My girlfriend has a problem with her LG Optimus One
When she holds the phone to her face in-call it hits speaker phone and mute almost every time.
Is there a way to lock the phone when in-call?
Is there a way to change the in-call display without root?
Would a new dialer fix this (will that work without root)?
Sorry if an answer to this has been posted before, I searched but did not find anything to solve this particular problem.

Weird..May be the proximity sensor is dead...Or may b ur GF might hv coverd it with a screen protector n thus nno sensor reaction..
No screen protector.
And it works when she first gets in-call...but after being in call for a bit held to her face it turns on speaker or mute or both.
Either the proximity sensor doesn't work, or your girlfriend holds the phone away from her ear so some light can pass.
Just received my replacement Galaxy S2 and I've noticed that the camera seems to focus and makes 2 short clicking sounds when the phone starts up and when I change from camera to video camera and vice versa. This didn't seem to occur on the handset that was replaced.
Is this common or is it a fault?
Well it does the same on mine... Not sure why this would make it faulty?
The clicking noise is actually the camera lens moving back and forth (calibrating?).
My phone on the latest camera firmware does that too - not sure if it did it before.
Just noticed that on mine too, and then found this thread. So, it seems to be normal. We hope so.
My s2 makes also this strange noise. But I nerver noticed this sound on my first s2 which got replaced. I can't immagine that I failed to hear it on my first s2 because it's quite loud. Don't know what to do now . Maybe other people can report if they hear /have this sound.
Mine makes that noise too. Didnt notice it before i read about it here
It's the autofocus. My Desire did that, and so did my Hero.
+1 same here
yes, I'm having the same clicking sounds - the problem is that the camera doesn't work at all...

What! does your camera work ? you got root ?
It's just the auto-focus.
the camera has never worked ever since I bought the damn thing, it just makes these clicking sounds - might be the autofocus - and the viewfinder is black
I've tried 3 or 4 different roms, changed the kernel a few times, got root... and nothing worked. Twice, after restart, I managed to take 2 pics but as soon as I change to video it all goes to hell
I made a video but I can't post it because I'm under 8 posts

yes mine does that too.I am from india.
If it helps
Mine clicks too, all works just fine tho!
Many cameras make a small click when turning on - hero did it too. It's likely an actuator calibration mechanism, to ensure the feedback system is working - wind full in and out, and self-check the sensor return values.

That's exactly what it does, you can see it if you look at the camera.
Mine clicks like crazy when using Tiny Flashlight + LED, Brightest Flashlight Free™ and a couple others I have tried. I mean CRAZY. Like a frog in a sock CRAZY.
It just continues to click. Sometimes it doesn't actually do it but 80% of the time it does
My camera clicks twice too when opening it or when switching to video mode. Clicks are not that loud and camera works perfectly, so i assumed it's normal, though some people say it's not. Wonder if camera does that on all S2 phones or is it related to rom versions or camera firmware ?
Completely silent XWKF3 and latest Camera firmware.
OK, that is not a real hardware clicking, it is not autofocus, it is not lens movement. It's the camera startup noise, and you can disable it by renaming the files:
/system/media/audio/ui/camera_click.ogg as camera_click.ogg.bak
/system/media/audio/ui/camera_click_short.ogg as camera_click_short.ogg.bak
You do need root for this.
Hello! I just bought a Galaxy S2 and it comes with the famous pink spot on camera, so i've decided to return and ask for a new one.... after receiving the new one... this one has the pink spot too! but i found how to solve that issue...
So, after some days with phone i found that the screen looks yellow tinted on the left side...
And yesterday i found that when you shake your phone to the front hardly... it makes a weird noise a "thick" like something is loose inside of the phone on the camera area... I've tried removing battery sim card and sd card and shaking the phone again! there is that noise...
is that normal? can some1 try it shake ur phone...
idk what to do... if ask for a new one... or send it to care center...
plz advise
Did you ever think that that sound might come from volume and power button? Try holding the buttons and shake again. Those buttons are neither screwed nor glued so a little noise is normal.
Mine also nakes a little sound but if I hold the buttons it stops. I have no problem with it.

