Just download the ftf and rename the file to zip

Still no. Flashable zip is needed. That contains sin files.

You can extract system.sin to system.ext4 with flashtool and use any linux reader to extract files from system.ext4.

You flash the .tar via PDA. Don't open the .tar file.

i wouldnt expect it to be zip.tar more likely tar.zip if so
you can extract the zip file, input any passwords and it should leave you with a .tar file.
you then flash the .tar file using odin on the pda option, without changing any other options. It includes the files you talked about before but as an all in one package. So only the one file is required.
I think the problem is that your file is not from here so I really cannot say what the problem is. I don't use zip format and none of the firmware archives are password protected, just the kernel archives.

How to flash nAa kernal

I have x10 mini
I have unlocked bootloader
But now I can't flash kernal
I ran flashtool, clicked flash but when I browsed to select the kernal in firmware folder it is not seen

"Download the kernel ftf file from here and move it to Flashtool\firmwares so that Flashtool can pick it up"
got this from naa kernel thread
I have moved that zip file to firmwares folder but it is not picking it
The ok button is not visible also
Sent from my X10mini using XDA
Are you kidding me seriusly?? You should Extract the .zip file to get the kernel tft file, then place the kernel tft file into firmware folder. Thats it buddy!
Download this and install, to extract the .zip file : Winrar
Right Click the .zip file and click "extract here" you'll get the kernel file.
Iam not kidding
After extracting I got a folder meta-inf,kernal.sin and loader.sin
Which all should I move to firmwares folder

Install DSIXDA kitchen first..tutorial here
Now use an already existing custom ROM, Stock Firmware, Nandroid Backup to create your working folder..
Do whatever you want to do..
Now copy the meta-inf folder from an existing CWM flashable ROM..and paste it into your working folder..
Select the system folder, boot.img, META-INF folder and create a zip file ..
if you have modem.bin and /data/app functionality..you will have to make appropriate changes to your updater-script file..
Sign your zip using the tool i have attached..
[How To]
Extract the zip file in a folder
rename your zipped ROM as update.zip
put it in the Autosign folder
run the AutoSign.bat file
Now wait untill your zip is signed..you will get a update-signed.zip as the final ROM..

That zip file he attached is only for signing the rom zip after it's done.
Are you getting errors when deodexing it? Is it failing to deodex ALL files or just some?

No galaxy s3 is not supported.. So you will not be able to get the complete rom out of it.. You will have to do some manual work.. Which I have stated in my post..

have you set the api level to 16..also deodex framewok and system apps together..
Do you need Linux to create a rom or you can do this on windows... i know you can get a virtual box and use linux on windows . But is there people creating roms purely on windows operating systems??

Just use updater-script or update binary extracted from another similiar type of ROM.
Kitchen mods won't work because it uses update-script, and doesn't convert to updater-script properly.
Will likely give a Status 7 error in CWM.
Updater script could be modded manually with notepad ++.
But, you don't really need to change anything in there. except ui_print.

Oh no no. You are going the Samsung way I guess. In all Sony phones, we dont have a recovery partition. That means that we can't flash kernels from CWM. The only way is fastboot. So no way to include kernel in your rom zip file. Sorry. At the most you can only recommend users to use a particular kernel.

OHHHH!!... but in the tutorial by nero young on how to build a custom rom .. he has a sk17i and he uses his own custom kernel when he builds the rom... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=26283930
so if i cant use a custom kernel .. how do i extract the kernel.sin into the rom?
Basically you just can't flash kernel with the phone.
Usual practive in our phones is to include th boot.img in the rom file and ask it to be extracted and flashed via fastboot through pc.
Hope it helps
Don't know about the tuto

You don't have to worry about the kernel when building a rom on stock rom. Just work on the system and you should have a proper working rom.

Dude you can directly add root and busybox.and whatever you want. Check your pm.

Hi,
You can use the attached META-INF folder. It has only the basic stuff like basic symlinks and permissions required for the rom to work properly. Just check the comments in the updater-script to know where to add your tweaks.
Good luck developing
