Hi all,
I have been looking and experimenting on toggling my phone mobile data and so far i have no luck.
What i want Tasker to do is to toggle my mobile data while at a certain time. I haven't had much luck so far as I cannot make the toggles work on an unrooted phone. The phone I'm trying to automate is on the Samsung Galaxy S6 edge. I have AutoInput as a plugin which works well for other toggles such as GPS but the mobile data not so much.
I am welcome to suggestions and appreciate your time.
Hi all,
I've managed to find out a way through quick settings or pull down menu, but it does not collapse when the screen is off. The lock screen just shows it pulled down. It works when using the phone but not on the lock screen. Is this a known bug? Is there a work around to it?
Cheers

I'm new to Android, please be gentle. I have searched numerous sources for an answer to this. From what I can determine this is a change in Android that only provides for one screen timeout. IE, every time the screen turns off and I reactivate, I have to enter the security code.
Previously was using an N900, where I could turn off the screen on a 1-2 minute timer, but not have the security lock kick in for 1 hour of idle time.
Is there any way to implement the same behaviour with the SGS2?
I second this question. I find this extremely annoying and would like to know an answer to this too!
A bit of relief I just found is to use widgetoid and the lock screen disable function. It temporarily turns off the the security lock. Haven't figured out the details yet but it seems to re-enable it after a timeout as well.
Not perfect but a definite improvement!

Widgetoid does not work if you have a security policy (device administrators) in effect. :'(
Anyone know any app that allows you to set the security timeout differently than the screen timeout?
i came from n900 too, also miss the separate screen/lock timings.

me too!!!!!!!!!
believe it or not JUICEDEFENDER ultimate has this feature.
it goes a small step further in that you can have another (longer) time set for lock screen when the phone detects certain WIFIs. eg your home network.
the free and cheaper versions may also have this function, im not sure.

Did this work for anybody..? with device aministrators /corporate email locks..
Would also like to know!
And a follow up question, SG2 should have some form of hardware encryption - how does this work?

The Juice defender doesnt work if there is a remote device administrator enabled.
Please help us out here.. guys..
StayAwake app in market can help u .
Did this work even for Exchange admin?
Hey everyone,
I just got an AT&T pebble blue galaxy s3 to replace my Atrix 4g. Everything is great except the atrix had the ability for the screen to never time out and samsung seems to not have that feature. When I look at the screen timeout settings it goes from 15 seconds to 10 minutes but there is no "never time out" option. Any solution to this?
I commute about an hour to work and its annoying to have to tap the display every few songs so the screen stays on so I can swipe to the next song in spotify. The phone is not rooted but I'll root if necessary. It would also take a lot of convincing to get me to flash a new rom. Thanks.
I don't think the Samsung Galaxy S III has that option built-in, unfortunately, but it seems like this app can do pretty much what you want to do: http://www.appbrain.com/app/screen-on/gr.androiddev.ScreenOn
Try a program called Battery Booster avaliable from the market. Go into settings, click the little clock icon and click the never button. Your screen will stay on forever. There are other time settings as well. I use it. It's great.
install extended controls from market and add "always screen on toggle" to your homescreen. enable/disable it whenever you want

Note that you are in the wrong forum. This is for the international i9300, not the US-versions.
The App 'Keep Screen On' in the market does exactly what you are looking for.
All three of these apps are great, thanks so much everyone
I am noticing some problems with my s3 after the official jellybean update. It feels like it has been rushed to the phone. For example it doesn't have the quick reply feature in the notification window. It does for missed calls but not for messages. This is one the most anticipated features for me. Also when watching you tube and you don't want the screen to rotate it now does. I want to lock the rotation so I only get the small video at the top when my phone is on its side. It worked before jellybean update. Also auto brightness has changed. When auto brightness is selected you can manually turn it up with the slider in the notification window and it disables auto brightness and changes to what you set on the slider. Now on jellybean you have to uncheck the auto brightness box and then slide. Little features like this are starting to make me feel like it has been a massive rush to get jellybean on to the s3 which is ironic seen as though it took long enough. I have the international i9300 model s3. Is anybody else noticing the problems I have stated? Does anybody know a way of changing/getting the features? Thanks.
They were definitely to busy with the Note II, I mean come on at least give their flag ship the same/some of the features that a bigger version of the S3 has... That sexy multitasking should have been on the initial jelly bean update.

I've not got a clue what you're on about?

I know what you mean. The note got great features like the multi window. Apparently that's coming before the new year but I highly doubt that. Are you noticing the same problems I am? Another problem I found is when screen goes off after inactivity you used to be able to press the home button a moment after it goes off and it would turn the screen back on leaving you at the page you was. Now the home button takes you back to the home when you press it. It's annoying you have to go back to the app.

