It was working fine before I went to bed last night, then I let it charge for the night since that battery was at about 4%, But this morning it won't turn on at all. The battery feels warm as if its been charging but nothing seems to be making it turn on. Any ideas?

If it was my phone here is what I would do.
First I would see if the phone charges the battery by putting the battery into
the phone and plug the usb cable from phone into the wall charger or into
the computer.
If the display on phone shows a picture of a battery charging let it charge
for an hour more or less and try turning on the phone.
If the phone is not charging the battery I would purchase a cheapy battery
charger and battery combo on eBay.
You can find this combo on eBay for less than $8 bucks shipped for both the battery and charger:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/1800m-BATTE...045605?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item43aa9a4465
(even if you decide to return and exchange the phone its still a good thing to have a spare battery and charger)
Check it out.
Good Luck!

are you on cm7? not sure about the s2 (never had the issue), but i know that on the infuse, there was a problem (or maybe it was intentional) with low power charging mode (phone wouldn't charge when off).
i think this can be solved by trying to charge the phone via your computer usb, as opposed to your OEM wall charger.
Thanks for the suggestion. It definitely isn't showing the picture of the battery when its plugged in to the wall or the computer. I'm debating the battery charger combo you linked.
I actually am. But I have it plugged to my computer and nothings changed.
Time for some trouble shooting.
Start eliminating possibilities. You need to determine where the problem is.
From what you say, it seems possible that the battery is completely discharged but not recharging. That could be a bad battery or it could be the phone.
If you know someone else with an SGS II, try inserting their battery temporarily to see if your phone will boot. If you don't know someone else, maybe you can borrow a charged battery from the store where you bought it.
Continue on until you pinpoint the problem.
Do NOT buy a "cheapie" battery for your SGS2. Unless you want to eisk causing damage. The stock battery for the SGS2 has NFC technology built into it. Using anything other than OEM could cause damage/performance issues to your phone, and void the warranty.

Have goh tried a battery pull? Unplug the phone, pull the battery and let sit for a few minutes to allow tbe IC's to discharge. Put battery back in and try powering up the device. Good luck.

Similar issue and got phone fixed finally
Have had similar issue as yours. Cable charger was plugged into the phone to be charged at night and was surprised to find that the phone became hot and battery was not charged at the next morning, in fact the battery level got lower than it was before charging.
Notes:
- ROM in use: AOCP version 7.2 (Android 4.4.2)
- Kernel in use: Version 3.0.101 [email protected] #3
Here are some tests done and the observations after getting a charger with a slot to place the removed battery for charging:
1. Charging via USB cable connected to PC:
- With the phone turned on, battery charging icon is only displayed after some wiggling at the charging port. The phone got charged further to 100% when the initial remaining battery level is 90%. However, when the initial battery level was less than 50%, the battery level continued dropping ALTHOUGH the battery charging icon was displayed.
- With the phone turned off, battery charging icon is only displayed after some wiggling at the charging port. When the initial battery level was less than 50%, the battery charging icon displayed only a battery level of 1% and the battery level did not increase at all after 15 minutes of charging.
Initially suspected that it was a dead battery issue and bought an i9100 battery, I thought it was a compatible battery at first. With the i9100 battery, I repeated the above tests.
- With the phone turned off, battery charging icon is NOT displayed but the phone screen flashed continuously, and at times the phone is turned on automatically as the USB charging port is inserted. When the phone is turned on, the charging proceeded as the above sentence.
Upon searching the forum, I found that i777 has a different battery with NFC chip and i9100 battery has reported to cause issues during charging on i777 devices. There was also a Chinese forum which mentioned that the battery compatibility issues should have been overcome in ROM with Android version 4.0 and above.
I then bought a new i777 compatible battery and tested charging via USB cable. The observations are same as the first battery as at 1.
With the battery issues possibility eliminated, I approached a phone technician to examine the phone by telling him that the phone couldn't be charged and the battery level continued dropping even with the battery charging icon displayed. The phone technician then thought that the USB charging port to be the cause of the charging issue and replaced it. The replaced part is the small metal housing where the USB cable is inserted, and is replaced by heating the old metal housing and replacing it with new part by soldering.
The phone could be charged with USB cable as usual after the part replacement and all the batteries are found to be still working fine. Ended up with 2 i777 batteries and a i9100 battery, may be I could continue using this phone for at least another 5 years down the road.
hi to all,
I got an Xperia Tablet Z recently.
I found that my battery drains normally, but it charges as slow as hell. What happened?
I'm using the EP850 charger and the official SONY data transfer cable. Last night it was 10%, I made it charging at night. After 4 hours, I found it was 12%
Something's wrong with your tablet or your charger.
Mine is EP880 and the tablet has been charged after 4-5 hours
EP850 should charge it from 0-100% is around 6 hours (if the Tablet isn't used). There is defiantly something wrong with either the charger, cable and/or your Tablet.
I've the same problem. Even while charging if I am surfing via WiFi then sometimes battery percent decreases. And tablet takes almost 4 hours to charge more than 50 %.
Using IPad 2 3G charger helps!! It's like 60% faster
I noticed that if the tablet is switched off and charging, it takes forever (10hours - only 50% charge), but when it is switched on but with no activity (e.g. in craddle) it charges noticeably faster (10-hours - 100%). So as far as i understood, while it is off it restricts charging current to 500mA, and on it uses full power from the charger. Also it was mentioned earlier that ipad or samsung (high current) charger will charge your tablet faster than a stock one.

