Ok, so heres my problem. Ill try and be as specific as possible without acting like a crazy person, because i am at my wits end with this.
I bought this tablet cheap at a pawn shop. They said it was locked and they 100% could not contact the original owner of it. Me, being somewhat learned with android stuffs, said ok, i will reset it from the recovery menu, NO PROBLEM. yea right. Get home, reset it and now I am introduced to this new Google factory reset protection business.
Now I have researched all possible ways to bypass this. The #1 solution is to get into the settings menu and enable developer options and go from there. I have enabled developer options on every android i have ever owned. Somehow, with this p.o.s. tablet....it will not work. I have tried every which way to tap build number 1, 000 times and nothing. For some reason, I cant get it to work.
Another solution that i found was to download and sideload this app to bypass it for you. Technically, its for Samsung devices, but i tried it anywho. All good until i plug the tablet into my pc. The PC wont recongnize the stupid tablet.
I am asking EVERYONE and ANYONE. Is there some other way for me to get past this crap? It is a RCA Viking Pro 10" tablet Android version 6.0 Model Number-RCT6303W87M7
PLEASE HALP!
Thanks in advance peoples,
-Jess
Same exact tablet and problem too.
My neighbor got it at an auction and I've done the Wipe Data/Factory Reset and then the trick to get into settings but tapping on Build doesn't work. Someone mentioned that 4 long taps worked for them so I tried that too with no luck. Not sure what else to do but send the neighbor to a cellphone repair store but it's for his grandson so I wanted to help out. Any advice/instructions would be great.
Thanks,
Roger

I think I may have solved this problem. I also may have been the first to do this since I haven't found the answer anywhere else and I successfully accomplished it very easily actually after weeks of trying every available method out there. I hope this helps everyone. Let me know how it goes. Here goes: after getting to the page asking for the previous owners info, I hit the back button. I hit add network and typed in several random letters. I then long pressed those letters and clicked assist. I then clicked on gmail and was taken to the permissions and such page. I clicked on the 3 dots in the upper right and clicked manage apps. From there it took me to the settings page. Once in settings, I simply just added another user account and entered my current google information and went through all the steps. After I made it to the home screen I powered off the tablet and then restarted it. It asked for my info again and I entered my google information and it took me to the home screen after answering a few more questions. I then went to settings and deleted the user account I set up and that made me owner. I even did a complete reset and it no longer had the previous owners info. It only needed mine. FINALLY, I can use this tablet after weeks and frustration of trying to bypass this. Please let me know if this works for anyone. I may have left out something on accident if it doesn't. I'll redo it if I have to and possibly make a video if so. Thanks. I hope this does the trick. It would be nice to be the first at something for once if this is the case. Lol

Well, turns out this tablet is a RCT6603 with the last patch date being June 2016. It wouldn't let me enter a Google account - it would go straight to the screen where it said this tablet was reset and to enter the previous owner's account information. Google must have really patched that version tight as a drum...
Glad it's at least working for you though.

Mine was RTC6303 with an earlier date than yours , I used the 4 long presses to get into developers mode and it worked.... Russ
an old thread but figured id add a note in case anyone comes looking later :
go through setup, enter wifi and when it comes up asking for previous owners info, hit back till you get to wifi screen, click on 'add wifi' then hit a few random characters, click and hold on the characters and then select 'ASSIST'.
When new window opens up, type chrome and select the chrome app when it shows in the dropdown menu, download and install google account manager 6.0.1 apk, then download and install quick shortcut maker, open quick shortcut maker and then type 'google account manager' in search bar. click on this and then from the options that open, select the 1 that ends with 'loginactivity' and then select 'Try IT', from the new screen that opens up, click the 3 dots at top right of screen and select 'Browser Sign-in'. Log in with your Google credentials, once it goes back to the quick shortcut maker screen, use power button to restart tablet, proceed through setup as per normal and instead of going to the google login screen, itll come up stating that your new accounts are ready for use.
once you have went through setup fully, goto settings and factory reset the tablet, this will get the tablet to a 'brand new out of the box' state and remove those previous credentials from your legally purchased 2nd hand tablet
It worked!
Thank you your instructions worked perfectly.
Hi there! So happy to see that this post was updated!!
I found a bit of a quicker way to get through the FRP issue thanks to everyones comments.
1. Connect to wifi
2. Back out and click add new network. Type some letters and highlight, click on Assist.
3. In the search box start typing Settings and wait for the settings app to appear. Click that.
4. Go to Back up and Reset. Click Factory Reset which will delete the connected google account.
Thanks guys! Also plugging in a mouse made it way easier to zip through all the steps.
So I do everything that all of you have tried and it wont work. I got the tablet from my grandmother who passed away. I am getting more irritated with the device as I do not have the money to buy a new one. I do as everyone says to do however there is no assist button at all when I highlight everything.... help please.... Im pulling my hair out over this
I found the easiest way to get into settings, theres a button on the keyboard with the settings icon, press it and it takes you straight to the settings menu.

