It doesn't show the used frequency, just the signal intensity

You need to give the app location permissions to see which band you are on. Works perfect for me.

Lte discovery app needs root in my phone to tell me the band.

[Q] Default to HSPA+

hey all,
looking at getting this phone this weekend, but curious about the LTE.. I live in a rural area that doesnt have LTE, we will be on HSPA+ for a while yet. Carrier is Telus in Nova Scotia.
I have read that LTE is a bit of a battery hog, if there is no LTE in my area will the phone keep hunting for LTE?
Can i "disable" LTE and have it default to HSPA+?(primarily for battery consumption)
Thanks
EDIT: sorry i just notice the post about questions going in the Q&A, sorry, if a mod could move it, that would be great
Yes you can disable it. which carrier are you with?
Hi, I have the AT&T S3 and I've used the code *#2263# and selected WCDMA and the frequency, and now it stays on HSPA
I hope it helps!
Thanks thats what I was getting at (wasn't sure if you guys had that option or not) OP there is your method.
You can also get the app Phone Info to change your settings
Excellent Info! Thanks
Do you think the battery life will be better ?

hrmm...when I do that on my ATT S3 it just takes me to a screen that says RAT selection option is restricted.
I don't see any other options.

There was a way to get out of this before, I think it involves you taking out your sim card.
Ah, here it is. Try this!

Does this mean that some ATT phones have a different modem than other supposedly identical ATT phones??
i found there is no need to use codes, etc
Settings > More Settings > Mobile Networks > Network mode
Gives you 4 options
GSM/HSPA/LTE (Auto Mode)
GSM/HSPA (Auto Mode)
GSM Only
HSPA Only

For ATT phones this option is locked out. FYI. Tmo, Sprint and Verizon it's prolly not. Only annoying thing about ATT's version so far. My HOX is the same way.
Root and you can access it I think.

Hi, I'm using the At&t version of the S3 on another network (Claro) and the code works. Maybe something is different because of that?
Are you guys using this like I said earlier?

I tried this one but it doesn't work for me. I see the information and can run ping test but if I try to make a band change the new selection is not applied.
I'm only able to change it using *#2263# :/
Ohhhhhhh....OK.
idk *#2263# isnt working at all on my att phone.

[Q] WCDMA Preferred Settings Galaxy S3

Hi,
Guys I am from Pakistan and using Galaxy S3 I9300 International Version. Recently, all telecom operators of Pakistan have switch their networks to 3G. Nowadays, they are testing 3G services in some areas of major cities. They have told their customers to set their mobile settings to WCDMA for 3G services.
After setting to WCDMA, I receive 3G services without any issue but as soon as I leave the coverage area 3G plus Cellular Services switched off.
I change the settings to Auto GSM/WCDMA, but after that even in 3G coverage area I get Edge Services and not 3G.
Q) Is there any way, by which I can configure the option of Auto WCDMA/GSM with WCDMA Preferred ?
Anyone who can help out . . . . . !

Missing the LTE Option

I have the LG G2 MINI, the D620K variant. It has 4G LTE written on the back of it and it has the LTE branding all over it under its back cover as well. But when I enter the mobile network settings, there is no option for LTE there? It only has the options for WCDMA + GSM, WCDMA only and GSM only. If I get a 4G enabled sim, would that help me get the LTE option in the mobile network settings?
LTE Missing
I have the same problem with a LG G2 Mini D620R... You can set the LTE downloading the NETWORK app from Store.
It is not the best solution, i guess, ´cos you need set it every time turn on the phone...

I've gotten curious after reading this... mine has this: under preferred network mode:, (GSM/WCDMA/LTE auto)

Finally Continuous 3G(WCDMA) or 3G+2G for Moto G

Guys, i finally found solution for our Moto G network data issue,
Previously i was using Xperia C where i can select 2g(GSM), 3G( WCDMA) , 3G+2G option.
But in our Moto G - 2G, 3G+2G option is there but complete 3G (WCDMA) is missing this means
If we select 3G, our phone will Select 2G when our phone finds full 2G network, it will switch to 3G only when it finds full network
"Network" yup this is solution
Network app just download this from play store and enjoy complete full
3G support :good:

I am not here to promote this app just to help my xda brothers whosesoever is facing similar problem like me
Just hit thanks if this thread helped you :good:

Try selecting wcdma only or wcdma preferred....i always use auto mode......if it not works...then put the phn in airplane mode once and switch off then restart and try again..some times this solves network problem for me.....aftr selecting if it doesnt work u can go to settings/more/cellular networks/network mode/ wcdma only....

no LTE connection

Got the phone yesterday, I have LineageOS 14.1 installed and today I inserted the SIM card, by default it detected its settings but it doesn't give me LTE, if I choose preferred network type to be LTE I end up with no connection even from H, but if i selected GSM/WCDMA/LTE I can get H+ tried a few different settings but nothing worked...the device is compatible with the provider's bands.

I did try...I've tried many different ROMs now and in every one I had only 3g available (RR,LOS,EUI,Cuoco...). I really have no idea what's wrong.

Try changing radio band or set it to automatic
*#*#4636#*#*
Apparently the LTE works at higher frequencies, at home however the lte frequency is lower and it didn't pick up the signal...the provider doesn't offer many lte bands, so it's partially their fault. Anyhow LTE is working, probably going to change provider soon.