+1 to this.
I use an iPad charger for my Tablet Z and it is quicker (as it should be, iPad charger =2A , supplied Sony charger = 1.5A).
I charge the tablet like 3hrs ago, around 5 and 6pm, and its still in 40% ang then suddenly it drops to 39% (still plugged in and charging).
Im just surfing the web and some facebook, most of the time surfing the web. And i keep on killing task (manual kill).
Is my battery already broken?

What do you use to charge?
Big screens need a lot of juice and XTZ is bigger than most.
A PC USB port supplies usually 0.5A, while Sony's charger is 2A... Both can be insufficient to charge the device while in use, but the wall charger might manage it if you only use WiFi + display...but not really sure.
For comparision some tablets even refuse to charge at all from weak sources, like phone charger or PC - the iPad.
Unfortunate Sony doesn't tell if the juice is enough.
I can see you used it most of the time you charged it and the WiFi - is it Facebook the app that's using it so much?
FYI car charger is weak as well usually - 1, 1.5 amps

The Sony charger I have is 1.5 A (UK version). There were lot of comments about slow charging etc and about how a 2A charger charges the XTZ quicker. I installed an app from the play store called "Battery Monitor Widget". I used it to record just the current drawn. I used the Sony Charger and also another 2A charger at various times, the current drawn does not show any higher than 1.1 Amps with either one even while it is in use. So I don't know if the 2A charger really makes a difference. I only charged from 70% to 100% and back. I will check lower values a bit later and post results. However what I did notice was if I use a long cable (to test - longer than 1.5m), then the charging current drops. Use a short cable, or Sony's own cable, the current goes back up suggesting the XTZ port really monitor the charge port.. The Charging current almost always started off with 500 mA +, which is probably why the PC USB port could not charge it; I say probably because the PC I have is quite old and has only USB 2. Anyways, maybe installing the app and keep it running in the background may give you some indications of the charging current drawn..It actually creates a timestamped log file which you can analyse later as well..
In the tool there are options for calibrating the battery etc, but I have not used it, and I do not know how it works and if it works in XTZ. I just monitored the charging current.
I did a test by draining the battery to 26%. Then when I start charging, the charging current is shown as ~850 mA. This is with Wifi on, and screen brightness set to Auto. Then when I increase the screen brightness to max, guess what, the charging current is either 0 or shown as discharging, which means the battery won't charge. Brightness set to Auto or low, causes the charging current to go upto 850 and the % charge also increases. Given that the charger is capable of 1.5A and I have seen on occasion 1.1 A being recorded, I am not sure why it charges at constant ~850mA. Possibly due to differences in voltages. This is with Sony Charger (1.5A)
I tried it with a 2A charger, and when the screen brightness is set to max, the charging still takes place although at a very low 100mA. And normal charging shows a current of ~950mA. Which is probably why some people noticed faster charging with a 2A charger as opposed to the Sony supplied one.
In short, if you want to get the tablet to charge properly using Sony Charger, try keeping the screen brightness to low or screen off.
I must qualify the above by saying I am not an expert in chargers.. Just putting down something I noticed..