Me too, my problem is the battery with jb lj4
I think there is a few little niggles but overal its pretty much the same.
The autobrightness don't disable automatically now when you adjust the slider as you can now actually adjust the autobrightness brightness, Not sure why though.
Google Now - leaving it active at the mo, but not really found any usefullness from it as yet. The Time home feature is ok, would be good if it actually showed the route I take home - Via motorway, rather than the route through city center which i don't take!!
The new notifcation bar - its ok, nothing major. Expect a bit of all these features will improve over time as well once apps get proper updates. Some work but don't have full functionally - Songpop has no notifications now for example.
Battery Life - I did find that my normal phone use on ISC which included about 50/60 mins worth of calls etc wi-fi left on all the time but only actually connected to wi-fi at home (just 2G & 3G at work) i would have about 55/60% battery life left by the time i got home from work, on Jelly Bean - with the same useage i had about 40/45% left. I am now back to the same as before on ISC, but i didn't disable google now or anything just turned Wi-Fi off when left home and turn it back on when home - results was 55/60% battery remaining a as on ISC. Seems that the Wi-Fi drains when not connected - either it keeps on searching which it might not of done on ISC or its the Google Now doing something (Does say improve location by keeping wifi on - does this even if not connected!!) - Least this way i can still use google now and see how it improves its tags overtime.
I am now using a App called WiFi Timer to automatically switch Wifi on and off when i leave/get home.
Love that it now has voice downloaded so you can text etc with no data connection - find its more accurate now as well!
Never had the small vids on Youtube when rotated phone so not sure about that. Take it disabling autorotate doesn't do this?
Good and Bad
My experience is as follows:
Good:
Sheer speed, no perceivable lag.
A problem I had with only half the SMS notification tone being played (before it cut off) has gone away.
Bad:
Battery drain terrible even when idle. Turning off Google Now, Location Services and Samsung Push Notification fixed this.
When I activate Smart Stay, the screen does not want to turn off 80% of the time - even when I'm not looking at it.
When I wake the phone using the home key, it exits the app I was in. Previously, this would wake the device and return you to the current app (after unlocking). I have a partial work around using the PreHome app; this way the app is still visible underneath the PreHome dialogue box and I just need to press Back to get to my app again.
Widgets, seem to refresh less regularly, particularly Messaging and Gmail widgets which seem to hardly even refresh when I want them too.
Of No Consequence:
The red charging led is a little dimmer when charging.
Overall:
The speed benefits outweigh the niggles - just!

No need for an App. You can do it inbuilt.
Go to Wifi, Menu button and Advanced

Yep i know, but this app is far better as it lets you setup different profiles for mornings, evenings & weekends etc which the inbuilt one don't. :good:
root?
i may just root my phone as i really am not happy with this jellybean update, nothing has really improved for me, if i root it and install a rom like codename all the features like quick reply would be there right?
Hi I am looking for a 'working' flight mod app or widget. I have used several so far but they are not turning off data. Its annoying at night when all is quiet at home to suddenly get a notification coming in. The little plane icon is usually there but the data is still on. So any thoughts on one that works on our phones with a rooted stock rom or modded rom? thanks
You can turn off "data" Settings in 4.2.2 (Settings > More.. > Mobile Network > untick Mobile data) or you can use the default Power Control widget to toggle data on and off..
if thats what you mean...

I'm using SwitchPro Widget setted up as notification panel toggles and it works fine except the torch.
OMG it does not work, didn't noticed before couse i usually untick wifi, data and sync before to set airplaneode on.
So any other app is working?
Thanks for the replies but the real issue still exists that even though the flight mode is activate in settings i am still getting SMS's and emails coming through and this morning when it was switched off there was no data at all coming through, maybe a reboot will fix a few things but that shouldnt be the case, should it?
I did a search for data switch apps and found one that switches off the data so that may do instead of a flight mode one. thanks again for your replies
Notification Toggle
Give it a go, it works

Hi guys,
I like the Night clock function on S6 Edge, but I have to choose a time when the clock will be up. Actually I'm working by night and turn on 3x8, so I don't need that function everydays on the same hours.
I'm looking for a way to activate this function when I'm charging the phone.
I know I can trigger something with Tasker when puting the charge on... But I don't know how I can actually launch the Edge clock Function... Maybe with a shell command or something else... (I activate the airplaine mode on S6 edge with a Shell command)
Anyway, if someone has an idea i'll be greatfull !
Thanks in advance
(By the way, I'm sorry for my bad english, trying to do my best.)
Did you manage to get this working? I'm keen to do the same thing
Hi,
no I didn't. Sold my S6 Edge, battery was not doing the day...
Hi, i have an S7Edge and im controlling the night clock with tasker and secure settings pro (device settings). With Tasker you can set on/off and start/end-time. Maybe it works for S6 too...
What is the setting specifically. I can't find it on my own.
