Hi i have a question. I have lg v 10 h960a 32gb under marshmaallow can i root it with tot lolipop version systemrooted without unloking bootloader ? If there is really chance or it is a risk to brick my phone. Thnxs you
Hi,
if you flash the rooted lolipop tot you have a rooted phone with lolipop (of course), but not marshmallow. For rooting marshmallow you need an unlocked bootloader.
If there is a risk in flashing the lolipop tot in regards of bricking your phone I don't know. I always went forward in terms of android versions, never backwards, but I would expect that there are no issues if the tot file contains a complete rom and not just required changes to get a rooted lolipop rom.

This is the original v10a rom. It has an unlockable bootloader and can be easyily rooted. Which should be a prerequisite. But custom roms may not work with the antique baseband rom.
Would be better to update to 4.1.2 first. V20a had an unlockable bootloader and native App-to-SD. In later v2x roms the bootloader may again not be unlockable to prevent rooting. Via OTA you will get v20h or the latest v20o or p roms. I had unlocked the bootloader and rooted when v20c came via OTA.
I would recommend unlocking immediately. But rooting prevents successful OTA, other ways of flashing still work.

and where i found the link to update to 4.12 and V20 or the latest v20o? thank you
Oops. Didn't notice that earlier, because Tapatalk got gang raped and beaten up by its makers. I'm still an unhappy user now.
First unlock bootloader, as the latest roms may prevent this.
Then update to the latest rom via OTA, with LG's service flash tool or their sync suite. Then it should be at least v20h. At least for Artas CM11 you need v20o or p. There is a link somewhere in the two Artas Cm11 threads. After you reached the final level of stock rom evolution, you can root, install a recovery, and try custom roms.
So.... I got lollipop whithout rooting or changing anything (everything stock) but now i want to root my Phone and add a recovery, is it possible in android 5.0.2? Or i have to downgrade to kitkat?
i Think you schold Downgrade, other unloock Bootloader and Root directly
You can root without downgrading. But u have to have unlocked bootloader
I am having moto e 1st gen running lollipop 5.0.2 soak test. And yes its damn slow and laggy. I like to install custom roms. But the problem is that my boot loader is locked. I am just wondering ,if I follow the guide that people used to unlock boot loader when they were in kitkat ,ll help me to unlock bootloader with phone running lollipop.
I can simply get back to 4.4.4. and unlock from there but I saw many warnings regarding downgrading from lollipop to kitkat. And also the guides which helps to downgrade ,are contradiction to each other as one guide includes commands for got, motoboot and logo but the other doesn't include that saying it ll hard brick.
I am really confused abt that.
Any help abt boot loader unlocking with lollipop soak test would be welcome.
Thanks.
I am from India , and xt1022 is the only model here in India I believe.

Bootloader unlocking has nothing to do with system version(lollipop or kitkat) and it is permanent. If you unlocked the bootloader while you were in kitkat it is unlocked forever(unless you go to service centre and replace the motherboard) ,whether you update your rom to soak test or any custom lollipop rom. The guide for unlocking bootloader is same regardless of your system version. If you ever decide to downgrade to kikat ,make sure to downgrade to 4.4.4 If you downgrade to 4.4.2 you may brick your device
And follow this guide to downgrade http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-e/development/downgrade-5-0-x-to-4-4-4-stock-firmware-t3031073

First of all,thanks for replying.
And now my doubt is cleared abt bootloader.
So after bootloader unlocking, I have to root and then flash custom recovery to have custom rom with twrp recovery. ,right ?
Am I missing anything here ?
Will my phone be stuck in bootloop after unlocking boot loader, cos it happens normally in some phones, ?

1)unlock bootloader-->2)flash twrp recovery--->3)*may require* to flash SuperSu to root--->4)Flash custom rom
3rd step may not be required but do it just to be safe.
I got my first ever LG phone. its LG V10. I dont know how to root it. Please all of you experts, I request you people to englighten me the Rooting process for my V10 smartphone. Currently my phone has Lollipop 5.1.1 with build number LMY47V and with Kernel Version 3.10.49. I want to root my phone with the latest android 6.1 lollipop ROM for LG V10. Thank you all.
First of all. Upgrade your Firmware to Android 6.0 by going into Settings-> General -> About Phone-> Update -> Software Update.
You don't have to root to upgrade to Android M.
But still if you want to root your phone.
First of all unlock unlock bootloader of your LG-V10. using the following link to the official guide from LG. (Enable USB debugging and OEM unlock) (This is only for H960A)
https://developer.lge.com/resource/mobile/RetrieveBootloader.dev
Once unlocked.
Install TWRP.
Put SuperSU in your phone and flash it using TWRP.. That's it.
If its your first time. Then use the following guide. It has all the details.
https://itechify.com/2016/08/29/root-lg-v10-install-twrp/
I would not suggest a firmware update yet as far as I know the latest firmware is 6.0.1 which I don't think is rootable

if they have the H960A wich have bootloader unlockable (when updated to Marshmallow) they can root it for sure!
First update to Marshmallow if you have H960A and then unlock your bootloader follow LG website to instructions and then search here for TWRP and then flash SuperSU zip file.
- and the last version of V10 H960A is 6.0 not 6.0.1.

I was having lollipop 5.1.1 for GCC countries like UAE/KSA and due to that reason my phone was not going into bootloader/fastboot mode. But then I upgraded to MarshMallow European version, my phone now can go into bootloader mode and all those steps can be done to unlock my bootloader. Any idea what should I do next after unlocking my bootloader while running MM EU version for the ROOT?:silly::crying:
Hi,
if you have indeed unlocked your bootloader what you should do is the following:
1. install custom recvovery
2. flash SuperSu.
You find a step-by-step guide in this thread (first post).
I gather that it is necessary to unlock the bootloader in order to root - is this possible to do on the Verizon version? If so, could someone point me towards a tutorial, as I have only found posts on rooting, not unlocking the bootloader.
To date, it's not.
Thanks.
So then it is not possible to root the Verizon version?
[ASK] bootloader version
hai guys, need info of moto z xt1650-03.
i've moto z 7.1.1 and BL 91.08.
i've already tried to reflash with version 6, but i've got the error for downgrade issue.
so i flash it back to its original.
so much work to do this, coz i've been very hard bricked for downgrading it.
the question is, is it possible to downgrade BL 91.08 to other version ?
i think that if i can downgrade it, it can flash the old version like MM or N 7.0
many thanks.
