Hi all,
Post an install of the latest nougat image via manual flash ( build Nr - TOS089A-NMF26F) on Swift2, I see that the space occupied by system files results in about 11 Gigs approx ( out of 16 gigs, only 14.6 Gigs available , and from this, 11 gigs already eaten up by the system). And the worst part is, I have disabled all the bloatware ( duo, hangouts, books, music, etc. ). Could anyone explain me why the 11 gigs? and if am I the only one facing this issue or is this expected?
Thanks in advance.
I noticed that too. A factory reset will bring it back to 5.32gb. It seems the download for the OTA update persists after the update has been applied, but a reset removes it.
Hope that helps.

Hi bushbladewill,
Aha. That makes sense. But this was not an OTA update. Since I was on the alpha testing , I got the release earlier than everyone and I used TWRP to flash it ( which I should not have done in retrospective). But I am going to give the factory reset a try and hopefully that should work. Will keep posting. Thanks

so the factory reset did indeed help, saw a lot of boost in the performance and responsiveness time and also the sensor response time improved by leaps . so thats quiet something. Thank you very much.
Brilliant, glad to hear it. A friend of mine also has a swift 2x and his is the same. I have not seen it mentioned in any other social media though so i think it has largely gone unnoticed. I have emailed wileyfox about it as part of my feedback to [email protected] but have had no response as yet.

That is an "i". As in KI4, not 14.
Try a factory reset. (you may not like that answer though)
Oops, i guess then that the previous build was 4 and now its I4. I tried factory restore but it didnt help as you might have guessed.

I don't think you are guessing right. Last three characters of the build (KI4, for example) represent year, month, and build number.
And I don't know what a "factory restore" is. Did you do a factory reset from menu > privacy > factory data reset?
Yes, what i did was a factory reset. Whatever the case after my firmware update my phone is alot slower and the battery lasts even less when i expected the opposite from a firmware update. And Either way my firmware WAS updated , or else it wouldnt go all the qay to download mode and not update anything. so the phone was updated and now it has problems. the previous build i dont rem but im sure it had a 4 at the end. so may be another letter then 4. but it wasnt I4. Thank you for your prompt reply

Well in that case you have three options. 1 is to try another factory reset. 2 is to try to re-flash the XWKI4 firmware yourself using Odin. You can get the firmware either from Intratech's official firmware thread here on XDA, or off samfirmware.com. 3 is if you're not comfortable doing that, take it to service.
Hi.
I'm on my 2nd S3 now. First one suffered from the "sudden death syndrome".
My 2nd S3 has been perfectly fine bar the odd lock up. It's rooted and flashed with Supernexus by Faryab on v4.2.2
It has been freezing a lot lately, maybe 3 or 4 times a day but over the past few hours, it's now locked up approximately 20-30 times and I have to keep the power button pressed to reboot it. I've uninstalled any apps I have installed over the past few days. Booted into recovery and cleared cache and davlik cache (it's now saying Android is Upgrading upon every reboot). I can't even get time to backup my apps using Titanium Backup without it crashing.
What is going on anybody? Any help is much appreciated.
Try having a read of the freezing thread over in general.

Thanks. It appears my full microSD card was causing the problem. Cleared a few movies off it last night and it's not crashed since. Fingers crossed!

Did you do a full wipe including system format before installing the ROM? . It may be a data problem. Don't forget that 4.2.2 is also a beta firmware mate and not official like 4.1.2 so these things can happen. Also there are no custom kernels to flash to try and see if it's kernel based either.

Hey, yeah I did a full wipe including system format before I installed the new ROM. I've had this ROM for probably 3 months now and haven't had any problems with it up until the last few weeks. Infact 4.1.2 was killing my battery in a matter of hours. 4.2.2 ROM made me love my phone again as it fixed my battery woes!
This is so frustrating...
4.2.2 being a beta version can do this but re-installing can sometimes cure it though. Changing the kernel in 4.1.2 can give you better battery if you play around with a few and if course is more stable being an official release too. You can also try a different 4.2.2 ROM. They aren't all the same.
Thanks for the reply. Im not too comfortable/confident in changing kernels due to my lack of knowledge on them!
I do however like Faryabs ROMS as I like the original Android flavoured ROMS.
Will try a reinstall!
Same Problem

I have the exact same issue, I was running Faryaabs rom version M1, Android 4.2.2. And a couple of days ago, I noticed it started freezing, and I have to reboot with power button. Now I installed the leaked Touchwiz 4.2.2. but the freezing remains and it has started to be worse. As you mention, 20-30 times a day. I have noticed though, when I shutt of internet, both wifi and 3/4G I get less crashes. Have you noticed the same?
If you find a solution, please inform me to.
Cheers,
Niko

I think you may have found it
Wifi for example is controled by the kernel but there is no source codes released by Samsung so thats why there are no custom 4.2.2 kernels available for the S3 or you could flash one and most likely sort the problem out.
Its a shame cos there are for other phones on this version.
Hi dude
I went to the freezing thread here and found that the DFG method solved it all. So for anyone willing to try this please head over to that thread or just download the dummy file generator apps (2 in app store) although one is only necessary.

