Redmi Note 4X sensors and bootloader problems (persist.img) - Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 Questions & Answers

Hey everyone, I am experiencing issues with my mido (RN4X) apparently all related to the persist.img file. I first saw that the gyroscope is not working, for which I found an apparent fix saying I should flash a new persist.img file.
I wanted to unlock the bootloader to flash the file more easily, but I also couldn't do it due to 'error 20091, and a thread on XDA here led me to believe it's also related to the same file.
I have also seen a few people hard bricking their device by flashing persist.img and I myself have hard bricked a phone by messing around with the partitions this closely. Can anyone point me in the right direction here?

Flash stock MIUI image using MiFlash it should restore everything to stock including persist partition and next time dont fiddle with it.

I didn't 'fiddle' with anything.. this is how I got the phone
Also I can't flash the stock MIUI image without unlocking BL.

How can I do that? Everything I've read says I need an unlocked BL to flash anything, or do it through EDL mode.

New Redminote 3 Pro can't flash ROMs

Hi guys,
Just recently purchased redmi note 3 pro 32gb from gearbest.
Phone should be international version with 7.2.13.00(LHOCNCL) preinstalled.
I found that I cannot flash any standard / developer ROM when official website by using built-in flash tool.
Any way to go from here? to at least receive OTA updates and in future I will like to try out Ressurection rom.
thanks.
Your ROM is unexsisting one, cooked by the seller.
You must flash a new one clean via EDL mode and MiFlash
This CN in the name means Chinese, and the numbers says that the rom is only modified to support more languages.

Does this mean i need to wait for unlock bootloader first?
my MI account has previous device linked which I just removed now and set to my new phone.
might take weeks to get approval?
or is there a guy to by pass the locked bootloader?
thanks.

No you wont loose your IMEI. Basically you are just flashing official MIUI Rom, your IMEI details are stored in another partition (non volatile) and FlashAll will not touch them.
You are safe to follow this guide, and by the way you would not be able to unlock the bootloader (the official way) from this vendor Rom. So if you plan to do so later, here you go with this first step.

so when I tried to unlock it it keeps saying "Couldn't verify device, Current accoutn is different from the account info on the device" but i'm 100% sure i'm using same account tho.

unlocked fine with Dev ROM!
sweet
now time to find out how to flash TWRP!
Put the recovery image file in the folder from Unlocker.
Press Shift and Right click with the mouse on the empty space in the folder.
In the context menu choose Open Command Window Here
Put the phone in fastboot mode
Write in the terminal
fastboot flash recovery and write down the name of the image. For example:
fastboot flash recovery twrp.img
or
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Success.

You have to flash persist.img from official firmware.
First backup you data,
unlock bootloader,
fastboot erase persist
fastboot flash persist persist.img
fastboot reboot
Your problem will be fixed

Upgrade CM 13 to CM 14.1 failed - no recovery mode anymore

Hi guys,
first of all: I am an idiot
I was using an old nightly from CM 13-kenzo and decided to do some preparation to finally migrate to Lineage without data loss.
So I wanted to go to CM14.1 before flashing the experimental Lineage and the nightly.
What did I flash with TWRP?
1.) ROM: cm-14.1-20161225-NIGHTLY-kenzo.zip
2.) GAPPS 7.1 ARM64 micro
3.) Firmware: CM14.1-firmware_20161205.zip
I think I should have flashed the firmware first, moreover, I didn't wipe caches.
What's happening now?
Recovery mode does not work (the display just flash for half a second)
Booting does not work (ofc )
Fastboot mode still works.
How can I fix this nice problem with Cyanogenmod?
Any help is much appreciated.
Bro,I also faced this problem. Just go to guides section and follow the guide"install zcx twrp without unlocking bootlader" one. And flash by that method twrp and you will get it all back.
I have also faced problem same you are facing and solved it!!!

. Your bootloader is lock, if you still can get to fastboot, then enter edl mode and use miflash to unlock yourboot loader again
Thx. Does Miflash work on a chromebook?