Hi,
I need helps related to an LG LTE2 F160L that I just receive as a gift from a very nice Korean friend. He just gave me that phone before he left Bali back to Korea. But, stupidly I don't even tried to use the phone before he left. So when I tried to activate the phone, well I couldn't do anything because the phone ask me, I guess, for a google account user name and the password. I'm not so sure because the phone was set in Korean languange and letters that I couldn't even understand it! When I push the back menu, the phone returns to the locked home screen and when I swipe it to unlock, it will take me back to that email password all over again, and it such a disaster that I don't even have his email adress! What a bad kind of a friend I am
What can I do over this situation? I never use an Android-flatformed smartphone before. I love this phone so much, even though I can't get into it yet, so far.
Just can't wait to explore this manly smartphone. So please help me to fix this problem. Any idea of you will be very, very appreciated.
Thank you very much and I'm so sorry so much for my bad english..
Thank you.
Note: I don't mind to lose all the data and back to factory setting as long as I would be able to use the phone. I have tried to hard reset it with buttons according to some website but nothing works! Help!

Hello, this may be outdated since your post was dated april 2013. I actually have this phone and would be glad to help you. If my understanding is correct, your problem is that you cannot explore the device because it is in korean language? my fox for this is to pull down the status bar from the homescreen and then you will see the icon for the setting. Just click that and the settings menu will appear. Once you are in the settings, scroll down and look for the icon with the letter "A". press that and a new menu will open, press the 1st menu on the top and then you find there the choices for language. look for english and press it. Hope this help! Good Luck with the phone, it is indeed a great phone. PM me if you already fix your problem. There will be more problems after that like the limit in SMS and some korean language that are still showing..
My phone started this problem 2 days back, the problem is, whenever there is an option to select 'ok' or 'cancel', like when you write the password and you hit 'ok', my 'ok' doesn't clicks, I mean I try touching it but it doesn't respond, the animation(gets dark when touched) also doesn't appear, firstly I thought it was touch problem, but the touch works fine otherwise. I try installing an app and can't select 'install', I try entering my pin and hit 'Ok' it doesn't work. Basically I can't select 'confirm' or 'ok' (right option apart from cancel) options when there is a choice. The problem is quite a small, but it's prior and stopping me from important things, I tried contacting the customer support, they asked me to reset my phone, I did it yesterday and the problem still continues. Please help me, I don't want to visit the service centre and submit my phone there for ages. I'm running MIUI 9 Global stable ROM.

Thank God I found this thread! This same thing happened to me the night of the 17th, but the message appeared and disappeared so quickly for me to see that I only caught a vague glimpse of the word "attacker $..." and could not be sure. I still tried searching online and posting in a forum but came up with nothing. And the weirdest thing is even though this is a download, it does not appear in the downloads folder! I haven't reset my phone yet, as I thought I might have been wrong somehow and it was the regular Instant Apps download or something. I had the premium version of ESET active on my phone at the time, monitoring all downloads and apps and this one didn't even appear there. None of the other scanners I later downloaded found anything either.
At least now I know I'm not going crazy and this indeed happened. I wonder if this had anything to do with the recent Facebook security breaches and server outages.
I am going to reset my phone too, just in case, take some backups tonight and reset. But @DarkCloudF you said the problem reappeared even after reset? Maybe it installed itself into the system so a factory reset did not remove it? If that is the case, then we got a whole new thing.
Please keep me updated here with your findings, I'm still using the phone as it is, I don't know how to go about this, if reset did not solve the problem, I will admit I'm not very tech savvy and this worries me to no end maybe I should just turn the phone off until I know more and reset.

Dear SeaMonster26
I did a reset and after i installed the facebook app the same thing happened again then i reinstalled the official firmware for my device using odin then updated all the apps but not facebook and kept monitoring my device for two or more hours and nothing happened then i updated facebook and waited more also nothing happened but after i signed into facebook using the facebookapp it happened again i sent a message to the facebook support but they didn't reply
The last thing i did was that i updated my device to the latest version of the official firmware (for me it's android 7.0) and updated the facebookapp then from the settings->apps->show system apps i disabled the facebook app manager and the facebook app installer
Then i signed into facebook using the app that was 2 days ago and untill now i didn't see that message again i'm not sure if the problem is gone this way but i think the manager or the installer are responsible for this
You can try disabling those two apps as i did after you reset your device and check if it reappears
I'm still trying to figure this out i hope this would help you
Best regards

