So I recently got a Nexus 9. I think it was affected by the battery issues with android nougat. I rooted and used greenify and got much better battery life but decided I wanted to unroot and see if over a couple days the battery life would have gotten better. So I connected to my computer and stupidly sent the "fastboot flashing lock" command and now my Nexus is stuck in a boot loop because of TWRP. I knew that locking the bootloader would initiate a factory reset but didn't take into account that TWRP may affect that so now I can not use my Nexus. The device says it is a developer edition and not intended for personal use and I don't I know what to try. Just letting everyone know I only tried to sideloading and flash. I appreciate everyone who takes the time to read this and try to help.
Have you tried following instructions from google to flash a factory image ?
https://developers.google.com/android/images
I have but I can't flash due to the bootloader being locked and I can't sideloading because every time I tried it just errors or does nothing

Did you try booting your nexus to fast boot and execute fastboot oem unlock?
I have, it just send me an error message
Update, I was able to finally get into the custom recovery and tried to flash the stock recovery and now it just boots into fastboot mode but I got rid of the custom recovery (as far as I know) and the boot screen that said the tablet was a developer device
Same problem here in May 2017, the OTA update prompted by Google sent the device into a bootloop. As the Bootloader was locked and there was no way to change to USB debugging mode it wasn't possible to use Recovery mode or to flash an OTA. Wiped data cache, tried all options in HBoot menu, tried flashing OTAs and full block OTA didn't work either. Just stuck in bootloop.
Repair shop encountered same problems so they then suspected the logic board. They heated it up to reflow the solder and success! Logic board may fail again through dry joint but I believe this risk can't be avoided by switching manufacturer as they all use the same component-to-board soldering practice.

I have searched and searched and searched.....nothing seems to work.....
I was messing around with my phone (latest update and rooted). I was messing with rom toolbox and was trying to change the theme...
Bottom line, phone is stuck on the M screen (dual core screen)
I tried to do a hard reset but it didnt work... Just goes back to the same screen.
any ideas are greatly appreciated!!!!
Thank you in advance
Is your bootloader unlocked? Do you have CWM installed by any chance?...
Sent from my MB860 using XDA Premium App
nope neither
from what you've said it would appear that you've changed something whilst in rom toolbox and as such it won't boot up.
You say you've got the latest update and I am wondering if this means your bootloader is locked now? When did you update your phone? when you start up the phone are you able to get in recovery? (volume down when starting up).
Anything I could suggest is going to be full of dangers (sbf flash for one).
Barry, the phone was updated a few weeks ago. I believe it was running 2.3.6
Any thing that can be done like sbf i am willing to give a try....and yes i messed up in rom toolbox
Soft Bricked my phone
I did the same to my phone as well. I had updated my phone from neutrino 2.7 to 2.8 through CWM. When I booted up for the first time, it worked fine but when I did a factory reset through neutrino, it booted up and then got stuck on the boot screen.
The phone was unlocked and rooted but for some reason usb is not being recognized in the pc, CWM is not loading up and RSD lite wont recognize phone because it is not running Blur. I tried using various commands on fastboot and adb such as fastboot devices and adb device but I dont get anything back..the device seems to stuck in perpetual bootloop. I can get into fastboot and RSd but it is stuck on starting fastboot protocol suppor..
The one bright spot is that LED comes on when i plug in USB without battery meaning the phone is being charged by USB just not being recognized. I tried installing all the drivers and reinstalling them but I usually get a device error on computer which is a 64 bit Windows 7.
I think I am F#Cked..can somebody help me..
theoretically, since I can get into fastboot cant I just go to recovery and wipe the data and then install a update from the SD card?
I would just need to unlock the bootloader right?
it was running the 4.5.141 update.
I can get RSD to show up on the phone and it does connect to the computer.....
FastBoot does connect to the computer

