Dear all,
I bought a used Galaxy Player 4.2 (international version) and tried to install CWM Recovery by using Odin. I've waited a long time, but Odin was completely stuck at the step 'SetupConnection'. I disconnected and restarted the device. This was a huge mistake, I think.
Everytime when I turn on the player a message appears and keeps on the screen - 'Firmware upgrade encountered an issue' - even when I try to boot in Download Mode.
I tried to flash 'YP-G1FullRestoreIntl2.3.6.tar' which I found here, but no chance. Odins tells me that it was not possible to finish the operation. Hrmpf!
Any ideas what I can do to bring my Galaxy Player back to life or is this the end?
Your help would be much appreciated.
Thanks
Simon

edit: Seriously, this forum seems to be dead. Solved the problem by ignoring the "encountered an issue" warning and tried to open the download mode with succcess. Stock rom solved the problem.
I have a n8005, and since Samsung is not gonna release JB a long time for n8005 I decided to upgrade firmware myself with my limited knowledge. It seems to be easy to do but actually it is pretty hard for newbies like me.
Tried to upgrade with firmware 4.1.2 German version (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2016792) via Odin. Now it doesn't even go to the recovery mode and writes "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again".
OK, what to do now? Any advise?
Hey guys.
My friend installed the official Jelly Bean update(XWLST) on his Indian Samsung Galaxy S II. He rooted it. He then installed Chainfire 3D, despite my warnings. Now, the phone shows the Galaxy S II logo and a yellow triangle with a ! when the power button is pressed, and then it switches off again. He gave it to me to fix it. I've tried flashing using Odin, no use. He used the Siyah S2 6.0b4.tar file to root it. I tried flashing it using that. Kies does not recognize the device, says it's not compatible with Kies 2.0, I tried factory reset from recovery mode, again, no use. I don't know what else to do. Please help me guys. Thanks in advance,
Androman 117.
Get a stock rom from Samfirmware with Odin, flash it. If it doesn't work, try another one. And another. And another.
That's the only way you're fixing this. NAND could be borked if it won't take a flash.
Also, you're being rather vague; 'I've tried flashing using Odin' - flashed what exactly with Odin ?
I have a major problem. My Samsung Galaxy s III US cellular is stuck at a menu everytime I start it up. It says Firmware upgrade encountered an issue, Please select recovery mode in kies and try again. This hapend because I downloaded a an odin program and tried to downgrade my Phone from 4.3 to 4.1.1. Of course it failed and that is what happened. The next thing I tried to do was go into recovery mode but Kies 3 doesn't support my phone or it wont connect to it? Please I need help, any help will be so well appreciated and thanks to all the future help!
I tried to root my Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 (SM-P600) and it failed in the middle of flashing. Now I cannot connect the device to Kies, nor can I even boot into recovery. I just get the Firmware upgrade encountered an issue screen. I can only get into download mode. Even so, I can't seem to flash anything. It keeps failing. I just want to get this thing working again. Help, please?
EDIT: Odin finally decided to work, my device works again. *sigh of relief* Can someone please delete this thread?
So I kinda soft-bricked my galaxy ace 2 i8160 and Samsung Kies doesn't help at all I go to odin download mode, plug phone to PC and after 5 minutes of thinking, it says (device not responding, to resolve the issue, reboot the device). Can someone help me get back to pure firmware 2.3.6 or 4.1.2? I've now installed 4.1.2 jellybean and it's stuck on loading screen. I've tried both cyanogenmod 10.2 and 11, my phone couldn't detect sim card contacts and couldn't make a call, it says turn off plane mode, even if it's off...
nevermind... thanks guys... I just recovered my phone using instructions in this link...: http://www.droidviews.com/how-to-downgrade-galaxy-ace-2-gt-i8160-to-gingerbread-from-android-4-1-2/
