Install stock Rom. Maybe you are lucky. Also there is a tool for Qualcomm devices to program the chip directly find it if custom ROM doesn't work. There is thread here somewhere
if you use the factory image (qfil), you might get the splitscreen issue. to avoid this you can simply overwrite the bootloader (emmc_appsboot.mbn) before flashing in the extracted folder the flashtool created. just extract it from s20 stockrom, it's in the firmware-update folder. i suggest to use flashone insted of qpst.
i don't know if it will fix imei but this is a total factory reset of the phone.
if you made a backup of efs in twrp before loosing imei, try restoring it first!
i always keep an efs backup on my pc.

Loosing IMEI is very serious trouble. If this solutions don't work and you don't have backup I think you have nothing else to do. Backup is always good even if it's old. I suggest you do one now in case things get worse
Try this: https://forum.xda-developers.com/le-max-2/how-to/guide-hard-brick-fix-qualcomm-hs-usb-t3492949
If it won't work, try to flash modem and repair IMEI with Xposed. The IMEI number is printed on the sticker that's on the back of the box.
Yeah Valy has good idea, install xposed then download id changer module which will let you set the imei
Were you able to resolve this?

Hi guys, I must have read a hundred posts about this issue to no avail.
I recently rooted an old S3 GT I9300 using CF-Auto-Root and Odin. I was sure I backed up the EFS folder, but it would appear I didnt. Now I am runnning the Paranoid Android 3.0 ROM on the device with absolutley no mobile network/signal and although i have the IMEI written down the S/N seems to have changed to a generic 15 digit number as opposed to the original RCF**** or whatever it should be.
Ive tried Kies and re-installing a stock ROM which is both hard to get hold of and doesnt seem to want to unzip from CWM Recovery even after cl;earing the Caches and doing a factory reset. I've also tried re-writting the bin file using a hex code app and terminal with no luck, and EFS Pro only seems to make me think ive restored the EFS by backing up the already corrupt one and restoring that....
It is possible to rectify my EFS issue (nv_data.bin file I assume) with only a written down IMEI and no serial?? if so please advise... as Im seriously stuck and although ive considered using a friends efs folder im sure this is probably illegal...
HELP, Thankyou
oh..and...
It occurs to me that the guy to talk to is spocky12, yet i have yet to pm him pending your advice.... thankyou for any help i may receive..
Hi im also in the same position ive tried loads of stock roms for the UK as thats where i am... to no avail ive tried the original 4.0.1 rom all the way up to the latest 4.4.2 rom and each time the imei number is 0000999......... ive tried modem patches most of which are from looking through the xda site but nothing seems to work.... i could never back the efs up as when i had the phone it was in a constant loop so never knew which software/modem/firm it actually had on it as i could not get past the samsung logo. but since i have flashed latest android for the phone it will boot in fine just wont connect to a network and imei number is wrong ive been days trying to figure this out :crying::crying: Please Help!

Hi Dejay, its good to know im not the only one. have you tried using the Kies program to reinstall stock firmware, did that change anything? Also not sure if you tried this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JqLK_2I-SBM method but it didnt work for me, the HEx lines he refers to dont exist in my nv-data.bin.
Coincidentally, thats exactly how i acquired this issue, it stopped booting so i factory reset deviced, then backedup and rooted, then installed custom ROM and somehow lost backed up /efs .Im now showing an 000049 IMEI and tried modem patches, stock roms etc. and no luck. my serials all messed up too and i cant connect to any form of mobile network.
I just changed ROM again as i couldnt get the right Gapps to flash with Paranoid Android Rom 3.0 - now flashing Dirty Unicorns v3.8 from here and all working beautifully except no signal, wrong IMEI and S/N - I am by no means a PRO at all this and so im rather stuck like yourself..
Hopefully we'll be saved?!
Hello everyone,
First of all i want to thank you for all this guides that i was trying to use here
So here's my story.
I got Samsung Galaxy S3 I9300 with bootloop issue so i decide to fix this by myself.
I was trying to install fimware using KIES but i doesn't fix my issue.
Then i was trying to search for right rom on several websites.
The right one and only working one was 4.0.4 with orange brand logo.
So i was excited that its finally working
Then i realize that my imei is null and my sim card is not working.
So i was trying to restore EFS using several tools and methods.
Finally i got it default IMEI 0049 but it was still not working.
My phone is not qualcomm based model so i cannot use nv item reader writer as it's required to edit IMEI
Even after applying phonutil patch my device is not being recognize as Qualcomm one.(because it's not)
So i was still looking for another way to change my imei manually as i have my original one on the box and under battery.
Finally I realized that i cannot make even Emergency calls it comes with message Out of service area.
So i was trying to apply few modem and radio updates to my phone but none of them are helping.
Anyone have similiar issue?
I have another Galaxy S3 that is working can i copy imei or whole system to my not working phone?
I know that after that i cannot use other device, but thats ok if its possible.

