Hey there you awesome developers.
I am just after a new rom which is stable and fairly fast but with good battery life.
I am currently on the official Three UK 4.03 rom and frankly.. it sux the big one.
The battery life is just absolutely terrible and it is also starting to become a little buggy in the last few days.
I have also had bluetooth connection problems to my work car since upgrading to ICS.
Any ideas or good suggestions for a rom that you can recommend??
Cheers people and major props for an awesome forum, just awesome.
There is no such thing as the "fast but stable rom with good battery life". You have your phone setup differently to everyone else, you use your phone differently to everyone else and your phone came out of the factory slightly differently to everyone else's.
A rom that runs well for me might not run well for you.
I suggest you go the development sections of the forum & read the first few pages and the the last 10-20 pages of the particular threads devoted to different roms. That way you will get an idea of the features/pluses/minuses of each rom, and also see other users' experiences with that rom.
Given how quick/simple it is to flash roms & backup/restore in CWM there is no excuse for you not trying out a bunch of roms for yourself. Tipping this thread is closed within an hour.

Hi all. Had my SII for a long time now (since release). Just gave it to my girlfriend, and the nexus ROM I had on it keeps crashing in random ways. For example, stock keyboard stopped working completely, and kept forcing the force close popup. I'm just looking for a stable ROM for texting, talking, taking photos, and Facebook. This isn't a best ROM question, just a good, stable ROM with decent battery life. Thanks all.

Shostock 3 was solid for me. Im running the ported version of pacman now from iconrunner and it's very good. But if you want a solid, no frills, stable, great battery for her, Sho3is my pick. Not alot of customization like pac/ aokp but it's awesome i tell you.

This is exactly like a best Rom thread. Any Rom we have on these forums is likely to be stable.

My Recommendation for a high stability rom, with V good battery life (although that will always vary with how it is used) is Shostock3. Moreover, Shoman94's XDA thread for SHOSTOCK3 is very informative, positive, and reflects a wide range of user and Dev experience and insights.
Good Luck!
Shostock3 is where its at. Touchwiz has some awesome features and Shoman pretty much perfected them.

Agreed SHOstock is solid but Tasks and Goldie's ROM are also solid players. But agreed this is a vs thread and will most likely get shut down. Try them for yourself and see what works best for you.

