I don't know if ppl here on MTCB have noticed this hack
https://forum.xda-developers.com/an...nt/mtcd-microg-install-massive-speed-t3581439
While it is MTCD related, according to MicorG original thread it works on any stock or custom Android ROM if there is Xposed...
Russians on 4pda also experimenting with it on both MTCD as well as MATCB/C with great results, but I cannot post 4pda links for XDA policy so you have to look for that yourself.
I installed it according to Russian's procedure (there are several prebuilt APK installers that are easy to use - just click and go!) onto latest MTCB KK Malaysk 3188 ROM and it works. I think there is some speed improvement, I think even several sec faster boot and I believe apps work smoother, but I use only just few apps beside stock ones so it was fast for me even without hacks....
BUT.... Im wondering if MM ROMs for MTCBs, which are notorious for sluggishness, can be improved with this hack. Didn't find Russians reporting on that yet, so maybe someone here with Malaysia or other KK ROM may try and report results.
It would be great if this hack can resolve performance issues on MM ROMs without memory upgrade! I believe Russians are on track for that, but I would encourage ppl here willing to step forward.
Thanks @pa.ko
I can confirm that is working as it should - speed and boot time boost! Found that solution 1 week ago but I cannot install these apps, probably because I didn't unninstall google play just freezed them.
I tried this on DSA's latest lollipop rom.
1) use Titanium backup or root uninstaller ect to remove all google apps
GmsCore, (I didn't have this)
GoogleBackupTransport, (freeze then remove)
GoogleFeedback, (freeze then remove)
GoogleLoginService, (freeze then remove)
GoogleOneTimeInitializer, (freeze then remove)
GooglePartnerSetup, (freeze then remove)
GoogleServicesFramework, (freeze then remove)
Phonesky, (I didn't have this)
SetupWizard and (I didn't have this)
Velvet ect) (I didn't have this)
2) Wipe dalvik cache with titanium backup for all apps
3) install FakeGApps by thermatk from xposed, activate, and reboot.
4) go to https://microg.org/download.html and download latest
microG Services Core Preview release (not stable 0.2.4),
microG Services Framework Proxy stable and
microG Store (FakeStore release) stable.
5) Install the three apps, reboot.
6) Test if it works, try to go to settings -> accounts -> add account, add your google account and hopefully should all go ok.
I did the following and I could log into google account and use google maps without problems.
I also use paid Poweramp from playstore and now I had problem because poweramp could not verify licence...
Will try to install fake store but I think this won't work, any solutions?

Good to have confirm that it works for you too.
Unfortunately, I don't use any sw that requires license check so I cannot share experiences. You may ask in MicroG thread here on XDA? I think they would know more on licensing checks and other advances features.
I've removed all the Google Play stuff from my unit anyway and it boots fast and runs extremely well. Sure I have to grab APK's instead of using the store and can't use Google Maps etc but the benefits outweigh those negatives.

Which ROM you use? KK or LP? Good to know that MicroG is solution for performance.
I managed to get working microG and playstore with google maps, youtube and other google staff working... but google play is useable just for activating poweramp for me thats it, if i use blankstore instead all the google apps are stil working but poweramp doesn't activate

Surely you mean Lollipop, theres no MM for MTCB/C.
I think the best way to sort these issues is the 2GB RAM mod.
But using MicroG sounds like it would help, its how you d uninstall the current G package, I ll check out the thread . . .
EDIT: I was thinking that MicroG was a micro google apps package that you might install from here : http://opengapps.org/
after flashing a custom ROM with no google apps at all.