Well, i charge it with the one that came with the XTZ so its the normal charger.
Usually i charge it overnight before i sleep and turned off it just happened that i charged it early and screen is the one eating so much for about 55% next is android os and others are below 10%.
Actually im thinking before it happened i installed some games but as i said others are below 10% so im fine with it
Also im thinking about the current, because when i got my XTZ im in my aunts home and whether i charge it turned off or on it charges fast and when i got back on my apartment then charging becomes slow..

For all charge you use simply the Sony cable (quite short idd) and their own cable?
I haven't monitored with the app, but I belive the 2a charger I used charges faster. Mind you I,ve never used the XTZ while charging, I spoke from expirience with other tablets.
PS: If you use the cradle you might want to check my other topic - I had issues XTZ refusing to charge when low batt and 2A charger...

Charged mine for a while this morning in the Sony dock with power on, wifi on, screen off. Like others, I use an iPad charger (2.1A).
The battery went from 11% to 55% in about 2 hours, so about 22% per hour - though I think it slows down as the % gets higher.
I love my Mega. It is by far the best phone Ive ever had. But, the problems I have with the power usage and management on the device are a total nightmare.
1) The discharging nightmare:
The battery lasts NOTHING. Basically I get about 5 hours of use.. maximum.. no matter what I do.. and I have slimmed down to the ROM to having that NOTHING active.. I literally am left with active 6 services and I monitor CPU usage that is always near zero with NO apps hogging resources. From what I monitor on the device's battery usage, it's clearly always about 90% from the display! And yes, I dim the screen as much as I can of course, but usually not below 1/2way.. I hate screens too dim. However even just on standby with the screen off I still lose about 5% to 8% of battery an hour. Worse, even with the device Powered OFF, I still lose about 20% of battery a day. The ONLY way I have found out to control battery drain completely, is to take the battery out. That's it. Anyone else with similar symptoms and a fix or, is just that the stock battery totally sucks??? Also, any other off brand batteries are any better?.. (not the fat ones rated at much higher amps but that have an extra bulge.. that I don’t want)..
2) The charging nightmare:
This to me is the worse problem. It is bad enough how quickly this device issues battery, bit not nearly as bad as trying to charge efficiently again. I now have tried 3 different chargers/brands (and cables) to try fix the charging problem that is, it takes HOURS and HOURS to charge the battery. I am talking 5 to 6 hours to get it charged and if the screen is on and Im using the device it actually charges NOTHING at all and still keeps discharging (albeit much slower of course)... the fact is that the charging process is so pathetically slow that is less than real-time which means, with the device connected to power supply, the battery STILL drains if I try use it. This is absurd. However, mysteriously enough I have found ONE way that charges the phone super fast.. using a SONY External Power Pack (model CP-F1L) rated at 2200mAh. This is seems crazy because the power output of an external power pack should be much lower than the stock (and other Samsung) USB chargers.. but, it's what works.. the ONLY thing that works. And I have noticed that when connected to a USB Power charger, the Mega's Red LED light turn on faded.. however, when connected to the SONY External Power Pack, is bright red. Clearly more juice going in.. or something like that. Again, anyone else with similar symptoms and a fix the charging time, or, any good recommendation on a extra strong USB power adapter/charger that will make this thing at least charge faster?
Thanks in advance for the input and advice:silly:
Sounds like something is not letting your phone sleep or the battery is defective. Try putting CPU spy on it and let it set for a while. Then check to see if it is getting into deep sleep or if it is even stuck at a certain frequency.
There is an app on the playstore called Galaxy charging. Try it to see what rate it is charging. Though with the rate your phone discharges, the charger may only being supplying an amount just over the drain rate which is why it takes so long to charge.

