Root aps that would continue working when unrooted ? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
Newbie Here. So, this might be a stupid question.....
I recently installed lineage 14.1 in my Nexus 7 and followed up with installing addonsu-remove-arm-signed, which allows me to unroot and root pretty freely. I have pretty simple needs with my Nexus 7 and root mainly to get rid of bloat, but keep it unroot almost all of the time (security?). There are some very nice performance apps for rooted androids that don't work after I am in unrooted mode.
Is there anything performance oriented that I can do to improve my pad in root that would continue to be effective when I unroot the device?
Thank you very much,
Tam

Hi Mattieu,
You will probably be told by some that you should have searched first but unless you know what you are searching for it is kind of difficult since I see this is your first post. You need to decide how far you would like to go with this to be honest. First you can root your stock rom, you can install a custom rom, you can unlock your bootloader (this voids your warrenty) but after that you can install a custom recovery do backups and install custom roms. Also you will be in a position to use nvflash which will allow you to recvoer from most software bricks.
Rooting and playing with roms with no nand backup can be slightly dangerous but like I say you need to decide on your comfort level first.... Also if you go beyond the stock rom you may not be able to get any ota updates depending on what you do. If you unlock you definately cannot get ota updates but as soon as there is an offical release of a new rom, the developers have a custom version within a couple of weeks to a month...
This is great for rooting. Simple as pie.

As mentioned the device is easy to root. I have stuck with the Asus ROM and have not unlocked but I have rooted and used Titanium Backup to freeze apps (including system apps) that you don't think you need. This is a really safe approach for a beginner because frozen apps can be easily restored. This is important when working with system apps. On my Droid 3 phone for example, there were some system apps that I didn't think I needed but when I froze them I found that I actually did need them (i.e. it caused something else to break). Rooting also will let you overclock if you want to.
The other point is that the release of the Asus Android 4.1 release is probably imminent, though we don't know exactly when - it should be soon. Personally I'm going to stick with what I've got until after that happens just to give the new Asus rom a chance. You will not get this update if you unlock, though the custom ROM developers will probably have their own version of it out not too long after the stock release. Still, I'm taking a wait and see approach for the time being.
Thx for your responses !
So, i should wait for the new ROM stock version (jellybean isn't it ?). OK
But i can already root the tablet, there's no link with the ROM ?
And before running the root, i should use titanium backup to save my actual configuration, in order to restore it if there's a problem ?

Used SuperOneClick which says it has worked however none of the Root checkers say it is and the Super user apps can't update their binaries, anyone know how to properly root these tablets?
I too have purchased this tablet from ALDI, I am very happy with it. Would love to be able to root it... you know what I mean

I have successfully rooted it following the instructions from http://whrl.pl/RdvMXo
However I had to do some things a little different, (after reading the guide you'll understand my next bit)
after I clicked the restore data and it doing the restore it's meant to reboot the tablet although mine didn't so after trying this several times I rebooted it manually to which it actually worked.
My only anger towards this tablet is that it was advertised as 1.2GHz CPU when in fact it's 1GHz.
Champion! Worked for me, Only took 10min.
Now that the device is rooted, what would you suggest next?
Im not well versed on the apps, roms or other things to run on a tablet. So any ideas would be great.
My phone is rooted with Clockwork Mod and a custom rom, is this possible with the tablet?
And once again, thanks for the help

See now I haven't done anything ROM wise with my tablet as of yet because there are no ROMs that I can find for our little chinese made no name brand tablet, I'll be keeping my ears and eyes open for any ROMs I can find or ones that people have tested, I'm just not keen to test one of them myself and brick my tablet.
Hi, I need someone's help in testing a new version of my Online Nandroid script. It has built-in support for MTK based devices such as yours. If anyone would like to try the beta, please send me a PM.

Best method of rooting for new z2

Hello everyone,
I just received the z2 that I purchased a few weeks ago. It is the D6503 and it should be running 4.2.2. I am coming from the Galaxy line, so I am a little unfamiliar with the nuances of the Sony software. While I do not need to install a custom rom just yet, I am looking at rooting it and running lollipop on it. However, I do not want to lose the stability and ability that comes with having my DRM intact. Can someone provide me with a little guidance on the direction to go with getting rooted and on lollipop?
Thanks everybody for your help.
Downgrade to 4.4.2, then install the XZDR. That will give you a working recovery so you can install a prerooted firmware in .zip format.
It will not be modified, just plain boring firmware with root and recovery.
Thank you very much. I know the stock will likely be boring, but since I just got the phone, I want to keep my warranty within reach until I am sure there are no issues with it. Plus, it does get bothersome losing the benefits of DRM, so I want to at least see what Sony's hardware has to offer before I take it down a notch.

Help me rooting my phone

Hi everyone ?.
So I have been thinking and I want to root my Galaxy Alpha, something that I have been thinking by a long time... But I know absolutely nothing about root because I had never rooted a device ?. I want to root my device because people say that the real Android experience comes with root, I want to install some other roms (I'm bored of the original one) and I want to change the emojis too ?. But I really need help, I have some questions... After I root my device is there a possibility of revert everything and put it in the original form? (You know, if it needs to go to guaranty) and what are the worst parts of being rooted? (Security problems and everything?)?. After that how do I root my device? I have the SM-G850F Alpha unlocked. I'm in the 5.0.2 Android version (need another data? Please tell) and how do I install roms? Thanks for everything

newbie looking for help to allow root access

Hello, I'd be interested in rooting my Galaxy Tab S3 as I'm constantly running out of space and I'd like to use Link2SD. I have never rooted before so I want to be sure I'm not making mistakes. It's running Android 9.0 and One UI 1.1. My main concern is that I want to make sure my data doesn't get removed, I'm only interested in being granted root access for Link2Sd. I also dont know which programs or sites to use as I've heard some are spyware and that's a concern as well. As my tablet has been upgraded to 9.0 I'm unsure how to go forward as most guides seem older. I'd like to change as little as possible and get straight to rooting. I would appreciate help and suggestions! Thank you!

easy. Just follow ashyx's twrp thread dotted around somewhere in this forum. Go to that thread and follow the oreo instructions (even if youre on pie) and flash this zip at the end before rebooting: Knox Guard Bypass.
by the by the process of rooting WILL WIPE ALL DATA INCLUDING THE INTERNAL STORAGE and it will need a PC. So yeah do your backups.
Hit thanks if it helped