No it is not. MicroG is independent project, targeted to offload much of Googles mambo-jumbo which is of interest only for Google (wide data collection for their own interest) on expense of processing power of the users... It is well known problem that LP was "too heavy" for exact reasons, they (BigG) reduced it in MM (but not too much, they still need lot of user data and processing offload on users side to make all these billions of $ for themselves)... KK was "lighter" (especially if you dont install Google App at all, which was BTW introduced after KK was released so in KK there is no by-design support for all that mambo-jumbo intoduced later).
Well, someone was mindful enough to launch this project. So it is solution for LP performance issues without RAM upgrade.
(Dont want to argue about benefits of RAM upgrade - just pointing out that similar performance for average user needs can be achieved with this free SW hack instead of paying and struggling with RAM chips upgrade)
It is to follow the development and see if devs like Booroondook and Mlaysk will incorporate this hack in their ROM builds (it would be beneficial to both KK and LP ROMs, especially for 3066 units!!!). That would be a revolution around here...

I know EXACTLY what youre talking about - I clicked on the link and I know about Googleis service mods throughout the versions thanks.
I was posting/editing my post to suggest that maybe removing all Gapps and installing a Microgoogle apps package like in the link may also help.
There is no "arguement" about the RAM upgrade - it IS the best way to sort the problems, but this (and poss my suggestion) could the second best way if it works.
Hi,
if someone send me (also a private message is fine) some info on how create a package that is accepted from the recovery I can add support for it in my installer.

Thanks for answering , i have delete the Google Services and install only 2 apks because one of them cant install. it was the microG store apk. When i want install, it aborts. But i can now see i have more memory and the Radio feels faster. What can i do to install the the microG store APK? ( FakeStore releases ) and must i change something in the FakeG Apps App Menu?
EDIT: Now i can login to Google Play, but after that i become this message: Error retrieving information from server. [RH-01].
I found on the internet a guide to fix it. Close google Play and clear cache. Dele the Google account and makes a new account, but the same error. Is it because i cant install the APK microG APK ?
Thanks in advance

Yes, works on all ROMs, but you may want also to try @dsa8310's ROM which not only has a microG version but also an OpenGapps pico version too, which some people find better, its in the "MTCB/MTCC Firmware" thread.
Thanks, I make instal xposed and brick HU :/ I would like no lags interfejs (better than stock), i should instal MicroG or Open Gapps from "MTCB/MTCC Firmware" thread? I am thanks!
i cant activate the google acc.
If i press add, there comes a screen with "please wait" an nothing more

- You have problems with the application Google Play Services 7.0.97?...
Google with the latest updates of play services has caused many problems, continuous blocks and excessive consumption of the battery...
I have not found a definitive solution to use version 7.0.97, but I can explain an alternative and provisional...
- What you need?
1. Root
2. Google Play Services .apk version 6.6.03 universal armeabi CPU (I preferred version and stable)
3. File manager with permission root
How to?
1. uninstall the previous version of the Google Play Services
2. install version 6.6.03 (...)
3. create a folder in /Data/app with name com.google.android.gms-2 , permits changes in RW-R-R (this folder blocks the automatic update)
Note:
- Updated from sdcard worked

Great ... until it gets auto-"upgraded" by Google. Since this is not listed as an app in Play, how would one mark to not auto-upgrade. Maybe if it shows on recent upgrades in "my-apps," auto-upgrade can be unchecked from there.
Tasker scripts and/or the "Amplfiy" Xposed module can be used to tame the battery drain, or use an app-permissions that might come with your ROM to take away keep-awake. Will do nothing for the instability, however.
Maybe post a link to the old version.

This looks like for lollipop.
In previous Android, using Link2sd, this would BE the link to the apk.
So what I did try was side-loading 6.6.03. The downgrade installed without a hitch thanks to the xinstall module, link2sd symlinked it, fine.
Then rebooted. Hoped to intercept the expected update and uncheck the Play Services auto-upgrade at that point. Unfortunately, most recent Google App (Search/Now) will not eat 6.6.03 so got com.google.process.gapps stop messages. The Google Now pane offered a click to install Play Services but this did not work.
Attempt to side-load 7.0.86 simply hung so trying to restore 7.0.97 from Titanium which also takes quite a bit of time but should eventually work (hope). So far, not successful, but will get it. Had side-loaded it originally.
is it causing problems on every version of android or only on kitkat ??