Yep, something wrong there. I'm stock and this thing won't quit :good:
I would flash the stock rom back into your phone and see how the battery works then as this not normal as mentioned by other members as I am still on the stock rom but rooted only and I have great battery life.
That is were to start by flashing the stock rom and if no change then battery or maybe a hardware problem.
Did you have good battery life before you starting flashing with the phone or did this occur after the stock rom was removed and custom rom with stuff removed to gain performance?

You could try to remove the battery from the phone for about 5 secs and re-install and see it that helps as sometimes if you take the charger off as soon as it is done charging it might not show 100% at times when booting as I leave mine on for a bit longer and it seems to help..even though charge light is green..I leave it longer on.
If your phone is rooted get a app called battery calibrator from the google store as it is free and install it and just before you shut down the phone to charge wipe the battery stats with this app and then shutdown phone and fully charge and then see how the battery works after the battery stats wipe as that can usually help.

Thanks for the tip. Installed the app you recommend, now I understand better. With the stock Samsung USB charger I get 420 readings. With the other 2 chargers I get 500 and 540. However, with the Sony External Power Pack I get 1900!..no wonder it charges super fast with it! My question now is what's up with all the USB chargers I have? I even tried my old Galaxy Tab 7 charger (strongest rated charger I have) and still only feeds 480. This is all so bizarre. So, where to get a super strong charger for the Mega?
(sorry.. by whatever reason my reply got posted 4 times.. so strange. I try delete the first three but cant)..

Usually when this happens there is something wrong with the USB cable not necessarily the charger. Is the sony cable a USB type cable or a hard wired one? If it is USB type try using it with the other chargers and see what your results are.

Yes indeed I notice the Sony Power Pack cable is short and thick. The Samsung cable is long and thin. I get much higher charging power using the thick short cable. Maybe I need go shop for a proper longer/thicker cable.

I've certainly found the USB cable makes a big difference to the charging speed. I got a couple of 2m cables off Ebay and they're hopelessly slow, but the stock Samsung cable is fast. I just wish it was a bit longer!
I have the same issue
I have the Sprint Mega. Not refurbished and original factory state but I have horrific charge/discharge issues. Right now, my phone just got to 100% charge which I then unplugged the charge cable. Within 5 mins, I went from 100% to 96% and it is losing battery even quicker.
VeEuzUKY: It's been a while but do you still have this phone? Any updates? I should prob invest in a thicker USB cable like you've describe. It has the most charge rate.
I got my mega 6.3 last week. Since then it has said 100% charged... even when charging or dead. So I got a new battery thinking it was the battery but its obviously not and im not sure what it is that could be the problem. Im not sure if its crucial for my phone, if it can be fixed easily and cheaply, or if I need to return my phone to the place I bought it from.
Bought this tablet yesterday after finding it for a €50 discount and reading some reviews. The reviews warned that the charger is a but underpowered, and they weren't kidding, after 15 minutes of being plugged it I've only seen it go up 3-4%. Worse yet, if I try to actively use the device (just some browsing, nothing intensive), the charger can't keep up at all and the battery charge starts dropping again, slowly.
I'm quite happy with this tablet, it's got a nice feature set, good performance, decent price; I don't want to return it. But not being able to use the device when the charge gets low is a bit of a deal breaker. So I'm left wondering.. is there a way to charge it quicker? Would a 3rd party charger with higher amp output work? Or doesn't it work that way?
be sure being charging with original charger and usb cable
I was having same issue during the first month with this device, i was charging it with another usb cable (much longer) else than the OEM one, My device took 10 to 12 hours to do a full charge, very annoying thing. After some thinking and asking other ppl about this issue, tried to charge xtz with the charger and usb cable included in the Box and voila, not only the charging time has reduced to no more than 3 hours, right now i can use the Tablet without no intensive power requierements (wifi browsing with minimun screen intensity) and can see how the charging state increase during use... Hope this can help u.
Thanks for the reply! Sadly I'm currently already using the standard USB cable and charger that came with it, but maybe my cable is just fault or something. As far as charging rate goes, 3 hours sounds like what I'm getting, so maybe my expectations are a bit high in that regard. On the other hand it seems like I should be able to at least use the device when it's plugged into the charger without running out of battery charge (even if much slower). Almost seems like it's just being drained abnormally fast, but according to the battery usage thing, ~90% is used by my display which I guess is normal