Do you mean the MiFlash Unlock tool? That doesn't work.
It's saying "Your device isn't supported by Mi Unlock" Go to .../unlock to apply for Mi Unlock support.
If you mean XiaomiMiFlash tool, what exactly do I have to flash?

Yes, I mean Miflash tool. You need to folow this guide
http://en.miui.com/thread-235865-1-1.html
And remember you will lost all data in internal memory, you will get back to MIUI with that guide. Then try to unlock your bootloader officially or unofficially again.
Or if you woud like to take risk then you can try this way https://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-3/how-to/unlock-unofficially-install-zcx-twrp-t3586778 without data lost

now bring your phone in action and turn on oem unlock from developer optipn(tap miui version 7 time and find developer option in additional option)
sign out of your mi account

That would be the impossible part. So I guess I've to work with the first link. Thanks.
So if you damaged the recovery and your bootloader is locked theres no way to rescue this phone without a xiaomi shop but good luck
Okay problem solved. I used this guide https://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-3/how-to/kate-guide-install-lineage-os-locked-t3546154 and it worked like a charm.

Please help me

I have a RedmI Note 3 (kenzo) running Lineage OS 14.1
The RAM usage reports around 150MB of use only and there is no free RAM. So I think there is a problem with my phone and I decide to flash everything to start again.
I found a compatible kernel and flashed that new kernel and I got bootloop.
I read that if I flash the ROM again, the kernel will be replaced by the default one so I went to do that with TWRP.
Went to TWRP to flash my ROM and got error 7.
Read a bit more and I read that somethimes very old TWRP will show that message for new ROM.
Indeed, my TWRP was quite old.
Followed steps to flash my TWRP recovery to newer version in TWRP.
Now my TWRP recovery can't even work.
Try to flash ROM with ADB, but I forgot to enable debugging before bootloop.
Is there a way I can fix it?
I don't need the things on my phone.
I just want it to work again.
Thank you for reading and provide me with guidance to fix my phone.
Trying to flash MIUI ROM using MiFlash. Hope it works. Then I can work my way back to Lineage OS.

I will do that after some sleep.
I have another thing to worry about. The charge light is not on and my phone won't shut down. It can only bootloop or in fastboot. I put it on fastboot now. Still don't know how to shut it down or not sure if it is charging because there is no charging light.
I followed this:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-3/how-to/fix-bootloop-redmi-note-3-recovery-edl-t3521297
Flashed it, MiFlash says operation was successful but still won't boot up normally.
Now I don't have to worry about running out of battery because it boots to logo and turns off to nothing.

I followed the guide here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-3/how-to/fix-bootloop-redmi-note-3-recovery-edl-t3521297
I managed to enter EDL mode because I have a red light flashing. But after I flash it using normal USB data cable, MIUI ROM will bootloop. Anyway, I got myself an engineering cable and flash it, MIUI boot successfully and so I proceed to flash Lineage OS. Everything is fine now.

Redmi note 3 pro hard brick

I've been struggling to unbrick my phone since the past 48 hours, one that I have never deal with before.
Drained my battery and left it for awhile then I charged it overnight but the next morning i realized that it's on boot loop.
So I didn't manage to get the phone debugging mode on because i'm keeping it on stock rom so i can use the banking app and I haven't unlock the bootloader.
Now it keeps on rebooting on boot logo for 8 to 10 seconds and reboot and it keeps on looping.
I did manage to get my phone running on Fastboot Mode, use the patch to make it run on EDL mode, the MiFlasher are able to read my device and I did manage to get the stock fastboot rom flashed but when I turn it on, I still face the same issue.
I've been looking through ALL thread on miui forum, none of the solution works.
Made 2 thread on this issue on miui forum, didn't get much attention there so i'm moving here

You need to use the earlier versions of miui for unlocking by flashing the emmc_appsboot.mbn . I used miui7 based on 5.1 .Go for one of those.
If your phone doesn't boot after installing fastboot rom via EDL, it is hardware problem but try https://forum.xda-developers.com/xiaomi-mi-3/general/guide-flashing-fastboot-miui-roms-t2938279 if you get any errors then refer https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2277112
