Hey everyone. Please don't flame and ask me to just 'test' Roms etc. I've been doing that for months. Tried vanilla stock, resurrection remix, cyanogen etc.
I need a Rom that isn't absolutely plastered with 'branding' and stuff from the creator and doesn't have the settings menus warped or other nonsense baked into it.
But that still allows me to use both cameras and doesn't drain my battery in only 4 hours.
I just got a new battery today and my phone is still draining in just a few hours with the screen brightness at 50%. I've got all of my settings turned off, BT, GPS etc. and I don't even have that many apps installed.
So it's got to be the rom because I used to get 1½ days out of this thing.
I really like AOSP roms, but I just don't like not being able to use both the cameras to their full potential.
Any ideas?
You can check out Fulmics ROM 2.0 or or Genisys 2.0. My friends use those and they haven't complained about it.
I installed RR 6.1.0 from NextDroid. The battery performance improved, it now charges faster and lasts longer. However the wide-angle camera doesn't work. ?*

Hi everyone,
I'm currently ussing the back-to-n00t v9 ROM (KitKat) together with Boeffla Kernel for a pretty long time. It was good at the beginning, although the rom had a few bugs (like the mobile data button not working sometimes and roaming mode disabling when disabling data causing roaming warnings). But for some time already, I'm getting kinda frustrated. The phone likes to lag sometimes, like when going out of some app to the home screen and everything loads again causing a terrible lag, or all the apps close in the background. Also many times when I want to unlock the phone I have to wait a few seconds because nothing works (can't draw the pattern). I'm looking for some simple ROM (not any Marshmallow stuff etc, I want to maintain stability and performance). I'd love to get some better performance, without lagging and having problems with the keyboard (like it's not showing because of low RAM or stuff like that). I'd also like to get some good battery life althought this isn't that of a priority because I have 2 batteries.
I don't want to flash Cyanogenmod because I want to keep the TouchWiz camera and stuff.
Which ROM would you suggest me? I saw some website recommending Revolutionary S5, although I don't like the idea of trying to make an old phone like the some new model, they claim it's super smooth and optimised. Is that true? I don't want to waste any more RAM because of some ****ty features from S5 that I'll never use.
Thanks in advance! Hope you can help me.
same here, I use RR + boeffla but it is sucking one and half battery a day, inactivity battery consume is the same as Whatsapp I use a lot, it seems to be active when not active.
Same problem with Lineage 14.1
Best ROM for me was a stock rooted ROM with unnecessary apps disabled.
hi i am new to redmi note 3, before this i have samsung note 3 neo, samsung s3, sony xperia p, on all this devices i flash many rom, now on this device i have use miui 7 and miui 8 beta, but on both i am getting battery drain, unstabele network, call drop probelm, so i am thinking to move on any custom rom, so please help me to choose one of them, i just need good battery life, performance like stock and no bug's. so anyone using any rom like this please tell me. now i am on miui 7.5.3 globle stabel and bootloader is still locked.
You cant flash custom rom without unlocking Bootloder.....Mokee is best for me
CM13 by Santhosh M.
Pair it with Xposed and DS batt saver.
It's better than stock.
I've tried a few ROMs already and none of them are any good in my opinion. A lot of them are still in beta/testing stages so that's to be expected.
Santosh's CM13 was alright, I've had a few phone reboots and battery issues with it. SlimAOSP has wifi signal issues for me and yes I've tried the CM13 radios already. There are a few other ones I've tried but I'll jump straight to the point.
MIUI is the most stable and it makes sense because it's the official ROM for this phone. I'd just flash it using MiFlashBeta and flash the latest fastboot version - which you can find from the official website (Google it). As for an actual custom ROM, I'm currently on the leaked qualcomm 5.1 AOSP. There's a thread here that as the pre-rooted and Xposed version packaged in, so you can just use that.
So far, no reboots on this ROM. Battery life is great, I have about 5 hrs 40 mins screen on time with about 47% battery left. I'm using Greenify and PowerNap only, no kernel tweaks etc. Fingerprint works on this as well, but to be fair fingerprint was never an issue for me on all the custom ROMs I've tried. This ROM is quite stable and I would imagine so, as this was a leaked ROM from qualcomm, so it's probably optimized in some way. Also, it's AOSP, which is generally better in terms of battery compared to CM ROMs.
The ONLY issue on this ROM is bluetooth. I can pair with bluetooth devices and get audio fine. But I can't get my car to pull the bluetooth phone profile, which is responsible for syncing contacts from my phone. All other ROMs I've tried do not have this issue. What this basically means is I can't use my car to fetch contacts from my phone, therefore I can't send/receive SMS or calls from my car's infotainment system. Quite an annoyance for me, but considering how stable this ROM is as opposed to the other ones I've tried, it's a sacrifice I'll have to make.
I'd say just stick to the most stable ROM that suits you, wait a few more months until other ROMs become more stable, then try them out.