why not give it a try? if it does not work, flash the 4.5.141 update via RSD Lite, if you get into bootloop, push clockwork recovery via fastboot, then boot into recovery wipe cache, wipe davlik cache, wipe data/factory reset, then reboot. if you really can't get it to work you can send it to me so I can try fix it, that is if you would trust me. Just pay for return shipping, you can use usps flat rate box with signature confirmation so you'll know i have received it. I have previously helped a guy in Dell Streak Forum and I have lots of positive feedback in XDA Market place, i just love helping other out, flashing ROMs and fixing broken/bricked phones. Just PM me if you are interested.
I have made progress!
I have managed to unlock the bootloader with the following
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1182871
I am still stuck on the same M screen still, it just says unlocked now.....
Where do I go from here?
Looks like all I need to do now is find a way to get the rom onto the sd card so that I can flash it with clock work recovery.....
I tried to mount my external 2 gig card and do it that way but it didnt work....
Any other ideas?
There's a TL;DR at the end !
Hi - I hope you will be able to help me !
I have a XT910 Motorola Razr from Rogers in Canada.
I've had a Nexus S for a long time and I guess I wasn't prepared for a phone that wasn't as friendly to modding and flashing.
Before trying to flash a version of CM10 found here in the forums, I installed CWM Touch and made a nandroid backup - standard stuff.
What I didn't realize until it was too late is that booting into recovery DOES NOT boot CWM Touch - but rather the regular android one - the one that does not allow you to do much other than to factory reset.
I found out about RSD Lite but not until my battery wasn't charged enough and couldn't do anything about the phone.
I searched for the longest time on a LOT on different forums about how I could fix this and resorted to getting a factory cable - which works.
So, now, I can flash stuff using fastboot. Great, right ? Well, I still can't get things working.
RSD Lite doesn't detect my phone, and I believe that's because ADB doesn't detect it as well - so I tried that alternative way to flash fastboot files provided by the eternity project.
I've tried various fastboot packages but to no avail.
The best I can do is to get past the motorola logo - then black screen. Otherwise, I get boot or flash failures and get sent back to fastboot.
When the phone is on the black screen and that I plug a USB cable to my phone, Windows sees the device but it doesn't recognize it - I assure you I've tried all the different drivers to try and get it to work. Nothing.
Worth mentioning - I often get errors "Preflash validation failure" when trying to flash stuff.
I really feel I could fix this issue by flashing an IMG version of CWM touch or some other sort of recovery so that I can recover using a nandroid but they are no where to be found ! I can't believe that all recovery options are installed by APKs.
Any ideas ?
TL;DR, XT910 went boot looping after trying to flash CM10 - resorted to getting a factory cable and even then, can't get the phone back into working condition. Phone is detected by fastboot but not ADB.
Thanks !
first... the battery is the problem

How to Boot your Phone on Low Battery with Fastboot Flash Failure
To boot your phone on low battery where you get stuck on fastboot flash failure, hold down Volume Up and Volume Down then plug in “AC” USB charger to your Droid Razr. This will give you the bootloader menu upon where you can choose “Normal Recovery” to boot. If your phone doesn’t boot here, it will at least re-charge the battery normally instead of being stuck on fastboot flash failure which will re-charge your phone “very very slowly”.
I was on my phone when suddenly it just booted off for no reason, weird right? So now it just stays on the "LG" boot up screen and now do anything. I've tried everything and done everything right (as far as I know) before I get into that let me tell you what my device can do as of now:
Devices DOES have fastboot oem unlock done
Phone was rooted as well and working perfectly (or so I thought until this happened)
ADB doesn't seem to work, but fastboot when connected to the computer does.
Ex: ADB devices (blank)
but fastboot devices (shows phone connected)
I've tried rebooting into recovery (Power + down) doesn't do anything, however, {Power + down} then finger off power then {Power + down} again takes me to "factory reset" option, if done so the phone just hangs and removing battery on way to take it back to fastboot on pc, or bootloop again.
I've done the following steps using [LG-H901] Stock .img Files (Boot, System, and Recovery)
Code:
fastboot flash system system.img
then
fastboot flash boot boot.img
and finally
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
I've tried booting the phone and still gets me stuck on bootloop, and doing the same {Power + down} gets to the same "factory reset" option only then freezes my phone if I agree to do so.
Is there something I've done wrong or incorrect? I will provide as much info as requested.
Thanks guys!
Update: Phone booted up to lockscreen after finishing "Android is starting..." procedures, then kept bootlooping and it is now doing "Android is starting.." procedures again. I'll keep it updated if it keeps doing so or anything of the sort.
Did you reply YES when trying to enter recovery? It will ask 2 times and bith times answer YES ... And if you DO have TWRP installed it will boot into twrp recovery.

