So I left wifi on all night, no big deal, phone didn't drop that much. Then I turned it off around 7 or 8 am when I woke up. Didn't touch my phone at all. I came back to the phone and it didn't turn on. When I plugged it in, the orange light kept flashing. I got into recovery and I found out it's cause of my battery. When I was finally able to boot, I looked at the battery usage and thought that it was impossible. I had gone from 60% to 0% without using the phone over a period of maybe 2 hours.
Why?! That's impossible..
Should I be concerned? I bought this phone a couple days ago and I can take it back to sprint if necessary.
I'm trying out MeanBean v1.9 right now. Is this just a bug or do you think it's my actual battery?
maybe, does it say what drained the battery? maybe even try running a scan for malware.

Well no, it doesn't say. I just installed the rom last night. but I guess I can take a scan?
I lost 45% over night last night on meanbean with wifi on. I think its a bug in jellybean. I haven't had great battery since I've gone with JB....

How do I disable wake lock?
I tried to do an experiment last night and it happened again, only this time with the Stock w Goodies rom. I left my phone on most of the night without problem and turned the data off. Then I checked my phone once at around 7 am. Then I noticed the battery dropped 20 percent within a short period of time. Once I restarted, the problem seemed to fix, but I can't rely on myself to watch my battery monitor and restart when the issue occurs. Is there something I'm doing wrong? Should I take this phone back?
EDIT:
BetterBatteryStats screen shots:
Its not the rom, I get very little to no drain from Meanbean when my phone is in standby. I will take my phone off the charger at 7:00am and not put it back on till 11;30pm with moderate usage and 6 different email addresses syncing all day long and never go below 50% on my battery. There is definitely something going on with your phones setup that is sucking the battery. It looks like you are in a very low signal area which is the biggest user of battery. Your phone is constantly trying to find a better signal. Its looks like you were on a phone call for 8 hours with a wake lock searching for signal. Are you new to Sprint? You may have a real problem if your signal is this low in your house.

No I've had sprint for years and my phone has 5/6 bars right now..
I have the same experience as cruise350. I have almost no battery drain with MeanBean when the screen is off. As I type this I've had my phone off the charger for 2 hours and I had some light use and I'm still at 100%.
Follow evo401's advice and get betterbatterystats to find which app is causing this problem for you.
First and foremost I'm stock rooted and unlocked (bootloader). Got an Anker 6200 mah battery and recently cycled it for the first time with great results. Used the app battery calibration to wipe stats after charging to 100%. Unplugged the phone and turned on the tether. Noticed it went from 100% to 80% ridiculously fast. Opened up betterbatterystats and realized I had some wlan wakelocks and the top offender was mdm_hsic_mp0 kernel wakelock.
I've found a FEW references to this but not many and still not sure what exactly it is. Nothing unusual pops up in the dump log file. Sure I have a few sync partial wakes but nothing over 4 to 5 seconds. This mdm_hsic_mp0 has been kernel wakelocking for 2 hours. Now, I did turn on my hotspot tether during that time, but strange I never noticed this wakelock prior to this seemingly increased battery drain.
So my question to you all is, what is this wakelock. I've disabled almost all my syncs, no location services on, etc. Trying to eliminate every possible source and build my way back up.
I hate wakelocks about as much as I hate politicians.
Thanks for any help you can give me.
Okay left the phone on the charger all night and got her back up to 100%. Now checking BBS this mdm_hsic_pm0 wakelock is still happening. I have not used tether/hotspot what so ever and wifi is off. However I have noticed that when I go to the stock battery stats screen w/in android settings it appears my data is shutting off. Almost like a fast dormancy is taking place to conserve battery. I didn't think Verizon supported fast dormancy. But I do not see any references of "fast dormancy" in BBS.
Any ideas?
I used to have that issue on an old version of cleanrom... I turned off multi windows and that seemed to help it... Not sure if that is it though... Could be a coincidence