Well im on cm9 and i havent got any error so far
I am not responsible for any damage to your phone.
Read before downloading or posting in the thread.
Proceed with caution if you have no experience.
This is an initial project to get NoPlayService and NoGoogleServiceFramework on on hydrogenOS ROM, where Play Services is not available. If you use your phone without GAPPS.
For issues of autonomy: The framework and Google Play Services are known to consume huge resources. What's more to the basic consumption of these apps will be added various bugs that prevent standby phone.
This system should make last for long the battery, I'm still testing
Prerequisite:
1. You need a ROM that supports signature faking;
2. I have tried this procedure on H2OS only;
3. I do not know if it works on other ROM;
4. The installation does not require any modification of the /system partition;
5. Make a nandroid backup first;
6. You need Google Play Store only.microG Services Framework Proxy;
7. I recommend using Titanium backup (and make a backup of your applications before).
Downloads:
1. microG Services Core and microG Services Framework Proxy from here;
2. GooglePlayStore from here;
3. Lucky Patcher v6.1.7 here;
4. Any file explorer flashable zip (I 've used this for easier to installation apk I did not know if base ROM had this);
5. Titanium backup from here
Put everything in a folder storage
Instructions and download:
1. Download and install ROM without Gapps H2OS here follow the instructions, you can flash H2OS_MM_DBLOATR+SuperSU.zip too. (note important without Gapps);
2. Flash file explorer flashable zip;
2. Reboot and follow the wizard, jump wifi, I've done this procedure in data connection;
3. Download ad install microG Services Core and microG Services Framework Proxy;
4. Open MicroG Setting on your drawer and set (see img);
5. Reboot phone
at this point you add your account, then
6. Install GooglePlayStore (do not open this);
7. Install Lucky Patcher and open this on your drawer then put googleplaystore in system/apps
8. Reboot phone;
9. Install titanium backup and restore your app;
10. You haven't PlayService and google framework that suck your battery (see img).
Here you can find the app that do not work
however you can use third-party applications, that it is better
GAPPS LIST OF WORKING AND NOT WITH THIS PROCEDURE:

I read you don't need an ROM with Fake signature...
There is an xposed Module for it...
http://repo.xposed.info/module/com.thermatk.android.xf.fakegapps
It would be fair to link the thread by @MaR-V-iN:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/app-microg-gmscore-floss-play-services-t3217616
There can everybody find the links and maybe help to install a ROM without GApps. Btw l.......r isn't necessary to install microG, there are other possibilities...!

For full functionality you need signature faking.
Instructions
Preparation:
You need a 4.4+ ROM that is GAPPS-free. Either don't install them or remove them, if your ROM ships them. Please note that microG GmsCore might run on a cleaned stock ROM, but it might also brick it or cause random bugs.
You need a ROM that supports signature faking. Some custom ROMs are patched to support signature faking out of the box, including all OmniROM-based ones. Stock CyanogenMod denied the inclusion, as the possibility of third-party play services implementations is a security issue. Please ask your ROM developer if unsure. The latest version of signature spoofing has to be enabled at the bottom of the developer settings first. If your ROM does not support signature faking, but you use Xposed, you can grab a Xposed module here.
If you are a ROM developer or just do custom builds for whatever reason, you can download and include the patch from here and here.
Remove UnifiedNlp. In case you installed it before. You can keep your backend modules installed, microG Services will be able to use them later and provide the same feature set (to be precise, microG Services includes UnifiedNlp).

