newbee needs help updating ROM - LeEco Le Max 2 Questions & Answers

Just got my Le X829 last week and found out the EUI version is 5.8.016S. I've been trying to update to 019S. I've downloaded the file from http://forum.le.com/in/eui_detail.html?euiid=209 , and followed the instruction of but unable to find the SYSTEM UPDATE on my phone menu.
Just wondering what did I do wrong?

Rename the downloaded file to update.zip and put it to the root directory. Then power off the device. When off, keep the Vol up button pressed and then press the Power button to enter recovery. Once you see "RECOVERY" on the screen, release the two buttons. In Recovery, click Start update. The recovery will search for update.zip and will start to change the ROM to 019s.
Good luck!

Well, you don't have to root to install TWRP. Seems like this will be the way as stock recovery won't do the trick.
Install TWRP and then install the 019s.
When the ROM has finished installation, reboot in recovery and before reboot back to system, allow disable custom recovery. This way you are completely stock and you can receive OTA updates.

Cant access bootlaoder...

hi there,
just got a gtab and wanted to install a custom ROM.
i am trying to go into bootloader, by pressing power and volume up keys and letting go when i see 'recovery key detected' but when i do that a second line shows 'bootig recovery kernal image' and it stay just like that. it does not actually go into menu system and it just stays there !!!!
the tabet loads jsut fine if i dont want to go into bootloader.
what am i doing wrong here pls ?
I believe you are referring to the "recovery" not the "bootloader"... completely different!!!
Anyhow, if you have a stock G-tablet... the stock recovery has no "menu"... the menu in the recovery is present in only the 1.2 based stock ROM... or if you installed CWM...
You need to copy the zip, re-named as "updated.zip", to the internal SD and create a folder named "recovery" with the recovery command in a file named "command"... look though the forum for examples and info...
hi and thanks. yes, i got a little confussed with the terminology !
i see that i have a TapUI version 1.2-4349 which according to you i should be able to see the menu right ?
shall i downgrade to 1.1-3588 as i would like to install custom roms anyways ?
thanks.
If you want any custom roms or kernels you need to remove the locked bootloader by using gojimis tool or nvflash.

i'm having the same results.
i've followed the instructions to a 'T' and read through all the pertinent sticky threads.
i'm currently trying to downgrade from 4349 via these instructions: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1036956
confirmed that i am on 4349
downloaded the linked file.
renamed it to 'update.zip'
created a recovery folder containing a command file pointing to the update.zip (actual text is: --update_package=SDCARD:/update.zip)
loaded both the folder>command and .zip file in /sdcard
held Vol+ and Pwr
then i get stuck on the viewsonic birds screen with the two messages indicated by OP.
any guidance would be appreciated.

KIW-L24 stuck in boot loop?

Hello,
I installed the beta cyanogenmod 13.0 for my Honor 5x about a month ago. I saw that recently a version was released with the fingerprint sensor functionality, but it required you to go back to stock and update to emui 4/MM. So, put the dload folder for the Emui 4.0 stock on my sdcard card, booted into bootloader, and flashed the old recovery. Now, when I boot my phone, it is stuck on the splash screen. I can go back into the bootloader and use fastboot commands, but nothing else. Help?
Edit: I tried flashing all of the recoveries for the KIW-L24, none changed anything, except the newest one caused the splash screen to go away after a few seconds, and a blue LED to appear.

I have done that but my phone continues to stay on the honor splash screen. I can only go into the fastboot/rescue mode by holding volume down and power.
I tried the steps on this post, but it changed nothing: http://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-5x/help/bricked-honor-5x-t3328308/post65659088#post65659088

