Battery Question RN4 MTK 3/64Gb variant - Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 Questions & Answers

So, I have a RN4 MTK 3/64Gb variant and I most of the time only get 4-6 hours SOT with Facebook, twitter, watching a few videos and a few games.
I'm ok with that SOT, my question is this.
Why does my battery has spiked like this?
I can assure you I do not charge it during those spikes up. Is there something wrong with my battery? Should I be so worried?
It does the same thing whether I use Epic, Stock or MultiRom.
Screenshot is while I'm using multirom 7.3.23
Thanks!

Question for battery

I had turn off memory optimization and MIUI optimization and had only 7 hours sot. Is this setup causing this SOT or battery needs more charging cycles ?
I'll say it like this.. I'm a heavy user which means, almost the whole time is my phone in my Hands.
If I am on WiFi the whole time, I get about 10-11 hours of SOT.
If I am not only on WiFi but on mobile data and eventually Bluetooth/GPS, I still get about 8 hours.
I have about 20 apps installed, 5 games but it did not slow my phone, the battery is still the same.
That being said, if your phone is new, you simply have to get more than 7 hours SOT.
The only question is, is your phone MediaTek or Snapdragon Version?
If its a MediaTek, then it could be, that your SOT is like that, because the Snapdragon Variant is lil bit better in Terms of battery/Performance.

Based on my experience in miui, turning that two off did not affect battery life substantially, pretty much the same, i still get 10+ sot.
Is your device still new? if yes i think it have some battery hog, new note 4 sd should easily past 9-10 hr

Standby drain

When you sleep, does your phone sleep, or does it stay up all night and crunch 1s and 0s? Rate this thread to express how you deem the speed at which the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4's battery drains under standby conditions. A higher rating indicates that when the phone is not in use, the battery drains minimally.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
Awsome standby ability.Only losses 1 percentage barely when i wakeup morning
Not mine ?mine drain battery as it seems like screen is on all night!!!
Standby was high on miui and miui based roms and it was also high on 7 and 8 roms but the newest roms have the best standby time ever. Only 1 percent in 4 hours. WOW!
With Greenify, amplify and RR Nougat, standby time is crazy high. I get almost two days standby time.

I easily get about 4 days standby time without using any additional apps like Greenify or Amplify. I got this with Slim-ROM (Nougat) and I am getting it with Atomic-OS (Oreo).

Which ROM you are using?
I left MiUi for good. Some say you get 1-4 days standby. Well I got 1-2 days that I keep using the phone. 12 days standby with Lineage 14.1 ROM and franco kernel. MiUi is nice and packed with features but everyone will leave it for good if one wishes for ultimate battery and performance.
However this is only true for Snapdragon variants. If you have Mediatek well... You can be grateful that your phone gets 1 day standby. It's a power hungry wolf. I sold my Mediatek to buy a Snapdragon. Never regretted.

Is miui9 good or custom ROMs?
Sent from my mido using XDA Labs
Mine only drains 1-2% at night (~8-9 hrs standby). Try turning off "double tap to wake up" to get best standby time.

It's okay. If you really want to stick with miui then I advise you use Xiaomi Eu roms.
please help me after my redmi note 4 dropped in water but its in working condition now only some water spots are visible on the scree but the touch is fine but 9% of battery is drained at night (11pm-7am) when i am sleeping and not using my phone but it was not like this before it got in water ,only 1% battery was dropped at night as the same time above

Any advice on how to check if my battery is damaged or toast? I've turned off pretty much everything and the battery is draining like crazy whether in use or not. I'm lucky to get around 2 hours of SOT now.
Not sure if I need a new battery or maybe a new phone.

If your battery was damaged it would heat like hell not just drain. It also depends on the variant if SD or MTK. MTK drains 5x faster than SD. Also miui 7-8-9 weren't very well optimised and drained my battery very fast. MiUi 10 beta on SD variant gets almost a day of screen on time which is really good. One or more day with moderate usage. I use my SD with Lineage os and kud kernel and lasts 8-12 days without charging if I use the phone wisely.

Much lower SOT than month ago.