I just updated Poco F1 with MIUI 10.1 using standard OTA update. After the update, it asked for my encryption password. When I enter it, it said password was correct, but data was corrupted, so I needed to reset the device (It only had reset button). I tapped the reset button.
After the reset, I was asked Mi Account password because the device was associated with a Mi Account. Fine. I connected with WiFi and logged in with Mi Account successfully.
Now, the setup began. During the setup process, it is asking for a numeric pin. The title of the screen says "Re-enter your password". What should I enter here? The keyboard that opens is a number pad, so I can't enter other characters. My previous device password was not fully numeric. My Mi account password is also not numeric. My Google account password is also not numeric. What should I enter here?
Have the same problem on mi mix 2s. Have you found the solution?
Just updated to phone over standard OTA, not rooted or unlocked or anything, but now it asks for a pattern password, instead of the PIN password it used to be... wasn't this **** tested before they push it to all the phones?
I wish I read this thread before doing update... >(
Evening I am facing the same
Did u guys find a solution?. Even I am struck at the same.
This also happens to me but not with this update version (I think it's 10.0.6) and it resets my phone including internal storage. Luckily I have a back up of everything in my PC. I'm new to MIUI so I still don't know the right way to flash/install updates without having to reset my phone
I think, at the moment, there's no quick fix for this. You'll need to wipe the data to make it work, or call Xiaomi customer care and check if they could help.
Also, if the data is ultra important, you can try all the passwords starting from 0000. Tedious job!. But again, you should talk to Xiaomi ppl if there are any limited chances for password trial.
There's an official channel for poco user and devs, you can also look for the solutions there. But as far I remember, ppl having this issue couldn't unlock the phone with the password. At last, put this issue on twitter and tag Jai Mani, so that their team can do the needful timely.

Found this bug in their bug tracker, exactly what happened.
en.miui.com/ thread-4914042-1-1.html (sorry, can not post links yet)
I agreed to the factory reset, since to have the phone is more important now. Could even encrypt it again (well, I have basically) nothing to lose - seems working. The most of data could be restored from other sources. The fact that I have to set(delete) all the great Xiaomi stuff once again is quite annoying. I learned something today, will be more wise next time - avoid updates without backup, and avoiding Xiaomi altogether. Was not expecting such crappy business from multi billion company.

I just put any password (totally random), the system accepted it but said that the data is corrupted. There was only one button, that said "factory reset"

Grace and glory! Inspired by other peculiar ways to bypass FRP, found my way through!!!
Follow the instructions:
1. On the screen of selecting WiFi network, select your network. Get connected.
2. Then hit "modify", and hit "change password" field.
3. Tap "show password" button, then type your phone number (or any other one).
4. Long tap and hit "call". A caller app is loaded.
5. Hit Save contact.
6. Tap the contact, then hit "share".
7. Choose Gmail app (note: adding Gmail account won't work from there, tried that).
8. Choose "Exchange". Type your email address (or any other one).
9. On the next screen (password selection), hit "select" to choose a certificate.
10. At this moment a device locking screen will be brought up. Change the lock to a PIN number.
!!!Voila!!!
11. Then go back to the beginning of the phone setup process and add Google account with no extra questions.
try with 1111,0000 or 1234
I worked with the last one

Just got hit with this bug. The phone was originally encrypted with pin. The latest update is now requiring a pattern. Cannot try the pin-to-pattern conversion since the pin has a 0.
Any solutions?

Thank God for you man. This worked like a charm.
Did this figure this out on your own and how long did it take you?
doe snot show the step on how to modify your password. i have been trying alot of things and still no luck
I have a stock VZW Galaxy S10 Plus purchased from Verizon, after an update to may Android security I noticed close to all my apps now had permissions to modify system, as well as many switches "Greyed out" and certain functions trying to force me to use WiFi. I have been dealing with it for over a month, in recovery the text at the top is displayed 2 times. And at the bottom it says Missing 2fs file... I have factory reset the phone more times than I can count, and with a root folder spy app I am able to see some folder that I am pretty sure should not be in a stock rom. (Lazy script) ... it was showing enterprise billing , and other things....
Things changed after using Verizon sw app connect to my PC. But I am sure the problem is still there.
T
I know **""this is not Possible """** is the standard response. Verizon was no help, Samsung sent me to **UBreak I fix** nothing changed. And the last option was to send it in to Samsung..... I want to know what/how it happened. I always have my phone with me. I am happy to share any screen captures, and I'm trying to post some screen recordings of me scrolling through the folders on my phone. I also have trace logs. But not even sure how to read it.
This is wrecking my life . More that the Covid shut down. .....
I want to find out how it was done, just replacing the phone will not satisfy me anymore.......
Oh, I also have 2 Sledge, And 2. Snote3.... that now look like they have problems......
I know this is the place to find the answer. Help me get to the. *Root * of the problem??? Lol.... please.