Thank you for your input.
Installed Beans build 8 and have it (the wakelock) but I've got it figured out and now it's not wakelocking when nothing is going on. Prior to flashing Beans rom however it was still wakelocking w/out what I think is the cause.
It's for the verizon mobile hotspot app. I timed how long I had it on and roughly was the same amount of time that the wakelock was occuring. Phone has no problems going into deep sleep as it's been in deep sleep for 9 hours on this cycle. So I'm content w/ what's happening now.
Battery Drain on Optimus G
Hi, I am writing to get xda members' opinion about the alarming battery drain on my Optimus G. The major culprit seems the Android OS with different wakelocks contributing to the problem.
1. suspend_backoff is the biggest actor here, keeping phone awake for up to 40 mins in the 3 hours of wake time, I have tried multiple wifi options from within the settings but no benefits really. My phone now has a static ip at home and most of the time placed in the same room as the router. Being on the same network, there are times that the suspend_backoff does not come in to picture at all.
2. alarm_rtc too is playing its important role in the battery drain, last I checked it was at 32 mins.
3. msm_hsic_host: At 16m, but that's also because I kept the data off most of the time, however the moment I am on data "on", it starts eating up a lot of battery. One of the possible explanations for this may be that I can only access the WCDMA/3g networks while the phones has the 4g radios too.
4. sns_periodic_wakelock too has lot of wake time, the current screenshots may not explain it but there are times when its the topmost contributor to the wakelocks.
Additional Info:
1. Some charge cycles, the phones shows zero deep sleep, last night the phone was charged to 100 at about 8pm, it came down to 40 this morning around 10am, with a period of no use between 2 am - 7 am. there was absolutely zero deep sleep. Is a no deep sleep a cause of concern?
2. Yesterday, I cleared the dalvik cache and rebooted the phone and it only lost 2-4 percent in a 8 hour period, with no suspend_backoff wakelocks and even the overall android os consumption was very less. However, this changed in the new charge cycle.
3. The phone is currently rooted using framaroot and unlocked bootloader using freegee, before the unlock operation of bootloader, I did see a 4hours plus of screen time with about 25% battery still left. Soon after the unlock, I also installed Snapddragon Battery Guru. It is after the 2 events -> Unlock bootloader and Snapdragon Battery Guru that I started seeing a decline in battery use. I have since removed the Snapdragon app (after its 2 day learning period) but without any benefits. The screen time is now around 2 hours plus.
4. I have also put to freeze some of the other usual suspects like facebook, switched off google now and location services. Though this does defeat the purpose of having a smart phone entirely. I have also frozen some of the AT&T bloatware
Questions:
1. Could the unlocked bootloader have any say in the kernel wakelocks?
2. If I do the factory reset from within settings on the phone, am I likely to run in to any errors due to the bootloader being unlocked?
3. What are my other options in preventing the wakelocks from eating too much of battery.
I have attached the screenshots from current observations
Just noticed a crazy amount of wakeup triggers by the phone process
, anyone have an idea about what could be the deal here?

Well i just got the LG G3 and am using it on GSM.
prior to using i rooted ,TWRP and loaded jasmine 4.0 , also put in skydragon kernel 2.9.4 s 3.0 had crazy boot times.
I am trying to get the max out of the phone what ive noticed is that the phone just doesn't wanna deep sleep.
I have greenify , xposed (amplify) and noticed the issue of battery being drained when idle , i went to sleep and saw it was at 50% , woke up to 10% battery, my older phones never dropped more than 2% overnight,
To investigate loaded BBS and wakelock detector , nothing that pops up out of the ordinary
So my question is what do you guys do to max the battery outta this , what can i do ? i dont really see any apps causing it to wakeup . suggestions or any would be appreciated
any other stock rom also if you could suggest for battery life ? ive heard good about cloudy 1.2 as well.
I have really gotten great battery life out of sky dragon along with the 3.0.2 SD kernel (kernel is in the orig Dev section). Along with amplify ad greenify.

Are you connected to WiFi when your phone won't deep sleep?
I work from home, so my phone spends 90% of its time on WiFi - I was getting terrible battery drain and only 50% deep sleep on a good day. One day, I left the house and noticed great battery life and plenty of deep sleep on a 4G connection (which is the opposite of what I expected).
After trying nearly everything, I discovered the fix was as a simple as turning on the "Battery Saving for WiFi" setting under Settings -> Wi-Fi -> Advanced Wi-Fi". I've been getting great battery life and deep sleep times when I'm at home now.
Give it a shot and see if it solves your issue.
Also, ever since daylight savings time went into effect, I noticed both my phone and my wife's phone keep randomly changing time zone for no reason. Looks like the phone is struggling to automatically detect the time zone from the carrier and causing battery drain as a result. I disabled the setting to automatically detect the time zone (and manually set it for PDT) and the battery drain stopped on both of our devices. Could be unique to my area but may be something to try as well.

I thought the same as well which is why I discounted this as being a cause for 4 months....I have 15 other android devices and none have exhibited this behavior so I was surprised that such a trivial setting could have had this impact.
To answer your question, I am currently running:
- BeanTowns stock 11B ROM
- SkyDragon 2.9.7 kernel
- Xposed installed with Disabled Services running
- Selected stock apps/services disabled
I don't use greenify/amplify (don't see the need as my average daily drop is anywhere from 1.6% - 2.4%/hour with moderate use).
Hi,
I've been using this G5 for more than 6 months. At the beginning it performed good, reaching easily 5h of SOT with localization, 3g, wifi and everything on. Recently I noticed a huge drop in battery because I only get 3h of SOT with a similar usage.
Yesterday I did a factory reset (v20a EUR) and then also rooted it to inspect wakelocks. The factory reset did not solve anything but I got some more information with BBS.
Android System: WifiOffDelayIfNotUsed
Google Play Services: NlpWakeLock
I didn't perform a test over the whole battery cycle because leaving the device alone for just 3 minutes is enough to notice a greater number of wakelocks with the same label. Really: leaving the screen off for a minute will increase the wakelock time of 10 seconds.
Turning off the wifi and switching to 3g seems to completely solve the issue. Disabling "keep wifi active during sleep" doesn't solve the problem.
Do you have any suggestion?