Hi,
I'm on XtreStoLite 2.4 5.1.1 on my S6 edge for months now. All was working perfectly. Recently, GPS started crashing randomly, but except for the error, services and sync seemed to be working fine. Now ytdy armageddon started and now Google apps connected to GPS (search, keep, music, but not play store for example) will not run and get killed instantly.
What I did based on what ive found:
- deactivated play services, uninstalled updates and restored the account, GPS 9.0.83 (240-121911109)
- wiped cache/dalvik which helped for couple of minutes
appreciate any help!
I've had problems too with the latest play services on LG G4 H815 6.0 v20d. Google Play Services crashes non boot and Google Chrome crash after a few seconds of opening.
Uninstalling updates fixed it but I'm told by many apps that I need the latest version. I didn't wipe cache though.

Got a fix. Google apps working. No force closes/errors. Root needed to prevent auto-update to latest version.
i) Get to the May 7th (or earlier) Play Services from here: http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google-inc/google-play-services/
Look at the notes at the top to see which version you need arm or 64 ect.
In you're case, it's '240' so arm64 + arm android 5.0+ version. Direct download for you link: http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google...s-9-0-81-240-121617224-android-apk-download//ii) Enable airplane mode to prevent updates
iii) Then just install the apk on top of your rolled back version. Apks only install if version is newer.
iv) Using a root-enabled file manager like ES File Explorer, open \data\app and create two new, empty folders titled com.google.android.gms-1.apk and com.google.android.gms-2.apk. This tricks Google into causing auto updating of your GPS to fail.
v) Reboot (important)
Optional) Set Google Play Services as a device administrator again under security settings for Device Manager features.
If you get an error during install, then follow this guide to install: http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/help/delete-disable-downgrade-prevent-update-t3091832

Edit: yep. Same here. When I turn internet back on, it updates to latest version. Try installing an older version.
I'll try and find another way to stop auto updates.
Same problem here, uninstalled services by titanium then installed back by apk and flashed open gapps, worked for me
None of those worked for me. Well, I used the opportunity to update XtreStoLite to MM, and problem disappeared, obviously
However, come to think of it, it could have sth to do with Amplify killing processes. Thing is, I didn't manipulate with anything there recently, but after activating xposed module on updated ROM i saw some crashes again. Anyway, I disabled it in any case now, want to see how the battery will last on the updated ROM, but it could be connected

Were you by any chance changing your phones emojis? I was and rebooted and noticed the GPS crash. Undoing emoji changes didn't fit it.

Nope, never!
I know I can download new apps and make them the default but what I am wondering is if I could completely delete some of the stock/bundled apps that come with the phone with different versions.
For example, instead of Huawei's Contacts or Dialer or SMS applications, I want to use the Google provided ones (assuming they are compatible)
[Google Play URL]/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.dialer
[Google Play URL]/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.contacts
[Google Play URL]/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.apps.messaging
Is this do-able? If so, how?
I am using the US version of Honor 8 that has been unlocked and rooted and running Android 6.0, if that matters.

U can for some apps. This is there in EMUI 5.0. I'm not really sure about EMUI 4 becoz I updated to EMUI 5.0 the day I got my phone.
Good luck!

You need to be rooted to delete system apps and replace them with ones you download.

Do you have any instructions on how to do so? Or can you point me to where I can find them?
My phone is rooted, so if I can do it, I would love to.

There is something similar in EMUI 4 as well but all that does is make a new app the default. It doesn't get rid of the bundled apps from the system.
What I want to do is get rid of them completely from the system, so that there are no traces of them.

Install Magisk 11.1 from your custom recovery (11.1 is the only one that works right now).
Flash the linked zip from your custom recovery
This is a Magisk module I created to replace the Dialer, Messages, Calendar, and Contacts with the Google versions. It also replaces the stock Gallery with QuickPic. Like any other Magisk module, if you want to go back to stock, just disable the module and reboot.

Awesome! This is exactly what I was looking for. :good:
I don't know much about Magisk but is this compatible with any version of Honor 8? Or is limited to specific models? I have the US version (FRD-L04 running Android 6.0).
Also how easy is to modify this? For example, instead of using QuickPic, I would like to use Google Photos. I would also like to replace the Calculator, Clock, Email apps with the Google versions. Is that (easily) do-able?