Hi! I own a RN4X for about 3 months. When i started using it I could easily get minimum 9h of SOT no matter what i was doing (usually im just watching youtube, listening to music and using browser). Now i can get barely 6h of SOT. No matter what ROM I am using or what kernel. Max 7h of sot. Are xiaomi's batteries so weak or just my device is kinda defective? Should i give it to warranty?
You are so spoiled.. there are barely any phones on the market that will give you 7hr SoT, also what you gonna say in warranty? That you have 2 hours less SoT? This guys in service center will face palm so hard..

That doesn't change thing that people i know still have 10h+ SOT on the same usage with that device after using it for a year. It just isn't normal that after 2 months my battery started to behave like its 2000mAh. And battery isn't my only problem. I've got a few bad pixels, headphones sometimes "unplugs" itself and phone starts to use speakers, awful signal in a big city (ofc only for me, i know many xiaomi users and their signal is pretty good in those areas)

There is no such thing as same usage between 2 people, 20% less screen brightness can give you 1 more hour sot if not more, different carrier = different signal = different battery life, there is thousands things like this which make battery life comparisons useless, dont be stupid.
Trust me, i've been using it on 40% of brightness and underclocked cpu to 1684Mhz. We all are using the same carrier. Our use is really comparable. I wouldn't post that if it was different.

try to do super clean flash... means you use OTG to flash... wipe all the partition on device, including the internal storage too....
My wife have been using mido since february and still got 10+ hours SoT, there is no performance or battery degradation. That makes me switch to mido too about a month ago...
do not install use custom kernel, you see the long list of features but actually it's not necessary...
for example, Its absolutely not necessary to underclock the cpu... decreasing cpu clock will not increase battery backup.
When the cpu is slow, yes it will consume lower power on load... but It will need more time to load
When cpu is fast, yes it will consume higher power when on load, but it will go idle faster
calibrate battery usimg an app. you will any on play store. install any and calibrate. the must require root.

dunno, I just keep things simple... install TWRP then flash any rom easily without need of PC.
MiFlash can erase internal too ?

Of course i have twrp. I've been using custom roms. Yes, miflash an erase everything and then install stock images. I guess i will try it.
Well, i flashed stock rom via miflash. Still i can get max 7h of sot on LIGHT using. No custom kernels. No matter if im using a miui based rom or a custom. Still max 7 hours :/

Exactly same issue with my Redmi Note 4 too. I was getting 12 to 13 hours of insane Screen on time with same YouTube, Brower and music but now ots only 6 hours.
Please do let me know if you found any solution.

Meh, I got used to it. If your phone is still under warranty they should replace your battery for free. Im too lazy for that.
same as me too , 10-12hr sot last two month when my rn4x still new , now only 6-7hr sot , using resurection remix with the same usage as before , and dead pixel keep increasing.

Poco X2 Estimated Battery Capacity by Accubattery

So i regularly use AccuBattery app in my android device. It's a very useful one.
So i installed this on my new Poco X2. Those who've used it know that it can estimate your current battery capacity based on charge sessions and some other stuff.
And upon using it showed my Poco X2's estimated battery at around only 3800mah.
And a lot of users also are complaining about battery backup on flipkart.
Please check and post your device's estimated battery capacity via AccuBattery app.
Unfortunately, what Flipkart reviews say is actually right, this phone has serious SOT problems with 120 hz i only get 6.5 hours sot and 8 hours with 60hz and I don't even use it heavily just YouTube and small games with social media. This phone has very poor optimization. I know i shouldn't compare but if you look at realme 6 pro almost same specs but with smaller battery (4300) gives 1 hour more SOT even with heavy usage(both set to 60hz). This is absolutely disappointing, eagerly waiting for custom roms and custom kernels to make it as my daily driver. Will update you on the accubattery results