flashing the partitions with fastboot is not needed with your phone.
The dload/update.app works, just be patient and follow the instructions I posted.
If you need to restore to Stock B151 use this TWRP backup >> https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24588232905720643
You also need this version of TWRP to restore it >> https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24545070682210514
Fastboot flash TWRP
in TWRP go to backup and check only boot.img > make the backup
now extract the b151 backup to your PC and copy it to the phone
their will be a directory named TWRP/BACKUPS/yourserialnumber/put the backup here
Now in TWRP choose Restore choose the backup you just copied over and be sure all the boxes are checked for restore
swipe to restore
be sure B331 dload/update.app are on the sdcard
In TWRP choose Reboot / Power Off
unplug the usb
hold power + volume up + volume down
when you see the first honor screen let go of power and hold the volume buttons till the update starts (be patient it takes a while)
EMUI recovery will load and do the update when it reboots your done
I had the same issue in the same scenario you described. It happened to me because my SD card was almost full. I'm guessing the Update file has to decompress and there was inadequate space available to complete the operation. When I switched to a clean SD card to run the update, it completed successfully. Hope this helps you!
I also had similiar issue, however the latest recovery from Huawei stopped at 5% and didn't complete. I flashed the recovery from B151 and ran the update again from the SD card and it worked.
remember you need spare space on the device for the update process! Keep around a gig free on whatever storage device you use for the procedure (internal or external SD)

Download the latest firmware for your phone, extract it to get update.app, use Huawei update extractor to extract stock recovery.img from update.app
Flash recovery.img in bootloader mode(the same way you flashed twrp).
Copy update.app to a folder named dload in your SD card. Turn off the phone and press and hold power, Vol up, Vol down until a reboot. Let go of power after reboot but keep other two pressed for five, six sec more.
Still Failing

Yep, it should work. But best way is to install official firmware yourself. It's not so difficult as you are already familiar with flashing images.

Power + vol up always takes you to recovery, right now you have twrp recovery so you are booting into it.
If you flash stock recovery then it will take you to stock recovery.
Best method is as I said, flash stock recovery, update using three button method.
Flashing a twrp backup is a solution but not the first recommended one.

ok i managed to take it back to stock rom after using a twrp backup i downloaded here...Thank you very much for your help
First copy the dload to your memory card with update.app. Then Flush Stock recovery and power off or reboot while pressing both volume button.
The installing automatically starts. I have done this 3-4 times.
---------- Post added at 08:16 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:13 PM ----------
while porting CM13, I got message Patching system image unconditionally while installing.
And Phone stuck in the boot loop of CM13 logo and restarts every time.
I have installed CM13 previously, it worked fine. But now I am unable to port it.

@[email protected] This doesn't always work! I am a veteran at flashing phones. New to the Honor 5X, but I have done my fair share of flashing to understand what is happening a little bit behind the scenes. I flashed Cosmic OS but decided to return to stock for the camera app. Like an idiot, I did not make a TWRP backup of my stock image. I flashed stock recovery and tried to Force Update the B331 UPDATE.APP and it hangs at 5% just like another user here. Going to restore a TWRP backup to see if that is more successful for my situation.
Set sdcard as default storage
hello,
I have tried almost all the methods told in the conversation but i could not install the stock ROM.
I always shows software Update fail and forces to power down the phone . My phone is Honor 5X KIW-L22
Please help me on this Issue.
I have also tried to install the ROMs But it stucks after the initial Loading.

Guide to rollback huawei p10 from oreo to nougat

Hi,(I am spanish sorry about my english)
after a long time searching how to rollback finally I have found the way thanking to this thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/p10/how-to/success-downgrade-oreo-to-nougat-t3729659.
In the thread the way to rollback isn't very extended explained so i decided to create mine and explain easy.
My phone is a Huawei P10 L29c432B.... .
Steps:
1- Download HWOTA8 from--https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B2D9GdWntw69U3N2aDEzZjY2S1E/view
2-Download Firmare L29C900B217 or L09C900B217 depending your model (only are 2 downloads) fromhttp://pro-teammt.ru/firmware-database/?firmware_model=VTR-L29c900&firmware_page=0
3-Delete the row "echo - - update_package...... update_data public. zip..." from the file "META-INF>com>google>android>update-binary" from hwota8_update.zip from the downloaded folder HWOTA8.
4. Create HWOTA8 folder and copy the following files: hwota8_update and MHA_RECOVERY8_NoCheck.img (from HWOTA8 folder), and the downloaded firmware files. After copu the firmware files you have to rename them one has to be named "update.zip" and the other one "update_all_hw.zip" (don't write.zip extension).
5- Now you have to rewrite the recovery with twrp, for that you have to go to fastbood (VOL- and Power) mode and connect to the pc. Then go to Uncompresed HWOTA8 folder and run "Replace_Recovery.bat" after that you will have the recovery TWRP installed.
6- Finally you have to to go to recovery pressing VOL+ and power button then go to Install adn search sd_external and inside HWOTA8 folder from sd card install "hwota8_update.zip". The device will resboot and start installing the nougat rom, but after that you will have to rebrand to L29c432.... to unlock all the functions.
That's all now you will have your device rollbacked from Oreo to Nougat.
Hi!
Thx for this guid, it seems to be clearly and good to understand! I have only one problem: i can not find the row "echo - - update_package...... update_data public. zip..." from the file "META-INF>com>google>android>update-binary" from hwota8_update.zip from the downloaded folder HWOTA8 for changing... ???
I tried with notepad++, but i can not do this... How did you get this step working?
Thx a lot!