This is a very rare scenario as most of the people(including me) dont have this problem.
If your phone is under warranty just ask for rma pointing out the problem.
if not then fix it via service center.
Have you tried shaking your phone front/rear side hardly? it sounds like something is loose inside... anyway i think im gonna ask for a rma

I have tried it, nothing as such.
Also did you try opening the battery panel and clean it with some vaccum cleaner?
I can reproduce this on my phone, but it requires special kind of move (like hammering) so I think everything is ok.
It's possible that this loose part is vibration motor (or something else used for vibration - I don't know construction details of SGS2), so it's designed to be loose in some directions

I wouldn't call it "rattling". It's just single sound during sharp front to rear move. So for me it's simple . We haven't bought rattles but phones, so let your new purchase to demonstrate the potential by using it like a phone.
I think it makes a camera. When you move backward and forward moves the camera lens and it can rattle ..

Hi same strange sound here:
i found that if you enable the camera, the sound stops.
So:
camera disabled -> tick sound shaking the phone
camera enabled -> no tick sound
So, it's obivious that it's a camera related issue, almost in my case.
My camera works well, but have the issues:
pink spot
framerate loss during low light filming (using -2 gain to sensor solves this)

I just got my HTC One and have two issues I'm hoping you guys can help me out with:
1- Whenever you play sound, it seems the next 2 seconds following there is a popping noise that comes from the speakers as if the speaker is turning off. In a quiet environment, and with the phone relatively close to your face (how I use it when in bed), after you play sound on your phone, do you hear a popping noise from the speaker about 2 seconds after? It's EXTREMELY annoying since the speakers face you.
2- Open up your settings app (with the white background) - do you notice any faint horizontal lines faded in the background? They look almost grey, and very faint. Let me know if your phone has these on white background or if my screen is defected.
The phone seems great, but these two things are kind of bugging me, especially the popping sound. Please let me know if you're experiencing these.
Thanks.

Doesn't happen on mine. What a bummer. Take a trip to an AT&T store and get them to replace it.

Probably not normal, you should try to exchange it.
I may have noticed some kind of movement when waking up the phone on white backgrounds. But I'm not sure, my vision sucks and the "movement" goes away.

1- I heard it, very very faint, but it's definitely there. It's only going to be a real problem if the black One® comes out in less than 30 days
2- Nope didn't see that.
yes, i also hear a popping sound
I think I read something about this on the international boards. I remember reading it was a software issue and will be fixed

Great! After reading this, now I cant unhear it. It is very faint, but there.
The same thing happened on my Motorola Bionic when it upgraded from GB to ICS. I can hear "shut off" sound with my headphones. The Bionic upgraded to JB recently and the sound is gone. So, the fix for the One is a software update. Not a deal breaker for me.

Hello.
I've been using my I9305 a while now with a 4.4 OMNIROM.
Everything was fine until I let my girlfriend borrow it to use the gps for a trip.
She returned it and I noticed the colors are strange. All the blacks went greyish, and gradient colors werent smooth but showed artifacts.
I thought it was a setting but after factory resetting/wiping everything/changing rom the phone still has strange colors, even the green boot android icon seems abit light.
Here are some screenshots showing the same pictures on my phone (the samsung) and a functional HTC. You can see the artifacts and the distorted blacks.
Code:
[img]imgur.com/BbUKzzN.jpg[/img]
[img]imgur.com/sAIiDnB.jpg[/img]
Is it possible she dropped it and damaged the screen/matrix?
Is it possible that some connector to the lcd/digitizer got slightly disconnected? (maybe i should try disassambling)
She used several apps (tomtom, navigon) that have nightmode (screen altering modes), maybe its stuck or damaged.
Please help

Seems like a hardware problem to me. I would try and watch lcd replacement videos to see if the screen is correctly plugged to the motherboard.