Thankyou, waiting for it.
Bafore this I was using standard China Rom with mine and battery was a mess. But I unlocked & flash MIUI.eu. I add-on "naptime" to help with Doze & using Universal GMS Doze magisk module. Managed to get almost 8hrs SOT with ads removed, bloatware removed & MSA removed. Maybe you should give it a try and see ?
Same
Battery is fine for me
Don't know how people here getting more than 3.8k mah estimated. Mine doesn't go above that. I'm pretty sure some units have battery problem as reported by few buyers on Flipkart. Some said battery is excellent while some said poor battery. I think poco x2 indian units are suffering more. Since after watching some tests on the redmi k30 Chinese variant by YouTubers they got significanly more SOT. I tweeted to them, no reply from their side yet ?
I got my K30 directly from China. No battery issues whatsoever.
I've been getting consistent SOT of 9.5 hrs on average with heavy use. SOT range for me has been 7 hrs (120Hz) - 11 hrs (60 Hz) on 4G LTE (you can check my post on SOT thread).
Being a heavy user, this battery life has literally blown me away and I absolutely love this phone simply for that. I can easily get thru a very heavy day with 30-40% battery left. I've been charging the phone twice every three days on average.
I'm on stock CN ROM (MIUI 11.0.13 Stable)
I easily get 8 hours + SOT with gaming. I play cod and pubg extensively.
Battery life update after using a month .
Mild gaming and social media usage.
Average sot is around 10hrs , battery lasts 30-50hrs depending on camera usage.
Unable to upload screen shot showing bad request.
Is AccuBattery reliably on first cycles? If many users have 3800 mah insted of 4500mah then something stinks here
My poco X2 shows 4398mah
I am on stock Indian rom miui 11.0.10
I did some quick research across the web and it looks like there are three types of d
1. Battery Drain issue devices, they have bad battery issues, battery capacity way below 4500 and widely varying with users. Screen off discharge is way off charts, like >5%/hr. SoTs varying around 5hrs or <5hrs
2. Inefficient battery devices. (Majority) They have battery capacity much below the specification, however less varying, always around 3800mAh. Battery doesn't drain that badly
I have this device, heavy usage like pubg clocks around 15-20%/hr, normal usage around 10%hr and screen off discharge rate at 0.5-0.9%/hr. Hardly discharges 2-3 percent through the night
3. Ok devices. These are the best sets. Battery capacity constantly goes above 4000mAh (still doesn't hit the required 4500 mark tho). No serious battery drain issues. (I don't know much about these devices because they don't look into the web coz they have no issues.
My specs:
Average battery usage
Screen on
12.9%/h
811% in 63h 3m
Combined use
6.3%/h
870% in 138h 32m
Screen off
0.8%/h
59% in 75h 28m
Based on
43 sessions
in the last 7 days
Full battery time estimates
Screen on
7h 46m
Screen off
127h 55m
Combined use
15h 55m
Usually i get around 9hrs 30 min sot on 60hz and around 8hrs on 120hz...( Without gaming ) after the update of miui 11.0.11 my phones battery backup gradually increased 1 hr on 120hz...+ I did some tweaks blocking system apps from running in the background
After using the phone for 8 months, I noticed that charging speeds have significantly reduced. At the beginning, the battery went from 0-100% in ~70-75 mins if I remember correctly (cross checked this with another review website).
But when I properly checked today (after a long time), it took 118 mins (2 hrs!) for the battery to go from 2-100%. I also plan to check this with the screen/phone off again.
The battery life is still great though, maybe slightly reduced compared to the beginning.

Original charger used and the cable is in perfect condition.
Re-tested today with the phone switched off and it went from 4-100% in 70 mins! So all is good. Planning to test tomorrow again with the phone switched on.
Battery life is still stellar. 8.5 hrs of SOT for 26 hrs of usage on 120Hz; 70% WiFi and 30% LTE.

Question How is your battery life?

Hi guys!
I am looking to replace my Galaxy S22 Exynos model and was thinking about getting the Oneplus 10T.
While I have read that it has amazing battery life with fast charging, I have also read a lot of users saying the OOS13 update completely killed the battery for them.
How are your experiences? I can get a max of 5 hours of SOT with general usage, some navigation, chrome browsing, reddit, discord, instagram and tiktok with 5g and aod disabled. How much sot are you all getting on the android 13 update?

Runnig OS 12.1 battery life is great but doesn't concern me anyway as it charges in 5-10mins daily and is back to 100%
What does concern me and should concern potential buyers is the lack of unbricking tools of us owners!!