You have to unzip the hwota8_update.zip file into another location, edit the extracted update_binary file and then repack the zip. The update_binary file in HWOTA8_<date>.zip is a binary file and shouldn't be edited with a text editor.

The fact is that the recovery proccess is a **** in this model. Try to power completely off the phone and the Pess POWER + VOL+ when you feel the phone vibrates retire the press of power button and still pressing VOL+ button by this way sometime it goes ok. If TWRP load go ahead with the followings steps.
Other way it to reinstall again TWRP untill it loads.
Let me know if you suceed, good luck.

Good day! Can I use this method for installing Official Oreo from Beta? What I would like to do, is skip the deleting of row then just flash the twrp and continue with installation process.
I'm on VTR-L29C636B361.
I would like to rollback to Nougat, for root reasons. I'm trying to follow this method, but I'm not able to find the right files. All I succeded to find is the "update.zip", from Firmware Finder website, but no signs regarding others mentioned ("update_all_hw.zip"). Where can I dowload the right files?
Moreover: I flashed TWRP 3.2.1. I would like to go back on stock recovery, but again I'm facing a lot of problems. I would like to extract from update.app I have (from "update.zip" above mentioned), but HuaweiUpdateExtractor gives me a lot of error. Any help?
Thanks!

At the HWFF website the link leads you to you need to click the "filelist" (not only the "update"), that will give you links to all the files needed.
For the rest I am not sure, would also like to get back to the stock recovery but so far found no way to do so...

Hi, I have one question
Your phone was VTR-L29 C432 and you used the firmware of VTR-L29 C900, so can I use the C900 in any version to rollback and after that, what would be my version? C432 or C900?
I'm asking because for some reason I have VTR-L09 8.0.0.046(04VT) and I want to rollback, then rebrand and finally upgrade to VTR-L29 C432 with a custom kernel.
Thanks a lot!

hello, I test by cons I have a problem, once flash hwota8_update.zip, it tries to restart in recovery and redémre on oreo, a solution?
Hello, I have a problem in the rocovery that I flash wota8_update.zip I have E: unknown command [errno]
Updater process ended with ERROR: 9
Error installing zip file '/external_sd/HWOTA8/update.zip
Maybe this is a silly question. Do we need to change the recovery file since MHA is a code name for MATE 9. P10 use VTR. Is it still usable?

please help i am in trouble with my samsung galaxy tab a7 recovery

hello, i want to root my samsung galaxy tab a7 sm-t500
with magisk
I patch the firmware file, I flash everything is fine, I would like to start in recovery but its not wanting, I tell myself that it does not matter I start, I choose the region, the tablet restarts and its brand only the binary officials are allowed to be flashed in red.
Apparently, it's because I haven't factory reset the tab.
Thank you in advance. Greeting
(sorry it's done with google tarduction I speak french)
I assume that you have unlocked the bootloader. There is a thread with a ported twrp for the t500, if there is a problem with your recovery you could try twrp to resove the issue. However when you are flashing the patche firmware you are using just the ap file correct? Possibly try finding the latest firmware and flash the ap file, the bl file, and the csc file in thier appropriate places on odin. Afterwards make sure it boots. Then try flashing just the patched recovery. on reboot you get to a menu that says push power to continue from there after hitting power hold both vol up and power button till it boots into recovery (if you install twrp you will need to first install another file to let you install it, the instructions and download are located in the original post located here (https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...laxy-tab-a7-10-4-2020-lineageos-18-1.4295985/) Good luck.