redux -this is a valid question

After re-reading the comments on this thread, I would like to add a post with an additional perspective.
I appreciate that some will not agree with the following --and I respect their differing opinions. It is important that they express their views so that we all have a balanced range of views to consider (especially the mods, if they read this thread )
Anyway, I would like to support the OP in his/her question or search for an answer:
- The OP question, and most responses to it, seem to me to reflect a qualitative difference from the typical "what's the best rom"? question. Here is why I say this:
- "Best rom" questions typically (but not exclusively) are characterized by a variety of assertions or declarations about a rom (or several roms), where the respondents assert characteristics that make a particular rom *superior* to all other roms.
- This OP's question, as posed and even noted by the OP, seeks only selected, specific datapoints, or feedback on specific characteristics or criteria. The poster seeks stability and reliability (not defined in detail) information for available SG2 i777 roms. [His focused concern (since he gave the phone to his girlfriend!) is real!]
- This is a specific and limited scope question. It is not an open-ended "best rom," solicitation. It seeks input that differs materially from that "best-rom" type of question. In this regard, the difference between the two questions is clear.
-Most replies here do address the specific question, and do not comment on the excellence or the superiority of one rom over all roms. That also highlights the distinction between his question and the "best rom" question.
An aside here, or additional comment, is that those of us who flash many roms over the days, weeks, and months of changes and (rom) developments do see variation in performance among the differing roms. It would not be an honest reflection of XDA to suggest that all roms on XDA are equally stable or equally reliable.
Therefore, soliciting feedback on rom stability or reliability, especially in the Q&A section, should not be deemed inappropriate, or viewed as a surrogate attempt at a "best rom" face-off.
Hope this can help keep the questioning (& answering) process alive!
Good Luck
Looks to me like he got his answer, and I tend to agree that Shostock is probably the most stable rom I have run. I haven't run the latest but the previous 2 or 3 have run flawless, and I can't recall a single random reboot on any of them much less ever having a SOD.
I ran stock on my S2, did an update, phone started locking up.
I switched to ParanoidAndroid, and my stability increased from there on out. Never had a problem with that rom.
I currently Using Custom Roms for the past 6 months.... I make my phone (Xperia Mini Pro (SK17i)) as the tester for every ROMs. I also use it for personal. Well... Im not hating the Stock rom from sony, but sometimes im really desperate about those latest ROMs like Android 4.1 - 4.3 (and Even ANDROID 4.4 KITKAT). So, I try to make my phone's bootloader unlock, by using the official method. the DRMs are lost but it's ok, because i dont buy any musics online.
After I unlocked the Bootloader, I try the other roms... Im always want to see every post in every thread about those roms, until I saw this LegayXperia which is kinda cool.
So... here is my Very First Impressions about the CM10.1 and CM10.2 by LegacyXperia.... The System UI is much similar to the stock google ROMs, but this is the best roms that i can get, because of some reasons:
1. I like the Stock UI (not the sony UI from ICS).
2. I want the Rom that has good memory management, no more no less.
3. And lastly, It updates constantly such as builds and realeases.
There are the Few bugs, but The developers really tried their best as much as they could do, as long as the Roms got the best performance, I expreimented the tweaks and bandwidths and stuff. I try to fix the issues of my phone such as overheat, the top part of the screen isnt responding, and the battery draining issues. I applied the tweaks from different thread and it works flawlessly, no battery drain issues (governor tweak), no touchscreen issues (touch screen fix), and the bandwidth is much stable(change bandwidth). I cant remember those links, but you have to try check it out on the other threads or seach at google, it might be help.
NOTE: im not judging other roms. I just sharing my thoughts about these ROMs.
You should post this kinda of stuff in the dedicated ROMs thread in the android development section. And please read:

Hello comunity,
A have a Q for you.
Our beloved phone began (a long time ago) to show his age. After a lot of ROM swiches, based on the stable base, for stability or the newest versions of CM/AKOP/ASOP etc. I reached a point where I'm tired to try every week something new, and I search for a stable, slim ROM, with performance tweaks (to make this old phone to be somewhat responsive) and wait with him for my GS2 to have his last breaths, before I put him in a museum .
Any sugestions?
THX.

Hello,
I was really into XDA forum few years ago but some things got into my life so I backed off a bit. I still got my SGS II tho and there is Siyah Kernel 3.0.33 - 3.3.1+ version installed on top of Ressurection Remix ICS 2.0 by westcrip 4.0.4.
As I'm not into the flow anymore and I need advice fast as possible because I'm reformating my SGS II soon - I need recommendation. I need a ROM who currently gives me the most bugfixes and most stability and speed. That's all I'm about, I like speed, good functions and a lot of bugfix/speed scripts automatically installed but still - ROM that flows with newest Android versions.
Can I get recommendation for ROM and Kernel?
Thanks.
No, you can't. Rom/kernel recommendations are forbidden here. For a simple reason - you will not have the same experience of a given rom or kernel as someone else due to phone setup & usage. There are too many variables involved.
Make a nandroid, go over to the two development sections, read some thread, try out some roms/kernels.
Mods will be closing this thread shortly.
I would rather spent my time testing someones recommendation then trying so many ROM's by my own hand, this way I can set the percentage of **** ROM's down to less percent and good stuff higher ... but yeah, thanks, you were very, very helpful.
Not interested. Rules are you try these things yourself. Stop being lazy.
More like an order, I'm not lazy, I'm just trying to spare time, and I guess everyone does that, maybe not if you don't have anything important to do. I'm not saying this to interest you ...