This is the weirdest thing, phone worked for a bit then shuts off and does the same thing. all files and everyhing was in tact. ANy main reason behind this? I am desperate not to delete everything because i have important photos on there that were still there when it re-started again right now.
So to recap: At the moment doing the {factory reset} got me as far as using phone for like 2 minutes before ****ting out and sending me on a bootloop yet again.
Important Questions:
On all my other devices I am able to connect via usb and read devices, but on this phone I get the message when connecting to my computer "LGE Android MTP Device: Failed" whats this about?
Is there any way to save internal photo album images other than getting this to boot up and pray it stays on long enough to transfer data?
UPDATE 2: Phone has booted up and not froze (yet)? Testing to see if it will keep working so far so good. Unfortunately all my **** was deleted which bummed me out, would have honestly prefered to lose a $600 phone than all the family, friend, ext photos I had on my phone I made the huge mistake of saving to internal memory and never backing up. Smh.
Update 3: Phone is back at it again with the bootloop. I have no idea what is wrong, I've repeated the steps twice and phone doesn't seem to let up. It's fine until I hit that restart or shutdown button then it goes into bootloop heaven. I'm guessing this phone is done for? On an unrelated note it did fall on me, but worked fine afterwards, it was just sudden when it started doing this. Unless anyone has more suggestions I'd be glad to hear them. As of right now, this phone is toast.
You tube how to bake phones in the oven.
It could fix some potentially loose solders..or since everything was already wiped you should get a warranty replacement.. Should still be under factory warranty.

I am thinking the warranty route. Is there anything specific I should do before doing so? I hear having "fastboot oem unlock" {Bootloader Unlocked} voids the warranty. Is this true that you might know of? Either way thanks I appreciate the information.
Sorry so late..
But you can try to fastboot oem lock it.
How I bricked (and unbricked) my tablet SM-T820 due to OEM Unlock setting and battery drain - I hope this is useful for someone making the same mistake! I successfully rooted my Tablet S3 T820 with TWRP 3.2.1-1 and Magisk and installed SM-T820 Tweaked without any problem the moment I received it - it's a great daily driver!
While fiddling to fix an app crashing due to safetynet issues, I unchecked OEM-Unlock and forgot about it. The tablet ran out of power and upon reboot gave an FRP boot error "Security Error: This device has been flashed with unauthorized software & is locked. Call your mobile operator for additional support...". Any attempt at booting into TWRP was FRP blocked I guess because of the locked Bootloader. I immediately tried doing a stock firmware restore etc. via ODIN which failed at about 65%, probably due to a low battery (which I didn't know as there was no way of seeing the battery status). Upon reboot I had a screen saying "use the emergency recovery function in the smart switch PC software". When I tried reflashing stock firmware through Odin again, the tablet connection kept disconnecting/dropping out every 10 seconds or so and restarting always going back to the same “use smart switch” error message. The same happened in Download mode. I now know this was due to a drained battery. I couldn't power off the Tablet in order for it to charge as it always switched on as soon as power was connected.
The fix: I noticed when in the error boot screen "use smart switch to recover" it didn’t charge at all (I had it plugged in for 8 hours) and always cut out and rebooted to error msg. every 10 seconds. The first time I managed to stop it cutting out was by booting into Stock Recovery Mode with "Home & Vol+ & Power" buttons while plugged into the wall socket (stock recovery must have installed just before Odin failed the first time I tried to unbrick). I had it plugged into the wall socket in Recovery Mode for about 2 hours where it very slowly charged a tiny bit. In stock recovery I booted into "Reboot Bootloader" where it went directly to Odin Mode saying “Downloading... Do not turn off target”. I then reflashed my firmware without any errors. After first boot the battery was still only on 1%! I again have a brand new, functional Tablet! Now back to Rooting . . . and never touching oem-unlock again!

Are you using the latest Odin? 3.13.1 I think.

recovery is twrp, I can't boot to recovery and charge
Hi All,
I am currently in the phone repair business. Well i buy as much as i can fix and sell on. Its all fun. I have a very nice one currently and looking to see if anyone has ideas. All i want to do is boot to recovery that is my current goal.
So phone clearly has corrupt installation, likely a flash Rom or update gone wrong. It boots to Huawei logo then reboots and that's all it does. Tried de-powering and all sorts including removing battery cable but to no luck.
There is no recovery mode
No download mode
Can get to fastboot but unable to run commands it seems due to FRP lock. I am not worried about FRP lock at this time, i only want recovery back.
Tried:-
All flash commands and all fail
Any attempt to get to receovery or download mode fails
All three buttons to force SD card boot fails
Currently trying to boot using SD card but seems i need to change boot devices from within recovery. Well it has no recovery mode so no luck there.
So it is pretty much a brick at this point and could be a write off but before I give up does anyone have any other ideas? maybe a FB command i can run with FRP lock and bootloader lock on?
Thanks
Karl
