[Q] Error installing custom rom

Ok so I installed rom manager and downloaded the M9 rom and put it in the root of my sdcard. I select install rom and it reboots in recover . The options I have are
reboot system
reinstall packages
delete all user data
delete cache data
format internal sd
I tried selecting reinstall packages but it gets about 10% and says E:failed to verify whole file signature
Installation aborted.
Any idea what I'm doing wrong?
Thanks
It looks like you are not rooted or you lost your update folder (the rooting folder)
You should see if the phone is rooted on the app menu a superuser icon if you do not see that then it is not rooted. When the phone is correctly rooted in recovery the menu will have "install zip from the sdcard" if that is not there thenit is not rooted. This could be caused from a bad flash you may need to reflash the root (use oneclick) and/or may need to odin back to stock and start from there.

[Q] Cannot find KP's ginger bread to flash.

I have the updated cwm unlocked fresh sbf1.83. I can get to apply update but no file to flash says says up date zip not found. I can see it in atro manager though. How do I flash it.

Click to collapse
You have to "Install Zip from SD card"... then use the menus to navigate to where you stored it.
no such line on cwm 0630-1029
I do not have that option it was on the old cwm but cant seem to find in on the new one? only have update zip wipe cach and reset
You need to update to the newer CWM. If you haven't unlocked you can get it in this thread; http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1019143&highlight=cmw+recovery
If you've already unlocked you'd want the latest/greatest available here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1138541&highlight=cmw+recovery
I have the newest installed from 6/30
Sent from my MB860 using XDA App
No option list to choose zip from sd card is listed

Try renaming it to update.zip, because when you choose get to apply update its searching for a file named update.zip.
Plus the new CWM supports internal SD card.
Fixed Thank You
I had to reflash 2 in order to bring all the options up.

How to get a rom from a phone?

Hi,
I have two galaxy 5, one with original "TIM" rom and another with Cyanogen 7.1
How can i get the original rom that came in my phone?
I want do that cos i like the original one (modified by my carrier, TIM), and i have 2 phones, one still with the original.
I want to get the original to flash the other that i've modified with Cyanogen 7.1.
Install Clockworkmod - http://www.madteam.co/forum/development/(development)-ltsecret-projectgt/
Then, it will reboot into the new recovery mode.
Go down to Backup/restore > Backup. it will show a load of processes being done. when it has finished your rom will have been backed up onto your sdcard. Copy it, put it onto the phone with cyanogen's sdcard, flash clockworkmod onto that phone and this time go to Backup/restore > Restore from sdcard. go to the place you put the rom and select it. it will do a load of processes and you're all done
Simple : Install Clockworkmod. Backup. Move to other phones sdcard. install clockworkmod. restore. done
any problems, just ask
No, ClockworkMod can't backup stock roms yet. I don't recommend this.
You cannot safely extract the entire rom (including baseband, etc.), but you can download an official ROM update from the Kies server. This would be valid for sending the phone for warranty repair, etc.

Thanks
But for now i will stay in Cyanogen

Problems going from cyanogenmod 7.1 -> stock

Hi
I have flashed the cyanogenmod 7.1.0 on my htc legend which went fine, but after som time i realized the gps wasn't working, i tried for severel hours all kinds of gps fix advices i found in google but without any luck.
Because of this i want to go back to stock android 2.2 or 2.3 if possible.
I am having some problems returning to stock android and again tried severel guides.
I tried downloading the newest htc sync and run a RUU update but the updater can not connect to the phone, no htc sync support in cyanogenmod is the problem i think.
I tried downloadning severel different image files of different versions of android on to the sd card and rebot to recovery mode throug clockwork and tried flash a zip file from sd card. But either the update stops because the file is "bad" or it need a newer version of something the cyanogenmod updated when it was installed.
I can see i should be able to do a nandroid backup if i have made such one, guess the guide i used didnt mention that, only i shoud remember to backup my pictures/music/sms....
If you need any more information please ask
Hi,
try this sequence:
1. Open ROM manager application
2. Scroll down to "All clockworkMod recoveries" and click on it
3. choose from that list 2.5.0.7 and press OK
4. Now download a sense ROM from XDA like Blay0's ROM here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=866849 (if you want to keep this rom download also the patch for upgrade to b0.8.4)
5. Copy the ROM and patch to the SD card
6. From the ROM manager reboot into recovery
7. In recovery mode wipe data and cache
8. Still in recovery mode instal zip from SD card: first the b0.8 ROM and then the b0.8.4 patch
9 Reboot
Now you should have a stock based ROM and do whatever you like (go back to really stock rom which I don't reccommend)
Let me know how it works!
Thanks ill give it a try

Just unlocked the bootloader the next steps

I I have just unlocked the bootloader of my HTC one M9 AT&T, I have just pushed twrp-2.8.7.0-hima.img to it , I saw the new alert screen about not having read write access to the system partition, I clicked ok and then went in to backup and now just after backup I am moving the backups to my laptop.
I have copied BETA-SuperSU-v2.49.zip to the phone and getting ready to install that with TWRP did I miss any thing ?
My end goal is to put the custom viper rom on the phone , have root and be able to write to the hosts file but for now just trying to root and not screw up any thing

Nope. Unless you want to test your backup.
Note: to restore a system image backup, boot into recovery, go to mount, and place a check on the box to make the system READ ONLY. Then restore.
PS - I never flash superSU separately. You can just reboot to recovery, swipe to allow read/write, go to reboot > system and then TWRP prompts you to install SuperSU before rebooting. Swipe to install it there.
All went well i checked the MD5 stamp of the backup and looks ok but did not try and restore, Installed SuperSU separately
Just downloading Viper Rom now
