I have no problems getting notifications from 'Outlook', 'Gmail' and 'Tapatalk' when connected to wifi, but when I connect to mobile data nothing happens.
Any idea if I need to change any settings to get this to work?
Thanks
Have you turned mobile data on?

Yes, I've turned mobile data on.
When I click on the 'Outlook' app it shows that there are new emails, but I don't get the notification to tell me this?

Hi guys,
Do you know if AT&T automatically prefers WiFi over 4G? If not, is there a way to set it so that I can save on my 2GB limit imposed by ATT? thanks

Set WiFi sleep policy to "never" - then the only things that will use cell data when you are connected to an access point are market checkins (but not market downloads) and MMS. Maybe not even MMS.
Note that the phone won't automatically connect to open APs that you haven't connected to before.
If you have wifi sleep policy set to "when screen is off", background data will be over the cell connection.

Sorry but I can't find this setting. I'm looking in power saving settings and the only thing i see is turn off wifi when NOT connected with mobile AP. Does mobile access point mean wifi or cell data?
Settings>Wireless and network>Wifi settings hit menu and select Advanced

thanks,
just checked and its set to never.
I think you want to control access of data retrieval via cell network, right?
what I did was set the receiver options to airplane mode and then only enable the WiFi. That keeps the cell net from connecting. Also d/l an app to monitor your usage for piece of mind.

With APN On/Off, it's a free app. I turn off the data and can still do everything else. It even has an option to keep MMS enabled

It will disable the network connection, not the radio. This will still save battery.

Hey everyone!
So i was just wondering, does anyone elses phone display 2g/4g/lte on the status bar even when they have their mobile data turned off? I'm not sure if something is wrong with my phone.. All of my previous android phones would not display any mobile data connections when it was turned off. As of right now, wifi is turned on but mobile data is not and it still shows 2g (from my house) on the status bar. Thanks for answering!
Do you have mobile data turned off? Or do you just mean that it should be because wi-fi is on? If mobile data is off I've never seen it stay on for more than a few seconds. But I have seen it turn on when wi-fi is also on for mms or something.

My mother in law got an ATT Alpha and tried to connect to wifi. It will connect and immediately say wifi turned off. When you disable mobile data it enables wifi. That makes no sense... why would the phone favor mobile data.
How can we correct this? I have owned 5 Samsung devices and never seen this.

Beacuse the phone has a Smart network switch feature. You can turn off in the wifi menu.

We turned that off and it still didnt work. we then turned it back on and it didnt correct the issue either. Is a restart needed when you do or something?
Kinda odd that in a home with nearly no data signal from the provider (they use femtocell) that it would prefer the mobile data network over the wifi.
apparently a reboot was needed. thx!
Hello,
I'm using the Docomo L-51A version
So, most of the times when I turn on mobile data, it doesn't turn on. It toggles but doesn't show any 4G icon or connect to internet.
But if I then turn on and of aeroplane mode the mobile data starts working,
Anyone else facing the issue? Any solution?