You should try Mokee (Not Promoting Mokee) but it is most stable and everything works well:good:
I suggest you to try this.

really good in my opinion.
I had only one isssue with all official miui that cpu never sleep after 10-12 hrs of reboot.
I tried many things on it to work.
But then I found this and its really good.
I read some comments that they used to get 8-9hrs of SOT, some said they could manage to get 10 or more hours on SOT, so ive been thinking on creating thread to get some info on what version of miui is the best for battery backup, ive used miui7 and yeah i got 8hrs of SOT back then, miui8 is pretty fast on battery drain, so can i have something on you guys? what version is good on battery backup?
I don't think there's a simple answer to your question. Everyone's use of the phone is different.
Playing games uses more battery than browsing or watching YouTube.
4G uses more battery than 3G.
3G uses more battery than WiFi.
Bad mobile signal uses more battery than good signal.
Setting the brightness higher uses more battery than setting it low.
Overclocking uses more battery than running at stock speed.
MIUI 8 uses more battery than MIUI 7.
So there is really no way to objectively compare SOT between users.
I never managed to empty the battery of my phone in one day, no matter what I was doing.
And as long as you come home in the evening and still have battery left, you shouldn't worry about other people's screen on times.
But do you even need to use MIUI? I have used both MIUI 7 and 8, for many months and I used to think that the user experience was pretty great till I installed an Android 7 rom here from XDA, Slim 7. Only then I understood what a great experience this phone can offer. I have been using Nitrogen OS for close to two months now, and not only does it have all the customization options I need, my phone is smooth as a flagship and I get 10-11 hours of screen on time regularly, with heavy use.
You could use a Marshmallow ROM if you really need a perfectly stable camera, but the camera works 9 out of 10 times anyway.
Custom ROMs are better in every way than MIUI.
Now im on miui7.5.30 battery back up is pretty good. I love aosp based rom but suddenly my fp breaks on NOs, dont know why, since then i get bootloop when i installed custom roms so i settled now in miui
I love aosp to but alarm dont work when turn off phone. And that is important to me.
I still have Galaxy SII and completely working. I am looking to make it as GPS system.
I am looking a ROM with literately no functionality except the APK I will install.
A identical ROM would allow me use Google Maps navigation and does nothing more.
Why? So that I can save battery from Google services and other apps eating battery in background.
Appreciate the help,
Thanks.
Chameleon ROM (4.1.2) or 2.3 based roms
Thanks, I went for slimbean 4.4.4 ROM. Seems quite fast.
use the default samsung rom. it will give good battery life without heating
My SGS II is working almost 2 WEEKS (!) after battery charging. Of course most of the time on standby and with high signal level and wifi/3g offline.
I use it as third phone - when selling on olx or eBay.
I love S2!! It is small, handy and battery lives like on ancient times Nokia 6310
[Edit]
One important note:
I use fully functional AICP (7.1.2) and Greenify
I have tried some roms in the past, but wasnt really happy with stock camera in the roms or the full screen birghtness when unlocking.
I wonder if there are already roms with 100% of the quality from stock MIUI camera and normal FOD unlock wthout full 100% brightness.
I saw for example dotOS and it looks good, just not sure if camera and FOD are like in stock MIUI.
Someone has advice?
DotOS is a really good ROM. The camera is perfect and there is no problem with the brightness on the lockscreen. The only problem I encountered is the way that the rom don't want to update itself.
TL;DR : Try it !
Okay, it's almost 3 months since last advice, and for now which ROM is the best? Is DotOS still worth installing, or should I choose something newer, like Evolution X 6.0 or DerpFest (which are on A12)?
I am looking for great stability and camera, fast fingerprint sensor, good battery and working SafetyNet. Also, good RAM management would be significant for me, as I get very frustrated, when MIUI is reloading app that was recently opened. It's like c'mon, this phone has 6 GB of RAM, more than some older PC's.
Also, did you hear about ANXCamera? Is it good?

Yeah I still use DotOs, stability is great also fingerprint scanner is fast, Battery is crazy compared with MIU easy 8-9 hour screentime. Which translates for me to 7+ days without charging.
Yes I have ANXCamera installed which is like 95% the same as MIUI camera. Only thing I found was that its says 48MP instead of 64MP, but I never use that mode all other modes are working correct.