To answer your question, I'll give a brief answer on what Magisk does. Magisk stores all the mods to /system/ in a disk image on the /data/ partition. It injects itself early in the boot process to mount the Magisk image and mount/symlink the mods over top of your /system/ partition. This allows the end user to effectively modify /system/, without actually modifying /system/ -- the actual underlying stock files are untouched.
Conceptually this mod is compatible with all Honor 8 models -- at worst, it will add the Google versions in addition to the stock versions. In my zip I mount the new versions over top of the Huawei stock apps which is what "replaces" them.
It's pretty easily do-able to mod the zip. Just follow the instructions in config.sh and you should be good to go. Install App Inspector from the Play Store to find the install directory of the system apps you want to replace -- either in /system/app/ or /system/priv-app/ and note what they're named. From there, just drop the APK's you want into the proper folder in the zip, update the REPLACE directories as needed in the config, and then load it into Magisk. If a stock app you're replacing has library folders inside the app directory, you have to explicitly name that folder in config.sh so that it mounts over the entire folder instead of a merge-mount.
You may not be able to replace the stock Email client though since I think that will break the email intent service. But worst case scenario, just toggle your module off and keep editing it until it works the way you want. In the case of system apps that aren't tightly integrated, like the Calculator, I'd recommend just mounting a blank folder over top of the system app (essentially disabling it) and then installing your preferred calculator from the Play Store (RealCalc is what I use).

Kind of new to the rooting/tweaking scene, so I wasn't aware I had other options. I went through most of the threads in the Honor 8 forum and there weren't a lot of mentions of how to uninstall the system apps. That's what led me to ask the question in the first place.
Titanium Backup looks cool. What would the benefit be between using Titanium Backup vs. Magisk?

See titanium backup and Magisk r 2 completely different things.
So using Magisk u can use a module which can help u but if u want to edit it it gets complex. Magisk is like SuperSU on steroids. So it's main function is to provide root without modifying system so that Safetynet is bypassed. It also provides system-less modules to get more functionality.
Titanium backup is an app which can perform various functions with root access. Like backing up apps and their data or uninstalling system ones or moving apps to the SD card etc.
But if all u want is to uninstall system apps and if u already have SuperSU then just install this app: https://goo.gl/hK4n5H
It will simply uninstall the applications u select. Also once u uninstall the apps reboot ur phone.

Awesome. Thanks for the info! This is the first time I've looked at rooting/tweaking my phone, so I am learning a lot in a short time. :good:
Anyways, my intent is to have as close to a stock ROM as possible and until the custom ROMs stabilize, I thought I could get rid of the stock apps (such as Clock, Contacts, Dialer, etc.) and replace them with the Google version from the Play Store. Secondly, I also wanted to get rid of the unnecessary Google stuff and flash OpenGApps just to have the bare minimum.
For the first, @Telperion gave a Magisk module that he had written for himself to do exactly that but based on what you described, it sounds like I could just install Titanium Backup and uninstall those apps myself. That might be easier to do.
For the second part, there was a script @ganeshbiyer wrote to uninstall all the Google apps (https://forum.xda-developers.com/ho...-apps-list-t3521225/post71093292#post71093292) but I couldn't get it to work. But if I understand you correctly, I should be able to do that with Titanium Backup as well.

Yup all can be done with Titanium Backup.

TB fully removes/replaces the apps -- this might be desirable, but might not be. It's hard to go back and forth between the two once you uninstall.
Magisk mounts over top of the old ones so you get all the benefit without any actual changes to /system/ -- this is more flexible and more desirable for some users.
Personally, I think Magisk and other systemless mods are the future of custom tweaks so I'd suggest that if you think you'll be a tinkerer, learn Magisk modules and do it that way. Ultimately though it's preference.