Have you tried patched modem and kernel? Did you read the guides on xda >> http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3/general/ref-imei-efs-stuff-i9300-including-t2393289 << and no you cannot copy imei from another phone.

I tried everything from this guide.
Regarding patch:
4.0.4-I9300BVALE4 firmware is the only one working on my Samsung
Patched modem and kernel that i found and try it are XXUGMK6.
Maybe they are different one or dedicated to my firmware

The reason you can't make calls is because at some point your phone software was on 4.3 this means your efs as changed to efs v2. Now because your current firmware is at 4.0.4 then your efs can't read this because 4.0.4 is efs v1. So you need to get a 4.3 stock rom onto your phone (I know you said only 4.0.4 works) but what are you using install firmware are you using Odin? If so what errors are you getting installing with Odin.
The patched modems and kernels are for 4.3 so they won't work on 4.0.4 or any other apart from 4.3
I was trying so many of them but its always ends with samsung logo loop it doesn' matter if i'm
do things like wipe cache, factory settings etc everytime its not working.
Even on 4.0.4 only this one rom is working.
Im always using ODIN, with KIES its always ends with samsung logo loop.

Ok a couple of things you could try (if you haven't already) I presume you have a custom recovery? Try flashing a custom stock 4.3 with recovery I suggest this >> http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3/general/rom-sammys-stock-deodexed-rooted-t2585670 << This is as close to stock as possible but can be flashed with a custom recovery like Cwm,PhilZ,Twrp etc. You will also need to flash a 4.3 modem for this which is included in the thread. If the modem in the thread does not give you a signal (presuming the rom boots ) then keep the same custom rom but flash a patched modem and kernel on top with your custom recovery.
Don't forget to factory reset after flashing!
If none of that works you can always try the rescue firmware here >> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=30087735&postcount=6 << obviously flash the 4.3 one. Hope that helps
Thank you very much for your help i will try this and let know here if it's working

