a persist.img, next flash it.
thank you for this precious help
Hey everyone, I am experiencing issues with my mido (RN4X) apparently all related to the persist.img file. I first saw that the gyroscope is not working, for which I found an apparent fix saying I should flash a new persist.img file.
I wanted to unlock the bootloader to flash the file more easily, but I also couldn't do it due to 'error 20091, and a thread on XDA here led me to believe it's also related to the same file.
I have also seen a few people hard bricking their device by flashing persist.img and I myself have hard bricked a phone by messing around with the partitions this closely. Can anyone point me in the right direction here?