Hey @Telperion,
I ran this module and it seemed to work OK for the most part. The Dialer, Messages, Calendar and Contacts all updated properly. But QuickPic doesn't seem to work though. I see that it's installed but when I try to open the app, it just closes and takes me back to the home screen. Any ideas on what might have happened?

Strange, that happened to me in the first version of my zip, I set it as a merge-mod and for some reason the existing libraries in the /Gallery2/ folder cause QuickPic to crash. When I set it to 'overwrite' /system/priv-app/Gallery2 which made the libraries disappear, then QuickPic launched normally.
Do you have QuickPic currently installed from the Play Store? If so, uninstall first.
Update: Looked over the zip, it looks good. Try downloading and flashing the mod again, perhaps from Recovery this time (if you added from UI the first go-round). Let me know how that goes.

No, I don't have QuickPic installed from the store. I ran the update on the stock device, before I even set up by Google account on it. And I did flash it from TWRP recovery, so I don't believe that is the issue either. But I'll try again and let you know if it works.
What is MicroG ?
MicroG is a small pakage that emulates gapps on your phone. Its very small in weight. Its works same as google play service and allow apps to work on it. MicroG does not consume that much*battery, RAM and storage*(compared to gapps). And its doesn't harm you're device any way
In simple word its a smaller version of gapps(pico)
Requirement :-
1)Twrp installed
2)U need a custom rom which supports "android signature spoofing"
Where to find this option:-
normally u find this option in 1)developer option or
2)apps > permission or
3)in personalization/configuration.
If u didn't that means your rom probably not support signature spoofing
Roms that supports signature spoofing :-
1)halogen os or xos (tested)
2)Nitrogen os(tested)
3)Omni rom
4)crdroid
And many more. Search yourself in xda
Installation :-
I made a twrp flasheble zip for install this easily
1) clean flash your current rom and then flash microG zip file (don't flash any type of gapps)
2) after boot completed go to phone setting and enable signature spoofing
3)after that check your app drawer u will find a new app called "microG setting"
5)open that app, tap on "self check" then enable first 3 options in "signature spoofing section" and then go down, in" system" section enable battery otimization
6) go back and enable "google device registration" , "google cloud massaging" , "google safetynet"
7) in "google safetynet" tap on three dot menu and tap on advanced select first option "use official server"
That's it u done that now enjoy gapps less system
Disclaimer :-
Micro-g is just a play service emulator so its may or may not work with all app some app might get crashed, but believe me its working just fine with our daily used apps
still use it at your own risk
Don't blame me if anything goes wrong
Credits:-
Thanks to microG devs
Note:
1)Google play store is included so don't worry about that
2)its not kenzo specific it should work on other device too

I am waiting for the next stable build, didn't try 19th. I don't play any games, if you want i can try the game you name. But apps which rely on play services are working fine. Without gapps microsoft authenticator doesn't even run, with microG it works.

Works nice on latest 21/04 NOS
Just wondering if it persists after dirty flash or need to do this every time?
Are contact sync and gmail sync work?
Dirty flashed 22/04 NOS + @subwof microG.zip, works fine aswell
I hope you will keep maintaining this
Btw, I get 1000-1300MB free with it on 2GB ..with open gapps or dynamic I always got 700-900 free lately :/

This should give few ideas which google apps work with MicroG....

As for contact sync please post it on MicroG xda forums.....They will have more idea than we have?
I use MicroG on Sony Xperia mini pro(2011) and Redmi 1s & it works great as I only use playstore for updating apps , nothing more. As for maps, navigation I use Mozilla backend module and Google maps work fine with it
Biggest advantage of MicroG is small size with extreme battery friendly nature.
Google play service is the most battery hog and also reduces a lot of ram

There is Tingle, Needle or Haystack for this.
Slimrom didn't support spoofing, so I used a magisk module named nanomod, however the included play store does not seem to work, can't connect to servers :s