I was running a custom L ROM until recently... Switched to testing some custom M ROMs... went well, then decided to go stock M. I used a TWRP backup someone posted for the initial upgrade. It completed, and was a laggy mess. I ran that way for three days. No updates.
fast forward to now...
last weekend I flashed full, proper stock M ROM (the DLOAD folder trick)
Within 30 minutes of first boot, I got an OTA- Cust something or other update
I accepted it.
Now, I see a new section in About Phone- it's labeled Custom version
What the heck is this?

I saw the cust update in my updater and thought it was the result of downloading a custom recovery. However, I downloaded the full firmware package from the Huawei site and extracted it. The documentation also referred to cust. It appears that this update was so minor that rather than change the version/build, they just added in the cust part. Weird. But I went ahead and accepted the update through updater, and it installed just fine without wiping my apps and data. I did revert to stock recovery and unrooted before I did so, of course.

Noticed anything different? Does it run any smoother? I had to go back to CM13 as it just seems like my phone starts to slow down after a few days on stock MM.

It's only been a day, but I'll say that there seems to be a slight improvement in battery life and memory utilization. Someone mentioned that this patch was supposed to improve the GPS performance but I haven't had a chance to test that. Speedwise, I haven't had any slowdown issues before or after the update. Then again, I'm coming from a 1st gen Moto E so by comparison anything else seems lightning fast. As long as they keep pumping out solid updates, I'm gonna stick with stock.

I got this cust update a few days ago and it seems to have fixed my GPS issues. Maps used to take forever to get a GPS fix and frequently lost the fix every few minutes. Now it gets a fix in seconds and I haven't had a dropout yet.
When I first installed the update, the internal storage was showing up as 2GB. Couldn't figure out why so I just did a factory reset and everything is back to normal (internal storage reporting as 16GB), and the GPS still works well after the reset.
I updated my T-Mobile Note-8 to Oreo (CRC2) via OTA update. Ever since my "camera keeps stopping" after taking a pic.. Anybody else here with similar experience?
Things I already tried:
1. Cleared system cache, did NOT work.
2. Cleared camera app cache/data, did NOT work.
3. Cleared gallery app cache/data, did NOT work.
4. Changed to internal/phone memory storage (in the camera settings), did NOT work.
5. Tried safe mode & camera still crashed, did NOT work.
Quick google search says many other people are facing this issue (different devices). I'm surprised there is NO posts here asking about this...
My only option at this point is to do a complete factory reset. But I hate doing that because of all the setup steps involved in making it behave correctly (as I like it).
Any help appreciated.

I had Samsung Experience Home keep FCing on me. Had to do a reset. Sucked. 1 other thing you might want to try is to go into Recovery mode and clear the cache there...and see if it helps you. (didn't work for me).

Yeah, that's what I did in step 1. Didn't make any difference, camera still crashes...
I guess factory reset and setting up the device from scratch is my only option at this point.
Can anyone please post a working version of the stock Samsung Camera APK that works on Oreo (CRC2)?
Help appreciated... Thanks

From JaguarXT inn another thread. Maybe this is why:
" Just be aware that there are problems with the current Oreo version for the Note 8. That is the reason why T-Mobile stopped sending out that version of Oreo Android to Note 8 devices right now. The last I heard of is that Samsung went to Google for help on the problems. So both Google and Samsung engineers are working on this.
You might want to wait until they send a version of Oreo Android for Note 8 that has the problems fixed."
I took the Oreo update the day it was pushed. I immediately factory reset and everything, including the camera, works perfectly. For the other Note 8 variants that recieved Oreo, and had problems; a factory reset fixed 99.9% of the issues.

Factory Data Reset is where my problems began. That end up Samsung telling this information and wanting to flash me back to Nugget until they fix this issue.
I was on OTA CRC2 Samsung stock Oreo.

Yeah, I had to factory reset as well... I used SmartSwitch to backup the phone on to my external SD card and then factory reset, wiped clean & installed CRC2 using Odin and then restored using Smart Switch app.
It sucked to do things all over again, but the phone seems reasonably behaved again!
Hi
I got the s21 Exynos. After the android 12 update many of the apps keep crashing. They are all up to date. I cant seem to find any solution to this problem. Am i the only one with this problem ? Cant find any other info about this issue.
Factory reset. Do not use SmartSwitch to reload the apps.
A factory reset is always best to do after a major OTA firmware upgrade to avoid issues.

Don't know but a factory reset is SOP.
I never upgrade an Android if it's fast, stable and fulfilling its mission.