So it's me again.
I have good news and bad news.
So i was able to install both of firmware with success.
After applying patched modem everything was still working.
But when im calling 112 for example im still having "out of service area" and my imei is still 004999...
So issue is still exist.
I can discover any network when i choose network its even says"registred on network" but then if im trying to choose some number im having error message that im not registred or if emergency call "out of service area".
Any ideas what still can i try ?
hi i own a g+ mx4 with these specs http://specdevice.com/showspec.php?id=0edc-a3a4-4c71-8c0e1c20d6e6
the problem is that after a factory reset the phone does not recognise the sim cards.
when i check the imei trought settings it says uknown.
i have tried many ways to write the imei (following suggestions of many xda users) but non of them worked for me.
i think the problem is that the radio and the nvram are missing
so i m searching for the stock rom to flash it again (i don't have a backup) of it
if there is anyone that owns this phone please take a backup of your rom and send it to me
I have original firmware for G+ MX4
Download from mab.to/lCz9mLwSU and use SP_Flash_Tool_v5.1408.00 (or what do you have but this works for me). If after reflash there is problem run administrator menu and clean all cash files.
Enjoy
Hi.i have already solved the problem.thank you!
How did you do this? I mean did you found original or compatible ROM, because it's awful fake and I want to flash with right ROM.
I wiil inform you as soon as i get home because i dont remember the process.i think i have a backup of the rom stored at my pc
hi.i m uploading the rom for you.it does not work perfectly but at list it helped me make the phone usable again.
what i found after a lot of research was that my phone had some files damaged during a factory reset, so it could not read sim cards and lost its imei.
what worked for me was to take a backup of the damaged rom that the phone was running and then i replaced a file (i think it was the secro.img but i m not sure) with the equivalent file of one official rom from a lenovo phone that had the same chipset.
There is no need to do this- I have backup of original ROM but I want other for real technical parameters.
Can you upload the rom for me?because mine has some issues
I did it already. Because I'm new I can't post links so I wrote mab.to/lCz9mLwSU Not full address but I'v tested- it works.
So, I can't understand do you have other ROM which is for rihgt hardware?
Nope.. I just have a damaged version of the stock rom.thank you for your rom
Surely it's JIAKE
I'v tested with ROMs for JIAKE V5 and V10 and with them there are some problems with display. With V5 display looks OK, hardware keys work but touchscreen not. With V10 everything work but screen resolution isn't suited.
I have a Samsung Galaxy S3 i9300, i flashed on it a ROM (CyanogenMod 12.1 Lollipop 5.1.1) everything was working fine but the last few days my phone could open the Mobile Data but there's no signal bars like: H, H+, E ... and the internet dosen't work on it. i think that the problem is on the ROM (i think that is not stable) but everything was working correctly when i first install it. I've verified that there's no problem with the SIM in general beacause i put it in another phone and it worked nicely. So please can anybody help me to solve that and thank you of all my heart.

It happened to my phone yesterday and I got it back.
You have a corrupted EFS. Two ways of bringing it back.
1. If you had taken a backup of your system, restore and you will see the signal.
2. Restore your bricked device by loading the orginal system 4.3 from sammobile.com
Google for detailed instruction, you have youtube videos and many in the forum have commented how to unbrick.

Only choice is to restore to 4.3 from Sammobile. You can register as a free member and downmoad..takes a lot of time. But after you get it, flash that file using Odin. After you restart you will see the signal.
Then you have to begin the process all over again.
Root the phone, install TWRP, take backup to your sd card. Then take a stable ROM.
A "script kiddie" here, tried to customize my phone for the first time, accidentally installed a wrong version ROM, the phone went into a bootloop and so i decided to completely wipe the internal storage (that was so very dumb...)
Now after a day of struggle i managed to install everything i wanted - TWRP and a custom MIUI, but ever since that memory wipe i lost my signal. After searching around some, it seems that my IMEIs got lost (disconnected, corrupted, i dont know how to call it) and the phone can not detect either of my SIM cards. WiFi works fine. I do not have "nvram" folder or file anywhere on my phone.

Look in Q&A section/IMEI NVRAM Restore Tools post. That is allmost the only way to restore lost IMEI.
Good luck.

Im getting lost in that wall of text. Cant i just replace my damaged "nvram" with someone elses working one? Switching IMEI to mine afterwards of course.
Also it says i dont have a baseband, should i be fixing that first?

At the end of that tutorial look for a small word tutorial zipped. Read that one first.
Turns out all i had to do was mess around with firmware re-flashing until i got a working baseband and then use Chamelephon to set up IMEIs.
Everything was that easy.

Try this: reset the phone to factory defaults. Then try to see if IMEI'S are still there.
Tell me what firmware worked. It is a valuable information for others.
Thanks.

I wiped all the factory settings and the ROMs i used to mess around were: P780_S124_ROW_140403, flashed through flashtool, supposed to be the "official" ROM (the one i got the stable baseband from) and MIUISU_4.4.2v_P780_7.2.24_ROW (the one im using currently). All the IMEIs got restored through Chamalephon as soon as i got a working baseband and i can send/accept calls and SMS with no problem. However there is a bug with constantly changing MAC now.

Hi. Did you installed MIUISU over s124 ?
If you did, you must update to s228 Kitkat.
S124 is jellybean. You will get errors, if you install kitkat over jellybean.

No, i installed s124 backed up the baseband and nvram files through MTK. Then i flashed the system, installed MIUI and recovered my baseband. The unstable MAC error started in s124 already.
